Another case question with easy battery removal - Galaxy Note 4 Accessories

i preordered the 4 and would like to have a case ready ASAP. I currently have a Note 2 with an otterbox. I'm often out using my phone and need to swap batteries when away from chargers (mostly goecaching or benchmarking). The otterbox isn't that much of a PITA to take off and put back one though mine is pretty beat up right now. Anyone have suggestions for a rugged (often drop it in the woods, etc) case that isn't going to take 15 minutes and a manual to remove and put back on?

UAG or the Spigen Tough/Slim Armor. You could easily slip it on and off. Of course the UAG won't be available in time (as always).

Which Case should I buy?

I recently bought a samsung blaze, and love the phone. And now I'm looking to buy a nice protective case. I've narrowed it down to 3 cases:
http://www.power-skin.com/battery-cases/samsung/galaxy-s-blaze-4g.php
http://www.ebay.com/itm/FOR-Samsung...188781?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item2c6aca11ed
http://www.ebay.com/itm/CLEAR-BLACK...158681?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item4d07ab7419
Which one of these 3 cases would provide the best protection? Feel free to recomend a case, though i'm not looking to spend more than $10 with shipping.
Any help would be appreciated.
Of these three.. I would get the powerskin. I just saw you can get it for $5, so I bought one. There is a thread here about the powerskin case, so if you head over (maybe you already did) you can read what some folks have to say about it. I will be adding my 2 cents once I get mine
I don't think any of the three you selected would be superb in protection, so that's why I suggest the powerskin. If you want extreme protection - from drops, etc - get a ballistic or otterbox, although I'm not sure otter makes one for the blaze. I have a ballistic and when it's dropped 3-4 feet I'm not concerned at all

Well unfortunately I can't give you the answer you are looking for. Coming from my exhibit, I tried to go the cheap route and ended up spending more money in the long run. I first started with a $4 'hard rubberized' case and the first one actually didn't even snap together. Had to return it - and had to pay for shipping to return it. Second one actually snapped together, but the first time I dropped it it cracked... and no longer held together. OK I thought, I will try another style of case. Bought a 'sleeve' style case (I think it's neoprene) for $3. When I got it I immediately realized that this one wasn't going to work as it didn't feel like it would protect my phone from anything. That was $10 that I no longer had and I still didn't have a case that would actually protect my phone from an accidental drop. I have kids, so I need something that will also protect those times where they pick up my phone (even though they know not to do so- but c'mon they're kids) and accidentally drop it.
You could spent $5 and get a case that actually does something besides protect the phone (the powerskin), but if you are looking for good protection my recommendation still stands with the ballistic. http://www.amazon.com/Ballistic-SG0...1356194932&sr=8-1&keywords=blaze+4g+ballistic. $17 shipped. I think if you are looking for good protection you can try one of those other ones, but you may end up spending more money overall in the long run.

