[Completed] [Q] rooted s2 i91oop but is asking for sim network unlock pin? - XDA Assist

so im pretty new at this and am learning, so i used this guide ,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/general/how-to-root-stock-recovery-t1994544
the second method, and it went fine ive checked with check root and i have root access and the super app is installed too, but i cant use my virgin sim card as it says sim network unlock pin, unlock or dismiss, i thought once i followed that guide it would accept any sim card?
heres some more info
gt-i9100p
firmware 4.1.2 - it was from stock by the way
i9100pxxls8
kernal 3.0.31-1246097
build jz054k.19100pxxlss
this was before i used the guide by the way, any help much appreciated, thx
so far ive tried galaxsim unlock and the one by helroz, neither worked, not sure what to do now

Hi,
Asking in the thread you linked is your best option.
Good luck!

well i used the galaxsimunlock and it worked so im very happy, can delete this thx so much to this forum, this is my first smart phone, it took me all night to find this solution, but also had to mess around installing all sorts of things to root the phone, things are never as simple as they should be either, had to install drivers to make adb cmd work and only certain ones worked, but now i got to try fix this battery draining problem

Great! This is your device section, for future reference..

Did you try inserting "a SIM card not attached to your current provider (e.g if you have T-mob use an ATT SIM CARD) and turn on your phone?" (credit sanfranx415 post) edit: maybe try a different gsm carrier in the same country you reside.
From what I have read and understand different versions of busybox will work or are compatible for different things (maybe somebody will tell me if that is not accurate).
Here is a video that might help.
Good luck!
Try contacting t mobile and tell them your going overseas for a few months and want to take your phone with you and is there a way to unlock it so it can be used in another country.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
When you insert the sim card and power up the phone, as you unlock it it should give you a network lock screen that only lets you use the phone after inputting the unlock code.

[Q] Desparate!!! Sidekick 09 LX help

My problem is that i got the unlock code from this phone from t-mob, however this particular phone that i got someone was messing around with it and was able to by pass the unlock code notification which i really need right now to put the code... couple of things that i need help with....
1. How do i manually enter the code if the notification is bypass if there is no way then
2. Is there a way to get the firmware or OS installed again so whatever modification that was done will be taken out and hopefully the Unlock Sim notification will show up again.
3. Is there any flashing tools for this and well connecting to the second question i guess firmware or rom....
Advance thanks to all
------------
EDIT:
I've done Master or Factory Reset still doesn't show up....
What i got is "SIM?" then "?"
I've also tried to the the method for att where you do some sim pin things, the thing there is that the sim pin isn't bein recognize for some reason eventhough i know it.... all attemp fails...

Rooting my T-Moble G2

Hi,
so I have been trying to root my T-moble HTC G2 with the guide found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448887
I have tried many options so far and I have de-bugging on but when I start to put in the code, it can't find my phone. also I do have z4root on my phone but that wont work either.
I think I am missing some adb software but im not sure, this is my first time messing with my phone and I am very lost and all I really want to do is download apps from other countries apps stores.
any help is really appreciated thank you!

Cannot seem to root/unlock my SGH-T769

I'm a little lost here.
Phone specs
Android 2.3.6
SGH-T769
I want to root/unlock the phone.
I followed this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1919228
Then I pop out the T-Mobile SIM card and insert the StraightTalk SIM card -
However, when I follow this procedure, I still get the 'Enter Network Unlock Code' :cyclops:
What am I doing wrong? The reason I ask - I have another phone of the same spec, but I updated the Android OS to v 4.0.4 and it worked like a charm.
Silly question - but is the above procedure ONLY for Android v4.0.4? Can anyone shed some light for me? I'm clueless. I don't wanna screw up my wife's phone. :crying:
Thanks - G

You need to contact T-Mobile for the unlock code and you posted in the wrong place. It should be in Q&A.

Don't want to burst your bubble or anything, but he did post in the right section. The Blaze doesn't have a Q&A
Still Unlocking Woes!

