Hey guys!
I just wanted to start off by saying I already have a 64GB Oneplus One, and I received an invite today to buy another, now, I love the oneplus one, but battery life, on my device, isnt that great. ive tried all the steps etc to help it.
My oneplus is also dented and is fading on the back ( ive only had it for 1.5 months )
So my question is this, Should I sell my oneplus one for a Quoted £252 for the state its in and buy a new one for £269, so in essence £17 to get a newer one which isnt damaged
The reason why im thinking about this is, I want to own this device for the foreseeable future, but the more it dents and fades it makes me want to get rid of it and stick with my Z2 or something else. What do you think? Should I go through the hassle?

If you are really picky about things like that, then you're better off selling it and getting a new. Now, when you get that new one, please buy a case for it now...
Cheers.
Sounds like a good plan. Buy a new one, as what Paulo suggested... buy a case / screen protector (screen protector not really needed but if ur a person whos had a history with devices being dented etc etc, then i'd recommend to get a screen protector)

Huh? Why not use a screen protector? Something like the Nillkin 9H tampered glass screen protector only costs about $10, that's a damn sight cheaper than replacing your display, and prevents you from having to go through OnePlus support, it's thin and it feels just like a glass digitizer does. What's the logical argument for not having one??

I also have the 64gb sandstone I'm not using a cover.. Does it really "fade"? Do you put in your pocket?
Mine looks good, but I feel like it's losing the grip (it's been 8 days).

I put mine in my pocket regularly and before I put my Diztronic case on it I never noticed any fading of the feel of the sandstone texture. However, since putting my case on I've noticed a slight wearing towards the sides of the back, so it must be moving ever so slightly in the case.

+1 get a tempered glass protector, I wasn't going to bother but glad I did, you don't even know it's there.

I also hate any screen protectors. Why should you pay for gorilla glass when you don't use it then? Any phone I use is unprotected as I neither like cases or screen protectors. I only got a fit pouch bag for tough days but I used it only 2 times since I got the phone 3 weeks ago.
Just use what you want
I have to say that I baby my devices very much never had one single cracked screen

Just kidding... in my eyes, get a screen protector if you're not careful. Otherwise, a screen protector is not quite necessary but nice to have.

The worst thing that happens if you crack your Opo screen is that it'll become unusable as digitizer will break too. I've seen many cracked screens with working digitizer, but opo has it differently. So, considering this, I'd double protect an Opo, even if you hold it like a baby.

I still have the original plastic film on the screen from when I bought the phone but it's starting to peel off on one edge. Can anyone recommend me some good screen protectors? I would prefer it they do not smear and don't distort the screen in any way (colors or clarity). Thanks for any help! Loving this phone.
I'm in the same position. I went to ebay and purchased this extreme guard for $3.99 with free shipping.
It was sold when I found out the material is for protecting exotic car paint jobs...

You know, the one from tmobile isn't that bad. I was skeptical at first, but its easy to put on and I am actually satisfied. I took it off once to reposition and then peeled various parts back to get dust off of the screen and its stuck like it was brand new.

Yeah I'm trying to find a good sp before I get my G2 also. There's a few threads here already and the Vikuiti sp has good reviews but I'm waiting to see if someone can tell me if it's better than the Realook sp. I had the Realook one for the Vibrant and it was great, couldn't even tell it was on (aside from the ocassional fingerprints).
i Have the ones from T-Mobile, a little high in price at $14.99 but if u mess up you do get 2. You also get a screen cleaning cloth. If you like to use Swype then ull love this SP! it makes it super easy 2 swype. Fingers never get stuck to it and its a much better SP than the ones for the Mytouch / G1. iF u can find a friend whos buying a G2 u guys can go half on the pack at that point its 8 bucks a pop. Not bad.

I'd like to find one that isn't "rubbery" at all. The one that came with my wife's MT3G isn't "scratch proof" like the rubbery ones, but it's nice and smooth and doesn't give the "orange peel" texture and distortion to the screen. I really don't mind if the SP get's scratched, I can always replace it! I just want an experience that is as close to no SP as possible.

