http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-s/general/guide-fix-fastboot-windows-8-1-t2858337
This one solved it on every computer I used. Now I can even use fastboot over usb 3.0.
Wtf are you talking about. I don't care about fastboot, I just want to be able to copy from and to my phone....

I don't understand your question.
Is this about developing software, or a rom?
Three days and no update from OP.
Closing thread.
hi, ive been having issues rooting this phone.
Ive tried 4 different cables & 2 different laptops.
Have the latest usb drivers + the samsung drivers. I did notice that it cant be found in device manager.
when i click on the bat file in qbkings one click root folder, i get "device not found". <duh
Usb debugging is enabled. Could the phone itself be damaged?
You're better off unlocking the bootloader and flashing custom recovery through adb. The directions aren't difficult to find (I'd link you but I'm on my phone). That way if something goes wrong you know where it failed instead of being dependent on a piece of software.
I wish everybody did it this way. Plus, I 100% agree with your statement. Not only that, you learn a few things along the way

Yes.
Same issue. Even with usb storage.
phone is on ICS 4.0.4 via ota update.

Step by Step Root is here in the sticky. If the phone isn't seen just to see the SD card then the phones USB may be shot and that is a hardware issue.
Dear Gents,
I've installed the USB driver from the Motorola's official site, the newest ver.is 2.2.28. But after installed it, my laptop (windows 7 Prof. SP1) still not recognized the photon q.
anyone experienced this? fyi, I also use the original USB cable that came with the Q.
any help appreciate it, thanks before..
You're trying to get adb or...?
I'm on Win7 64-bit, but Home Premium instead of Professional.... Shouldn't matter tho.
Let us know what you're trying to achieve .

OK, you're using this guide?
You're then trying to install the drivers from step #3? Where does it fail? What happens?
Please be as descriptive as possible. We're not mind readers, so the more information the better. Thanks.

Affirmative bro..i am using this "manual", after step 3, proceed to step 4. when I plug the photon q with usb cable, the warning sign pop up on above the tray right below, it said, "the driver doesn't install"
already tried by restart the laptop than re-install the driver again, but still showed the same thing. on window explorer, there is no USB mount also.
by looking via device manager, no adb driver installed also..
Just in case you hadn't thought of it (though I'd assume you have), have you tried changing which usb port you're using on your laptop? I just ask because there's 1-2 I never have as much luck with on my PC for whatever reason.
I've tried that also.. no luck, also use my incre2 cable data also no luck.. any advise, friends?

Same for me, can't transfer any files via PC, I use Airdroid. Phone doesn't show up in device manager regardless of what I try -- also this is my 3rd Nexus and the second one to do this.

Have you ever installed the ADB drivers? Sometimes they conflict if you install those first. What I mean is that if you use fastboot on your phone before using MTP, this can happen.

THIS fixed my device issues, for some random reason my Nexus was showing up as an ACER ADB Interface.
