[Completed] [Q] New - Trying To Get Help With A Boost Mobile LG F3 - XDA Assist

Hello -
I've got a Boost Mobile LG LS720 (F3), and the phone was rooted with Towelroot, as it is a v7 phone. I was assisted at Android Forums originally; yet, I am trying to get assistance - as I want to start using Terminal Emulator, to unlock the phone's read-only memory status in sdext2. The phone works, but, I cannot get CWMT 6.0.4.8 to work correctly - it always triggers a factory reset; though, root remains. I'm able to use my mp3s from my 32 gB micro SD, but, I can't move apps using Link2SD Plus (which is the only way I can access CWMT 6.0.4.8). I'm not new to bringing root to phones, but, this Jelly Bean phone has given me nothing but trouble - I even soft-bricked it once during v6, and sent it to LG's Ft. Worth repair facility to get v7 installed (stock) I have Busybox installed, SuperSU, and to stop the 'Android Is Upgrading' app optimization at boot, I installed CWM Superuser. I have ES File Manager installed, Root Explorer, and Remount installed, as well. I want to learn about using Terminal Emulator, and taking my Android experience to the next level. I am willing to do whatever it takes to become immersed in Android, and one day, start developing apps. I hope that you folks can assist this 52-year-old, disabled Androidphile in taking things to the next level. Thank you for allowing me to post. LOveBusker

Hi,
Here is a Guide on Terminal....
Guide:Using the Terminal
For more specific info, or just more reading on it, I suggest you use the search function and see what you find. ?
Good luck!

[Completed] What app is this and where to find the app data folder?

Hi, I bought a chinese head unit for my car an it seems to work very well with android 4.1, 6.95" display, A9 dual core cpu, unbranded. There is an app called "bootanimation" (see pic 1), when starting you can select one of 3 different animations (pic2) but I don't now where to find the data files for this app (and did not find ANY information about this app!) - I would like to use another boot animation file. It seems that the device is NOT rooted (tried to active root access in file explorer, but this did not work). App information (pic3) doesn't help - do you have any idea where to find information about this app?
Thx in advance!
Hi,
You can't access system apps or data in a file Explorer without root, as far as I know.
You could ask here if anyone knows a way..... But you may need root to accomplish this,

Good luck!

Also, root it usually needed to manually change boot animations, as they reside in the system partition.

[Q&A] cm 12 no usb after install

Q&A for cm 12 no usb after install
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for cm 12 no usb after install. If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
WHY?!?!?
Post in the correct forum dude! Why did you post the is the development slot? You only post Roms and delopement items here. If you have an issue than reflash or ask on a different forum.
Op please remove, and post in new thread
Edit
I'll try to help.
Few question,
Did you install the lg software when you first got the phone to your computer when it asks you to?
Did you try and go into Dev options and turn on adb debugging?
Did you try and do root access to adb and apps which is also in Dev options?
Try those and get back to me.
I hope this helps!
To macdud
Thanks for telling me which forum I should post a question as to why a rom does not have working usb.
useless
I guess your telling me there is an obvious

Well on the next part your helping.
I've been a long s2 s3 s4 owner and while I've not had the bandwidth to work on roms I've done a lot of hacks with modules and su based stuff
before flashing cm 12 id already rooted my g3 back in october
I do write a lot of apps so adb was working fine with the rooted but stock 4.4.2 rom.
with cm12 when I choose usb debugging the phone soft resets and comes up thinking its in usb debugging but when usb cable attached there is no detection. My nexus 5 and s4 work fine and show on windows as android adb device (which the g3 use to do)
I also do have the root setting fir adb and apps (cms built in supersu you mean)
I eliminated hardware at least adb works in twrp
im wondering if its stuck in charge only mode (lg stock had 3 options... mtp... camera and charge only) I thought maybe there was an sqlite setting that was needed.
I don't want to but I've been thinking to full reset and see if that clears it out. ? Just wanted to see if there was a known fix or something I could try to find if it is some sort of rom setup glitch.
Note that usb tether cannot be used ghosted like the rom thinks the usb kernel driver isn't working.
Maybe I should install a shell tool orbdo wifi adb shell and see if a sys log or /sys or /proc shows errors?