Otterbox Defender

I'm thinking of replacing my current Samsung Book Cover case with the Otterbox Defender series case on my Note 8. My experience with the Defender series is great, it's a great case on smaller devices but I want to know what it's like on this device. This particular case has a built-in hinge, sleeve, and screen protector. If anybody is using/has used this case, please let me know how it is.
Here's a link: http://www.otterbox.com/Galaxy-Note-8-Defender-Series-Case/sam2-galaxy-note-8,default,pd.html?dwvar_sam2-galaxy-note-8_color=20&start=2&cgid=samsung-galaxy-note-8-cases
Best investments I made for my Note 2.0 and my Note 8.0. I got the glacier color to match my phone case. The protector sleeve is actually pretty nice. Sorry I am at work and can't post photos. When the tablet is in my day bag and with the protector over the screen I am 100% sure that nothing witll happen to the screen. The hinge is actually in the "sleeve" and allows the tablet to be stood up straight or at an angle for whatever view you prefer. Someone mentioned that there is no SD card accedd but I bought the Samsung USB adapter that plugs into the power cord slot and I run my 1 TB Passport external drive off that to watch movies, view and save documents and even listen to over 10000 songs I have saved on it. Only down side to that accessory is that it SUCKS the battery life. If I could find a splitter where it is charging and using the TB drive I will be set. The case is a lil wider than the Gumdrop and a few ounces heavier but its not too noticeable.Other than not being waterpoof this is by far the most protective case out there for the Note 8.0. I went from the Samsung "book" cover type, then bought the Gumdrop case thinking that was the best one out there but if I would have just waited about 3 weeks I could have saved $65 but oh well. So if anyone wants either one I will sell them dirt cheap. I would say buy it because you will not be disappointed.
Cheers
I just received my OBD today! I was so excited to get it installed onto my 8...the thing is like a virtual tank now!
Had official bookcover on it previously. I would have never bought one but it was a freebie with my purchase. I liked how the cover sort of flipped over onto the screen, almost like it was magnetized. I never used it as a stand because I read that it make them not lie flat anymore. Also like the on/off feature, to which I am accustomed on my Note 2 via "Smart Cover" app. However, that case felt very flimsy. The top cover would slide around on the screen when closed, and give the impression it could slip right out of your hands when carrying it. Protection from a drop? I doubt it! Liked the slim form but having children and a daily commute to and from work, throwing it in my handbag every day, or even taking it out at lunch to read or play a game...I was VERY paranoid and toted it around like a newborn!
If you don't want any added weight or girth to your tablet, then don't get the OBD. It does make it a bit bulkier, heavier, yes. But a HARD plastic screen cap that SNAPS into place when not in use? Awesome! Perfect for transporting in a bag or even just under your arm. Piece of mind, for sure. I'm not testing it out with any drops to be sure, but I'm pretty certain it would fair pretty well.
The outside rubber silicone shell was harder than I thought it would be. However, I think it seems like it would be more durable than a softer material. It's tough to disassemble, so that's also a plus that it won't just come apart on a whim. The built-in screen protector seems pretty decent. Clear as glass. It feels a bit funky with s-pen but it's not horrible. Just have to get used to it. It also seems just a tiny bit bowed (maybe it is just the one I got) so when you push down with the pen near the center you can feel it love ever so slightly towards the glass. Really, no big deal, and could just be mine. Gladly I overlook this for the extra insurance.
Love the rubberized side buttons and port covers. I think they are a definite plus to keep dust & such out. It's not waterproof but if water would get spilled nearby while sitting, or splashed from rain or whatever, it would definitely deflect some or all of it. Don't drop it in the fishtank or the toilet and you should be fine!
I'd be glad to answer any questions. I just got it today so I haven't used it too much yet, but I can tell I'm gonna love it!
Thanks for the feedback! I'm definitely going to get this case!
Awesome..!!
Well I too carry this case for my Note 8.0 and it has just made my Note a strong MACHO product....
I got this case for my Note 8 last week and I love it.
I had an Otterbox Commuter on my iPhone 4S: saved it on one occasion in particular that could have cost me a new phone. I also had the Otterbox Defender on my old iPad 2. Both the old iPhone and old iPad are still going strong for my special lady friend and look brand new thanks to Otterbox.
I now have the Otterbox Commuter on my S4, Defender on Note 8 and I'm waiting for my recently ordered iPad Mini Defender.
These are great products, especially if you are a bit rough with your stuff.

It feels....different. Not as smooth as on glass. You can definitely tell there is more "drag" as you're moving the spen across. I am not one of those super-picky people who complain about everything (lol) so it doesn't really bother me.
The thing I've noticed most about the sensitivity of the screen protector (in general) is that it makes the screen a bit less responsive. You must press a little longer (we're talking such a minute split second though, and I'm talking finger here) and more deliberately. This is caused, in my opinion, by the fact that the protector is not sucked fast to the glass underneath. I can feel mine move the tiniest bit when I press on it (because it is not adhered but simply sits on top) and that small bit d, of space between it and the screen provides a slight delay. Don't let that scare you. It's really not that bad. Of course, like I said, consider the source here (non-picky-person!!!!) I would rather have a well-protected device with a inconsequential difference in touch than a vulnerable, naked one! IMHO
Can you remove the screen protector like in other Otterbox cases?
Just got mine today. I don't think you can remove the screen without messing it up. Prepared to be told I'm wrong though.

