[Q] Regarding Viper4Android - Sony Xperia M2

I've tried to install V4A in the M2 before, but it only works with audio files sampled at 48khz. Sadly, most of my files are at 44khz and V4A doesn't seem to process these files. I've checked the main V4A thread for similar cases and possible solutions, to no avail.
Anyone else here installed V4A and encountered this issue?

Answered my own question
Finally got V4A to work with the stock Walkman player, regardless of sampling rates of the subject file.
On rooted stock 4.3 JB, what I did was to install it as a system app. Installed the desired driver (mine was Power Saving) then put it on compatibility mode. Voila, better music experience. Works well with ClearAudio+

Could anyone help me set it up on Lollipop? Any setting I change doesn't seem to have any effect.

for lollipop, you need install selinux and apply permasive

You need to select awesome player instead of nuplayer in developer options then use selinux mode changer change to permissive then on 5.1 disable audio settings and music fx apps install viper audio and viper drivers reboot set to permissive and then it'll work

Thanks, it works now.

[V4A] Not working as intended on Xperia D2303

I need help guys.
So basically I need to install V4A as system app to /system/app or /system/priv-app, because as user app it goes on and off randomly, especially when i leave V4A control panel. It's annoying as hell.
Now, when it is installed as a system app convolver does not work. I can choose any impulse, but there's no difference, it just behaves as convolver was disabled. Other effects are mostly fine. Setting it to compatible or/and forcing does not help, either as user or system app.
Could it be kernel issue? My device is Xperia M2 D2303, KitKat 4.4.4, kernel is Fkernel (from XDA). Also SELinux is set to permissive.
Thank you in advance for any tips/solutions.
Read the viper audio thread there is something about that very thing was having a flick through the thread earlier on. That's what it does as it's not supposed to be installed as system app apparently. Does something to the settings.

Which Audio enhancement app for CM12.1 nightlies

Until now I've been using Viper 4 Android for audio enhancement, but it's not working as it used to with other roms. Now, I am searching fot a replacement. AudioFX is very poor compared to V4A and it does not seem to work either. For now I settle with Poweramp's equalizer and enhancements, but is there anything better that works? Thanks!
Have you tried changing the selinux status to permissive? That's what enables v4a to work.

Now that you mention it, I did not double check if it's set to permissive. When I first installed V4A I had set it, but maybe it was reset and maybe that's why V4A stopped working. Either way, V4A's equalizer never worked, not even when V4A seemed to be working correctly.

V4A works for me ever since CM 12. You just have to install it correctly. Also there is a flashable .zip in the official thread on page 1886, which enables running V4A with SELinux enforcing

Xposed and Viper for 5.1.1

5.1.1 has just rolled out to most of us here.
The OS is faster, and has a few jagged edges every now and then, but it's better than kitkat IMO.
But has anyone got Xposed to work?
And Has anyone got Viper to work?
I've tried this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=56964275#post56964275
Really want Viper first, Xposed is not so "urgent".
If you got Viper/Xposed to work. Please post it here, or PM me and I'll make a new thread if you cannot be bothered to.
Exactly why I'll be stopping on kk no xposed for a start waited 6mths plus for update that's no good

AFAIK Xposed not gonna work for a while cause of corrupted services.odex in Sony roms.
V4A works like a charm using this method (found on Nexus5 Reddit):
As we know, Lollipop changed a lot. Some of the changes affect Viper4Android. There is a workaround for it, but you have to use FX Compatible Mode, which is not ideal. But I found a temporary fix, because I really hope the developer of V4A will start developing again soon.
These are the steps to get V4A working again like it worked on KitKat (you obviously need root access for V4A):
Step 1: Download SELinux Mode Changer, because you need SELinux to be set on permissive.
Step 2: Install Busybox on Rails, V4A requires a working Busybox.
Step 3: Go to the Developer options. Search for this option: Use NuPlayer (experimental), unclick this option, so you will use AwesomePlayer. (Very important step!)
Step 4: Install Viper4Android, I chose the super audio quality option, because I didn't notice any extra battery drain.
Step 5: Test it with your favorite music player.
With these steps, you should have a normal working V4A.
I tested it on my Nexus 5, Play Music and Soundcloud are working, proof.
Hope this helps!

