[Q] usb debugging - General Questions and Answers

HALLO
There is a all in one guide to updating/rooting the LG P350,I have oneof these but I have no means of accessing the usb debugging as settings is not available to me,I have done a hard reset twice but it does not appear (the icon doesn't come upon screen)
Is there any way I can remove the original vendor android 2.3 and install another generic or special mod??
as of wed 1 oct I can now get usb debugging active

You can root your phone and then install a custom ROM. A lot of developers make custom ROMS for most of the devices out there (and kudos to them!). You can read a tutorial here for your phone here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2162849.

[Q] Adventures in OTG trying to connect 2 devices

I have already hooked up mass storage to the nexus 4. I checked usb debugging and MTP on both devices also checked OTG box in synapses for the nexus 4. Next if possible I want to hook 2 devices up through an OTG power Y cable and push and pull files with ADB essentially taking out the PC for when I mess up and have to flash a new OS. (I have access to a PC just bored looking for a different way)
The first device is a rooted nexus 4.
ROM: dirty unicorns v9.1 android 5.0.2
Kernel version: 3.4.106-hells-doctor-FrAndroid
The second device is a Samsung galaxy tab pro
Stock android OS KitKat v4.4
When I think Samsung is the host the nexus 4 shows up as a keyboard and mouse. How can I make the Samsung recognize the nexus 4 as a device??
When I switch the cables around the Samsung notification shows a media device connected but I can't find it. The Nexus 4 notification shows USB Debugging with the little monster. This is a learning process for me so if I forgot any vital info please let me know so I can quickly update. Thanks for the help and guidance.

Stuck in fastboot

Hello,
I came across a LG G2 D800 and was looking to fix the screen and basically refurbish the phone. However it doesnt boot past fastboot. I am able to get to the stock "recovery" and usb mode but my computer will not recognize it. All i get is the USB device not recognized window. When the phone gets to fastboot mode it says:
[1700] Fastboot mode started
it does recognize being plugged into usb and will continue to give me 10 more lines with random numbers increasing in the brackets like this:
[1700] Fastboot mode started
[1820] - reset -
[1910] - portchange -
[1970] - reset -
[1980] - portchange -
[2440] - reset -
[2450] - portchange -
[2910] - reset -
[2920] - portchange -
[3380] - reset -
[3390] - portchange -
That is when it will stop printing until i unplug and replug the device from the computer.
My computer is currently running Windows 7 ultimate x64. I have tried different driver versions, different flashing tools, and different modes on the phone. each of them come up as unrecognized.
I have searched all over the web and keep coming across people that can only access fastboot or download mode, never both. Im hoping someone can help me here. Thank you. Any input is appreciated.
what is the device listed at in device manager? QHUSB_9006, QHUSB_9008, G2, Android Phone, etc etc.
It shows up as unknown device with mass storage devices

I ran into both the problems you described, though not at the same time, and eventually found solutions for both.
The long list of tons of drives (and no Download mode) is fairly easy to fix thanks to the solution at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-...lcomm-9006-t2939627/post56739916#post56739916
To simplify, just download his premade package for the D800 (he lists other versions in the description of his YouTube video) at https://mega.nz/#!mN0SkDpb!1R36L-F05b8LxXXzcGwBctKgLEACz88X5OuIqwNdezM
and also download and install the Qualcomm drivers from here:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/pba9wajnehr9qwg/Qualcomm+USB+Drivers.rar
In the instructions he shows Computer Management, a Windows tool. If you are unfamiliar, you can find it under Control Panel -> System and Security -> Administrative tools (click on it)

I'm just curious I don't know much about phones in general, just a question

Why isn't it as easy as on the pc ? on pc you just download the OS you want , you make it bootable with a program like Rufus (in a USB drive) you plug the USB on the pc/laptop, you follow the instructions and done. on smartphones/ tablets its too complicated you have to download a custom recovery , and why every rom is not compatible with every smartphone/ tablet?

Installing custom roms and custom recovery maybe complicated at first but once u get the hang of it it wouldn't be as complicated anymore
As with the Android ROM it consists not only of the operating system software ( bootloader, Linux kernel & Android Framework ) but also of a wealth of drivers & APIs, what are tailored to Android device's hardware and its interfaces. Hence it should be clear that not every available Android ROM will flawlessly run on every Android device: thousands of different brands and models of Android devices are on the market, all have different features.
Installing an incompatible ROM, in the best case, makes components of your Android device unavailable ( they are simply not working ), in the worst case, you might "softbrick" the Android device ( it won't even start up ).