So, after owning the Otterbox for 2 months and 9 days, both "tabs" on the side of the "sleeve" that hold the tablet on it have broke. I am by no means rough on this thing at all. Even with the tablet being in the case I am still super easy on it. Submitted an online warranty claim, Sent in a couple of pictures of the damage to Otterbox, they reviewed my claim and within 24 hours I have a replacement heading my way. So even though it broke, I am still 100% satisfied with their product and now with their warranty process. If you haven't gotten an Otterbox yet, I say get one.
Cheers

I finally received mine in the mail (1 month wait while overseas from OtterBox, BUT it was free shipping!) and I don't think I'd be happier with another brand. The rubber isn't super soft, nor does it attract lint. I don't think the rubber will stretch any time soon, it's pretty solid! Definitely happy with my purchase!
I'm moderately happy with the Defender on my Note 2 (screen protector isn't flush, rubber stretches) and an considering a Note 8. Anyone got any long term reviews on this case?
re: Defefender-Note 8
Mine has been fine, EXCEPT one of the little tabs broke off of the cover portion. Since it was less than a year, I contacted OtterBox to get a replacement. I had everything gathered beforehand...receipt, place I purchased it, etc...ended up that I didn't really need all that stuff. They just wanted pics documenting the damage, and they also asked for the batch number (probably for quality control purposes-it's imprinted in the rubber.) They sent out the replacement right away via FedEx, had it in a few days. Could not be happier with their EXCELLENT customer service. I'm sure if you did have issues, they would be able to address them with you. Oh, and the rep on the phone was super nice & VERY friendly. :good:
I have the poetic revolution and i couldnt be happier. Its just as solid as the otterbox but only 30$ usd 3 year warranty it took to days from amazon..its feels premium protects well ...

Offical Wallet Case Review

I've been using the official Samsung Galaxy S5 case. It's a nice case but I have some criticisms
1: It doesn't feel like it could take a solid fall
2: When flipped open for moderate periods of time it will refuse to close all the way unless you place it front down
3: Even though it's advertised as being water proof (you remove the backing of the phone to place it in the case) I constantly get the message to check the waterproof backing.
4: When the wallet case is open there's no way to take a picture as closing the case covers the camera. This makes it cumbersome to take pictures because if you close the cover you have no access to the photo options/buttons and the screen automatically turns off.
While the case looks nice it really is a waste of money at $30 and up. I highly advise spending your money on a non-samsung case.

Because i want the extra fall protection, I bought the Outterbox wallet case. Had one for my iPhone and it fell quite a few times and the case was damaged but the phone was in like new condition when I sold it. I just ordered one for my S5 and it will be here Wed/Thurs.
Yeah, the Otterboxes are pretty damn rugged. They've always been a bit too bulky for my tastes. When I had an iPhone (trying to bury those memories reeeally deep...) I used a Moshi flip case. I dropped that phone so much in that case and it never even took a ding. Once I remembered it (thanks to you!) I checked them out again and they have one that should hopefully be released soon and I'll definitely be ordering it once it does.

I looked at those after you mentioned them. They do look nice. I got my Outterbox wallet yesterday, it did as some bulk to the device but I cannot complain. I like having the case for 3 cards, I was so use to it with my iPhone from having the same case that I do not know how many times in the last week I have forgotten my license and credit card.

Case-mate bumper and case for Moto X pure

Got the bumper and case on Moto.com
The case feels more solid and comfortable in hands because of the curve and thickness. But as you can see the case can easily catch fingerprints on it. Actually the case looks a lot better in reality than in this picture, my bad.
The bumper is a little loose on the left and right side and feels less premium than the case due to the material. But I do love the color and the design to show your finish.
Ps, I got these two with only $15, that's another story.
Forgot one thing. The case can relative cause heating issue. I can feel a little warmer (not hot) with the case under the same usage.
Still a naked phone for me but thanks for sharing.

