hey,
I'm thinking buying a case for my SGS.
I have some case on my mind and I hope maybe someone can help me decide which one I should get. If you how much thickness the case would add to the phone and if it provides a good protect to the phone.
the cases are:
1) SGP Case ULTRA SILKE
2) Case-mate Tough Case
3) Tuff-Luv Slim&Lite Silicone skin case
4) PDair Luxury Silicone Case
thanks.
none of the above
well maybe the tough case
but you can get non bran name tough case on ebay for way less
after trying out many cases, i still like the Mesh Case from Korea better good quality build, and looks amazing on the phone
they have a metal look to it, even though it's hybrid plastic/rubber
i have a tough case at home, it's collecting dust, it doesn't look good on the phone
but it does protect the phone if that is what you want
but if you prefer better looks then the Korean have better choices
I recently got the tough case from case mate and it's pretty awesome. It's great because I know that my phone will be protected if I drop it. I'm not a big fan of the silicon cases simply that you won't get much protection from them if you drop your phone..
My only gripe about the tough case is that it does add a bit of bulk to the phone and makes it a bit more difficult to carry in your pocket. That's the trade off for drop protection though

Have a couple of these for my phone. They actually work very well and fit nicely. My phone came with one and I decided to buy another. Nice thig is the more you buy the more color combinations you can come up with. Here are a few pictures. To fin just type (Samsung i727 hybrid) into ebay and search through all the different colors. Not bad for under $10

Cool idea mixing n matching. My girl has one of these on her skyrocket. Good case indeed for the price.
I've seen them, but didn't give them too much thought because they seemed "cheap" in the sense of net being very good. Thanks for the real world update! :good:
I have been looking around for a good case, i had the otter box and its a great case but hard to get in and out of your pocket..... does the rubber on this case make it dificult to slide in and out of your pocket?
I recommend everyone take a look at the Ballistic Case line. I haven't found anything with this much protection. Check the Nexus S variant on Amazon for awesome reviews. TPU backing makes sliding in and out of your pocket a breeze.
The rubber corners that go a bit in front of the screen are without a doubt the best protection I've ever come across. No worries at all about any future drops, the extra few mm of bulk are worth it without a doubt.

I havent found any issues at all going in and out of my pocket. Being the skyrocket is very light (compared to my htc vivid) i would think that drops with this case would be more than effective at protecting it. This combined with a good screen guard is pretty good. Once and a while if you take your phone out of your pocket quickly you will notice the rubber on one of the corners might start to come off but it happens very rarely and its easy to pop the phone back in. I never liked the silicone cases but with this having the solid support that wraps around on all 4 sides it works very well. It also protects to hard keys on the sides and both the charging port and headphone jack. I like it better than the speck case i had for my vivid.
I am very anal about what I buy to protect my devices and I am inpressed with these. I will be buying one every payday until I have all the different colors that I want. I think I paid 7.99 with free shipping and had it here in 3 buisness days. Don't get me wrong though if you are very tough on your phone then I would recommend the Otter Box, Speck Candy shell or the Casemate Tough Series. But for most people these are more than satisfactory. Th rubber on the corners are pretty tough like that of the balistic cases. The case is just thick enough to keep the sensitive homekeys on the bottom from touching your face during a call.

I heavily disagree about Ballistic brand cases being easy to take in and out of pockets....my gf has one for her I727 and it's impossible to take in and out of pockets, puraes, etc.
That being said, that case has survived quite a few nasty falls. The protection is the best I've seen.

I just order 3 of them
I just ordered mine from ebay, but since this case seems to be really thick, what kind of belt pouch holster do you recommend, I guess the one I use actually will not fit?

Perhaps. The in/out of pocket is really a relative opinion unfortunately since some consider any resistance a huge annoyance. I can see the corners being an issue though, especially if you like to keep the phone in front Jean pockets.

To be honest I'm not sure which will fit. I had the otter box and the pt case combo for my inspire and I didn't like either one. Just gets in my way a lot. I like having it in my pocket anyways. Feels safer that way. If you do find one that fits could you please share for other members that like the combo.
They are on Amazon for 7.00 + 3.00 shipping.