If you both need OEM cases, then there is a deal at T-Mobile stores where if you buy 3 accessories, you get everything for 30% off. It would make the screen protectors about $10 (and the cases between $17-20-ish).
I don't mean to be a troll, but why do people need cases or screen protectors? You can try to scratch the screen with a razor and have no luck. I've never used a case or a screen protector, and all of my past phones still look new other than some slight paint rub off and one has a tiny dent on the corner from dropping it 8ft. All glass is 100% scratch free, even after many drops. What are you people doing with your phones???
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
I think I could keep my screen scratch-free, but to be honest I just simply don't want to risk it. With every phone I've purchased, I've thought I could keep from dropping it, but shtuff happens. A scratched screen is highly annoying. I'd rather have a screen protector and never have to worry about it.
I have a bad habit of dropping my phone, usually on hard, unforgiving concrete. The last thing I want is to damage or scratch up my case--especially during the 14-day buyer's remorse period.
I've used martin fiekd overlays and its pretty awesome.

I dont know about you, but when i sell my phones, it usually helps when the screen looks next to new. Tiny scratches develop over time whether you like it or not, so a SP is good to use. Plus, i dont know who fed you the information about glass being 100% scratch free because it is not.

I was saying my glass on my used phones are 100% scratch free. I have sold many phones on eBay after using them for 2 years. Their screen all looked "next to new" despite never using a SP.
They seem like a good idea for a female that drops her phone in to an over filled purse, but my phone is always alone in a pants pocket or sitting on a table/shelf/etc. I have dropped my phones multiple times, but thankfully none of them have ever got a scratch from it.
The best SP I have found to date is the one from T-Mobile. It's anti-smudge, cuts down on glare and has a great feel to it. I paid $15 for 2 of them.

Hi there.
I've got the problem that I have to decide between two devices. P9 or H8.
The H8 looks, imo, better and feels better. A bit thicker and heavier. That's what I like, until now I use the one M8, there I know what I've got in my hands
The biggest deal breaker so far is the back side. Made of Glas. I hate this kind of coolness, that seems to be more important than durability.
Additional there is in Germany no warranty for the first months to get front or back replaced if broken.
So what's your experience with the phone? Already dropped it out of hand or pocket? Perhaps landing on back or front? Did it survive everything so far, or was a side broken?
Next point is the price, honor 8 399€, P9 519€....
If it would have a metal back.....
I'm looking forward for your answers!
Greetings
Patrick
You can read something from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-8/how-to/screen-strong-t3456686 it gets scratched easilly with micro scratches (As EVERY device with back glass. I know this because i had the xperia Z1 and my friend has S6 edge which got scratched too) and I guess as long as you get a case and dont drop it you should be fine.

Thanks for the link.
Well that means that I will call my market and NOT take it. They shall sell it someone else.
A case and a tempered glass is not the problem.
But a crack from a minor drop, and easy scratches and so on, not thank you. That's not worth a saving of 120 euro....
Damned.
..
Well if you dont have both hands left you wont drop it. That's up to you but i also prefer to buy phones in classic shops instead of dealing with sending my phone for repair through mail (in case of RMA). This is why i bought Honor 8 instead of OP3.
It's not just because of my left hands
I also got a child with 1,5 years. And believe me, somehow she always gets her hand on my phone. And yes, I am sometimes a little bit left handed. My M8 fell down several times, always in a case, but never something (noticeable) happened. But it's getting sooooo slow, I need to make factory reset at least once a month to get a smooth phone back. That's annoying. And that's the point why I need a new one. Or want a new one. Depends on the point of view
And after I know that I definitely WILL let it fall down sometimes.... I go for some phone without a glass back. Seems to me a bit better for my money
And yes, I ordered the last phones on Amazon. But we hate each other now, so I will buy it at a store, or a bit cheaper at O2. But never ever again Amazon for electric stuff.
But I leave the point of this thread.
The glass seems to be ok, as long as you use a foil on the front and a case and never let it fall down.
Point one and two ist fine. Point three impossible. So I have to choose something else... Really a bit bad, cause I like the optic....
Point to add to this...
I've had my Honor 8 for a few weeks. I've never dropped it or set it face down. I don't put it in a pocket with anything else.
I've got a LOT of scratches on the face already. It's really disappointing. I looked online and to get a tempered screen protector (which looks like garbage because they don't cover the whole screen) I'd have to wait until mid October. I'm sure the screen will be in horrible shape by then.
I love the phone but they cheaped out on an important part.