[Completed] [Q] How to make a su on MediaTek devices

Hi everyone!
I'm working on a pretty convoluted project and it needs to have a working su all the time. The device is a Posh Titan HD (SoC is MTK6592) and I used RootGenius which installs the KingUser su app.
What I need is to have su work all the time, in any situation, without any hassle. Currently, KingUser su asks for permission for new apps. I also suspect that it "forgets" the given permissions after some time. Worst of all, even if the app has already been given su access ( by pressing "Always" when the dialog comes up ), when I launch shell commands that involve su, they NEED to have the app be in the foreground process (probably because it wants to show a toast but I'm not completely sure). Also, I don't like KingUser making a popup asking the user if they want to update the app.
So as I mentioned, the app I'm working on is pretty complex and not straightforward. It's a Kiosk-type app that tries to limit user interaction. We own the phones so we can even install a custom ROM on them if needed. What I would need is to have the su working anytime, without any hassle, without any user interaction. Just the possibility to execute anything and everything as root.
Do you have any idea what would be the best way to do this? Even a little help would be greatly appreciated.

[Completed] [Q] HTC One M9 - Root apps won't work (root available)

Device: HTC One (M9)
I tried to root my smartphone including unlocking bootloader and so on...
I used the tutorial linked down below.
https://youtu.be/rOHN8byHAzk
I had no issue during the process. The only thing that didn't work was the recovery of the file "UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip". Therefor I used the beta file (BETA-SuperSU-v2.49.zip) and with that it worked!
After recovering with the beta file i had the app SuperUS pre installed. I used the app "Root Checker Basic" to verify that the root access is available and it was!
After that I started to install further root apps like "Emoji Switcher" for instance. I realised that the root apps didn't work. They had access and there were no errors by executing the apps or executing the action but it simply noting happend, even after restarting and as well after recovering the phone again.
Does anyone have a conclusion? Would appreciate any help!
A small thing is also.. I noticed that by downloading apps from the play store (multiple downloads) it sometimes happens that the error 923 pops up. A restart of the device helped for a while.
My last try was to reset the phone. After that the app syncing worked fluently but the root apps still didn't work.
Thanks and kind regards

[Completed] Need some help regarding manual rooting using ADB to place the files. ReRooting phone

Okay so I've had this phone for little over 10 months now and within that time I've managed to achieve root (unreliable but it works at the very least) in that time as well as learned a fair amount about Linux and android alike (Not a whole lot but I know some stuff) though I've now come to the point of I actually want to give my phone a proper root instead of this faulty solution I have currently. I (barely) managed to get my phone rooted using Kingoroot and I've played plenty with my phones' innards in that time, removed system apps, added my own selection to the system but some apps in my phone that use root don't work even with root permission granted which is why I'm wanting to replace Kingoroot with ChainFires' SuperSU binaries, could anybody help me with simple instructions for someone who doesn't actually know very much regarding how root and SU bins work inside of android? My phone's using 4.4.2 kitkat.
Just a few disclaimers first to get misconceptions out the way:
1. I do not have a custom recovery nor is one available for my phone (Samsung galaxy young 2 (SM-S130H) for those who want to know)
2. I'm currently unable to use the internet on my phone as I lack Wi-Fi to do so (router is dead) so I'm manually installing app packages through ADB, so if something needs an internet connection on my phone it's not going to work for me, for now..PC still has net access.
3. I have access to ADB shells' SU but not ADB root so I hope you don't need that from me.
4. This phone does not have a fastboot mode. (That I can find anyway..) Only a download mode from what I've found.
Can anybody help me out with telling me what I'll need to be doing in regards to getting this done?
