Z3 - Different DPI from Z2, Bigger icons - Xperia Z3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just got the Z3. Pretty happy with it, other than a few minor gripes.
1) On the lock screen, I hate the clock, the way the hour is in bold and the minutes in normal font. In Z2, the hours and minutes were in the same font and i loved the minimalistic clock look. Any way we can get that on Z3?
2) Somehow, the icons on the homescreen for the applications, they look bigger than they looked on the Z2. The smaller icons looked sexy on Z2. Did anyone else also notice it or I am just imagining it? Didnt see any single post or thread on these yet, so asked.
Regards,
Pdash

Confirmed; icons are a too large. And I also dislike the looks of the clock display.

I think it's personal matter, I like new clock style,it reminds me cyanogenmod
And also new bigger icons are there because Sony wants to be closer to original android and in pure android 4.4.4 icons are bigger

try use other launcher. i m using nova launcher.
at 1st when i c the icon, so big? after change to my preferred launcher, its back to normal

Yes, ofcourse. What i wrote were my personal preferences.
4.4.4 has large icons heh. Guess, that explains then.
Thanks buddy.

Z3 dpi same as Z2. Just bigger icons, lower columm... Z3 status bar thick same as Z2. Same to almost other layout components

Thin buttons column + smaller icons = a more sexier Z3 <3

Ugh, one of the main reasons why I'd love root is to change the dpi (and navigation bar height, real waste of space as far as I'm concerned).
Using Nova in combination with smaller icons (at 70% now) makes it ok for now but still... Settings screen with big items and stuff like that.

Changed DPI in Z3 to 320 (in build.prop) - that triggers the phablet mode and looks fantastic. For individual settings use App Settings xposed module. Super happy now
Home screen before - set at 370DPI - mind how to Launcher is keeping limited border

Now the launcher home & drawer at 320DPI
With use of App Settings you can leave generally 320DPI and adjust individual apps if they seem to small, or vice versa, leave general at 370 or whatever suits you and limit only SystemUI and Home or just home at 320DPI.

Bro how to get the setup likeyours, 5 app on one grid.
I already setup to 370dpi but only shows 4 apps

5x7 Rosie - WARNING: No Widget Mods!

This is just a simple tweak to Myn's Sexier Rosie that gives a 5x7 workspace. I have NOT made the standard edits to the various HTC widgets, however - it is more intended to be used in conjunction with Desktop Visualizer and other similar widget programs. HTC Widgets will be truncated and overly small unless edited to fit the 5x7.
So if you like Launcher Pro or other similar launchers, but want the speed of Rosie and don't mind working without 5 launcher bar buttons, hereya go.
As a side note, if anyone has an idea on how to program 5 launcher bar buttons in to Rosie, please contact me, I'd love to chat.

<edit: I should probably mention that the rosie graphic included here was designed by DG4FREE, and uses my Steel on Glass text icons.>
Sounds cool can't wait for widget mods.
I really want to try this; but how do I install it?
I tried mounting system as r/w through SUFBS, but no go.
Do I need to push it via adb or something?
Thanks!
UPDATE: I tried adb push to system/app ... but now I don't seem to have Rosie at all...

OK, this should do the trick for WarmZ, please let me know if it works, and I'll then update the OP.
Sorry ... it FCs upon launch. Don't worry about it. ADW gives me 5x7 for now...

Hereya go. Again, this is Sense, not Sense 2. The widget in the bottom left is mClock 4x2, next to Circle Battery 1x1. The line is actually two 1x2 widgets with Desktop Visualizer and a custom graphic. The text icons are 2x1 with Desktop Vizualizer, and there are also two clear 1x1 DV widgets just above the clock.
I use the two line widgets for gmail and sms, and the two clear widgets for alarm and calendar.

Will be great when authors let users delete Baidu's search widget and optimize RAM usage. Until then I'll be using QQ launcher which is similiar but has less features.

Unfortunately is laggy for my X10
The 360 launcher lags on your x10 device but does not lags on my x10 mini pro
Sent from my U20i using xda premium
And 360 doesn't have scrollable widgets.
if u could you might want to try and fix the brightness, if u change it using the built on widget or one built into your slide down status bar that only changes the launcher thing.
its nbd but only real flaw i see
this launcher is a keeper
Possibly one of the best launchers but i dont like the icons.
Using themes icons are small. and why it says APPS in appdrawer
Came across this a while ago. I like most of the features, but the app launch transition irritates me - despite having the ability to customise page transitions and app drawer transitions, there's no launch transition option, so it's not quite my cup of tea yet.
It's the launcher from a very nice rom. DX OS. Available for quite a few phones. Also have other apps on market from the rom. Search for Tapas Mobile.

