I want to start a thread on this device. I just got it and there is no thread specific to this device. I was able to root it with ODEN - but there is no TWRP recovery yet that I have found. This device has MHL capability unlike the 7" device. I had the 7" device but returned it for the 8" to get the MHL capability and it also has more memory. Hopefully, if people start looking at this thread we can get stuff going for this device.

I've got the black version. While I'd like to sell it and get a Tab S, I realize the Tab4 is plenty fast, especially after rooting, and using seeder and trickster mod to tweak.
It seems we have a lot of owners, but no coders
Mines actually black too. I have to check out the seeder and trickster mod - is there a thread on it?

Would like to find out more too please.
Trickster mod is available on playstore.
Seeder is in a thread here on xda, I'd link but I'm on mobile.
Does anyone know of a link that discusses Clockworkmod progress for a recovery for this device? I saw a link somewhere but it was dead. - so I could not read it. Something they were having problems on recovery for this device - but I could not even link so that may be wrong.
Just got mine yesterday, great little device . Looking forward to TWRP and CyanogenMod though

Read my post above, I have both on my 8" - they only require root access.
That link for Seeder is from the HTC Sensation section. Follow the links in the Credits list the first post
Also, check out using Xposed and Install the Wanam Xposed module. Lots of TW mods.

Yeah.. I tried and it didn't. I have been busy fighting Samsung through their US headquarters to get what they've promised with the product.. Which they have promptly removed from their website only after two Official filed complaints.
Anyone want to build a recovery for the 8"? It seems like nobody cares about the T330...

I'm currently working with a couple developers to attempt building twrp for it but they keep saying without kernel source code, it'll be buggy. Of course the 8" is the only tab 4 Sammy hasn't released kernel for.
It appears to be on opensource.Samsung.com, or is that not the correct source needed?

You got that page to load? Won't load on any device for me, android or Windows. If so and it's the kernel for the 33x, please download it.

I'm unable to get it to download on my tablet with any browser. It doesn't state specifically that it's kernel source, just:
Classification: Mobile Phone
Model: SM-T330NU_NA
Version: T330NUUEU0ANC3
Source Code: SM-T330NU_NA_KK_Opensource.zip
If someone could get this to download I think this is what we need.

Hi,
I'm the developer of Videocam illusion app. I have just checked a problem with SE X10 audio recording speed (supports only 48.000 Hz recording). I will release a fix ASAP.
Regards,
Mobileillusion
EDIT 2:
I have just released version 1.5 of "Videocam illusion". I hope the audio recording problem of the previous version was fixed for the Xperia X10.
I have upload the apk, but I would prefer that you download it (and rate if you like) from the Android Market:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.androidillusion.videocamillusion
Thanks for your support!
What's new on version 1.5
- New user interface
- Optimized video player
- New retro filter: Chicago
- Animated mask: 8mm
- More filters/effects/masks: color, blur & white border
- Adjustable filters & effects
- Front camera support (Android 2.3+ required)
- Zoom (if supported)
- Ready for Tablet
EDIT: Here the SE X10 bugfix release (with 48 KHz recording)
Thanks, I guess most of us have been wondering why the sound sounds like chipmunk/accelerated and so does the video.
excuse my English. take this opportunity to ask if there a way to increase the recording frames. In fact, when I started recording 15 fps, but after a few seconds down to 5-6 .... tanks
Hi,
Thanks for your application encd for your replay ....
I just wonder if it would be possible to have the video encoded not only in MOV but in MP4 and/or 3gp formats in order to be also enclosed in MMS ?
Regards
Hi again,
thanks for the feedback. I have changed the recording freq to 44.100 Hz.
Could you tell me if now is working propertly?
About the questions...
The app records MOV files (MJPEG format). I have developed the MJPEG encoder/decoder. The frame rate drops while recording because each frame must be encoded. I think I could speed up a little, but not a lot.
About MP4/3GP format Android Multimedia API doesn't support direct frame encoding to video. :-(
I'm working on a MP4 encoder, but right now speed sucks. I will try to optimize.
Regards,
Mobileillusion
Hi
I will test it in few minutes and let you know what are my impression
Regards
Is this the latest version? I just download videocam illusion from market today...it show version 1.o..
Getting between 7-13fps only 640x480
Sound still abit chipmunky but it's better than before. Hopefully you can update it again
Hi,
the atached file is a "SE X10 bugfix" version (1.0.1). I will release a new version in the Market with audio recording freq selector (not only 44.100 Hz) the next week.
Feel free to let us test out your pre-release and provide feedback to you
Dev, thank you for working on this. Much appreciated

