Best ROM/Kernel threads are not allowed on xda. Your best bet, and what everybody SHOULD recommend you do, is just keep trying different kernels until you find one that suits your needs. Everybody's usage patterns are different and what may work for some doesn't work for others. Nobody can tell you what's best for you because they don't know how you use your phone. So again, just try 'em out till you find one that works for you. It's not like flashing kernels is hard or time consuming, so go to town.

LiquidSmooth is an AOSP based ROM so it will work with AOSP based kernels.

Stop being lazy and read? The OP of a ROM thread will tell you if it's AOSP based or CAF. Same goes for kernel threads. The OP will tell you if it's made for AOSP or CAF ROMs. Next time put in the effort and do a little research for yourself instead of expecting people here to spoon feed you. If you're that worried about boot loops, just read for maybe 30 seconds and it wouldn't be an issue...

You're welcome. And fyi- it's damn near impossible to actually brick the N5 so you're safe. If it bootloops, flash another kernel. And make a nandroid before you start flashing, and you're fully covered.

Liquidsmooth has their own kernel in the Rom. They are using the kernel called UBER. So if you find that the kernel included with the Rom is not working well for you, you need to download the stock 4.4 kernel. I will find it and post a link here for you. You need to flash that. It will save you from other kernels conflicting with UBER kernels heavy optimizations.
Here is the stock kernel. https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358542125

Why the change? Best threads have always evolved into flame wars. Some kind of sociology experiment on XDAs part? I hope I'm proven wrong here and people can stick to objective facts rather than emotional based opinions.

he's looking for the original stock froyo kernel that came with the stock rom, not a kernel FOR froyo. he didn't say anything about downloading kernels from manufacturers either.
anyways, there is not a flashable stock kernel for download. go download a stock nandroid restore or stock rom and get your needed files (i believe boot.img? im not sure) extracted from there
maybe it's just me, but I feel like the thread is heading in the wrong direction because people who didn't read OP's questions clearly and replied, and on top of that there are a lot of unnecessary comments from both sides. But I mean, imagine if you made a thread asking for help and people simply reply telling you to search when it's not even there the first place. pretty annoying isnt it?

where else would a stock kernel come from? i'm pointing out the fact that when a phone is released and an image is dumped, how often do you see a kernel along with it? we usually get stock rom and baseband.
If he would have looked and take the time to read through the dev section he could have thought.... "hmm I could flash the original STOCK nandroid which contains the STOCK KERNEL or I can flash this one, faux123 LGE STOCK FROYO KERNEL" but instead he comes here and asks for a link....gime, gime, gime!
The op he states "I'm looking" but he is not looking.

Just follow my lead and don't respond to crap like this, and the "Help me with everything because i'm too lazy to read" thread.
Yep, that's gonna get you far. Let me explain something to you.
There are about 5 of these exact threads that have been posted in the past 2 weeks alone. They all say the same thing, which you would see if you search a thread name before posting it.
What ROM you find the best depends on the user. Not everyone will agree on the best, I don't think. The best thing to do, is spend a few days on each one, then decide.

Yeah doing these kind of posts will get you just yelled at :S so don't but if you want an opinion on what you would like based on what you want try the Nocturnal MergeX. Though still customisable, Nocturnal is designed to work out of the box with little effort, making it a good choice for those who would rather leave most of the effort to the experts.
So give it a try

It's not just you, a lot of people do it. It just drives some of us more experienced members crazy to see the same question over and over again, that it brings a little anger out of us.
To answer your question, to start things off it's a matter of if you prefer AOSP or Sense.

[Q] Skyrocket roms?

I was wondering from user preference what is the best custom rom for the skyrocket? I have jellybean and love it but I want to overclock the processor just dont want a OS that's buggy and inconvenient for daily use.
I know there any probably many threads about this just wanted to start my own before I go rom happy
My skyrocket is rooted from ordin and I have twrp recovery.
I have never actually flashed a rom on a android just rooted several. I am getting the gs4 next week just want to have a little fun with my skyrocket in the meanwhile.
Thanks.

didnt mean to post a question in this section, my bad.

I started flashing more than one month ago and I started with the most popular (threads with a lot of posts) / recent ones.
Backuping and restoring is so easy with TWRP. So, keep your prefered ones as backups and make a choice!
If you to overclock, check the OP, it's always mentionned.
Good luck. And read
As mentioned, you really need to try them.
But I understand why you are asking as for the less technically competent user (i.e. me) its hard to easily flash and switch, and its hard to really gauge all the differences.
I do think its personal and depends on what you are looking for.
I can tell you for me I have tried a few and settled on Embryo. Its very stable for me, and with others I found myself having to do a level of troubleshooting and diagnosis that, while easy for others, was hard for me. And so that wasnt a good tradeoff for me. I wanted something stable and easy to tweak and use, even if its at the expense of slightly slower performance, etc. But thats a very personal decision, and everyones results vary depending on their phone, apps, usage, etc.
Thats why people are so reluctant to answer these questions - they arent trying to be difficult!
Good explanation. People aren't trying to be difficult, just tired of answering this question.

Need help looking for a ROM

Hey, I've been looking for ROMs for a while now, and was wondering if anyone could tell me some which fits this criteria:

and Yes I do know there is XMultiWindow module, but I don't want to use Xposed Module.

yea, but they still dont allow these. the answer will be the same always, read the threads/ops, decided yourself what you want to try out, try out different roms/kernels, then decide for yourself. they have threads here, so you can read them, not so others can read them for you.

Okay yes, I apologise if this is not allowed in this thread. But im asking for a ROM that HAS Multiwindow function built into it. Yes, trying different ROMs and Kernels will eventually help me find the answer, but there are so many ROMS out there and I'm asking for a ROM that has this function in it. lol, days my butt. you'd be lucky to use a partial day flashing Roms with multiwindows, maybe just a few hours total.
Well you just download a bunch, stick them on sd/otg flash, boot, flash , boot. You don't need to reconfigure the OS every time just to see if it has multiwindow

@Andypandiiee I'd highly recommend looking at the OPs and see which has multiwindow. Part of being on XDA is reading and discovering for yourself. I don't think this is a best ROM/Kernel thread so I don't see any problem with it. But there are plenty of ROMs, and people do use a multitude of them.
Yes, as mentioned...ROM opening posts almost always list the features, or links to a site that does.
If you don't want to read the opening posts and look for multi window listed....perhaps flashing ROMs isn't for you? Reading and reading and reading some more is what XDA is all about. Especially the opening posts of ANYTHING you are thinking if flashing. ?
Edit: the amount of time this thread has gone on.....you could have found your ROM long ago by reading the different rom features.
It seems apparent no one is going to go look for you.
We got an RC party going on here? I had to hand in my RC badge a while back but I hope you guys still like me!
As stated ROM and kernel choice are influenced by a huge amount of variables, that's something you'll have to find out yourself by trying a bunch and seeing what works for you. "What ROM should I use?" is just a thinly veiled way of asking what's the best ROM, so it's against the rules.