Yeah the ones on amazon ship to me in October, no earlier. I'm pretty disappointed because I don't use cases or screen protectors on my phones, but my Nexus 5X was fine for 8 months so far with no scratches. I've had this one less than a month and it's starting to get bad.
Hi,
I've always used a screen protector on all my previous phones, i only take it off when i'm about to upgrade.
I can seem to find a good one for the galaxy s8 so i'm considering going without one.
Those who don't use screen protectors, are there any scratches on your phones?
Thank you!

This glass scratches easily for me. I went about 2 weeks without one. Being very careful I still found very small scratches.... Can't really see them without looking at a certain angle but definitely there. Go with an armorsuit wet apply. Just take your time putting it on and let it rest over night. Applied it with good pressure and it came out perfect for me. Don't even notice I have one. No lifted edges eaither.

My phones don't scratch. I don't really need a case or a screen protector, but there were times when I would put a matte screen protector(ArmorSuite) to eliminate fingerprint smudges. I don't keep my phones long enough to warrant buying accessories for it.

You can of course buy screen protector, it won't do harm to your device. It of course depends how well you take care of devices. For example one of my friends drops phones a lot or just while talking may hit it against some object(not on purpose). If my screen doesn't get scratched, I don't see a point in buying one. The longest I have used a phone is for 6 month(many years ago) and after that all of my phones were used no more than 3 months.

I don't want you to get an impression that I am rich Basically what I do is: Buy a good phone of my choice(I buy mostly used in excellent condition), use it for few months and when you see something you like, sell it(I sell on eBay), then purchase another model with the money you got from selling your previous phone - this continues for many years. Just take good care of the phone(no scratches, marks...) and if you don't use accessories that came with your phone, then it is even better and you can get better price.

I am using and wasted almost sgd150 on many screen protectors.
I tried without for few days. Scratches are visible. Good to get protected.
I never saw the point in a screen protector. Gorilla glass is really hard to scratch. My s5 after over 2 years of heavy use only had a few very minor scratches, and the screen on the s8 is even less scratchable. Unless you regularly use sandpaper to navigate your phone, you shouldn't need a screen protector.

Lol on the sandpaper. Ive had my s8+ since April 19th and so far just two dry minute scratches, unnoticeable unless very close inspection.

I've had my S8 since it launched and I don't have a physical screen protector on it. All of my previous devices had glass screen protectors on them. Since this phone has curves I didn't bother with one. The TPU protectors I can't stand because they dent soo easily, and for me it's worse than having scratches on the glass. I have very minimal scratches that can only be seen in certain lighting which don't bother me at all. I decided to buy the Woosh Diamond Defence liquid screen protector after the scratches appeared to help reduce future scratches (also applied some on my camera lens). I've had it on for about a month and no new scratches have appeared (that I can see) so far.
I have a case. I tried a protector but like normal I got annoyed and threw it away. No scratches and I've had it for about 4 months now. I hate screen protector they make the phone look worse than if they had scratches so what's the point? It's like when people cover there couch with those ugly ass plastic covers.

This is the kind of thing that scares me. My Note 4 has seen heavy use for almost three years now and the glass is utterly flawless. Lot of these S8 threads have replies like "Oh I've had it a couple months it only has a few scratches on it."
I've always used glass screen protectors on my phones and it's kept them immaculate, but I've tried two diff types of glass ones on my S8+ and I just cannot get them to stay on for any length of time, so I'm going without which sucks, but what can you do?
So i got the ESR protectors and they were utter trash, so i got a refund. Now i want something because even though i love having it bare, i'm paranoid. the samsung one was perfect, i loved it, but i got a gouge in it bc im an idiot and dropped my gear s3 on it lol....anyway, i thought i saw samsung was going to sell those protectors...but where are they?
The stock? You feel it was sufficient? I feel it's less thick than usual tempered.

