Like the Title says I want to buy a new phone.
But since the prices are falling up to 15% per month when is the best time to buy a new phone?
Saw the Galaxy S5 today for 399€ ...
Also the Z2 and both are under 6 months old...

Phones are never fully satisfactory.
Tell us what do you like in phone.
I know which one to buy, Im just confused when I should do it because if I wait one month more I could save up to 15%.
Look if there is a new phone released its for example 700€. Just one month later its available for 600€.
Wait 2 months and its 500€.

It depends upon your preference
In my suggestion a new phone as arrived oppo N1
Its about $400
270° rototate camera which means u can use front camera as back camera
Back touch support (my the back side of the phone you can touch too)
No other phone as this features yest
Better buy used mobile, it's cheaper and better for ecology also.
Never buy expensive phones..... We can't do much with phones.

15%*7=105%
Means they will give you phone for free and 5% of its today price with it.

The best way is to buy good quality Chinese phone. you don't need to wait since prices are already low and value for money is unparalleled. You can change it every year and have the latest and still have have money left..

So I have a nexus right now and been yearning for something new for a fee months. I am on t mobile and eligible for a new phone. I actually want a dual core phone but I'm feeling so impatient. And if this phone is coming out now I doubt t mobile will release something better for atleast a few more months after that. So I would be able to get it for 150 on contract. I might be able to sell my nexus for like 250 so I wont be spending any money on that upgrade. Now, my other option is getting an atrix unlocked for full retail price of 500 and use it on t mobile. I don't want to leave to t mobile I like it for some reason. Even though I could get 15 percent off any carrier. But that aside what do you guys think. Because another option also is then sell the s 4g and buy the next good phone falt out and I might end up just paying a difference of 200 or something.
I would wait for galaxy s 2. My N1 can wait another 6 month. I am sure it will be by mid summers.

I can't wait that long damn. I'm desperate already.
Same here, I really want to get another phone on T-Mobile. Personally, I'm not a fan of Samsung, if I had to get one, I'd get the Nexus S (at least the software is managed by Google). Try flashing a custom ROM or something if you haven't already to breath some new life into your phone. I think I'd be worth the wait for something like the LG Optimus 2x/3D or the HTC Pyramid.
Yea I rooted my phone first week I got it. But its been a year already. I would like the optimus but didn't it come out in Europe like a month ago?
Samsung phones look like they were bought from the dollar-store ... just get an HTC/LG
The Galaxy S2 comes out in Europe in February/March. IMO the Atrix will be better, but meh. The LG Optimus 2X also looks very good.
i'm actually sort of in the same boat. i broke my n1 a month ago, and wasnt planning on getting anything new til the optimus or the pyramid.
but now i'm tired of using my HD2 with android, and wanting to get something immediately. cant decide between g2/myt4g or the 4gvibrant. i'm sort of leaning towards the vibrant but the lack of a trackpad or flash is the only thing that is making me hesitate.
i'm also definitely buying the pyramid whenever it comes out, this phone would essentially just be tiding me over till then.
I was in the same boat as well. I wanted to wait for the dual cores before buying a brand new phone so I decided to look for an HD2 to put Android on. It took about two weeks of Craigslist hunting before I got a good deal on one(190 with all the original access. including 16gb sd). I'm running a gingerbread rom on this thing and love it plus it will be pretty easy to get my money back for it in a couple months when the new phones start to hit.
Wait for next generation of nexus...

Dam I think I should wait a little more. The s4g is such a small update that I would be wasting my eligibility for something like it. And hd2? Naw I put android on it for my gf and I much rather have my nexie.

As a former iphone owner and current galaxy S3 owner. Wondering how often android users buy or switch devices?
As we know with Apple we only update every two years. Seems like androids have a new king every few months. So how often for everyone?
I usually change on a year, Last year I had a Galaxy mini, Today I have Galaxy Gio
I think I will buy Galaxy S2 in next year
I change whenever I feel like my phone is starting to suck. I started using Android late in the game, so my transitions went like this.
Got first Android, 7 months later gets a better one, and I recently bought my third main phone after about 1 and a half months of using my second.
So I changed rapidly last time, but my first to second transition took more than half a year

I just change my phones whenever I see a new one that I want, which is significantly better than my previous one.
Last year I had an X10 mini pro for about 5 months until the Xperia S came out. I've still got the Xperia S now but I got an S2 last month aswell. I probably won't upgrade until a new OS comes out, considering both of my phones will be getting JB.