It's Naked Tough Case for Moto X Pure Edition, you can find it both on Moto and case-mate's website.
Well I ordered the X Pure but my delivery was about one week late, so the rep of moto gave me a coupon of $25 to purchase any accessories on the website. Later I decided to get a bumper, which costs 20. I thought that the coupon of 25 can easily cover the whole price of the bumper (I just thought they will cut the price with maximum 25), but later I found that the coupon didn't work and I was fully charged. I called moto and they told me that I have to make my total purchase over 25 to be eligible to use the coupon. It's kinda sophisticated, let me make some examples:
1, You bought an item under 25, even 24.95, not work. You pay full price.
2, You bought a single item over 25, let's say 29.95, you pay 4.95+shipping.
3, You bought two items with total over 25, maybe one 20 and one 15, you get the 20 free and pay 15+shipping.
See? That's really complex and They did NOT mention this kind of thing anywhere. While after discussion they decided to cancel my original order and send a free bumper, and I can still use that coupon to buy other staff, while I went with the case. That's the whole story, to be frankly, compared with the ending, I would rather they ship my phone on time at the beginning.

The heat is why I would rather use a bumper case. This device IMO gets too hot to have a case on it for my medium to heavy use. Any app that uses the GPU much gets this device hot and a case only helps keep the heat in.
As far as the bumper case, the tube trim seems like it could come off after some wear. Does it seem that way to you? It looks like a blue tube that has been glued to the bumper frame.
I got mine this morning. Really liking it so far. Don't feel like I'm going going to drop the phone any more. I got the grey/black and it goes well with my white front and dark ash wood back.

Hard to say. It looks perfectly flush so I'm thinking it's good for at least a year unless you're really rough on phones. My main worry is dust/grit collection and scuffing up the edges of the phone. I'll make sure to clean it out weekly.

Just wondering if you think the bumper alone can offer protection. The phone is huge and I'd like to avoid any case, but I don't know if that's wise.

Actually it's no complicated. They give a 25$ coupon essentially. It's not a 25$ giftcard where you use it and you have money left over it's a one time coupon to use and you have to use it all

Based on the design this is what I expected, but a few months later than now. It would be better off with a harder frame and coated rubber glued around the frame.
I will use the plastic two parter for a while longer I guess. I was going to drill holes in the back, but can see the plastic crack. Need to think about it....
The bumper case it came with was too fragile and broke around the button area. Plastic is too thin. These hard cases though only seem good for scratch protection and keeping the heat in for GPU heavy app use. The latter is not a good thing.

Seems though it will protect better than the hard cases, since all hard cases do is transfer energy to the device itself when dropped. About the only good a hard case provides is scratch and scuff protection.

Damn this is probably the longest I've ever had to wait for a case to arrive from 2 states away. Ordered on 11/18 and Shipped out 11/19. It sat in Salt Lake City, Utah for 2 days 11/20 and departed 11/22 @ 10pm...Still wont be here till Tuesday-ish... FedEx shipping. And I opted "Express" (which was free)
They couldve just popped it inside a USPS mailbox and wouldve been here on Sat.
Shouldve looked in BestBuy to see if they had it in stock. :banghead::banghead::banghead:

I'm not sure how much I like it. I have the G4 still and got the Defender for it as well and I know it's a smaller phone but I think it's the curve back that just makes it seems so much smaller than it really is and Otterbox doesn't make it feel that big. Now the V10 Defender this thing is a Tank. I'm sure I'll get use to the size after awhile but coming from a Note 2 Defender to the G4 Defender was 100x better design feel and everything. I also got a Supcase for my G4 the Water Resistant and I actually used that alot more than the Otterbox since it would cover up the back cutouts with plastic and protect the camera. Wonder if they will release on for the V10.
I have the Tmobile V10 and Fingerprint sensor worked maybe 5x with the case I try everytime still but 99% it won't. They better release a update soon. Still have another week before I decide to keep the V10 or not my fat fingers do type better on the V10.