Right now, I love this new case, I think it's the best ever. It fit barely in my belt pouch , I don't know what I will do, maybe carry it in my pocket like you.
Just got the 3 I order and I gotta say I love em gonna def order more soon!

Is there a built-in screen protector on any of these cases? Some of the descriptions are unclear, and a built-in would be nice. Having to adhere one to the screen makes my Otterbox Defender unusable, as it would peel the protector off every time.
My mom bought one of these off ebay for her Galaxy S2 and she really liked it. I was considering one for my Skyrocket, but I ended up getting a standard silicone case. I've always had problems with my phone sticking in my pocket. This hybrid case was easier to get in and out of pockets but the rubber parts on the corner did stick a little. After a couple of months, though, I noticed that the plastic part of this hybrid case had cracked in several areas. I'm not sure how it got cracked, because she hasn't dropped the phone or anything. If anyone is interested I can try to post pictures, assuming I can find where she put the damaged case.
I'd definitely be interested in seeing that. I took my Defender off last night (found it was causing some heat issues with ICS) and put a Zagg screen protector on, which more or less rules out the possibility of using the Defender again. I'm torn between one of the other Otterbox cases or a handful of these.
I have this cheapo http://www.ebay.com/itm/White-Kicks...423428?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item2a1fef9d04
very similar type of design with the built-in kickstand. Personally the rubber hasn't given me any issues.
FYI, you can find virtually all of these cases on Amazon for less (including shipping) than eBay. Just search "i727 hybrid". If you're planning to mix and match, keep an eye on the manufacturers. Mybat and Case-Xpro seem to be the same company (or, at least, identical designs), but Dragoncell, which makes the cases shown in the OP, uses a different size of plastic mesh than Mybat/Case-Xpro do.
I'm going to order one Dragoncell, one Mybat and one Case-Xpro and see how much I like each. I'll post results here. I mean, $25 for 3 cases (incl. shipping) isn't much to complain about.
Hey guys,
Recently I bought this and while it looked great at first, it dawned on me that it doesn't tightly fit my device and the bottom part of my Nexus 4 has slipped out of the case a couple times..
http://www.ebay.com/itm/FULL-BLACK-...959490?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item56513a4042
So now I'm hunting for a new case. I've had really good experiences with the Seidio case with my Nexus S, but it's proven to be rather expensive compared to what others have offered. Wouldn't mind going back if it's the only case of this category that is the best fit and protection for the device.
I was looking at the Mybat but was concerned about the actual bulk of the device, and it being easy to remove as I often take off the shell from time to time. Also, no one seemed to comment if the case interferes with headphones with L-shaped plugs either.
The other two contenders are Ballistic and Ionic, heard great things from both but unsure which is better. I did hear that Ionic cases attract lint very easily but I do like its price very much. Not a fan of the bubble-back design though. Heard great things about Ballistic, but like the Seidio case, the cost is making me apprehensive about purchasing one.