it is only a 44.100 Hz recording patch free version. I will update the Market versions (free/pro) with frequency selection ASAP.
Thanks for all the feedback!!!
X10 is screaming "i'm aliveeeee!!!!!"
thanks bro!
Well, you said Android's framework for 3rd party apps doesn't support direct frame encoding. Right?
Then what about using superuser to get over this framework?
All firmwares here are pre-rooted, so this wouldn't be a problem.

Hi Adolf1994,
you're right, direct frame video encoding is not available for 3rd party apps.
I have to investigate the Android source code to see how to directly access the encoder. If anyone can help me would be fine.

Much better, but it still takes the sound up a bit, maybe go up to 44.1Khz? Unless thats what was making it go up. Then i guess take it down.

Hi Realorasz,
I have checked the problem and you're right. I think 8000 Hz works better (with no speed up), but also 48 KHz.
I will release a "quick version" soon.
Thanks!
PS: I'm right now also working on a full resolution image viewer "Gallery illusion HD" that supports big "jpgs" and displays pictures with no quality loss. Now is in public beta and can be download free on the Android Market. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Good to know
Hopefully make full use of the 720p camcorder once you're able to fully use the encorder, hopefully the ROM devs here can help you out.

kevin,
I never heard of that model, but I have heard of the CPU. There are multiple manufacturers using that chip in tablets so I am going to direct you to another site that seems to have more info on that chip that may help you.
Goto http://www.freaktab.com - Just search for t RK2818, or checkout 'Finless Bobs' roms.
Good Luck
Tom
when this app will support a 4K videos?
thanks:laugh:
The app can already play 4K video and HEVC. MX Player uses ffmpeg as a base decoder, so whatever ffmpeg can play, MX can play. Of course, 4K and HEVC support isn't optimal by anyone right now, so don't expect stellar results.
Expect hardware-decode of HEVC/X265

When I play a 1080p vedio of HEVC/X265 movie with mxplayer 1.7.32, the player just only can play it using software decode, and the playing is very slowly.
I try to enable hw/+ mode but it failed to play.
So, expect that hard-decode can implement quickly~~~~
Hardware and/or hardware+ decode is not possible until manufacturers make chipsets that support HEVC. Those won't come for at least another year.
You can find a planned production timetable by Qualcomm here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57336946&postcount=119
Well, I have Qualcomm 801 that should support HEVC decoding (at 1080p), but it doesn't work. MX can't use HW(+) on HEVC videos, and it's not even in the list that I can get using Android API (MediaCodecList).
It seems that even if you have chipset with HEVC support you still may need to wait for manufacturer to get it supported. So player developers can't do anything about it.
Indeed, thank you vivan for the clarification!

Yeah you're right it wasn't it
but i think it's supposed to be like this , i mean if you pay attention movies go slow when it's not that important , like when a conversation is going on it's good and when it ends and it shows for example "a house from a distance" it goes slow , you know what I meann ?!!!

perfect... I change the number of core to use, so it finally work with H265 HVEC codec
If didnt work, try in MX player play with settings there, for example what works for me (lenovo tab yoga 3 pro) was: limit CPU core to 8, YUV colours, and use tricks for faster play -> any one from these not set = video playback fail, all of them = absolute superb (even in battery saving mode); so keep trying, the hope is there
I tried everything above mentioned. I have OnePlus 2 and a custom RR 6.0 ROM, version of Android is 8.1. HEVC (×265) lag in mxplayer or any other player in my phone. So please someone give me solution for this. My phone has a SD 810 and SD 810 support HEVC but mxplayer doesn't use HW or HW+ at all it only use SW. So any developer develop any app that use HW to play ×265 or just they use software decoder for that.

