[Completed] [Q] Cannot flash zip with Android system recovery - XDA Assist

I flashed original Firmware with Odin and it seemed to work. But now when I go to Android system recovery <3e> and select apply update from external storage I don't see folders of my ext. sdcard and "cwm.zip", but i see a list like this:
h? ?? r.85/
!h? ?? r.85/
049b? .Fra/
38 @h ?.?? /
[email protected]_h??.?? /
88 @ h??.?? /
8? @8h ?.??
=h ?? r.85/
(and about ten more items with similar names)
Any idea how to install cwm in order to root and install Cyanogenmod?
Strange thing is, that I installed cwm some days ago just with apply update from external storage option, rooted my phone and installed cyanogenmod. But I flashed original firmware afterwards because of sleep of death error. And now I cannot redo the process.
I tried flashing original Firmware again, but the problem stays the same. I also tried applying cwm.zip with adb sideload, but it says *failed to write data 'protocol fault (no status)' *

[Resolved] rooting galaxy ace 5839i

Hi,
I am wondering if it is possible to get root on galaxy ace s5839i by updating updater-script and CERT.SF in the upd_1.zip? Is it safe to do so?
I too need solution for root Samsung S5839i android version 2.3.6
Thanks advance
Hi,
I've root my GT-S5839i with this file :
https://rapidshare.com/files/1846716189/root.zip
- Put the file in the SD card
- Go in recovery mode (Power + Vol up + home)
- Apply update from SD
- Select your file
- Reboot
- You are root, you have the SuperSU app and you can move app to your SD with titanium, this model is including the app2sd in the stock rom, there is nothing to do to activate
And everyone have a solution to flash the stock recovery for ClockWorkMod ?
Thanks

Pushed wrong files with Odin -> bricked?

Hello all,
I just followed this tutorial on my p3110: http://www.verygoodreview.com/tips/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-tab-2-7-0-p3100.html
The tab was brand new before that and I never rooted or installed ROM manually.
The automatic updates were done to Androdi 4.1
Than mean that I put my tab in download mode and used Heimdall to push these 2 files:
gt-p3110.pit
boot-bjr.img
Everything went fine, no error message and the tab rebooted.
But it is now stuck on Samsung Galaxy Tab logo.
As the tutorial is for Android 4.0.3, I justrealised that my tab was already updated in 4.1.
Is there a way to fix that?
Oh God, no need to touch the kernel for rooting! You use incompatible kernel for 4.1.1, the graphics subsystem fail to start. Theres 2 way to fix it:
1. The easiest way: flash P3100 JB 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 firmware, you can download it from sammobile.com
2. Hard way: go to a thread in development section: "Single step..." , flash the latest uploaded file for P3100 using ODIN and then go to KK-Boot thread, flash the latest kkboot kernel for 4.1.1 using CWM recovery. Beware, kkboot is an overclocked kernel!
The big problem is that CWM recovery isn't installed yet, and the device isn't rooted, so I cannot flash ROM.
I am trying with samfirware ROM, but the zip file (700mb???) cannot be flashed: Heimdall tells me "The header contains an invalid size file"
I installed CWM!
Now, the problem is that it sounds impossible to copy a zip into memory
failed to copy 'cm-10.1-20130116-NIGHTLY-p3110.zip' to '/sdcard/': Is a directory
[email protected]:~/Documents/sdk/platform-tools$ ./adb push cm-10.1-20130116-NIGHTLY-p3110.zip /sdcard/update.zip
failed to copy 'cm-10.1-20130116-NIGHTLY-p3110.zip' to '/sdcard/update.zip': No such file or directory
installed CM with adb sideload!
Bootlooping...
I am going closer and closer..
EDIT/ FIXED!
Hope this thread can help other people

