So I am on CleanROMm 8.2. Yeah a little bit outdated. I have tried all the dialer methods and the creating a shortcut method with a different launcher. The hidden menu option does not appear in any of the activities in both Nova and Launcher Pro. I want to check if my phone is refurbished. (I know random for a phone this old), but I love it. So I want to check.
Anyone have any suggestions?
IOTHiddenMenu exists when I look it up in my apps. Just need to access it.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
if your handphone was root, you can try edit file build.prop in /system
or download app build prop editor in Playstore, and add this
Code:
Property name: sys.hiddenmenu.enable
Property value : 1
Tried editing in build prop. No luck. I also added this property and value. Just can't access the menu anywhere. Not even in shortcuts!
Thanks for the help though!

So I did what you told me and rebooted the phone. I use AnyCut to create the shortcut for IOTHiddenMenu. When I try clicking the shortcut...I get the "Application not installed" message.
I have added the code in build prop editor with the value of one as well.
Thanks

You have to go into
/efs/carrier/hiddenmenu
(No extension, but its a text file)
Change the contents from "OFF" to "ON" and reboot.
Only works on TW ROMs though I think? Could be totally wrong on that, I guess it *is* only an app, and probably doesn't rely on TW framework.
And even then, only certain menu items still work. Back when the phone came out lots more work. Just google around for some codes you need and try them out.

Yeah I noticed it was still there just a minute ago, haven't checked if the app is still in /system/app though. Will report back!
EDIT:
Not there, I guess it makes sense though, its in the /system folder which I wipe when I install CM.

You must not have enabled "root" from the tools menu of ES browser. I think that's an EXTREMELY important folder for imei/efs/carrier stuff and it persists through ROMs, so every gs3 has stuff in it.

What exactly is it you're trying to do? Probably only available from the stock Samsung dialer as a guess, which means only TW ROMs.
Edit:
Just read you're on CleanRom which is TW based.
I don't really know what shortcut you're talking about, but pretty sure the app can't be run/opened like normal apps.
The way you open it is via dialer codes,
i.e. going into the stock Samsung dialer and typing codes such as *#0*# (dont click call/send, it will open automatically) to get to the extremely basic hardware diagnostic test.
Now, the average user isn't supposed to get into this menu, so most of the codes no longer work, since people figured out the ones to benefit themselves, such as the WiFi offloading which gets rid of the annoying "please connect to WiFi network" or whatever that was constantly in the notification bar.
The above code is one of the few that still work, you'll just have to google around to find some that still work on the 4.3 (?) TouchWiz rom.
Other than that, you may just be SOL, since they removed so many.
Good luck!

Here's the new Android Market. And its the one I'm currently using and it has a few updates. Hope you all enjoy. You may need to uninstall the old market updates in order for this to install.
Go to settings/applications/manage applications. Then tap on "all" scroll down to "Market". Tap on the app and select uninstall updates. The install the apk you dl.
http://db.tt/xwRztJu
Also here's the new market in black. Its just the apk so to install it. You must have root. Then use root explorer or a file manger that has root access. Then copy and paste it to system/apps. Then change permissions. To do this using root explorer simply just long press on any app that's in the system folder and select permissions. Then look how the permissions are selected for that apk. Then long press on the new black market apk you just pasted in the folder and select permissions. Then check the boxes as you just seen on the apk that you first long pressed on to check permissions. Then make sure the folder is mounted as r/o which is "read only". You can do this by looking at the top right hand corner of root explorer and it will be a tab that says r/w. Just tap that tab and it will change to r/o. Then hit menu then select exit. Then reboot.
You should see it in your app drawer as "" Black Market""
This is the latest version 3.0.27
Link on last page of thread. If any of you would like a flashable zip let me know.
but it will only be for Ra.1.6,1.7 or Cwm2.5.
Hope you guys can use it.

i couldn't get your file to download - not sure if it's a problem with the file itself, or just IE9. i did find a copy elsewhere tho.
anyway, does anyone know if you can disable update notifications like in the old market (i would go to my apps and settings and disable notifications). i don't see the option here anymore, but didn't know if there was a walkaround to do it anyway?
not that i'm complaining, but i don't like how the reviews aren't in date order anymore - makes it hard to tell if ppl are having problems with the newest app update...hopefully they'll change that in the future.
Is it just me or is anyone else unable to leave reviews/stars on apps? I keep ketting a message saying something like unable to leave feedback at this time or something. I have been having so many issues with this phone in last few weeks I am about to blow it up! lol
Probally ie9. Try a different browser or threw your phone. I just hit the link from my phone and it downloads.

