GPS Issue - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've tried rebooting my phone and clearing the dalvik cache and still no luck. I'm running 33R and I place my phone's GPS in High Accuracy mode but when I pull up Google Maps directions my phone never locks onto my location.
Anyone else having this same issue and/or solved this issue?

Try outside of building. For diagnostic puposes, use GPS Status & Toolbox or GPS Test from Google Play. If you can "see" the satellites, your hardware is fine.

I just got a response from Oneplus tech support that said "Try a factory reset, if that doesn't work try a hard reset.".
They told me the same solution for the last issue I had. I'm beginning to think that tech support only sends out that "solution".

Oh thank you, I'll try that.

The GPS module is intended to work ONLY in open space, it must "see" the sky. Sometimes, if you are away from big buildings or mountains, it should work inside near the windows. But the rule is the device should "see" the sky.

I have read somewhere, here or in official forum from oneplus site, that someone has similar problems due to an app (a keyboard or something like this) which has apparently nothing to do with GPS. Try to install/reinstall your apps and meanwhile test your GPS with GPS Test or GPS Status & Toolbox. Anyway, I'll try to search the thread and if I'll find it, I'll tell it here.
---------- Post added at 12:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:16 PM ----------
I've forgot to tell.. If you use GPS Status & Toolbox, in Settings>GPS & Sensors, activate Auto-download AGPS data on the smallest interval (1 hour). Now it should work quicker.
---------- Post added at 12:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:25 PM ----------
Find it... Read here all thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/help/gps-problems-oneplus-one-t2816004/page3
Also read post number 30 about an app called "dragon dictation". Could be something similar. That's why is better to install/uninstall apps.

I am unable to get the GPS to lock on ANY Gingerbread ROM and I have tried at least 5 of them.
On GB I will pick up anywhere from 2 to 5 sats and not lock on any. As soon as I go back to FROYO I pick up 11 or 12 sats and lock on most all of them.
This is driving me nuts. I have tried every single trick I could find posted online but can never get the GPS to work in GB, only FROYO.
So did you try this fix??

You lost me there. First of all the link you posted doesn't mention anything about doing anything else other than changing the GPS.CONF.
Despite that, from doing this so many times I was aware of that, so after changing the CONF file I rebooted, then I cleared GPS DATA, then I cleared and downloaded GPS A-DATA.
Then what do I do in LBS mode that I haven't already done in angry gps? Isn't ANGRY.GPS basically the same as LBS mode?

And what is GPS data a? You can't run any.other GPS fix apps or it'll block configuration from working.
Follow the configuration instructions, don't have any other GPS fix apps installed.then reboot after you back other GPS file up and put new configuration file in, after you reboot go into settings, applications and clear GPS data. Then go into lbs mode into supl settings and make sure its on auto config. Then run lbs test until it locks. That's best I got bro that's what fixed mine and four of my friends and some on here as well. Like I said alleluia phones are different. Good luck and best wishes

Absolutely not. The "fix" only replaces the GPS.CONF. If you look at GPS.CONF in a text editor and remove all the notation("#") lines it is virtually identical to all the other "GPS FIX" attempts out there.
GPS.CONF file remains the same no matter what you do with the A-DATA (I have looked at the file and settings after clearing the A-DATA. The A-DATA (assisted GPS data) is what is downloaded from the web periodically to put your GPS in a "general area" so it will fix quicker. That is the same thing that is cleared when you use angry-gps. Believe me, I have tried it without doing that and with doing that with the same results.
This "fix" works great in Froyo as do the umpteen others out there. When I use it in Froyo my GPS locks super fast but for whatever reason there is some problem with my phone, GPS and GingerBread.
I'm going to order another Infuse just for the heck of it and see if has the same problem. That way I can put them side-by-side. Just the fact there are so many "GPS fixes and hacks" for Samsung phones out there says something in itself.
Well, I got it working.
I went back to the "stock" GPS.CONF that was in the Serindipity VII ROM and loaded GPSTEST. I set it on a chair in front of my house. After about 45-50 minutes it finally "found aka in-view" 12 sats and locked on 8,
One it "finds" sats (not locks, just finds) it will remember those 12 or whatever number of sats until or unless you "reset GPS A-DATA" or "clear data" with angry GPS. When I do that I have to go through the wait again. Even in my basement it now always shows those 12 sats as "IN VIEW" when obviously they are not What is "In View" is probably the cached A-DATA info because if you clear that they are gone. The "faster lock" is created because the GPS "knows" what specific sats to eventually lock on. As long as I don't delete the data again, or travel 1000 miles from here, I should have no problem.