Looks it's due to the post count limitations. But, you can still share the drive link by simply masking to prevent the URL detection.

Hello
I recently purchased a Ramos X10F on an impulse buy on a trip to the PP last month. I had been waiting longer than a year for an 8" 4:3 device that was not Apple with expandable memory and this one just made me succumb. Also I fell for the false data in marketing it as a cortex A9 and I thought a quad core A9 should be faster than my dual core A9 in the n7000. Actually it is a A5 or A7 (device details in cpuz mention some A7 blah).
The device has great potential to be an ipad mini killer as the hardware fit and finish is very good, the screen is IPS and it weighs only 360 grams. I can hold it in one had lying in bed without tiring myself. However performance is marred by the stock android 4.1.1. Intially I thought it was slow nand flash as when I enabled cpu stats, the nand-rw-flash process appeared to be the top process for a longish time, each time it stalled. However I later discovered, the device is very laggy when Wifi is on while actual WiFi throughput is very good - I get almost full speed 16mbs in the speedtest.net results. Unfortunately even with entropy seeder and a deadline or noop scheduler, the lagginess is only partially improved. Also the old linux/android decision of using input to randomize and seed the entropy is only good for desktops not servers or touchpads. I have to tap a few times to get a app screen to respond inexplicably and suddenly and it shows that the OS was waiting on input. The device is best for streaming as typically once the app is opened I never have a problem with lag a it is typically 30 mins of iewing before switching apps. Otherwise the poor performance means a task that should take normal time (like reading news in the morning for 15 mins) takes more than twice the time as I have to struggle with the slow app launches and screen loading mostly. But if Wifi is switched off and content is cached, everything is smooth and much better. Battery life is decent with display brightness set around or below 10% typically.
So my recommendation for a new buyer is - dont buy until a custom ROM is made available. Dont fall for the x10pro video on the utube yet. Real world performance is not the same. Once the smoothness of the 4.4.3 is acheived it will be a killer product.
I would like to upgrade the android from its 4.1.1 to a 4.4.x version. Also this version is vulnerable to heartbleed and the openssl bug that came after that in June 2014. The omnirom 4.4.3 on my n7000 is really smooth and I am hoping somebody will develop a custom rom for this device.
But I dont see a custom ROM or CWM for this anywhere. I installed a CWM recovery for another ATM7029 device (yarvik) and it boots, but I forgot about the display driver compatibility and I can no longer view the menu in recovery mode. Otherwise rooted it and running ok.
The specifications of the device are as follows:
OS: Android 4.1.1
CPU: Quad Core ATM7029
GPU: Vivante GC1000
RAM 1GB,DDR3 --> False. Real RAM is 686MB.

Battery: 4000mAh
What do I need to submit for a developer to build a custom rom for this device? Some kind of dump? ALso need a recovery manager with the right display driver. Either TWRP or CWM.
I hope a developer will volunteer.
Thanks

Hello all,
I was in thailand and my phone died so I got a cheap $45 tablet to use whatsapp to talk to family and friends. I read asus makes the devices - I'm assuming that someone made this tablet for the company that sold it and that it's a little better than a cheap Chinese tablet quality bc it has had no issues and seems pretty good and was offered by a respected phone company over there. I wanted to upgrade to a newer Rom >4.2, now that I am back in the states.
1.) I had an adnroid stick PC and it seemed like the sticks where all the same chipset and then had roms you could load on them regardless of their brand. Are there universal roms I could look into.
2.) I'm not sure how hard it would be to make a CM rom for this device , but I did see that they have a link to create a build.
I'm going to try one-click, Kingo root, king root, etc to see if I can unlock it so I can turn off the telephony.apk and phone.apk since this one did not have a sim card and was wifi only. The manuf didn't delete those apps so they keep draining the battery looking for service.
Your help is appreciated and thanks in advance!

Asus memo pad has it, but 4 core
Hello all,
I was in thailand and my phone died so I got a cheap $45 tablet to use whatsapp to talk to family and friends.