I'm trying to get Verizon Visual Voicemail working on CM10 on SGS3. I have 3 different apk's:
Verizon's Visual Voicemail from the market (pulled from my DInc)
Verizon's Visual Voicemail Nexus from the market (after a few build.prop edits)
Stock Touchwiz Visual Voicemail (Thanks to NoSympathy)
Both market versions install without a problem, but have connection timeouts when trying to verify my vvm subscription.
The Touchwiz version won't even install.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm digging through the apk's to try and find why both market versions time out.
I would try stuff from the gnex since it is built for AOSP

You are correct, however - I think what con's trying to refer you to is what I'd try first - go online and search "verizon galaxy nexus visual voicemail apk", find it, download it, transfer to your phone, and install from "unknown souce". It may work right off the bat, but it may not also. If not, it sure will give you a good starting point with where to go with it since A) its already build for AOSP and B) already built to communicate with the Verizon network.
Good luck!
Rather than beating your head in trying to get it to work you could save the 3 or 4 bucks a month and just use Google voice, is kind of irritating through the initial setup but in the end works well and does the same thing. Just my 0.02

Could you post the apk for the Stock one? I've been trying to get my hands on it since synergy ROM doesn't have it included and now I can't even see any of the voicemail apps in the market. With the Droid Incredible I had to do these steps to get Verizons visual voice mail to work with CM7.2
Use file manager and go to "/system"
Mount the folder R/W(Read/Write
open build.prop in Text Editor
look for "ro.horizontalVvvm = True" and chenge it to False
look for "ro.horizontalBUA = True" and change it to False
save your edit, and back out to thr "/system" folder. Once again switch the directory back to R/O, exit your apps and reboot.
You shoulkd now be able to install your Vvm.apk without it telling you to uninstall it because one is already installed.
Note I am using Virtuous rom however it should work for most roms I would imagine.
If you do not have a Vvm.apk here is one from the Droid X but it works great on my incredible. Looks almost like the stock incredible version.

The stock vvm app installs fine, it just hangs while trying to verify the subscription. I thought it might have been the ro.horizontal.vvm line in the build.prop like on cm7, but that line wasn't even in there. I added it just to see and it made no difference. I switched to Google voice and I'm loving how it integrates directly into the phone app instead of having to run a separate vvm app. Thanks for the post.

Even when it was working on tw, no. Google voice is infinitely better, especially once you have it incorporated into the aosp phone app. The voice mails show up in your call log. Only problem is had was recording my greeting. After the initial setup, it's totally seamless.

otherwise I'd use google voice. Unles there is a way to turn that off.

So i downloaded Ashell and SQlite manager. I am able to navigate to data/data/com.google.android.gsf/databases and located the file called gservices.db. I click on it and open it, then it goes to a screen to select which app i want to use to open it. I see a bunch of other apps the only one that i can even get close enough to edit with is text editor. when you select "gservices.db" in ashell you should get a warning asking if you want to get a copy of the file, answer yes
asqlitemanager should now be available as one of the options to open the db
once it opens the gservices.db select "main"
in table "main" select "Data"
hit "PgDn" until you find the following line "gtalk_vc_wifi_only" and hit edit on the left hand-side
change value "true" to "false" and hit "oK"
hit back button a couple of times and you should get a prompt asking you if yo want to "commit changes" answer yes
before you try to initiate a gtalk over data make sure you kill/restart the gtalk app (you may wanna clear cache and data, doesn't hurt}

Some time ago, I posted an app that would raise the limit on the number of SMS Messages that could be sent before seeing the ever-annoying warning dialog that you text too much. However, this app only worked on JellyBean 4.1 and was very ROM specific, so I set out to improve upon the idea a little.
The "new" app will work on ANY (to my knowledge) rooted device running Android 4.0+ and allows you to set the limits yourself (within reason). Basically, just load it up, set your limits, click apply, and reboot. The settings will stick unless you wipe data or factory reset your device and I included an option to return to defaults if need be.
There is a known problem with the reboot binary on some HTC devices not playing well, so you may have to reboot manually. Please let me know if you encounter any other problems with it and I'll work through them.
You can grab the apk from HERE. There is an identical donate version available from the market if you're feeling generous.

Works great for me! Thanks!
Thanks, my spare phone is doing auto-forwarding duties nowadays and this was just what I needed =)
will this work on rooted Gingerbread (2.3.4) ? - specifically:
Virtuous G-Lite v2.0.1 :: GB AOSP HTC/G2 base 2.16.531.5
Does gingerbread have the limitiation? I know froyo doesn't, I only need this for my Jelly Bean S2.
If GB has a limit, it's handled differently and this won't work on it.

Thanks. It's just what I needed.
Thanks. :good:
Do you know if it's possible to just read the "sms_outgoing_check_max_count" actual value without root?
I'm guessing probably not. The value isn't present in the database unless it is changed from the default. Depending on the device, Android version, and carrier, the default could be stored anywhere in XML or code, so I can't even venture a guess as to the values.