[Q] Need to clear WiFi location cache after move

I moved (with my WiFi router) from Maine to Texas. My Xoom is convinced that that the WiFi still signifies that I'm in Maine. The widget for the Weather Channel keeps showing me the weather for Portland, ME. Also, whenever I open Google Maps, it jumps to my old address before going to the current GPS location in Texas.
I assume there must be some sort of cache that associates a given WiFi MAC with a location. I tried deleting the WiFi association and then adding it again, but that didn't fix the problem. So my guess is that I need to clear that cache (if it exists).
Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is a quite annoying problem.
Oh, I forgot to mention. If I turn off Google's location service (Location determined by Wi-Fi) (in Settings-->Location services), this fixes the weather app, but Google Maps still jumps to Maine until I get a GPS lock.
I think this is in Google's cache - they know your wifi was at your old place so that is where everything starts. I tried to look for a link from Google to "reset" your location data. I couldn't find it. I will post back if I do.
---------- Post added at 10:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:26 PM ----------
Found a similar post in a Google forum.
I can't post links yet so...
open google - search for "google reset wifi location" and check the first link.
What about changing the name of your wifi - the network name will change and then Google will update the maps (maybe).
Found another post about google latitude - might be able to reset location?
I changed the WiFi name. I'll post back later with results after I see if it works over the next day or so. Looks good so far though.
I thought it was going to work. It still showed the correct location last night (about 20 hours after the change), but it's now (40 hours after the change) messed up again. Very strange that it would work for that long and then revert to the previous behavior.
None of the links in the search result referenced by da_beast work anymore. Unfortunately it's a 2 year old thread. It does seem to match my problem exactly though, so thanks for finding it.
I found another thread that says that, by leaving GPS and WiFi on consistently, it will eventually get fixed.
Here's the oddest thing though. It screws up my Xoom, but not my phone (HTC Evo Shift 4G).
Current plan: leave both phone and tablet connect to the WiFi with GPS on and see if it helps.
I'll update for anyone who might be having the same problem as I see what happens.
Just by pure coincidence I saw an app on the market today called Location Cache by REMYDEMY. I have never used it, and have no idea if it works; but, it has positive reviews, and seems to do exactly what you're looking for. Let me know if you do decide to try it, just out of curiosity.

That might do it - I tried it just to see what it does.
Lost track of this thread for a bit while I was dealing with work stuff and installing a washer/dryer set.
Anyway, the upshot is that leaving the GPS on along with the other things I tried seems to have fixed it. I haven't had problems in at least five days.
Since I don't know what exactly worked, here is a list of everything I did (Note a number with a letter means I did these these things basically at the same time or several times that were mixed together):
1) Left GPS on for the Xoom (WiFi, no 3G)
2a) Accessed Google Maps multiple times on the Xoom when the Weather Channel app showed the wrong location
2b) Traveled to a family member's house with WiFi that showed the proper location on the Xoom multiple times
3) Changed the AP name for the router
4) Turned on GPS on my HTC Evo Shift 4G
5a) Accessed Google Maps multiple times on the Xoom when the Weather Channel app showed the wrong location
5b) Traveled back and forth with the phone only (GPS still on)
So conclusion, it's fixed.
My guess is that it has to do with multiple GPS location fixes while connected to the router. I don't think changing the AP name had anything to do with it, but I don't know for sure. I do think that having multiple sources (phone & tablet) helped, but I can't say for sure. It could have just been the number of GPS/router connections from the tablet.

wtf is wrong with my gps---- it thinks im in nevada

Guys , i have done the flash for the GPS fix like 3 times...I have wiped my phone clean , and did a fresh install of ics 2 times. It still thinks I'm in Mesquite nevada. I'm in FT LAUDERDALE FL... help!!!!!
Has anyone fixed this?
My GPS is acting the same way eversince I updated to ICS.
GPS takes long time to lock. My advice is to turn on Location Services as well as GPS.
It's funny that Maps don't work but if you switch to Navigation, it works fine (after a long wait).

