I know, the reasons why there is a 10 post minimum before a noob can post to the developer section of a phone is legit.
But my phone is rare and thus there are few people posting about it with just a few devs that are active.
If I do a search for the phone, (huawei ascend mate) all i get is the threads where I am not yet allowed to post.
I did post a question about my phone being bricked in the section where it was allowed but did not get answers. Why?
Because the devs only visit the dev threads, which are located in the forums of yet another phone, the P6....
So it may be valid to have the 10 post minimum but it leaves me out in the cold!
Now there is a forum dedicated to the mate 2, why not move the mate 1 forum in to that section?
At least that will make the devs take more notice of nooms with general questions.
Feel free to give your ideas on how it should be done here:

Can someone tell me the reason why i need 10 posts to post in developer forum?
Greets
Probably because they don't want people creating accounts and spamming those forums right off the bat. Keeping the dev forums more focused on getting things working than general chat and I need help etc. Just my view on it.
I thought it's stupid too, but after I realised how stupid people can be, I think it's a good idea. Just answer for a few questions here and you will have the 10 really soon.
thanks for posting this question so I can add another post to sum up to 10 or more posts to finally be able to participate where I would like to Rhobuntu on HTC TP2.
So silly - now they move from Ubuntu to Debian squeeze which is what I have running on my computer and next week I should have an HTC TP2 available for development only. Just - I cannot post !
Oh and I forgot the 5 minutes rule...

Don't tell me that!!
I've been posting around Q&A to reach those 10 posts because I want to ask and help on dev forums... :-(
Well, almost there, let me see what topic I can participate and then, if I keep being "blocked" off-of the dev forums...
There are very good reasons why the 10 post rule has been set up, a couple of which have been said above.
Why do you need to post in the dev section anyway? Are you a developer? If you arent and you create a new thread (question) it will probably get moved here.
If you are asking a question, the Q&A is the place
#justsayin
is right to by like this
I meant NOT right
I have 10 posts, why I still cannot post in the dev forum? need to aks about my issue

Because your ten posts were not helpful, they were spammy. And if you have a question, ask it in Q&A NOT Development. How hard is that to understand?
well, the question concerns a curtain app, so I would like to ask in the dev forum , where this ALREADY HAVE BEEN discussed in a special thread.
You might find that some of us here are quite knowledgable and therefore your answer could be easily obtained here without the need to post in the dev forums
Why dont you give it a go and ask here ?
Also, if your question has already been asked, there is in all probability an answer there; so eed to re-post the same question?
I can understand the rule but not your argument. What if he has been using an app that has its own topic in the dev forum and he wants to post a bug report or ask a question that hasn't been asked before. If it's about that specific thing it should go in that specific thread.

yes, you have a valid point. However i was trying to put forward the notion that far too many people post in the dev sections without properly researching first, hence the requirement for the 10 post rule.
Of course the OP may have a very genuine bug to report, if this is the case then can the OP let me know if he still cant postin dev and ill look into it.

not 100% true. I mean, when you use a ROM sometimes you want to exchange ideas with other users, make questions and even report bugs / make suggestions. you may not be a developer but in some way, everyone can be a beta tester! it doesn't make sense to star opening Q&A for CyanogenMod7 if you have a proper place in Developers Forum... And that's why I had to answer 10 things around (useful answers!) to use that section of the forums...
by the way, i don't know if the posts have to be useful, but i had access immediately to the dev forums...
hi, i'm a new user from spain, i need 10 posts to write on developers forums, where is in that forum the noobs place! thanks
I think it's a good idea. Learn your way around before posting/rambling on a devs forum. Think before you Speak.
well guess the builder of this forum tried to keep people stay here longer...or what else?
I tried to post a question about rooting the noot tablet and was told I have to have posted at least ten times here to be able to post there. Why do I see a junior member post with four posts over in the nook tablet thread. BTW not a rookie. I have rooted my Droid and played with ADB quite a bit.
Thanks
Depends on when they joined the forum. That rule isn't retroactive (IE if you joined before that rule, you don't need 10 posts to post in development sections).
Thanks for your response
The rule is meant to encourage people to post in the general section. Its a very widely held belief that the dev section is not for questions, its for dev work, and questions just clog the board and threads. There is no restriction to posting in any of the non-dev sections.