I have the iconic and thought it was too thick, so I ordered the Ballistic one and it's even thicker
I'm tempted to try the ACTIVE but I have spent so much on cases it isn't even funny....
Edit...I just bought it on ebay for $24.99 and free shipping.
When i had my gs3 i had a variety of cases including; cheap ebay "tough" cases with kickstands, an otterbox defender (never again), and a ballistic sg. The Ballistic is a GREAT case. It was sturdy, the phone would never pop out, the plastic was nice, and the silicone inner was much better than the plastic inner found on the defender. The silicon not only prevented scratches, but also prevented dust and any other unwanted items in. It almost seals the device. When i bought my nexus 4, i was very dissapointed that there weren't any decent protective cases out. I knew the ballistic sg was coming, but ive had my device since december and needed something for the short term... Something to get so i can wait for the ballistic. I was almost going to buy the case you bought, but i really don't like kickstands. I searched on ebay and found the mybat tough case, I bought it as it met all my requirements; it was cheap, it was protective, it didn't have a kickstand, and it actually looked good. The buyer i bought my case from shipped the case very fast to Australia, (which suprised me, usually these types of cases end up taking about a month) To my suprise, the case was really good quality for the price. The cutouts were (almost) perfect, the fit was pefect, the phone doesn't move about at all. I paid 15 dollars shipped to Australia compared the 70 or 80 odd dollars it would cost me to buy a ballistic shipped. I had the case on for a day, and I loved it...Until I tried to hang up on a phone call... the sensor on the lg is very sensitive, and this case just blocks it enough to stop the screen coming on. This fault was quickly fixed with a drill bit, and since then, i have had no issues, and will continue using this case for the remainder of the phones life. I simply prefer the whole case over the ballistic i had on the s3. However the ballistic was slightly better made, it doesn't warrant even a 15 dollar increase over this case. I love this case. (Note in my pictures the proximity cut out I modified) I did a custom design with sharpie marker on mine and it came out awesome! I wouldn't do this to a more expensive case as id be worried about wrecking it, but since these bad boys are so cheap, who cares. If this broke, i wouldn't think twice at buying another one.
Edit: This case also works with my energizer qi charging mat.
that back is awesome!
FYI the ballistic case works with the LG-WCP700 wireless charging pad. I do however find it is harder to hold on to as it's slippery compared to the Ionic. It's also larger than the Ionic.
I'd go with Mybat (because it's cheap and looks decent) or the Active (because seidio makes a good product and I like the kickstand.)
i also love the look of rugged cases.. been using them ever since my first smartphone
currently i am using this armourdilo case that i saw online.. it is available for sale on mobilefun website or i have seen a seller through eBay AUS...
availbale in a varieety of colours as well although i stuck the standard black on black ...
as well as many youtube vdo reviews bout it.. so i decided to buy it.. really good look and feel..

The case is easier to get off than my ballistic sg on the s3 was. With that said, if i drop it, it doesn't feel as if it will fly apart. The case has interfered with one of my L-shaped head jacks, and works with another.. i just use a simple headphone extender when i want to use those earphones.

I have the ionic case on mine wasn't too sure from the pictures but I like it and the circles on the back aid grip.
I also dropped it from about 5feet and it bounced on all 4 corners but the phone was fine!

i am in urgently need for a case
should be protective and cheap as well
there I said it.
-fits perfectly
-protects, like seriously
-not too thin, not too thick, just right
-not slippery, adds hand fitting design, holds well
-not fugly too thick for the sake of protection
-doesn't cost an arm and a leg
-isnt a lint or dirt magnet
-nothing crazy like waterproof or seethru
-protects your camera too, and front screen
-won't scratch your bezel
I just have to share this as many of you are still wasting time and money trying out diff cases. I suggest getting yourself a Thor first then knock yourself out with experimenting with all the others if you must. but for now, Thor is the best.
other companies really failed us on this one. they just wanted to release cases faster than they can test them out. turning us into guinea pigs.
Im sure that it doesnt have tech21 material on it. Tech21 cases are probably better than any cases out there and it has evidence with videos..
Pics?
I have to agree about the Tech21 case. I have it and it is light years away from the others I tried. Very nice case for the Note 4.
lol so superb
Agreed with LeoNote4 100%. I haven't removed the case since I got it. Much better feel than the Spigen cases. I have all of the Spigen cases and UAG Scout. May try the Tech21 Impact Tactical.
Anyone know if either of these will fit if I am using the OEM wireless charging cover?

at some point, a company has to find the perfect balance over one perfect feature. tech21 major design flaw is it's design. it prides itself and rightly so on total protection of the device. this comes at a huge compromise in design. in addition to that dull appearance, the case also creates a lot of smudge from your hands and fingers. it gets annoying to clean up everytime and it looks too gross to show others.
users would find themselves looking for a case that still provides decent protection, maybe bulletproof is overkill, but just enough safety feature and still covers all the other points. nobody said its perfect in all areas, but what Thor provides is that reasonable balance in design, protection, grip, price without compromising so much on one or two features.
Bought this case in silver on ebay. Selling priced at $23.95(shipping included). This is the best one for the Note 4 so far

Umm except you forgot the fact that its thick and ugly lol. Rinkle slim is my favorite one so far. I mean I got a beautiful looking phone and I'm not gonna put that kind of case on it. But that's just my opinion.