2 things to try... I had TERRRRIBLE gps status on cm10 when, and the agps fix didnt really change it (it said I was in Africa)
make sure that in the location settings you have: use internal gps selected.
and install gps status from the play store.
open it> press menu>> select mangae agps state>>> select download>>>> then reset
reboot
I've been lazy with the AGPS patches so I've been using FasterFix:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Double.FasterFix&hl=en
I still get 3-5m accuracy.
Ya the agps patches only worked for me once. I remember on gb GPS was amazing. It kinda sucks not being able to use my phone for a GPS now

High accuracy uses GPS and WiFi/ mobile for your position IF the app requests GPS is used.
Battery saving uses just WiFi/mobile.
Device only uses just GPS.
And Google renamed these to make it easier
If you use an app that uses wifi/mobile location but does not request GPS then the device only option won't get a location.
Likewise an app wanting to use only gps when you have only battery saving in use won't get a location.
Google maps should get a location using any of the choices.
Possibly maps will take longer to get a location with device only as it NEEDS a GPS lock and can't get a less accurate location first using mobile/WiFi.
I have found a bug where if you use battery saving and then switch location off or switch to device only and then switch back to battery saving it can't get the location. A reboot fixes it.
If you can't get a location using battery saving even after a reboot try clearing the cache/data for google play services.

Waze GPS issues

All of a sudden when I try to use waze it can't find a GPS signal.
All my other GPS apps works fine (Google maps, runkeepe etc).
When I restart the phone and open waze again it finds the location and after a few seconds the signal is lost and after that it won't get any signal again.
It happened all of a sudden!
The GPS is on and on high accuracy,
I tried to reinstall the app,
I clear cached data.
wipe cache
Nothing works.
same here
same here, all other apps working fine
this issue started with update 5.1.11 with me
also waze does work for me after a reboot ... briefly then loses signal after a few seconds
I was able to fix this by always launching Waze from the "GPS Locker" app. You can get the app from the Play Store.
Ok so I tried everything and still no GPS connection to Waze. Started yesterday out of no where (didn't update anything) and now I can't use Waze at all. Google Maps works fine, gps tested fine , only Waze is not working.
Any ideas?
sounds like gps time sync error.
Same here, works briefly after I restart my phone. I also think it has something to do with the update I did.
Any solution?

Same issue here. Waze is working fine on the smartphone itsef (but only if I enable advanced Battery optimization). But through Android Auto the GPS is not taking position (only briefly after rebooting phone)....
Google maps though is working just fine!
OK on mine but I am using the One+ Android 9 beta and also the latest Waze Beta on my 6. Used it from Somerset to London today OK.
Continues to be OK
Same issue here, but i thought it was due to the Beta i am using, so i filled a report on the beta forums of waze.
Same here.
was working fine yesterday and sudnely afternoon waze cant fined GPS signal
A lot of people report the same issue on the OnePlus forum also.
I got contact with Waze support. After the starndard mail with the obvious suggestions, they've asked me to reproduce the issue in debug mode and to send them the log files.
I suggest that everyone of us contacts Waze support in order give them access to as much cases as possible. The more notifications of the problem they get, the quicker we will have a solution.

By entering 2##2 in the search box and then restart Waze (same to exit debug mode).
When you contact support, they send you mail with pretty clear instructions on how to send the report logs.
Please make sure to contact them first, otherwise they cannot link the report logs to the correct ticket!

If you disable the "Advanced battery optimization" it simply won't work anymore.
I enabled the advanced optimization again and set waze AND android auto (which I use) to: "don't optimize", after that, waze is able to position agian after a second or 10.
Though, when using it trough android auto, the GPS signal is lost, to only return for a few seconds if you reboot the phone.
Google Maps though is working just fine without any issues.
Updated Oxygenos yesterday, same problem after update. Anyone who has a solution or is in contact with Oneplus?