While I understand with the general point of having to weed out the newbies's (and I include myself in that!) general questions/queries, I disagree with the 10 posts cut-off rule entirely.
One example: I have quite a trivial problem with compiling/upgrading certain packages (i.e. compiling and preparing .apk file after altering the source code and patching it) and building the rootfs for my phone.
This is a query only the devs would be able to address, quite easily, as they have been doing this for ages and know this process like the back on their hands.
This query is well-suited to be posted in one of the devs forums in here, but since I have less than 10 posts I can't do it and I am, quite literally, stuck!
It is not very likely that the devs are reading all the Q&A forums as the traffic on these is quite high and single queries like the one above could easily get lost among all the other stuff.
One of the Q&A forums had a traffic of about 6-7 pages of new threads per day, so you can understand why a single message could get lost there quite easily.
I did post my query, but, unsurprisingly, this was not answered.
I know I could wait and "blagg" my way through with meaningless posts to reach that 10 post minimum count, but I don't think this is a proper way of addressing this issue.
My two pence worth, of course.
I agree much with this thread. I dont believe I should have to post 10 times somewhere else that I have no interest in. Im looking to dev on the kindle android builds but I cant do anything but watch what others are posting. I personally believe this is bologna.

No, the dev forums are not there so you can ask the devs to answer your question.
This is exactly what the 10 post rule is there to prevent.
People using dev forums as Q&A forum, because they think they will receive quicker answers there.
Post your question in the question&answer forums, and if a dev wants to answer your question, he will do so, if not, well tough luck!

I disagree - a cursory look at the Android Software Development (Discussion about Android-specific software development) forum shows at least 6 threads on the first page alone started by various posters either describing a specific problem/bug/feature (asking for clarification/assistance) or placing a direct question - see for yourself, go and have a look.
The other point I've made was that all these questions get drowned in the sea with all the rest and the chances of someone seeing, let alone addressing a specific problem are slim-to-none.
One other thing - when I get to test/implement something I've seen in a given dev forum (a package, a specific update zip etc - you get the point) and find an issue/bug or simply wish to post a comment or give a feedback, I can't do that, but have to go and do it in a completely different place, together with all other (unrelated) queries/questions from all other users - do you honestly think that makes sense, because to me it doesn't - at all!

That are the rules that you agreed
The 10 post limit is supposed to be only for the developer section, so why can't I post into the market place section, I need some advice on buying a new smartphone...
Great...and now the forum about buying in the Marketplace sub-forum completely disappeared
PS: Why are there so many limitations? I like this forum but 5 minutes between posts??
After 10 posts all the limitations are gone. No captcha, waiting between posts or restrictions viewing/posting to forums. I'm a new user too and understand that on a forum as massive as this, something has to be done to prevent all junk posts filling up this place.
Just be patient and make some helpful replies in Q&A area.
where do we supposed to reply in this forum? if we make a new thread here, they will closed it. if we reply to the topic that we needed, we are not allowed. what will we do here?
New version for taptalk have this problem .. just try many time it will work

You need to fulfill the 10 post rule first. Most threads are development threads, therefore new members are not allowed to post until the 10 post minimum is met. This doesn't mean go and make 10 spam/junk/worthless posts either. Someone is always watching for this kind of behaviour.
zerovirusity said:
to all members here, although we are newbies here, we are aware of the rules in this forum because i am also a member in some forums. i hope you will considerate us. we chose to be a member here because this forum has a lot of things that we needed and some answers for our questions. if that's the case that we need to post 10 or more than posts, then please allow us here to post. don't closed it first until we reach 10 posts.

Threads are only closed for irrelevant posts/spam. Make a worthwhile post and it won't be deleted/locked/removed. Pretty simple really. Everyone needs to bear in mind that this forum is intended for developers. Which 90% or better of you are not.
There are already plenty of threads that discuss this topic, so we don't need a new once (hence the closure).
One of my favourite reasons for the 10 post rule is that it encourages most users (the less spammy and needy ones) to spend more time reading than trying to post in development forums. If you do spend enough time reading you find that 99% of your questions have already been answered, and you learn a hell of a lot and start being able to answer questions yourself. That's a great way to take part in the community as a contributing member. In fairness, if you come here to leech and not participate then you're not adding anything to the forum.
Anyway, if you want more info then see the link in my signature about 10 posts - that should answer more questions
Will somebody Plz care to explain what is the Concept of being Eligible for Posting in Developers Thread only After posting 10 Posts:crying::crying:
I don't understand
For Example, If i have a doubt about a Rom and want to post in respective Thread, am not allowed to.. Am allowed to post only in General Q & A Section. It is very difficult to get Answer. Some People are kind enough to respond to PM, Otherwise it is hell of a Job to get an Answer.
What is the use of posting 10 posts which are not usefull only to get a Usefull Answer

It is to make sure that people don't post anything they want to as soon as the get an account. It is there in an effort to avoid new users from posting wrong threads and questions in the development section. If you want to read more go here

You said that you have to post useless posts and other things to get to being able to ask questions in the dev threads. Well the 10 post rule was made so that you could contribute to the community in the q and a sections and so forth to get your 10 posts.

Thanks for Clarification. I still see people asking so stupid questions in dev's thread inspite of their coverage extensively in many thread, But they are allowed to post for only they have completed their quota of 10
And regarding contributing to community, I think am at Kindergarten level in a Hidh School