I am still using my Motorola Droid 2 that I have had for over a year and a half. It still does everything I need it to do. In my opinion, the question will be whether or not you feel the need to always have the latest and greatest gadget. I don't, obviously. LOL.
There will always be newer, nicer phones coming out than the one you have, especially since there are multiple manufacturers battling for your Android business, and I'm just not inclined to try to keep up.
2-3 years for me ... Using HTC One X with ARHD 9.3.1 haha won't change that fast XD
i only buy the new phone only until the now-using phone is broken, or i will never drop it away.
Usually every 2 years when my phone contract expires.
So it costs me a new device (like S3) a copayment about 50 € .... thats OK.
2-3 years for me :good:
Every year. I have it down to a science. Get first phone at a discount on contract. Wait a year and sell that phone for $200-$300. Come out of pocket $200 for a new phone. Wait another year and get another phone on contract. No point in me going to prepaid...I get such good discounts on T-mobile that it is completely worth me keeping my contract.
I got my first phone in 1998 and since then I'm on my 11th phone. 11 phones in 14 years. I'll try to use this atleast for 2 years. But you never know.

A year and a half at the very least. And depends on new phones that I might like.
Late 2010 I bought my first phone (Satio & it's Symbian) due to some short circuit around August 2011, I decided to get a new one which is Galaxy S Plus that I've been using since September 2011 till now.

Everytime I see a phone that is slightly better ( read better performance) I want to buy it.. It`s just an impuls. I have to withold me everytime when i`m in a electronic store / phone shop to NOT to buy a new phone. Because I actually can`t afford it
Hey, guys. I can finally upgrade my phone and can only do so with AT&T. Should I go with one of the phones they currently have out (Galaxy S III, Optimus G, One X+), or should I wait for another one to come out, seeing as it will be with a 2 year contract? (Possibly M7)
I would say that it largely depends on what you have now. If you can't wait any longer, then just go ahead and upgrade. If you are willing to wait, then do some research about phones that are likely to be released soon. The rumor mill can be wildly inaccurate, though, so do try to manage your expectations.
If I were looking to get an S III at the moment, I would probably hold off since Samsung will most likely be releasing the next iteration in a few short months.
S4 and Note 3 should come out this year (few months) so if u can wait than I'd recommend that. However S3 is very capable and good phone, should be enough for next 2 years
The next best thing is always right around the corner...no point in waiting.

That's also good point. Either it's new TV, new car, new printer - in new technology everything changes very fast. You buy laptop for 1000 euros and next month his younger brother lands on a market and Your device is worth about 800 euros.
I myself have one rule - never settle with something what is low class at the time, try to avoid middle class and if resources let me, buy high-end phone - so it will last a little longer.
But for example now I'm using SGS+ which is enough, even if it's growing old
PS sorry for my bad english

If you are waiting for Google Play Store, please don't wait for them. The best you can do is get free shipping or playstore credit. For retail, the price starts to come down after a few months. If it is close to Christmas, Easter or any major holidays then there are great deals to be taken.
On a new device like this, Google doesn't usually reduce the price. They may offer additional incentives for the holiday season, such as Play Store credit, free shipping, etc., but that's about it. The price won't be reduced until just before the next nexus phone is released, probably 4th quarter 2014. Of course, there's always the possibility of some crazy event affecting the norm... but I wouldn't count on it.
Phone is already cheap for what you get. Check out the Moto G for $200.

I am fine with paying $349.That is a great price for the phone. What I am trying to decide is whether to purchase it now or wait for February when I will actually get to use the phone. I want to purchase it now, so that I can have it already. However, if it it might get reduced between now and then, it would be wise to wait. In the past have the prices stayed constant until the new model came out?

