Just ordered me one of those.
I hate universal holders and I hate passive holders. This seems like the best choice right now, since the official merchandise is still not in sight...
http://www.pdashop.nl/product/90916/brodit-active-holder-google-nexus-one.html
I have one. It works super. You'll be really happy with it.
Google is missing the boat huge on this car dock.
That's good to hear, MadFlava. I had one of those for my previous phone (Touch Diamond) and that one has served me perfectly too.
Installed mine yesterday. I love it. The cords are ugly but I'll work on that when I get a chance.
Yup, I have one and would recommend them too
Well, received mine today, and... my Nexus One does not fit??? It will not slide far enough over the micro-usb connection.... any of you guys experienced anything like this?
It does not charge now... and there's like 2mm of space left between the bottom of my Nexus One and the holder.. I've used force to some extent, but it just will not slide any further..

I'm new here so I can't post links but go to androidforums.com and search for the thread ProClip Mounting System. In there you'll find a guy (dbpaddler) that has a lot of knowledge about these mounts. He's a re-seller for Brodit I think. Tell him about your problem and maybe he can help.

Sounds very odd. Can you post us a few pictures of what's going on?
See attachment. The micro-usb connector in the holder is about 4.5mm high, but my Nexus One will only slide over it like for 2mm and then it feels like it is blocked by something. I've used force, but no movement whatsoever.
I find it strange too.. I don't see anything odd on the connector, nor on the female connector on my Nexus One. I guess I'll take it back to the store...
How odd. It looks like the connector is slightly left of centre, if you use the trackball to be centre... no jiggling will make it fit?
It may look a bit off-centre due to my photography skills, it looks okay in real life. Jiggling or forcing does not help unfortunately. Of course the connector that came with my Nexus One charger fits nicely, and I don't see any peculiarities when I compare it to the one on the Brodit.
Anyhow, I logged an issue with the webshop that I bought it from and they happen to have a brick-and-mortar store some 50km from here, so I may drop by to demonstrate my problem. Thanks for your help.
Do you have a body skin on the phone?
Nope, no skin. Going to the store later today to have the holder replaced, they think it may just be a faulty unit. Will keep you all posted.
Well, guess what.... just returned from the store, and the replacement holder that they offered had exactly the same problem. The sales guy was as astonished as I was. Personally he had not sold any of these, since the Nexus One is officially not available yet here in the Netherlands, so demand is minimal, but it makes me wonder if I'm really the only one with this problem, and whether my specific Nexus One could be the problem...
Anyway, he took mine back and I was fully refunded, so kudos for pdashop.nl.
Downside: still no carmount for me.
I have one too, it does fit but, I had to wiggle it a little bit to get it in......
It was not just straight forward. I will have a go tonight and see if it still play hard to get.
anyway once plugged, it worked fine for me.
We (both me and the sales guy in the store) used force and wiggled, but to no avail. Besides, I don't want a holder that needs wiggling in the first place. I want it to fit perfectly. That's why I do not buy a universal holder but a Nexus-specific one.
I got mine and it fits perfect.

anybody have any experience with any of the ebay type keyboard cases?
I ordered the US version of the official Samsung keyboard case, it should be here this week.
I'll post some pics when I get it.
Just got it in, pretty impressive little guy so far.
Need to get some time in actually using it before I can say to much more about it.
Ill post some pictures of it if there is interest.

For anyone who does not mind full retail price ($149), you can purchase it direct from Samsung: http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/galaxy-tab-accessories/BKC-1C9USBGSTA
I am holding out for it to show up at more vendors. I suspect it will cost between $99 and $129 very quickly.
About the Samsung Keyboard (gorgeous, btw). Can you type on it and touch/pinch on the screen while it's upright? I mean, would it easily fall back? The rear support looks slippery/flimsy.

That's my only real concern also. The keyboard and case itself looks MUCH nicer than anything else on the market. I don't like cases that cover the sides of the screen (which the Samsung doesn't), and the keyboard looks larger and slimmer than any of the competitor's offerings.
Exactly and the YouTube video is crap, the thing lays flat nearly all the time...not helpful.

I have found it to actually be really quite sturdy, even on very slippery desk surfaces.
The stand itself is a quite ridged, yet has some flexability in that it wont snap under pressure.
The part of it that makes contatact with the desk or whatever is coated in a very grippy rubberized material that grips anything really sturdily.
It does not slipthats for sure.
So yea you can absolutely pinch and zoom while in laptop style angles on a desk, or leather couch.
The whole case is really thin and nicely designed, I also have the Vipertek slim leather case, and this is only very slightly thicker.
It does add quite a bit of weight to it, but its not to bad, and feels very solid.
The keyboard works pretty well, there is some quirks that I assume are related to androids implimentation of BT keyoards and hope to see addresed in ICS, but all in all I find it works pretty well.
When I bought it I was only really planning on using it when I knew I would need it for some reason, and still primarily have my tab in the Vipertek most of the time, but since I put my tab in, it has stayed in, and I don't think I will go back to my old case.
Can you flip the keyboard behind the screen and just use the screen say on your lap?