Ya just go to your local grocery store they are usually on the food storage aisle. Comes in a roll usual called plastic wrap. That's all you need basically the same thickness and plus you get a whole roll
I also happen to like the one that came pre applied.
https://www.mobilefun.co.uk/official-samsung-galaxy-s10-plus-screen-protector-transparent-70640
stock due in 4-5 days says, i'm not sure on other countries
Edit:
found another one:

not sure on the reliability of the site.

hilarious.
MOD Edit:
Language.
Stock one is pretty decent in my.opinion. I need something that if I throw my.phone in a pocket w keys the screen doesnt get scratched. Does the job.
I never use screen protectors, but agree this stock one fits the bill...
The stock one is fine for me. Slippery, crystal clear and protects the screen from the scratches. Does the job.
Very good screen protector indeed and I hope this thread finds the answer.
the product code identifier is:
ET-FG975CTEGWW

Well I don't know what are you doing with your phone but mine is like new! Also I don't get why a lot of people complain about the pre installed screen protector, it's great and best of all it's free!
Mine is still like it isn't there. The only downside is fingerprint sensor.
I've had my phone for just over a month and the original protector is perfect. I've had the phone in and out of cases several times and there is no peeling and no marks. It feels smooth, like glass, and is clear and clean. Like I said, perfect. ?
I actually bought screen protectors with the phone, unaware that one would be fitted already, and I've had no reason to switch. FWIW I'm also using the included clear case, even though I bought a few others. Goog job, Samsung.
I had a small tear, and I wanted to see if its glass or cover, - so felt the cover kinda coming off and had to peel it eventually. But it was kinda loose too
Pre- installed...Wait where they do that at lol

because customers were complaining about the screen saver scratching and some even sending their phones back over it. Also samsung would send customers for free replacement screen savers. Wasn't worth the hassle in this market for them anymore.

I'm not sure buddy, I installed one of those non glass ones yesterday after I received my U1. It's the type that is installed in two parts and no heat or water is needed. I believe LK and Qitoyo are the same, bought the latter it's ok. Good overage and smooth. 10$ three pack.

Thanks. I got the Ringke dual easy which applies really well. Just that the quality of the sticker is inferior to the factory installed one I had on my Note 10

I was about to buy that one. But it mentioned it has some wings technology that wraps around the sides. That bit put me off a little. What's it like in practice?

It is great actually. The wings that wrap around go just a tiny bit towards the back glass and do not affect the look of the black glass. The wings also help secure the protector from lifting off the edges
I also put a skin on the back to get rid of the fingerprints you get on the black N20U .

I was looking for a topic like this haha. My one actually developed a few bubbles and I had to peel it off a couple of days ago. I received my unit in early September.
I am now struggling to find a good protector that works well with a case. Tried Ringkie but the protector was a way smaller than my phone!! Looks like it was a faulty batch. Tried another one - Apiker, and it peeled off when I putted my phone to my Spigen case despite Apiker advertising it won't.
I am now stranded in the middle of nowhere. Don't know what to buy to have a bubble-free screen and compatible with my Spigen case. Ordered the Spigen screen protector but it has mixed reviews...
I now regret I removed the original one.

Just get the one of the ones mentioned earlier to tied you over . They're a dry applied 3 or 4 stage peel type. I think most are made by the same factory. Leaves about 2mm on edges almost like the factory applied gap.

I couldn't find a single dry protector that would be bubble free and compatible with a case. No matter how hard I try to follow the instructions the protector either has bubbles/spots or peels off when phone is in a case. It just doesn't stick firmly. I will try my luck with Spigen wet protector. It should be compatible with Spigen cases as advertised. Already spent around 40 pounds on different protectors with no luck. I wish Samsung could offer the service for a fee. Their factory screen protector was attached perfectly.
I still have pre-installed screen protector on mine too and it's sitting well and is like new still.