I ordered mine the 12th, shipped on the 13th and was delivered on the 17th @ 9:35 PM by FedEx never had anything delivered past 7PM before. I also got the Free Express Shipping.
I'm not sure how much I like it. I have the G4 still and got the Defender for it as well and I know it's a smaller phone but I think it's the curve back that just makes it seems so much smaller than it really is and Otterbox doesn't make it feel that big. I came directly from the Note 2 and had the Defender and also had the Zerolemon with the ZeroShock case. That was a monster to hold. Someone said it looked like an old school garage opener...lol

LOL yea I had the same ZL and case I used the ZL all the time it was a beast never had to charge that phone. Had 2 Defenders cases on 1 of them I did the battery cutout mod before ZL came out with the shockcase. I couldn't hold out anymore grabbed a G4 on release had my N2 since release.
The Defender is built well. The Plastic snaps that clip together on the 2 plastic shells are really easy to take off compared to the N2 and the G4 case ( was better) but not as easy as the V10 always seem liked I needed to use a credit card or something to pop 1 or 2 of the clips I can just use a finger nail and not feel like I'm going to rip it off if you know what I mean.

I hear ya on that I work Construction and main reason I always buy a Defender on my phones. After awhile you get use to the bulk of the Defender's but it's nice to have the option to just go without or a slimmer case. That Water Restraint Supcase for the G4 is nice it protects the Camera Lens as well plus they put little screens on the case over the speakers and mic ports for dust etc. They don't sell a holster for that one but I found that the Beetle Supcase holster worked fine with it and same with the Defender so I've been using the Supcase with Defender Holster for last few months. I contacted them if they were going to make any case's and they just replied back with they have no case's that fit.
What other case you got I might grab the Obliq just for something slimmer.

Just got a generic rugged case from ebay and now the Defender. Gotta say that theres a big difference in quality on the 2. Gonna put my ebay case for sale on OfferUp and maybe buy a slim case for when I need one.
Where is the Otterbox Commuter for the V10?
Looks like this is now 40% and FS from Otterbox right now oh well.
Also don't forget up to 12-10% CB from online sites just go to cashbackholic to see.
Is it even worth 40% off?
Kinda pissed that a week after I order mine its now 40% off. Might be a Black Friday Deal.
Has anyone taken off the provided Defender Screen Protector? I already have a TGSP and this plastic just leaves the screen harder to make selections.

Earlier I opened up a 2nd account and ordered it again. Then setup a return on my 1st order. It's only a $5 charge taken from credit for shipping return. Still save's you $15 plus 12-10% at some CB cover's that $5 so almost back up to $20 saving's.
I'm just waiting til the new one comes in and send it back on the return order unopened.
I haven't taken the Plastic cover off. I might wait til that 2nd comes in and do it. I've done it on the Note 2 and G4 but the V10 case looks like might be little harder might have to heat it up a little with a heatgun blow dryer.
I think next time I'll wait for BF if I buy a phone just before not sure if this is something they always do. Wanted to grab the Samsung Tab Pro/Note 12.2 but its OOS.
Since I have 3 of these Tripod/Selfie Stick Mounts I wanted to see if it would fit the V10 ... While it does fit (barely) I wasnt pleased on how unsecure my heavy V10 was on it.
So I got to thinking on how I can get the tripod mount onto my Otterbox Defender Holster.
Heres what I came up with.. It sturdier than just the phone sitting in the tripod mount. And the phone is still accessible for easy mounting and unmounting. I can also flip the phone around and use the rear camera because my mono-pod has a mirror to make sure that im in the shot.
Paired it with my Bluetooth Shutter Button and now I'm ready for a NewYears Eve Night of Selfies In Las Vegas!!
Enjoy!
Oh last picture is my haul for tonight!!