I have the Tech21 Impactology wallet case and the OEM charging back; regrettably it does not fit but it's my favorite case with the normal back cover.
Can anyone using the Verus Thor case recommend, ideally from experience, a good car mount? In part because of the curved sides, it's difficult for me to judge the case's effective width use in a car mount.
TIA

only $16.95 now still worth the money??
I'm still a fan of the Otterbox Defender and the UAG cases. I have used both on my Notes. I don't mind the additional thickness in exchange for protection. I have dropped my Note 3 from chest high onto my concrete driveway with each case and the phone has survived just fine. I have gotten out of my car and forgotten that my phone was in my lap, only to have it drop onto the concrete. No problem!! I have seen all of the video's and listened to the claims of other cases, but I can personally attest to the fact that the 2 cases I have mentioned will protect your investment should you ever drop it.
I'm going to be replacing my old M7 for an M9 pretty soon, and I want to have a case ready for it the second I buy it. I can't decide whether I should get the UAG case, or stick with the otterbox defender like I have with my last 2 phones. The otterbox has only let me down once, when it fell off of holster and got run over by a truck because I didn't make sure it was in there securely, and I don't exactly expect any case to stand up to that. The new defender also looks hideous in my opinion.
That being said, I've heard a LOT of good things about the UAG cases, and I absolutely love the industrial look it has to it.
I work as a mechanic and need to make sure I have a durable case should this phone ever fall, for example, off of a car lift and on to a concrete floor (6-8 foot drop). And in this exact scenario I've never had to worry about my phone when its in an otterbox. I need to make sure I have a case durable enough that I can chuck my phone across a room and not worry about it being damaged, as I can with the Defender on my current M7.
So for anyone that has one, or even both of these cases, which one would be the better option? Does the UAG compare to the defender as far as protection?
And if I go for the UAG, can anyone recommend a good Holster/hipcase for it, since it doesn't appear to come with one like the otterbox?
Edit: If anyone has another case to recommend I'm open to that as well!
Edit2: I also just found this Poetic case, has anyone tried it out? I have a poetic folio case for my Nexus 7 that I really,. really like, but does this offer good enough protection?
http://www.amazon.com/HTC-One-Case-...sbs_cps_5?ie=UTF8&refRID=0JB4GWJ85SBTVCHM61VT
Edit3: And another one I just came across that looks promising, not a brand I'm familiar with. Maybe someone has used this one, or another one similar to it before?

I've always been a commuter fan but sprung for a UAG this time round. While I think UAG will suffice for my needs, I would go for another otter box if I would pick again. Doesn't feel like enough shock absorption in the back of the phone

The UAG case looks 100% better than the Otterbox Defender case, but I have no idea how it would hold up in an industrial environment. I opted for the Defender because its what I've used going back to the iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC M7, HTC M8, and now my HTC M9... And the defender case, despite all its short comings, has never let me down. I am in and out of a semi truck all day, in and out of factories frequently, and pulling the phone out of my pocket quite a bit throughout most days, so I need something protective, not that just looks good.
But, as I said, I have not had any experience with the UAG case, so I would also be interested in the durability of the case in dropped scenarios.
I had UAG on my M7, but for my M9, I'm waiting for UAG to come out with different colors. That is if they ever decide to make them. I like the Aero (blue color) case, so hoping they decide to make that one for the M9. Right now I'm using the Spigen Neo Hybrid for the time being.
I've seen the otterbox and it just looks too plain to me. Just my opinion, of course

Ive heard the UAG is supposed to be pretty durable as far as drop tests, but Im looking for a little more feedback than your standard tech website review of it, rather someone who actually owns it and has experienced it firsthand. Ideally someone who has used both.

I really want to go with a UAG because it looks so much better, but I need to make sure I'm still getting good protection from it as well, because the new defender just looks absolutely hideous.
Also, votes now at 4 v 4, Democracy strikes again.