Hey - so, here is what I've done. I've brought this thing back to the T-Mobile stock image.
I'll admit - I'm a little lost.
Questions:
1. Do I need to upgrade the firmware to root/unlock this device?
2. if no, can someone perhaps point me to a thread as the only one I can seem to locate is the unlock for v4.0.4
3. if yes, I seem to have changed something and Kies will not let me update it.
4. also, if yes, I am wondering if I can update it using Odin.
Thanks for your help!

Rooting and unlocking are two different things. Rooting is more like freedom to what you do on your phone, like mod and tweak it. Unlocking on the other hand is to use on any carrier you wish to use it on. To unlock there is a guide somewhere in this forum (which you should be able to find).

Hey! Thanks much for all of your suggestions. However, I need to tell you that I was the one that phoqued it up!
It was my wife's phone - SGH-T769.
Like I had said in a previous post, I was getting a 'network unlock code' - sigh.
I followed the exact procedure - to the letter - double, and triple checked my work . Still getting a 'enter network unlock code'
She came home Sunday afternoon, I was still fiddling around with it. She looked at me and said ".....do you think maybe it's a bad SIM card..? I'm not technical, but you've tried it on two phones of the same make/model..."
I looked at her like "...holy ****e..." - I looked closely at what I was doing. Guess what?
When you purchase the Straight Talk kit, there are 4 SIM cards in there - two micro/nano SIMs and two standard sized ones. The one that worked for my SGH-T769 was the orange SIM card - I was trying to use the gray one with hers.
This, my fellow Nerds, is what is known as an Epic Failure on my part - one for the Wall Of Shame for me. My wife has a degree in Criminal Justice and I have a degree in Comp Sci and Mech Eng. I guess skoolin' can mean absolutely nothing sometimes!:cyclops:
Problem solved - thanks to my wife - I think I'm gonna keep her around. Girls don't have the killer instinct and perverted mind that us guys do, so their brains can function a little more clear than ours can.
The frustrating thing - she is right 9.5 times out of 10. I just have to accept in lots of aspects that she is smarter than I am.
Thanks Bugs - Love ya!:highfive:

Rooted or not rooted? Lost & confused

I bought a Verizon Samsung Galaxy s7 off craigslist am-G930V, I was told it was already unlocked as Verizon phones are already unlocked out of the box, I put in my metro sim card& I get nothing
1) the start up screen says custom and shows an unlocked padlock what does that mean? Does that mean it's rooted?
2) I've tried several different root aps and root checker apps &several have come back as rooted I also tried the device health check option I found through a Verizon app that cane on the phone that also said it was rooted but the original root checker app says "sorry root access is not properly installed on this device . So what do I do I tried flashing the supersu zip & I get "Error in/sideload/package.zip (status255)
Is there something I can do to fix it?
Is there a way I can find out if it's rooted or not other then root checker.
Also what needs to be done to get my sim card to work on this phone also?
You need to spend a day reading a lot of threads my friend, it seems you don't have any knowledge about root or how to achieve it, all the info you need is here, don't just blindly try flashing things, read.
I already knew that part, what i need to know is what do I read what do I do? If it's all here point me in the right direction
If you're looking to be spoon fed, that won't happen here, open some forums, read some threads, doesn't take a degree to find things if you take the time to read rather than expecting people to do the work for you.
I have been looking this up and reading for about a week.
The person I bought this phone from I think may have rooted it but I'm not sure if and what they used to do so. I'm thinking they attempted to root it but didn't complete the process.
Now with the sim card after I insert it wouldn't my next step be to go to mobile networks in my settings?
When I do that instead of the standard opinions of network operators access points ect. I only have two options data roaming and access points.
I've tried adding a few different apn settings & still nothing.
I'd like a little bit of help someway somehow
Root has nothing to do with SIM locks, if the phone doesn't accept the SIM it has absolutely nothing to do with being rooted or not, and no that padlock doesn't have anything to do with being rooted either
Since you already posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/help/s7-help-t3517647, this is a duplicate thread.
