So I had the md5 mismatch error and the easiest solution was to use a text editor and delete the contents of the nandroid.md5 file under Clockworkmod/Backup/(NameofBackup).
Well I did that but now when I try to restore I get the md5 mismatch error INSTANTLY, so I'm assuming that just made things worse. How can I fix this?

What were you attempting to do when you received the error message? Flashing from CWM recovery?

Hello,
I'm trying to modify a couple of roms to remove some APKs and add anothers, (Supercharged and Lithium) but I keep getting md5 mismatch, even though I modified the MD5 files with the new MD5 values (using md5sums for windows)
Can you tell me what am I doing wrong / how to force CWM Recovery to ignore the MD5 files?
Thanks
The easiest thing to do is to bypass md5sum checks by leaving the md5 file empty.

It didn't work with an empty file, neither did it without an md5 file

Try to redownload your ROM and try again, sounds like you have a bad download.
You can only disable md5check for backups not for flashable zips.

Ok I am sorry!

I just check the MD5 using root explorer (there are many free md5 checkers), then flash. I believe TWRP also has an MD5 checker...just compare with the one at get.cm.
It is much more likely that you are not properly fastboot flashing the boot.img. Please read the OP of the CM threads to learn how to properly install the ROM.
To flash the boot.img via fastboot was successfull.
Where I`ve to put the .MD5 file on the internal storage? Before i have create a .md5 file with the MD5 Checker.
I can`t find any tutorial or threads for my HTC One S.

Put it with the ROM zip. You can also just look at the file and compare it to the one listed on get.cm.
Ok guys, say you are completely locked out of your phone and all you have on your PC are the nandroid backups, but they wont restore because there's an MD5 mismatch from renaming them.
What utility can you use within windows to regenerate the MD5 file so you can then flash it back onto your phone?
Hello everyone
There has been so much development on our Xperia c and one of the important ones is the CLOCKWORKMOD RECOVERY.
It is very useful in making nandroid bacjups and restoring them when required
This is also for those who feel that md5 checking takes lots of time.Follow this tutorial to disable the md5 check.

But what will happen if you try to restore a backup and you get an error the Md5 Mismatch error.
It happened to me also and after a little tries I was able to sort it out.
I am sharing to help other fellow users of this device.
Here is the process..
1-)Go to sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/[your backup name]/here
2-)Copy the nandroid.md5 file and keep it somewhere safe.
3-)Open the nandroid.md5 in the backup folder file with any text editor and DELETE all the inside contents.
4-)Now save the file and try restoring your backup again.
5-)This will OVERIDE the md5 checks and the restore will begin.
All done enjoy nandroiding...LOL..
Press the thanks button if i was able to help you...

Thanks kdark, but i already tried that. Both versions same error.
Did you find a solution to this?
No, however you can do a twrp backup of all but the data. That worked and I just backup my data with titanium backup.
