Ive been looking on the play store for hours now and searching on google for an app that can download music and/or videos to the phone itself. There are plenty on the store, but they all either am not what I'm looking for or dont work. I would want to just be able to download music or any supported media from (preferably) a built in browser, to a location on my phone or sd card that I can specify. Like maybe I want to download a song from mp3skull or some other file sharing site, I want to just be able to download it from there easily. All the ones I have looked at and tried dont work in one way or the other. I really dont want to have to download what I want on my pc and transfer it over to my phone each time i want to put a song or video or some other file on my phone. I have a GS5, btw. I used to be able to do this on my ipod touch, with an app that was something like this. With that app I could just use the built in browser, go to a file sharing site or something of the sort, hold down the link or video/song, and an option to download would come up, then that media would download into the app and I could view/listen to that content from the app... I want something similar to this, but except I can specify where I want the content to download to, like my music folder on my SD Card. Is there anything you recommend? Again, everything I try on the Play Store that is even remotely relevant to what I want doesnt work... even the big apps with 5,000,000 downloads dont want to work right now, and the reviews dont lie when I actually try the apps for myself.
Do I have more options available to achieve my goal if I root? Im planning to root soon anyways.
Any recommendations, advice? Thanks in advnace!

I use TubeMate for downloading music off youtube, its not on the play store - http://tubemate.net/
Not sure if it supports other websites though
Also, you may have tried it already but this app, DownDroid, can help you perhaps - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.castillo.dd&hl=en
Double Twist or 4shared Music
You can Download DoubleTwist or
4shared music from Google Play
UI of double twist is better than 4shared

Sorry guys, been searching and browsing but cannot find the answer to my question. I am coming back to WinMo after a couple years on Android and on Android there were market apps called iMusic, Music Tao, Music Online, etc. which would allow you to search for songs and stream them or download locally as MP3. Are there any similar apps that have both of these options?
There are programs that read torrentfiles, since providing illegal content is...well, illegal, I won't provide the name here, but I guarantee you that a simple google will do the trick
Also, if you're searching for 1 song, instead of an entire CD: prostopleer.com
Don't mind the Russian language, just fill in the title of the song in the searchbar, hit enter and press download.
--> If this is considered not allowed on this site, please just delete this post, or notify me and I will do so
Thanks for the response. I am open to free, or paid (alternatives to Amazon MP3 app), so I don't see why it would be a problem to share info on the apps that are out there.

Nanogroove in fact downloads the last heard song. You can find it in the root of the SDCard --> groovy.mp3. Just rename it and store it somewhere else. And voila you got the song you just streamed in quiet good quality (128/192kbps).
nanoGroove is amazing...my g0d..is all i can say
I like this russian site prostopleer dot com
seems to work on my hd2 but yes it's only in russian but it's easy to figure out. just type the name and search...
you can use SciLor's GrooveMobile v7 to stream music (not download)
found it here:

how do you use nano? i can't get anything to play or download on my hd2. do you have to go somewhere else to listen to the music it downloads ?

You always need the newest Version IMEDIATELY when it is released (at the moment 1.06) otherwise you wont be able to access grooveshark. Maybe you got an old one running....
I have both nanogroove and scilors groove mobile and scilors gm downloader.
Nanogroove is not a downloader but each song that is streamed is saved on the phone SD card as groovy.mp3. So I simply rename the file and voila, I have the mp3.
Scilor's is much better. Although the interface is bad imo. The streaming app is separate from the downloader. The downloader worked for me. I haven't used it in a while so I don't know if things have changed. search for Scilor's here or google.
Go to HD2 apps blog for the nanogroove. I am too lazy to post the links but if google gives you a bunch of hits just search for hd2apps on facebook.
Hi
Is anyone can write simply application to search and download mp3 from ulub<dot>pl search engine?
I suppose it is not very hard. On the page you are writing some title, then it shows you a list of mp3, you choose one of them and click "Pobierz na komputer" to download
Wouldn't it be easier to just go to the site mentioned than to have a dedicated app for it? If you cant go on that site on your phone, trying using dropbox and download the songs you want and sync them up with your phone. Or just download the normal MP3 Downloader form the market, it works quite well.
My Wildfire is quite slow phone so it takes a long time before the site is completly loaded. Dropbox is too complicated. I can't find polish mp3 using downloader from market.
I just thought it would be nice to have application which can download mp3 direct to phone from this site
just download it with your comp and copy it onto your phone?
Here are all the mp3s at ulub.pl
Just click that and refine the search.
btw, ulub is a bandwidth pig.
hey... zeppelin mp3s lol
@zeppelinrox
This is not exactly what I was looking for, but it's OK. It's faster. Thanks a lot
Glad you like that idea and thanks for the thanks.
You can always just put a bookmark on the desktop to run it quick n dirty and use the browser as an mp3 downloading app
What is a good app to download music? All of them are slow...

