[Q] How to update to 2.3.5. - HTC Inspire 4G

Hey guys,
So I want to transfer a file to my HTC Inspire 4g so I can play a game with my saved progress, but I need root access.
All I want to do is to root the phone. I tried using the easy ace root tool, but it didn't work and I read that
the reason is that my phone is still using 2.3.3. I would like to update to 2.3.5. I no longer use this phone, so
I do not have a sim card for it so I can't update it through wifi. Can somebody give me advice on how to
update my phone? Or, any advice on how to root my phone using other methods?
Thanks a lot.

app rooting

What app can in I use to root my phone from my phone and I'm running stock 2.1 and I don't have I a computer, so any info will help thanks
You can't root just with an app. It involves flashing files to your phone ect. What phone do you have? some can't be rooted at all yet I could be wrong, but I think you have to use a computer to root.
I have a MOTO Droid and the app people using to root there phone from there is dm updater

rooting!

just installed gingerbread on my htc desire hd. and now my root has gone. i know VISIONary wont work on this yet so is there any other way to gain root access??
Hard to say. Sometimes official updates are designed by the carrier along with the manufacturer to disable any root access. If it was an update that required a wipe first, then definitely root will be lost.
Sometimes it's better to find a ROM that has a great reputation for frequent updates and stick with them, however, if you've lost root thanks to the latest update then you may be waiting a while for someone to figure out how to root this latest update to your phone unless you made sure to get something on there like RA that will let you wipe the phone and restore from a previous nandroid backup.
Gingerbreak...
hey could u please explain to me how u installed the gingerbread on ur htc desire hd...i have an unrooted one so idk if its possible to install the new gingerbread RUU but my downgrading process keeps failing (CID Error). I've got my phone running on 1.84.720.3...if you could please help me I would really appreciate it.
However, I've read around the forum and people are claiming that you can reroot your phone with Gingerbreak. Im not sure exactly how..im really new to this but im sure you can find out how to use gingerbreak by searching for it...

you mean the CID on making a gold card. how are you making the gold card?? with hex editing or with a software that does it for you?? i found i had the same problem so i used a hex editor, then worked first time. whats your email, i will send you all the links i used
finally got it to work. Now officially running gingerbread have u tried to gingerbreak? Also is there anyway to restore the applications from the SD card to the phone without the apk file?
well im not quite sure about the apps as i havent really messed around with it myself yet :/ i have tried doing the gingerbreak but came across a few problems, but i will carry on and keep trying how did you manage to sort your CID issue??
Yeah finally got the goldcard to work haven't tried to gingerbreak yet...not sure if its worth rooting since I already have gingerbread with sense running...any reason I should root?

[Q]Rooting a Telus Desire HD running Android 2.3.3

I picked up a Desire HD from Telus about a week ago, and stupid me, I got over-excited and did a software update which upgrade my Android version to Gingerbread 2.3.3, which added the OTA update to my phone
Now it seems like rooting my phone is really tough. I don't think Unrevoked has released a version for Desire HD yet, and I can't even temproot my phone using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003 (Gingerbreak seems to just hang, and the other method gives me an ioctl error.
Does anyone know of another method to root a Telus Desire HD phone? Or has that not been developed yet? Feel free to PM me if you need more details. I'm not overly techno savvy, so if you need additional info from my phone, a few steps for me to get you that info will be super helpful!
GoTron
Edit: I should also mention that I tried using the Gingerbreak app, but that one also hangs while attempting to root. I assume the code for the app isn't too different from doing it with adb shell though.
Can't root gingerbread yet.

I get that you can't perm root Gingerbread yet, which is why I'm looking to downgrade my stock Telus Gingerbread ROM. The problem with doing that is I need to be able to temproot my phone first, which is possible on some phones (hence the existence of Gingerbreak and Unrevoked). I'm just wondering if anyone can at least temp root a Telus Desire HD so that I can downgrade my ROM.
Any news on TELUS DHD?
Hi.
Did you ever get answers for your phone?
I have the same phone and would like to "unlock" it. I also am on 2.3.3
I don't even know if it is possible to stick with the TELUS provided rom, but have the device rooted.
Let me know if you have any update.
Also, one last thing, when you attempt to root and it fails like it happened to you, are you left with an unusable phone, or is it just a matter of "reboot" and retry at a later time?
Thanks,
Zoltanar
I would also like to know if anyone has confirmed a method that works or if someone can simply tell me this won't be possible, going to try to do it today and will post up results, but if anyone can let me know their experience it would be much appreciated,
Thanks all.

This tutorial worked great for all who need want to do it.
Edit:after installing a rom on it I've got a usb brick, everything else works though, don't know if this is coincidence or because of the method though.

[Q] Breaking my 4G Sprint EVO

Yeah I'm a noob here and I'm looking to root my phone but I can't find the files needed to root my phone. I installed the current netframe onto my computer, I found the simple root but I don't think it's the one that I should be using. I'm a first time user trying to root my phone, any help is very much appreciated.

[Q] Samsung Epic 4G Touch Root Problems! Any Help?

As the title says, I have the Samsung Galaxy SII Sprint's variation. I rooted my phone when it was on the version before Gingerbread EL29. I used the SuperOneClick method to root my phone and after doing that, 'Superuser' was installed on my phone. Everything was going fine until I accidentally updated my phone to Gingerbread 2.3.6 EL29 via Sprint's over-the-air update. I know it sounds dumb from me but I really knew that if I updated my phone I could mess up my root privileges, but that pop up update was showing up each 5 minutes, that in one of them I accidentally pressed 'install'. Now I have tried to unroot my phone with SuperOneClick but 'Superuser' is still there and when I access an app that requires root privileges like 'Wireless Tether' it says that my phone is not rooted. I also tried to do a factory reset and root again with 'SuperOneClick' but it freezes up (I guess it's because 'Superuser' is still there?) I was also thinking on installing a rooted rom but I don't know if I can install custom roms (I don't know if I have CWM and if it will mess up because I'm not rooted?..) Right now I just want to get the latest rooted stable release possible.. Sorry for extending myself but I wanted to give all the important details as possible as I am new in handling root phones and also in this forum. I will appreciate any help, thanks!
