Full access to external SD - Edit platform.xml - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've seen this fix proposed on a forum, but it seems my Tab 7 running SlimKat 7.0 stable already has this entry in the platform.xml file.
Edit the file at:
system/etc/permissions/platform.xml
to add <group gid="media_rw" /> in the following location like so:
<permission name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" >
<group gid="sdcard_r" />
<group gid="sdcard_rw" />
<group gid="media_rw" />
</permission>

It looks like there may be another entry to edit...
<permission name="android.permission.WRITE_MEDIA_STORAGE" >
<group gid="sdcard_rw" />
<group gid="media_rw" />
</permission>
Can anyone assist?

[Q] Read/Write Mounting

So I've read about a patch that allows for mounting of internal storage as RW.
Its a bit annoying to have to plug in my xoom to the pc just to save something to external sd. Root explorer FC's on open and Total Commander can't always mount RW
What to do? What to do?
root
es file explorer
ssh
ftp
...
Use your favorite method to edit the permissions in /data/etc/platform.xml to look like this:
Code:
<permission name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" >
<group gid="sdcard_rw" />
<group gid="media_rw" />
</permission>
<permission name="android.permission.WRITE_MEDIA_STORAGE" >
<group gid="sdcard_rw" />
<group gid="media_rw" />
</permission>

s7 portable storage permission

Hi friends, I want to use my microsd card, however I don't like the fact that it will be encrypted and won't work with other devices
I like how it operated back in kickkat. there were mods/app to mount it as /Storage/ExternalSD or something
I did some googling and found out supposedly you could regain this function by running xposed.
I installed xposed and tried XinternalSD module and HandleExternalStorage but still can't seem to have microsd behave same as it did....
I am just curious if anyone has MicroSd working without employing Adopted Storage; that is free from any permission limitation.
<permission name="android.permission.WRITE_MEDIA_STORAGE" >
<group gid="sdcard_r" />
<group gid="media_rw" />
<group gid="sdcard_rw" />
</permission>
<permission name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" >
<group gid="sdcard_r" />
<group gid="sdcard_rw" />
<group gid="media_rw" />
</permission>
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
tried this entry in system/etc/permission/platform.xml but failed to make any difference
Suffering the same problem.....

Sd fx

How to patch my extsdcard in j7 .. can you help me guys...
If you are rooted, navigate to system/etc/permisisons/platform.xml and add "<group gid="media_rw" />" in WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE section. Please see below:
<permission name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" >
<group gid="sdcard_r" />
<group gid="sdcard_rw" />
<group gid="media_rw" />
</permission>
or download sd fix app in playstore
#hit Thanks if it worked for you
Ohkay thanks a lot bro ?

<group gid="media_r" />
</permission>
<permission name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" >

Marshmallow, modification of permission file

Hi !
On my Samsung S5 dual sim (rooted) running marshmallow, I would like to authorize any application to write to external sd card (even it's not too secure).
In "/system/etc/permissions", I don't find
"WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission". Is it possible to add:
<permission name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" >
<group gid="sdcard_rw" />
<group gid="media_rw" />
</permission>
To authorize any application to write on external sd card ?
Thank you for your help.