Used DxHome for a few hours , 2 things i don't like about it , can't remove search widget from 1st screen & the home-screen transitions not very smooth (a bit laggy) on my SGS II i9100G !!
I appreciate the overall appearance of the home-screen & i also loved it's default icons !!
I used to have 3.0.4 and 3.0.9 versions on my samsung galaxy s i9000.
However 3.0.9 was the last version that ever worked well for me. Since this version all I get is very slow app drawer

[Theme][UI Concept][UCCW] Facebook Redesign inspired UI Concept

Hey folks,
I am pretty sure many of you have seen this amazing facebook redesign concept and I thought I'd make a new Homescreen UI based on it - I think with the big screen of our galaxy note, it's a cool Idea. However, I am neither really good at photoshop nor at using UCCW and right now the problem I got is, that I am not able to resize the UCCW correctly.

}
I am using Nova Launcher ATM and no matter what grid size I use or what size I set the UCCW Image, it never goes fullscreen. Maybe it is due to the new update? Any hints are welcome, right now either have to use SSLauncher or as a wallpaper with transparent shortcuts...
Well, I will be uploading my UCCWs here and if any of you is interested in creating some UCCWs based on this redesign (Like a themed calendar, music player etc. etc.) would be cool if you post them here. I am sure there are many better themers than me out here
Greetings
I've got an idea on how to share your theme easily with others. Use buzz launcher, add in your uccw stuffs inside, and share. Other than that its free
I have already used buzz launcher but it is too laggy and unstable in my opinion. I can upload the uccw already but well it doesn't fit to full screen so thats kinda bad atm, I cant get the scaling right ! (and also I want to make it somehow customizable for you guys so I gotta remove my profile pic ofc )
I will upload some more concept stuff tomorrow, watched the DFB Final today and I am pretty exhausted now... if you want to have a glimpse at my work with SS Launcher, you can check it out here, with many tutorials and files already:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1819644
Good luck with that mate waiting your work :good: btw where that new facebook with the redesigned UI ?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Here is a ZIP-File with the PNG's, maybe someone manages to resize them correctly for UZIP... but as far as I've seen, many users complained about the new update making widgets too small.
The Icons are from a paid icon pack called "Retrofied" btw, made by screenlicious, check his work out:
http://www.screenlicious.com/shop-2/
Also many free icons! I will continue working on some more tiles, stay tuned...
Greetings
Here's another UCCW, playing around with the Tiles UI...

Native DPI Scaling

Found this post in the regular Verizon S7 section thanks to @jayochs. Cool little hidden feature and seems to work great so far. This will change the DPI from 640(stock) to about 540dpi. I'll show a few examples below, but the article will show even more and tell you how to do it.
Check out the XDA article located here :

I am used to altering DPI with root access, so this find was a godsend.
You can alter DPI through ADB without root access, btw.
This is good though. Could go lower though. I have text size at the lowest settings and turned this on. The notification bar is still a little too big.
Not sure if its worth screwing with though
I did this with Nova Launcher and I really like it. Definitely helping the S7 edge grow on me a little more.
I did this with Nova launcher as well but it didn't seem to stick for the touch wiz launcher. Everything else is condensed
Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk
I really wish they had a Super Condensed mode. I'd like to run it around 500.
I do like having this to be able to quickly (with one reboot) toggle back to a density that will allow Samsung Pay to work.
After doing this with Nova Launcher I noticed that I don't have smooth scrolling when I hit the recents button
Just FYI to those who don't know... you can change your DPI through ADB without root.
I feel the condensed mode and already low stock DPI is enough.
The 7 Edge has 5.5" @ 640 DPI
The LG G4 has 5.5" @ 640 DPI
The Note 5 has 5.7" @ 540 DPI
Add condensed mode and its smaller. So I am happy with the stock/condensed values.
Doing this also kills android pay which socks, I want to reduce DPI but still use android pay
I switched to condensed DPI and Android Pay is working for me still.
Edit: Nevermind. Tried adding a card to it and says nope.. :\
HBO GO working for anyone else after changing dpi?

Custom wallpaper made in Inkscape. It's Humphrey Bogart eating a hamburger with a hot dog in the other hand.
The icon in the bottom right corner is a folder.
Same for years first page on all my phones. I like Pixel 7 Pro default wallpaper. Which launcher you using? Is there issue with geatures and switching apps?
Same home screen for years, always with Nova Launcher Prime, I didn't changed anything on the P7P (and I hate navigation gestures)
Nova 7 launcher with flight pro icon pack. Haven't used any mods yet to play with status bar or anything else.
Nova Launcher, You icons and wallpaper, KWGT
Nova prima with some Kwgt. I like it minimal(icons are also folders).
Like to keep things simple.
Thank you, there are some really nice looking home screens out there, here's my screenshot.
Simple and clean

I keep using the same exact layout on every device I own. Packed with as many shortcuts as possible for a quicker access
Edit: The 2nd picture is the same home screen after a bit of New Year's cleaning
Dynamic island pill notification with smart launcher.

Love the wallpaper, I usually have a similar theme on mine.
I prefer less, being a minimalist. But I also root so I have full control over everything including theming.
AOSP Mods, Pixel Scratched icons, Nova Launcher beta 8
From left screen to right (3 screens) and pulldown...
Same setup for years, but I regularly only use 3-5 apps in a day, so the minimalism works for me
