[Q] Qi Charging -built in? - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

may i as if our z3 is qi enabled? built in? if yes, is there any product you can suggest for my phone? thanks

No, Z3 doesn't have wireless charging built in (only via the magnetic port). There is an official Sony QI charging case on the way but I believe it is yet to be released. Also it is rumoured to cost about £80!

So, z2 has Qi Wireless charging and z3 not? Thats weird..

As far as I was aware, the z2 didn't have it either.

Nope, Z2 didn't have it either. Same deal, there was an official case you could get (WCR12 ) that would then do it but it didn't have it built in.

Samsung Galaxy S4 will support wireless charging. And a the wireless charger will cost $59.99. The charger is said to hit stores in April.
The i9500 has extra connections for both NFC and wireless charging, only the i9502 or may be service provider models such as sprint or verizon may have them removed.
Will the wireless charging enabled battery cover (which will be required alongside the charging pad) add much (if any?) thickness to the phone?

I think it's best to wait for the actual release of the phone first, as the wireless charging has not been officially released or confirmed yet for the s4

Found an answer to my question here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4OKgeZPyiHo
If it has the Qi standard, I think Lumia and N4's wireless charging dock might also work for GS4.

maybe it will support gs3 too.
(that sounds great)
Does anyone have an update on the Qi charging accessory? I haven't seen it available online anywhere.
This is what I found in a local hong kong magazine.
top price for transmitter, and bottom price for the receiver battery cover.
I bought a Palm pixie charging kit for my S3. Since the phone got stolen late last year, I still got the kit unused.
Gonna try it on the S4!

I'm really starting to worry about the wireless charging accessories for the S4.. Mentioned quite a bit in the leadup to device release, then suddenly quiet.. Deja vu - the exact same thing happened with the S3, and there's still not an official wireless charger available for that.

[Q] Sony Xperia Z3v qi wireless chargers

I'd like to expand the acknowledgement of the Verizon Sony Xperia Z3v with in question about qi wireless chargers. What are some recommended wireless chargers where i don't have to spend 50+ on Sony's wireless portable battery pack?
I ask why so since i bought this one from eBay. It sorta works, but it doesn't consistently charge my phone. It just charges for a few seconds before it resets itself. After the reset, it charges again which forces my phone to reopen the qi notification which just drains my phone more than charge.

Is it just my problem or does anyone else have the same?
I have both of these for my Z3v, they work great.

I thought the z3 only had magnetic charge ? Qi charging works with the z3 and z3 compact ????
Amazon has a qi charger from Anker . Like $23, works great. I have 3 and have used them for months.

If you read, this is the Z3v, not Z3. The Verizon model includes qi charge from the box.

Althought I have some concerns about them cause my phone does run fairly hot when charging on them. Probably 44-46 degrees Celsius range.
Have you guys noticed this when your phone is on Qi Chargers or do I have crappy chargers? I feel like this could hurt the battery capacity/longevity.
I've used both of these successfully with a case on. The car charger does occasionally lose connection after a bump when the phone is in a case, but if i tighten down the grips enough there are no problems. It doesn't interfere with my fm transmitter either, which is nice. My phone does get warm, but not exceptionally so.

I use the Official Nexus 5 wireless charger for my z3v. Works great.
I'm using my old Samsung charging pad from my Note 3 at home...works perfectly. Using a cheap Droid Qi charger I got for $10 online somewhere (the Incipio Ghost 100) at work...works fine. As someone mentioned earlier, the phone gets pretty hot when charging but it seems to be mostly when it's trying to charge from below about 90%. One it reaches about 90%, it guess it starts to trickle charge to get to 100%
Works
TYLT VÜ Wireless Charging Pad works great.

I have an Xperia Z3V and it was getting hot also. I have the Samsung QI charging plate. It is not so hot that you get burned when you pick the phone up but enough that it said cooling down and had a red triangle displayed. Looking at this thread, it seems to be a very common problem. Are there some chargers that NEVER do this? I like my Z3V with its good camera and all else and so I plan to keep it for a while. I have tried USB chargers that are rated 2 amps and they don't seem to make the phone quite as warm. Maybe I need one with multiple coils to allow a better charging area? I don't know but until I figure it out, I am back to USB charging. I don't want my Z3V to die early or worse, burn the house down. I have an Xperia Z and Z1S and they don't get hot like that but they also don't have Qi charging. Is there a fix in later roms? I still have build number 22.0.E.1.44. That is 4.4.4 Kitkat and it is rooted with SuperSU installed. I bought the Samsung charger because it was 10 off at Bestbuy because that one was the display and thus an open item but I don't think that is the cause.

