[Q] Flashed Modem but Now Only Get E - General Questions and Answers

I had to flash the modem in this phone (GT19305) to unlock it. After unlocking it, no matter what sim I put in it, it stays at 2G. Is there a way I can fix this? I am flashing the stock rom right now. Will this fix it? (Sorry if this is a noob question. Samsung does everything they can to stop people from rooting, unlocking, and basically working on the device yourself)

Is there any way I can fix this though?

Bypass Activation/ Unlock Cellphone: LG VS740

I got this phone, I'm not on the Verizon network as the phone is. Phone was working great w/ wifi bluetooth etc.... then I reset the phone back to factory defaults. Now it is asking to activate the phone etc... when I boot up the phone.
Some other people suggest that it is a mere process of tracking down the unlock codes.
wanted to know if there is anything else that comes to mind, like a new OS, boot loader or something?
Any help is appriciated
Guess nobody got any ideas of how I can use this phone as a PDA?
at the start up i get the android activation w/ verizon, which I would just like to bypass and use as a pda
I don't know that phone, but if it was already rooted & has a custom recovery image on it, try searching for a guide to installing a generic custom ROM via recovery. That /might/ avoid the registration step, if it was Verizon specific, rather than specific to the device model.
Why don't you want to use the device as a phone? Seems a shame not to.

Quick Rooting Question

Hey Guys,
I just unlocked my phone via unlock code. Now im planning on rooting it via SuperOneClick 1.9.1 method. So the question here is simple.. Can i root it and will the unlock stay intact even after doing?.. the reason this question came is My G2, i heard that when we root, the unlock goes away(if it is unlocked prior to rooting by code). Thanks in advance..
PS. the whole reason for rooting is the wifi dns problem im having .. and im on AT&T sim with data disabled!!!
Rooting shouldn't...Doing a system wipe to install a custom rom will. Don't quote me on that though. That's what has happened to my phones in the past.
Good to know.. But if i end up flashing a custom rom and the unlock goes away.. then i can simply re enter my unlock code that i have right?.. (i.e. if im asked on rebooting after installing it) owise im assuming it would work just fine..

[Q] CM9! > VKL1! > IMEI found! > Unlock?????

Hi. I had an Evo 4G and CM9 mastered. My first mistake was getting an iPhone.
I now have an i717. It was rooted but I didnt recognize it so I immediately put in clockwork and CM9. I lost imei but it reappeared after putting in the radio vkl1 a second time.
I have some db's in the signal meter in settings so its getting something. The number isnt showing from the tmo sim though. The phone was never unlocked.
I do not get a prompt to unlock when I reboot. Did I need to unlock first? I thnk I know the answer.
What should I do? I can pay $10 or whatever but I shouldnt have to. Im not sure if I need to use this odin thing to get to a stock ATT rom or something before I can unlock? Please help. thanks in advance.
I say u should go to odin and unroot then reroot it just to be on the safe side. Then u could unlock it if u want but unrooting it should work. It always works for me

The i717 is the Galaxy Note, not the Skyrocket. Did you put a Skyrocket rom on the Note or was that just a typo?
.........
At this point I have paid cellunlock dot net to give me an unlock code.
Probably a common problem was that my USB cable was not in good status, using a usb extension, so I had failed flashing of firmware til late last night.
This morning I was able to install a stock ATT firmware. Now I receive a prompt for the unlock code. I cannot put CM9 back on it or do anything with it until I unlock it, so I am waiting.
**devpro**. you said no need to unlock? Im not sure. It certainly didnt ask for an unlock code when I was on cm9, but I could not make calls.
Could anyone clarify? Do I need to unlock if I am rooted, using tmo on att note?
I dont care much for odin or that kies crap. I prefer reboot to recovery, clockwork, rom manager and put cm9 on it. In critical situations its a life saver.
So im waiting on the unlock code or to find out i dont need it but i bet I do, especially since i travel overseas a lot.
???
If you're on T-Mobile, and using an AT&T phone you will need to unlock it.

I am doing the same thing with my Skyrocket. I got impatient waiting for the unlock code and rooted it, flashed CWM, custom radio, and CM9 on it. Then realized that after putting in non-AT&T SIM I wasn't getting unlock prompt. Keypad codes to bring up prompt don't work either. Hoping return to stock fixes it and I can just restore the CM9 from backup.

You absolutely have to unlock whether you're prompted or not. Rooting and installing non-stock software on it appears to result in lack of access to the unlock prompt (guessing UCLE2 radio but it may have just been CM9 in general).
I'll let you all know how it goes.
Success
Returned to stock using k0nane's method and Odin here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342348, shut down, removed battery, inserted non-AT&T ROM, booted up, and was prompted for the unlock code.
Note: Those that are planning on using k0nane's method above should use the file he links to (SGH-I727-UCKJ2-k0nane.tar), another archive I grabbed via a different thread boot-looped my phone and I ended up having to do some extra work.

Unlock Bootloader...

Hey guys, im new to this forums so first of all, hello everybody.
so, i have this xperia l, and im not new to android devices, and i want to flash a kernel and a rom (more specificly, thunderzcap and ios7)
the problem is, i cant unlock my bootloader. In that screen after you type that weird combination of numbers in the dialer it says that i just cant do it (not allowed). I read it somewhere that i need my simlock code and something else, but according to what i know (and i dont want to believe t) this means it is permantly locked.
So anyone here knows how to solve it? I would defenitly love to unlock the bootloader so i can flash a kernel... or im stuck with my phone? i know there are other roms but it isnt the same thing...
Thanks in advance
If it's locked there is no going around it. So answer is no, if it says on the phone that bootloader is locked you can't unlock it. And there are NO roms that work with locked bootloader. For you to be able to flash a ROM on it you must have unlockable bootloader.
Sorry to give you bad news but that is way things are in your case.
Nothing you can do.................for now.
If we can get CWM going on the phone, we can flash packages. From there, if this can be extended to our phone, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2595238 then we can run CM variants on top of stock, and thus there is hope for the locked bootloader people, like myself, hopefully.

Flash Tmobile FW onto ATT GS7

I have the latest firmware from SamMobile and Odin 3.12. I also see the video tutorials on youtube on how to use those 2 items to get the flash done. Question, I will be switching carriers at the same time of my flash. I do not need to unlock the phone from ATT before the flash, do I? I thought that that phone unlocks were only needed when keeping the same load on your phone, while switching carriers?
You can't really mess this up, can you? In other words, of something doesn't work before the flash starts loading, you can keep troubleshooting it. Once the flash starts, that basically means you go it, correct?
Are there any other items I'll need or things to do before I flash the Tmobile FW onto my ATT GS7?
If the phone is carrier locked you won't be able to use it with another SIM until unlocking it, regardless of firmware. I assume you've already tried it with the T-Mobile SIM?