For my purposes, the UAG provides excellent protection all around. Of course, it all depends on what environment you subject the phone to. In your case, it might be best to try both and make a decision that way.
Everyone will have subjective views on the cases and each scenario will be different. It's just a matter of which case will provide you with the peace of mind you are looking for, and only you can make that decision.
I hope you get the answer you are looking for. I'm sure both cases are great in their own right and both will have their pros and cons. Tough decision for sure.
I Pre Ordered the UAG ASH model for my M9 Coming from the UAG Maverick on my M8. I love the case and I loved it on my M8 as well.
The case looks great and I dropped my M8 enough times to know how tough the UAG cases are. NO Brainer.

Even though I already have the Otterbox, I'm considering getting the UAG as well. The screen protector on the Otterbox usually ends up with scratches after a few months of use, the rubber outer shell loses its shape and becomes lose fitting(although it can be slightly shrunk by boiling it for a tighter fit again), and the inner hard shell tends to have areas that don't snap snug together and creaks when pressure is applied. Its still a very good case but definitely has its flaws.
So, the UAG having the same ruggedness type of design, I think I'll give it a shot, although I won't be able to pick it up at the house for a few weeks. The only con I can see is that the UAG is lacking a holster like you stated. I have no idea if there is a holster that will work with it.
Sorry I am of no help on the UAG case, but I can say the Otterbox gives sufficient protection still, and the look grows on you... but it is no where's as nice looking as the UAG case.

I love the defender on the M7 I'm using currently, but I punched out the screen protector and took it to my local mall and had ghost armor put on my screen. (paid them 5$ to install it because I ALWAYS end up with bubbles when I do it), I absolutely love ghost armor and I'll be getting it done on the M9 when I pick it up as well.

Yeah, I may do that with my M9 when the front plastic gets scratched up. Or I may not do it, just remove the plastic; I never put a screen protector on my M8, and it did fine.
Defender with mod
The day I bought my m9 I went and grabbed the defender case. I like the fact that it's easily available, customer service is good and since my evo3d never let me down. The one thing I do change is the screen protector. I rip the plastic out and put a glass one in because it feels better. But I also know as ugly as some people think it is I never had to worry about using it with dirty hands and messing with colors. It just wipes clean every time. Shade tree mechanic here.
I had a defender on my S4, and same thing happened, fell off my holster, and was run over by a bus. The screen was smashed, but the phone still functioned. I was able to connect to PC and copy files off. The phone when turned on, and on WiFi still receives emails and notifications, just can't use it. I was using it as a way of charging a spare battery for the S4 replacement.
Have a Spigen Neo Hybrid for my M9 and am thinking of getting a defender for it, just to cover the screen.
UAG has my highest regards, I had can confirm their cases are heavy duty. I had one for my M7 and dropped my phone multiple times out of a firetruck so about a 10ft drop and never had a problem. I loved the feel of M7 case. The M9 UAG case looks bada$$ but i just didn't like how it felt on my M9. As for its build I feel it is just as tough as the M7 case.
As for the case I'm using now i got the Spigen Neo Hybrid, its not as tough as either the UAG or Defender case but it feels nice and looks awesome.
I'd go for the Otterbox. The last UAG case I had was a simple one shell design and wasn't very rugged at all. I would imagine the 3 layer design of the Otterbox will be much better for protection.
I always use the supcase alternative, it's cheaper and I think they are better made than otter box. The screen protectors suck but are glued in and just pop off so I replace with a glass one

Is there a separate TPU part, or is it pretty much molded into the harder plastic? The Defender has the solid interior plastic surrounded by the soft cover (three pieces rather than the two of the supcase).

Do you have the defender? If so can you tell me how flush the screen protector is to the screen? The defender on the m7 and m8 both had horrible gaps which made the touch screen much more difficult to use.
Built in screen protectors are usually pretty bad, at least all of the otterbox ones I've had were. You're better off punching it out and getting a separate one.

I got a defender the day I got my M9. Main reason was the belt holster. Working as a mechanic I tend to get sweaty and I hate putting my phone in my sweaty pockets. Holster fixes that problem. The screen guard doesn't have a huge gap, but there is a gap. I can't see it nor does it seem to hurt the way the screen looks but I can feel it when I type.