Qi charging

What Qi-charging options are there for the xperia Z5?
Any chance that Sony will release something similar to WCR14, or are we stuck with fitting generic receivers between the phone and a case?
As I know, z5 doesnt support wirelless charging out of the box

Yeah, exactly, no support for wireless charging. However, Sony has released cases with built-in wireless charging for earlier models of the Z-line
and I was wondering if anyone knew if they are going to release a similar solution for the Z5 Compact.
At the moment it seems as though the only viable option is to install a qi-receiver bought on ebay or a similar site and pair it with a case.
Not so bad i guess, since it probably is a hell of a lot cheaper and you get to choose whichever case you want.
Awaiting my Z5C now and will update when I have installed a qi solution.
That is impossible becouse that cases before have connection over magnetic charger and z5c dont have it.
Okay, bummer..
I thought they might solve the problem of the missing magnetic port by using the micro-usb connection..
Just wanted to confirm, I purchased a Qi Wireless Receiver that connects over USB - no dice. They don't have the "teeth" that microusb ports have and due to the water proofing the port doesn't turn on.

Shucks.. I just ordered one of those..
Tried various adapters and it doesn't draw enough power to charge. It just vibrates and turns the screen on but doesn't say charging.
Maybe you should try "detect the usb device" option

Looks nice! what kind of amperage are you able charge with tst receiver?
I'm going to be ordering this one:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00YGV76LK/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A11ID9O6IRX38
Review show that it's pretty close to 1amp in most cases.
And using this so every time its in my pocket I'll have this in there charging it..

Ampere shows 200-600 mAh (depending of the position)
Its working really good and its cheap, don't get why not all the companies install it in their phones ...

Just wanted to post to say that this is wrong. What it needs to work is a connector has the data pins to be connected so that it shows that it's capable of outputting higher than 500mA. I'm using the Zoer receiver that has that and it works fine. Amperage is between 260mA to 770mA depending on the qi charger that I use.
no, not really. This qi definitely works.

You just need one with 4 pins instead of the cheaper 2 pin ones. I have one which definitely works. Unfortunately, xdadevelopers doesn't let new users post links for some reason, so I can't help anybody with the link to the one I use. I spent a lot of time working out what to use and finally went into a 'retail store' to test the one I ordered before ordering my own z5 compact. If anybody wants the link to the ebay item, just email at [email protected]. Make sure you choose the 'A type' for the z5 compact. Works a treat. There is a lot of confusion about qi on the z5. Some people are saying that it is because of its waterproof attributes, you can't do it. Not so. This works perfectly and once on, can be used with any QI standard charging mat.
Guy, anyone tried with the quickcharge wireless pad yet? By the way, do we need to have quick charge supported receiver coils in order to use the quick charge charging pad?

I've never seen a quick charger receiver? I gave up on this in favor of quick charging at lunch
For those that have gone down this route a couple of questions please:
1) How has the QI receiver lasted if the phone is submerged? Did it just need rinsing in clean water and drying out or was it screwed?
2) Is there a maximum thickness to the case which I should worry about?
3) What sort of time does it take to charge up?
4) If I'm playing music or video will it charge quicker than I'm draining the battery?
Thanks!
I just got this one:
ASIN=B01E15W2ZA
and it works good with my Xperiy Z5 Compact. It charges with about 600...700 mA, something les than with a normal charger, but absolutely enough for my purpose - modt of the time I just want to recharge over nitght. It goes up to 100 %.
The included power bank feature can also be used via Qi, but probably smarter it to use it with a cable to not waste Your capacity as heat.
By the way: Even NFC works through the receiver!
But still I folded the receiver cable twice to position the receiver on the lower edge of the beackside of the phone. This way I avoid the risk, that NFC sensitivity gets reduced and I can line up the phone better on the charger, because it must lay quite exact on the cross.
i have qi charger for 5c and it works. i order plate fro qi and qi charger from ebay. just this qi sticker must set under some case. another way it is possible to broke it.

Wireless Charger that works??

so, the sony wireless charger, isnt out yet, and its ridiculously priced, around 150 bucks.
Has anyone found an alternative wireless charger that works?
My Samsung one does not...

Qi charger adapter -compatible case

Hi everyone,
I'm really onto using an USB-C adapter for qi wireless charging (although I lose the port I would otherwise use for wired headphones).
Thing is, most cases I tried on my A2 don't consider the extra bulk of the adapter attached to the phone's back, and in fact some of them don't even stay put because of it. Best option so far has been to use the included gel case that came with the phone, although it gets bumpy on the back and looks ugly since the case is semi-transparent.
Can anyone also using such qi adapter suggest a good case that fits better, while not showing the adapter (i.e. opaque case)? I guess I might have to go for a simple, non-transparent silicone case or something, but i'd love to hear some suggestions from you guys first. Thanks.
Which Qi wireless charging have you used? How's the charging speed compared to the out of the box Quickcharg 2.0 adaptor. I'm thinking to buy Quickcharg 4.0 adaptor as Quickcharg 4.0 support has been enabled for Indian devices. Tho yet to crosscheck this claim as my device had that Indonesia"caping" app which I've uninstalled so I'm not sure that I have an Indian version or Indonesia version.

Oh, it's quite slow ? you should know that quick charge goes away when using an adapter. I'm using one from Nillkin.