[Q] Is there a way to install temporary recovery on SGR

Hi I am a new member on this forum, though I had been browsing this forum for long long time, I had not registered. Recently I had the courage to root and install omnirom on my phone (as my phone is getting old, i was ready to take the chances of bricking my device. I verified my device with eMMC brick bug tester and my device is frees from that bug, probably as my motherboard was changed under warranty). After toying with omnirom, I am back on stock rom. I went to Samsung Service Center and got my factory firmware installed for Rs 225/- (I had taken nandroid backup with epsilon 6.0... version of CWM, but it missed preload partition and restored the backup with philz recovery and my preload partition was erasaed and have to go for SSC).
I have few queries regarding the SGR, please help me with them:
1. Is there a temporary recovery for SGR (ie, can be flashed with stock recovery and returns back to stock on reboot. The zip file has to be maintained on SD card)
For SGS2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/general/guide-root-unroot-stock-ics-firmware-t1501719
2. In order to restore the partition on my own, I tried and searched net for recovery using testdisk and had taken a file image of the SGR internal flash disk. I opened it with testdisk, but testdisk was not able recognise the partitions I tried EFI GPT as suggested and Intel partiton table type and both did not work. Do you know the partition table type for this?
recovery link: http://www.df.lth.se/~jokke/androidfilerecovery/
3. I was just curious if becoming root (on adb shell) is just running su, thought I would copy su binary from superuser zip ro sdcard and run it with the path, but it just runs and nothing happens (I need this to remove few samsung apps esp, vlingo. I plan to do it from recovery -> adb shell -> su and delete apk & odex files).
This has been a great forum and helped me a lot. Thank you guys for all your effort.

[Completed] [Q] How to Install TWRP-KT.ALL.IN.1.zip (Ktoonsez variant)

Need help flashing TWRP-KT.ALL.IN.1.zip (The Ktoonsez TWRP Custom Recovery variant)
I just got a TMob S5 (SM-G900T) on Android 4.4.2 with Build NH5. I rooted with Chainfire's "CF-Auto-Root-kltetmo-kltetmo-smg900t.tar.md5" using Odin3-ver3.07.exe. The "modified stock recovery" gives the following options:
1 - Reboot system now
2 - apply update from ADB
3 - apply update from external storage
4 - wipe data/factory reset
5 - wipe cache partition
6 - apply update from cache
I ASSUME I copy the "TWRP-KT.ALL.IN.1.zip” to my external SD, boot into Recovery, choose Option 3 above, navigate to the TWRP file on the external SD and let it rip.
Is this right?
Can't find either an img or tar file to flash - and am unsure how to flash a zip file for a custom recovery.
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY INPUT!
BTW - I've posted this on [KERNEL][INTL][TW-AOSP 4.4,5.0,5.1][05/02/2015] KT-SGS5 - OB1 - KTweaker 1 2 3 but can't seem to get an answer there - so . . .

Now I found your question in the [KERNEL][INTL][TW-AOSP 4.4,5.0,5.1][05/02/2015] KT-SGS5 - OB1 - KTweaker by ktoonsez thread.
I have provided an answer there.
If you don't get an answer by the dev, you can ask again or post your question in the corresponding Q&A thread.
Ktoonzes is a busy man and the thread is mainly his kernel's thread ... so the TWRP recovery is just a kind of add-on.
Let's keep the details about how to install Ktoonzes TWRP recovery in the correct thread.

[Completed] Can't install CM12 to Galazy S2 I9100P

I've downloaded the latest stable files and followed the instructions here to the letter:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/development-derivatives/rom-cyanogenmod-12-t2955551
But I cannot get CM12 to install. If I boot the phone using stock recovery I can see and select the CM12 zip file but I get the 'Signature verification failed' error. If I use CWM recovery where I can toggle signature verification on and off, it's like it can't even see my SD card. Even though it says that the current directory = /sdcard it isn't, and instead just shows everything on the device internal memory.
Can anybody help? I've been stuck with this for about 8 hours.
I've also tried installing TWRP recovery. This does at least see my SD card and let me choose the CM12 zip file, but when I press the 'FLASH NOW' button, it asks me if I'm sure I want to reboot to recovery and complete the specified actions then does absolutely nothing when I select 'OK'.
Having spent hours trying various different things, I've made some progress and can now at least get CWM to see my SD card and the CM12 zip file. Unfortunately the installation fails with an error 7. I've deleted all of the 'getprop' entries from the 'updater-script' but it's made no difference. Please can someone help?
Thanks to the overwhelming support and advice received on here I managed to get it working
I'm posting this in case anybody else happens to have the same problem and finds this thread. This is what worked for me:
1. Download and install Odin
2. Flash stock ROM
3. Flash rooted kernel (I used one with CWM pre-installed)
4. Update CWM to v 6
5. Perform factory reset
6. Wipe cache
7. Wipe Dalvik cache
8. Install CM12
9. Install Google apps

Glad you found your way,