Nope, unfortunatly you cannot.
It almost goes all the way around but not quite.
That is probably one of the main drawbacks, but I have found it to be less of an issue then I thought it would be.
Thanks for the response. I use it in portrait mode a lot and don't always need the keyboard. I would definitely get this if it wasn't so expensive!

Thinking of picking up an inexpensive VR Glass and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations? Our device is a bit heavier than most, so I'm wondering if that is an issue. Thanks in advance!
I used it in one of the Google Cardboards. Didn't attach the straps or anything. It certainly isn't too heavy, would just depend on how good the headgear is.
I compared it with my girlfriend's Note5. The Note5 looks a lot better on its face due to contrast and over saturation (Adaptive Display mode) - certainly not accurate. But the black levels really take it to a whole new level when they are the main focus (e.g. horror games). The V10 LCD screen has an obvious gray being show instead of black. But the V10 is full RGB and not pentile like the Note5, so it looks sharper/less screen door effect.
I have a cheap google cardboard. I have noticed that the magnetic switch won't work in the default position with the v10. In fact I have to move the phone halfway out of my cardboard for the magnetic case to register.
Anyone have a good Cardboard that works well with the v10?
I just ordered some VR googles from ebay (i am not allowed to post direct links, but look for Google-Cardboard-VR-Box-Virtual-Reality-3D-Glasses-for-LG-V10-G4-G3-G2-for-Sony-/181922145874), mainly going to use them for watching movies. I will post the experience with them, once they will arrive.

The cardboard V1 units will not work with the V10.
You have to get either a good plastic unit sized for up to a 6" phone, or get a cardboard V2.
I have multiple V1 units that the phone does not fit in, a V2 that works well, and a Destek VR headset that works perfectly.
The destek unit does not have a button on it and you need to use a controller but it is by far the best experience.
I got the ViewMaster from Target. $30 but sometimes drops to $20.
The v10 fits nicely and the tricgger on the viewmaster works good with the v10
The ViewMaster itself is made pretty well. The front has a tinted plastic piece tjat makes it look a bit more high end like. The material for resting your face on the device is made of rubber and keeps thing comfy

I ordered one of the free Star Wars Cardboard kits Google was giving away a month or so ago with my V10 and it works great.
Sent from my LG-H901 using Tapatalk
i tried the Mattel one.. it was ok but i didnt like the clamp that holds the V10.. it scratches up against the glass, and there is no head strap.. so i returned it.
I also tried the Desktek VR.. It was also ok but the field of view is bad.. like looking through a window.. not immersive at all. So i returned that one also.
I have the Freefly VR on order now, which is a little more expensive but has a wide FOV and really immersive from what I have read.
I got one from Yahoo Bid (an eBay-like website by Yahoo. I guess they only have it here in Taiwan though) for ~$8. It was a bit fragile, but was fixable by staples anyway. Paired with my V10, it seems a bit pixeled, but acceptable. Also, you can catch a glimpse of the second screen if you don't put the phone in the exact place lol.
What software is everyone using for VR?
Shortly after I got the StarWars themed cardboard from verizon I tried Trinus server and Trinus VR Lite to see if I could stream VR from games (only tried with Elite Dangerous so far) on my PC. Other than still needing a head strap and padding I felt like it was promising but I just couldn't get the lens calibration quite right and the image quality seemed terrible.
A couple weeks later I saw that the dev had released a standalone VR demo game using Unity. When I tried it I actually felt like I got the settings perfect but they seemed wrong when I plugged the same lens calibration numbers into the the streaming server.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.loxai.trinus.full full version.
http://trinusvr.com/survival-shooter-for-trinusvr/ standalone VR demo/game
The freefly is really nice.. best VR viewer i have tried so far.. the only thing i cannot get working is the magnet setup.. i rigged a cardboard style magnet setup on it but the V10 still isnt recognizing the magnet field.. i wonder if the compass/magnometer is working correctly..
Update: I found the sweet spot for the V10 magnet.. works great now.
Sometimes the lenses fog up if you dont have a lot of airflow also, but I definitely recommend the Freefly over the other cheaper units..
Where was the sweet spot? It worked once for me, and now I can't get it working again.