I'm done with Galaxy phones too. I booted up my S4 today to update it to the new MK2 OTA update because I'm getting it ready to sell. After a few weeks with my N5 I had already forgotten what a pain in the a$$ Knox is. Never again!
I, for one, am pissed. I just got into another 2 year deal to get this phone and they are talking about it's replacement already. They should have made it known, so people could decide themselves if they want to wait.
I'm not sure where you've been but in today's smartphone market, flagship devices are lucky to last 4-6 months before they are dated. The 2 year plan is not feasible for keeping the latest smartphone.

Transparency is all I'm asking. If the phone is coming out in 2-3 months, then they already are past the planning stage and may already be in the manufacturing stage. Either way, I think it would be decent of them to layout the long term. Don't know where you are but in America these phones are expensive and tied to expensive carriers, So I would like to know all my options if the ,manufacturer already knows they're putting them out.
If that's true I'm not really mad. The way I see it is that with such a short time between releases the M9 will be only a slight improvement at most.

Where are you seeing information about the M9?
I don't think they need to disclose anything... There will always be a newer phone around the corner.
You know that without them announcing anything... And if you are on a 2 year contract, what is the difference if a new one comes out 6 months later, or a year later. Changes nothing.
And if you are going to play the waiting game for the next 'big thing' you'll always be waiting, as there is always a next big thing coming...
The only thing I have read about an "M9" is that they are cancelling the M8 Prime to focus on the M9 which will be released in Q1 2015......... right on schedule.
So enjoy your M8......... I know i am.
If you wait for the M9 you might as well wait for the M10. You'll only have the latest and greatest for a month or two with all the flagship phones available.
I believe I'm in the Verizon forum and if so they have the Next program. If u got it when this phone came out they had a special which basically every month what Next costs you is credited back to you so you have the Next program free! New phone can come out tomorrow for all I care and I can trade my phone in for it with $0 out of pocket. A beautiful thing for the OCD people that want the latest and greatest . Those not interested there is the standard 2yr contract plan for phones. Easy two choices so choose wisely . Don't blame the cellphone company for your choices on how u will upgrade. They have to keep up with the times to stay in business, the user doesn't have to, it's a choice.

True but unless u find a real dummy ur never gonna get back what u paid. Still going to pay at least $100 out of pocket after selling 8-14 month old device. How much does an HTC One X+ go for today compare to when it came out? Example
I'd rather pay $0 out of pocket and upgrade when I want to and still pay only $160/month for two lines with 10gb of shared data. Just need to turn s on, unroot, fix tampered banner, flash stock Rom and return device. No one knows the better .

True true. The example I use for my case though would have to be the note 2. Once that got locked up on an OTA it started selling like hot cakes. 100-150$ for a new phone is perfectly acceptable for me though. I am losing some money but the enjoyment from the phone is worth it :good:

I did this to get the DNA, SG3, SG4, M7, bought M8 on contract, still have mint M7 and mint M8 and those will be sold to fund next flagship device of my choosing to buy off contract until I have my contract ready, or a new phone is out.
Personally, for me. I think I might deviate away from the HTC One series devices unless they make some serious design changes which I do not see. I don't truly have a need for the boomsound speakers and would give those up for a regular phone speaker and a smaller phone overall. (Just imagine the M8 without the top and bottom speakers, jeez, or even without the wasted htc logo bar) - sorry for off topic.
Dude, this is HTC WAY OF OPERATING. more than the others. I know, I was a huge HTC fanboy. I bought the Sensation, then 3 months in they announce Amaze...bought the One X only to hear DNA. I THINK THEY DEVELOP TWO at a time. I left for LG with the Nexus 4 then the G2, but get this, while waiting for the G3 I bought the M8 cause I couldn't wait any longer.

Does the M9 you speak of make your current phone any less usable? I dont understand this way of thinking. You could wait for this new phone but then again you might as well just keep waiting from now on because there's always something better down the line. Enjoy what you have.
Samsung, HTC, and Apple all release one phone a year in its line (ex Galaxy S). So the M9 in Q1 of 2015 is right on schedule. You're mad about that? I bet the iPhone 7 will be out summer 2015... Doesn't mean people won't buy the 6 this summer.
