Hey... I recently own a Ms surface.. after a couple of days been working with it, I suffered a music app problem. Every time I try to open the Xbox music app, it won't take me to the music store anymore. At the first week, I was able to access the Xbox music store in the music app, but nowadays I could not access it anymore. Now evertytime I open the music app, it always show "it's lonely here...."
I have set my location to United States, but it doesn't show the music store.
I attached a screen shot bout my music app.
Anyone could help me to fix this or to bring the Xbox music store back in the music app of my surface?? I really appreciate your help guys...
Thanks

I don't like the Google Play Music application much, so basically what I was wondering was if I could play kept google play music songs and albums in another player such as PowerAmp somehow. From what I have seen there is no way to do this because google incorporates some sort of DRM in all of their music files, which makes sense, because they don't want people just copying and pasting kept music files that they didn't actually buy. I have determined the location of the saved music files to be in "root\data\data\com.google.android.music\files\music" if I am in the wrong spot please let me know. I have pulled the saved music files (MP3's) from this location but can not manage to play them in any music player. I also tried running them through a converter just for the hell of it but the converter instantly crashes when I try converting the file. I don't think there is anything that can be done about this but if anybody has any ideas please let me know!
not possible. stop trying
I don't think you can get them from your phone but you can most definitely download the songs to your computer as regular mp3's. You can then put them on your phone and use any media player.
on a desktop/laptop, open google play music. pick what songs you want, then press download. the downloaded songs that you got using google play music desktop can now be played in other music applications.
Even still...if you have not purchased the song, you cannot download it. All of the music in "My Library" that you've uploaded can be dl'd but not songs you randomly hear and "Add to my Library"
Unless I'm doing something wrong....
You can not download music on a pc unless you have purchased that music. On the android application there is however and option to download music to the device in a hidden location (root\data\data\com.android.google.music\files\music). You can download them, but like I said they are encrypted or have some sort of DRM incorporation so you can not play them anywhere but within the play music application. I don't think it's possible. I just wanted a few opinions on it.
Hey all,
so I've been noticing some issues with using music controls for both Google Play and Poweramp. I use Poweramp for my everyday player and would prefer it worked with the Gear 2. However it does not display track information correctly, instead it only displays the most recent video played. More importantly, there is noticeable lag between button presses and skipping track, it makes scrubbing through an album difficult. Google play works better, much quicker and responsive and it displays track info, but you are unable to skip forward or backwards if you hold down previous or next, as you're able to do with Poweramp. I've messed with settings in Poweramp, made it high priority in bluetooth settings and disabled the beep option for track skipping and it is still very slow in response. I've also enabled all the bluetooth track info things and it still doesnt send the track. I'd be happy, I guess, if I could only get it to respond as quick as Google Play does. I dont see using google play though because of the inability to seek through tracks. I've updated play music with no success, still no scrubbing ability. It's frustrating. Any thoughts?
UPDATE: In case anyone else wants it to work with poweramp, apparently you need to have google play NOT disabled. And you should start music via poweramp instead of the gear and track info will be sent. Responsiveness is still very slow and laggy. As much as I hate Play music, if only it would be able to skip, I would switch over to it for the gear. But at least Poweramp can skip and display track info if you havent disabled Play Music. Hopefully the poweramp dev can make it work quicker but I'm doubtful. It really flies on Play Music. A shame.

+1 with displaying most recent video played. For me, I mostly want it to work with Spotify, and have run into the same problem you have. Best we can do is wait for Samsung to iron out all the kinks.
This appears to be a similar issue on other devices as well. When you press Playall on an album in google music store, it skips all songs and doesnt play sound. On amazon mp3 store, it just doesnt load the mp3 samples and refreshes the same page. I want to listen to a song before I buy it. On the shield portable everything works, so the issue is with the shield tablet software. Its like it needs a plugin or something.
My wifi is 130mbps after update, I have no cracked edges, found a Fintie tablet cover on amazon for 7 bucks. All is well but now I just need an update to fix the problem with the OTG Y cable not charging simultaneously when connected to ethernet or anything else. I would buy this tablet again.
Glad I'm not the only one... Google Play App Videos are not playing either.
Videos within Google NewsStand also don't play.
Can't get SoundCloud embeds to play either ?
It's a know issue, which they are working for the next ota.
Can anyone tell me if the gear s3 is able to stream Google play music? Or is compatible with the Google play music app??
I think it should be working on any default music player on device, as mine can control the spotify without any problems
I can control the music from my phone while it's playing music via Google play but I don't think it can stream directly to the watch. I was glad it's able to do that at the least. You can play, pause, and skip songs, view the song list, and even control the volume.
Spotify will be released mid December for our watches

I have a personal beef with Spotify. (Somebody hacked my account. They can restore playlists, but not my "Liked or Added" music. Apparently those aren't playlists. Long story short I lost about a year and a half of collected music. So yeah....
Anybody know if there is word or intent to bring GPM to the S3? It's nice to at least be able to control the music with our watch when it's playing from the phone, but, would be REALLY nice if I could just leave the phone at home and stream GPM while out and about. Kind of why I got the LTE variant in the first place.
Furthermore, does anybody know if spotify and potentially GPM, will use up the data allotment or will that also fall under tmobiles free music streaming thing?

I would love to know the same, I just got the subscription for Google play music and don't want to be tied down to just Spotify.
And with the data, my plan on T-Mobile is unlimited everything, for just $5 more than the 500mb plan. I'm not savvy on their plan details as I have only been a customer since Wednesday.
I can control Play Music from my watch with the music playing through my phone speaker. I haven't tried using the watch speaker.
Same issur: would like to take my gpm playlist standalone on the s3 for workout amd peave the phone at home. Until now not possible. Except maybe by physically downloading the playlust to sd card of the phone (i think there are apps for this) and then transfer to s3 via gear companion app... Complicated.
Come on guys - its never going to happen. This isn't like iOS where there's a huge market lead. And without an api there's no way for someone else to code it as well.

THere is an API that at least someone knows, you can download any song in your library (even subscription songs) using an app on the play store called Cloud Music Importer. If you can view your library, and download the songs, its got an api.

Can you select a playlist from your watch? I like this feature on my Android wear device and it would be nice if the Gear also can do that.

Here's a screenshot of what it can do. The phone looking icon changes audio source from phone to watch, and the open app option allows you to see the list of songs in your current playlist. I don't see any option for selecting the playlist though, its always showed me the last song that I've streamed.

Okay thank you
Download the app Music Mate to your phone. It lets you get the songs off of Google music as standard MP3 files. You can then Port them to your phone.
Music Mate is free for a few songs and then there's a fairly low purchase price for unlimited downloads.
Yes Gear S3 Streams Google play Music
YES -- absolutely -- by default
Is there a way to save downloaded music from Google Play Music to the Gear S3?
Save only phone

How do you then get the music onto the watch?
My GWA2 only has an option to 'automatically sync' in the Gear app. The problem with this is it brings over all the voice messages from my Telegram group chats, and also the tracks I use to sleep to (10 hours of white noise) which basically fills the watch up immediately.