For what I've noticed, Normal mode works for Spotify, Compatible mode works for other players like stock one or PowerAMP.
@resutatto
Tried that as well, keep telling me to reinstall drivers, turned SELinux enforcing mode on and off ext. Kept on reinstalling the drivers. Even found a post where I flashed 3 zip and that worked for ONLY default music app. And then after that audio died all together.
I'll just give it a few more weeks for everything to stabilize, and then try again when I got a few hours spare.

Viper4Android

Anyone got Viper working? I've installed the material one from here, audio compatibility patch etc but it doesn't seem to do anything?
I loaded some profiles into the folders and the app also crashes when I try and load one
About to test that right now.
Use the one in Magisk called Viper4Android FX not the legacy.
This one works for me.
Have been using it since day 1 after installing Magisk. Has been working, the same as the 6T.
yes here is a magisk module of VIPER4Android 2.7.1.0 magisk module i made based on APK so no other special things needed.
Just open app and it will ask for root and install drivers... will auto reboot and done...
download
Has anyone got a profile pack that works with this one?

Hi,
Thank you for the module you have created. I am attempting to use this on my op7p, but it does not appear to enable. I am rooted and used magisk to install the zip, then rebooted, then ran the program to install the driver. The profiles folder for viper is loaded to the root directory. Running audio on my Bluetooth headphones defaults to Dolby Atmos "balanced" mode, which I cannot disable without toggling audio sources. It seems to default into thinking they are wired speakers until I toggle between speakers and Bluetooth. After this, I can disable Atmos processing, but still no luck enabling viper. Additionally, attempting to enable the higher quality codecs in Dev options never takes, they seem to revert to system default as soon as I exit the menu.
Running viper shows "driver enabled: no", and "processing: no". Did I mess up a step of the installation, or is something missing from magisk/viper?

try to go to settings > Attach Audio effects and enable and then disable (while music is playing to see if you can tell a difference)
Hi, thank you for the quick reply. Toggling audio effects doesn't appear to have any audible differences, but if it is on, the status goes to "abnormal" and the audio format is unsupported.
Toggling master limiter enables/disabled driver status, and apparently my music player (pulsar) is not supported or recognized by viper. Using YouTube vanced I am showing that viper is indeed processing, and I can tell what is working or not. Looks like it's time to find another media player :fingers-crossed:
Do I need to do anything to the inbuilt Dolby before installing the V4A mod?
Thank you
Yes mate, go into settings for V4A and enable effects and master limiter. Then change song and you should be good to go. Also, go into the V4A folder. Move all of the files in the DDC-Orig folder and create a new folder called DDC and move the files into there. Now you should be able to use the profiles
I had to install the magisk modual first and then install the apk version from xda labs before it would work.
It now works on Spotify but not on other apps like bandcamp.
I got it working on my oneplus 7 pro by following this video on YouTube.

Install Viper4Android on Minix x8-h Plus with Android 5.1.1 finless 1.0 rom rooted

Ive tried downloading several different versions of Viper4android and Dolby Atmos and I can't seem to get it to work. My drivers in Viper4Android say Status:Abnormal.
Am I required to set SELinux to permissive if I'm rooted?
My device is rooted and I prefer not to set SElinux to permissive. Is there any way around it?
Will any Viper4Android version(even the latest version) work with lollipop 5.1.1?
Do I need a specific version of Dolby Atmos to work?
I have Magisk installed and tried installing the Audio Compatibility Patch and Audio Modification Library and installing the drivers, then i uninstalled them and reinstalled the drivers but nothing is working. When I try to open the Dolby Atmos app it force closes. The Viper4Andriod app opens fine but it says drivers are Abmornal. This is for my minix box which has a bluetooth speaker connected to it and I'm trying to get better sound coming out of my Bluetooth speaker for watching movies.
I tried using this method also
but the link in the description is not working https://labs.xda-developers.com/store/app/com.pittvandewitt.viperfx so I tried using another version I found online which bundled Viper4android and Dolby Atmos.