What VR viewer do you have?
For the V10 and the freefly I put the magnets inside the left eye lens.. the front lower area so the magnet is closer to the front camera area on the V10.. that is where it always picks up the magnetic field changes..
I have a nicely built one from eBay. VR BOX V.2. It reminds me of the gear vr (had it for a few months)
That said...what I tried to do with the Google cardboard app looked terrible. Was very disapointed in my v10 in VR mode.

But screen distance is not everything. The lenses play a large role in this. which is how Oculus is making the Rift look a lot better than its predecessors - more advanced lenses. Since my last post, I went back to the Note5... and got a GearVR. With the GearVR, the pentile arrangement is only noticeable if you are looking for it, AND have a solid color where a single pixel is being used to illuminate it (e.g. pure red). The gap in the pixels becomes a little more pronounced. But trust me man, OLED is the future. I couldn't bear the LCD on the V10 any longer since I have a 4K OLED TV. OLED is the only thing I can look at now.
I use freefly VR. Awesome field of view. 120 degrees! Our phones fit in it no problem. Mine came with a small bluetooth controller which satisfied the lack of a "click" button. Also, you can use a small kitchen magnet to simulate a click if you need to. Just tap the back of the phone with the magnet and it'll work. We arent talking about a huge powerful magnet either. Just a normal refrigerator one.

+1 on both of the two previous posts! Google Daydream works well, but the phone certain does get hot!!
A few other points:
Make sure to take off mods to reduce weight. I usually keep the Battery mod on my phone 24/7, but take it off for VR. Granted, the loss of more battery stinks with doing VR, but the weight savings makes it much more comfortable to wear.
If you've purchased any movies/shows in the google play store, you can open them in Youtube under the "purchases" link on the left on a computer. Once you've opened them, they show up as recently viewed items in Youtube. This means you can use YouTubeVR to view them. What's nice about this is with YoutubeVR, you can re-position the screen to pretty much any angle, so you can lay down on the floor or bed and watch a movie/show.
Amazon recently added a Halo Gray variant to their listings and I know it comes with Alexa that can be removed but would there be any reason NOT to get this color? I wonder if it would be BETTER to get since it's probably a new hardware revision? I know it has the same internal specs as the others but I've heard some horror stories about the initial batch of the black ones and am wondering if that's still a concern.

I purchased a black one from bestbuy earlier in the week hoping it was part of the new batch. It was apparently as the speaker grill was metal. But the light bleed was very present on both sides so i returned it. Started reading about the newer batch of phones that fixed the speaker grill are having light bleed issues. So with that said i’m hesitant to buy another. But this Halo grey color peaks my interest and amazons return policy is pretty great. So i’m going to bite the bullet and try the Halo grey.

I picked up the Halo Grey when it was on sale for $450 and am mostly enjoying it right now. I have never seen any other PH-1 and could not imagine how much of a smudge magnet they must be. Plus the matte has just enough grip to it to keep it from being a wet bar of soap. I upgraded it to Oreo 8.1 within 10 minutes of taking it out of the box and am trying to figure out what the battery life is going to be like.
So yes...go halo!

So 2 weeks later now, How has the battery life been on oreo 8.1 ? getting my essential phone soon. So eager to know whether i should upgrade to oreo or not.
So I am going to call the battery life "acceptable", but not spectacular. I tried out a OnePlus 5T before the PH-1 but could not get VoLTE working on AT&T. That thing seemed to have stellar battery life. The Essential is going into Deep Sleep about 75% of the time according to CPU Spy. All I do is calls/texts and surf the web on mine and I seem to go 2 days before recharging again. The fast charge is damn fast...but I do find myself missing the headphone jack. I needed to plug it in the other day while I was on a call. And keeping up with the stupid dongle is annoying. I did try a cheap used 360 camera and what a total **** show. That thing ate power at a stupid rate, the video/pictures were like meh, and it actually has a tiny fan buzzing away in it....and it still heats up. Overall the phone is solid and built BEAUTIFULLY.
Mine has been great. I love the matte back and its much closer to black than grey. I also wasn't sure about the color of the metal frame from pictures either coming from a black moon I had previously but I really like it in person. Haven't had any quality issues with it.
I will say battery on 8.1 is decent... its nothing spectacular but its more than adequate. Then again I'm coming from a v30 which has possibly the best battery life I've ever had on an android phone.. just a slight step below the mate 8 and mi mix 1.

I am just a little bummed that I bought it at $499 and now its $450 with the essential earbuds and amazon refuses to refund me the difference or price match... and I really don't wanna have to go through the whole return and repurchase process just to get that difference back.
So far my battery on the matte gray was stellar. I spent the weekend at my girlfriends house and didnt have to charge it at all. So far so good.