Thank you. :good:
So basically SMS Apps can't do anything about it until google decides to let the default value be customizable (like in cyanogenmod).
Hope they change their mind.
Xenxda, maybe yes, using Xposed.
Xposed seems to need root access on installation because it replaces a file in /system/bin.
Thanks for the great app with free version
PS: If i uninstall the app, will the limit I set using the app will remain?

Thanks for the great tool! For those of us (me) who would rather not install another app, could you please provide the process? I like to do things manually for certain things so I have googled a little bit; I believe it's essentially finding the right file with SQlite Editor and either adding a value or changing an existing one. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks. Seems like in 4.1.* systems, the sqlite modification needed to be made in the 'secure' part, whereas in 4.2.* systems, it needs to be made in the 'global' part. Is that accurate?

This doesn't seem to be working for 4.3
Anyone else have the same issue?

Most likely because superuser is barely working properly in 4.3.

Usually when I connect my phone to my computer, it gives me an option to activate USB storage and I can transfer data between PC and phone. I just installed the latest version of Provision and I can't find any option anywhere on how to link my phone to my PC. Can someone tell me how I link them?
Also, can I reinstall widgets such as TaskKiller? I tried via Google Play and I can't find it on my phone.

For the USB storage. You go into settings/storage then press menu key. Click USB Connection and then it gives you a few options. Click USB mass storage.. Now when you connect your phone to the computer, it will ask if you want to transfer files..

I tried that, it would show the options then they would all close. I ended up starting from scratch and reinstalling Provision and now I'm waiting for it to boot again. It took several hours last time, is that normal and should I expect that again? If not, what am I doing wrong?
EDIT: Nevermind, I got it working. I just had to clear the dalvik and wipe data. I got all of my apps, widgets, and songs back. Noob mistake, probably should've looked into what I was doing a little bit more before I just started installing things, definitely more complex than jail breaking an iPhone/iPod. Let this be a lesson to any other noob who stumbles upon this thread. Don't be cautious with deleting your data, it will be backed up and you'll get it all back. I love Provision, great work!
Since I can't yet post on the original thread, I'll post my feedback here:
•The battery is dying quicker than it normally would with this. I listen to music throughout the day and before I got Provision, it would be at about 80% at this time of the day, but now it's at 60%. I believe the cause might be Ac!d, Dolby, and DPS manager. Also, I downloaded a task manager app (it would be great if you could include the stock task manager for s Blazes, that one is by far the best) and the Play Store refuses to close.
•The pull down menu is a little buggy, sometimes it only comes down a little bit, then shoots back up. The problem is usually fixed over time, but can be annoying.
•I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but I can't install Swype onto my phone. I have a Zip file for it and I followed instructions exactly and it won't install. I tried going to Settings>Language & Input>Default>Set up input methods to find it, but then Settings crashes. If I could make a suggestion for a future update, I think the Swype keyboard would be a nice addition. I tried TouchPal, but it was just an awful experience.

*I deleted DSP manager from the ROM. It can't be AC!D and Dolby because it only turns on when your listening to music. Like I said on the Provision Thread, use different kernels like LZ or Blue lighting. Play store is fine in my end..
*I have no idea why the notification drawer does that. A quick fix is to just hit notifications again then close it..
*Look for a Swype apk. There are apks lying around XDA like the Beta one. To install it, just click on it like any other apk.. If it doesnt install, push it to system/app and set permissions.
I tried installing the update for 3.1 but when I boot my phone I get a constant message saying that Trebuchet has stopped. What did I do wrong?

1. App killers are useless...this is a Linux system not a bloated wincrap.
2. Beta Swype installs fine.
3. Pull down menu is extremely buggy. I have to relock and unlock my phone up to 5 times to get it to pull down.
4. the kernel that came with this is CM10 (i think), so yeah it will drain fast. Install LZ 2.3.6

I have 2 more issues. The first one is my storage. I can't take pictures or make recordings. I just get a message saying my USB storage is running out of space. I can download music and apps, but I can't use my phone's camera. The second issue is that I can't screen shot. I would assume there is a way, but holding power and home don't work anymore. Please help.

Get a file explorer, delete any unnecessary folders cache ,the Lost.Dir folder, clear downloads you don't need should free up a lot of space. Screenshots can be took by pressing power and volume down, or go to settings/ power menu/ add screenshot,

To screenshot use power & volume down button. Or you can just add it to your power menu.

This is what it looks like when my phone says I have no USB storage left. It says to clear my SD card of some pictures, but there aren't much pictures and these bars are barely half full. This is the last thing I'll hopefully need help with.