This is Music Junk by the way, great app for finding new music. You can stream or download the tracks. It was pulled from the market a while back.

RE: [Q] Free music download app?
While it certainly isn't a low key app I really like Google Music, you can use their storage space for streaming or downloading per device. They offer up free mainstream music for download from the web app-- it seems to get added to and changed quite often so you never know what you might find and you can use their app to stream or download based on what you want to have on your phone, tablet, or watch (MotoACTV rooted). They also have a good store if you can't find the song you want for free. I've read that a search for Free Music Download.apk is also good, but I can't recommend it as it sounds like they may not be legit so at any point *poof* their stuff is gone. MxTube leveraged YouTube and it was great for iDevices in case you're looking for something on a jailbroken iDevice.

I also use Google Music, works great for me.
Anyway, it's not for downloading mp3, unless you buy the music.
You can try GTunes from market for that.
I and my fiance love Rhapsody!! I can download for offline listening when I am on my wifi, and I love the subscription to listen to everything without having to buy anything.

Is it a free app? When it was in the Play Store, was it a paid app?
Would also check out GrooveShark. Pretty sure the app is free if you are only streaming music... tho if you setup a subscription you can offline music and play when you dont have an internet connection.
Use it every day. Pretty sweet!
Thread closed because of piracy/warez concerns.
Does anyone know of any apps out in the market/play store that have the ability to let people add to a playlist that you have playing in your house?
For instance i have a google tv and i would love to have an app that people can open up on their phones and send music they have on their phones to the google tv to add to the playlist, or id even be willing to setup my tablet via hdmi to the google tv if the app isnt google tv compliant. just want to have the ability to have people add songs to a playlist i have playing so they hear what they want,
i know xbmc has a way of doing it but it only scans music on the xbmc host and not what people have on their phones that they want to hear over the speakers.
thanks in advance, and i did try searching for something like this already and was unable to find anything spent the last 3 days searching the web.
guess noone knows of any app that does this? found out grooveshark has collaboration now so that could work but any other app ideas would be great.
I don't know of an all inclusive app that would do this.....but I imagine your solution would involve using a cloud service such as Dropbox. Just make a Dropbox folder that any of your friends can access. Whatever they add to it, will show up on your computer in the dropbox folder. Just have that folder be monitored by your music player.

Hello! I've had this question for a while now, and have searched and searched everywhere for an answer, but can't find an answer, so I'm making this post.
I have recently, a few weeks ago, uploaded just over 1,000 songs to my Google Play Music, with the Music Manager client. I uploaded around 700 songs from my PC to Google Play Music. I got the Play Music app for my Nexus 7, and Galaxy S2, and I absolutely love it. What I can't seem to find out, is how to download the songs to my devices, so when I'm on the road, and I want to use my Wifi-Only tablet to play music, I can easily do that. I basically, want to get the songs I have uploaded to google play, downloaded to my device for offline use.
None of my songs uploaded, are purchased from the Play Store. I have purchased them all elsewhere, and I actually make a bit of the music myself. 80% of my music is from Legally downloaded Mixtapes from Datpiff.com, I do not illegally download music.
My simple question is, how can I download Music from Play Music on my device, to play for offline use? If The Play Music app, does not offer this function for songs not downloaded from the Play store, is there an app, or a program that can let me do this?
I am aware of apps that sync Music Wirelessly over Wifi to your device, but my computer does not have Wifi functionality. I have my music on my Desktop PC. Also, Doubletwist currently does not work for the Nexus 7 Tablet, and also, I would like a way to get music to my device, without having to plug it into my computer.
If you have a solution to my question, please post it! And even if you don't, but can suggest me an alternative solution, please, let me know!
Actually you can download it with Google Play Music but it doesn't stay on the phone (or it's just me, my downloaded music disappear after a reboot for example)
