i restored to stock gingerbread
then after connecting to wifi and restarting the router i cannot connect to the wifi
no such problem with other phones or on ICS
need help
i am rooted
i like gb as it gives more free ram so i would like to keep it

Bin spying for a while . . .
Story goes, laptop blew up, I have an x10 and a ps3, ps3 cant connect to adhoc wireless networks so I need a full infrastructure wifi tether. . .
Ive only seen that froyo can do it (i have j&z's custom 2.2 but just says error and ive seen the evo4 can with an app and from what I understand its my kernal that stopping me.
I dont have a clue, anyone else?

let me explain my problem better : i installed vipers 1.2.1 and it was great the only problem is wifi which i can not turn it on
some guys told me wipe cach+dalvik . then i wiped it and it fixed. wifi found my modem and i connected to internet.
but after rebooting my device while wifi was on, i still can't connect to my modem.
wifi is always on and i can't turn it off. it founded my modem but it always shows not it range.
what should i do now/? is it about the kernal ?? how should i find a good kernal ? should i download it then install it like a new rom?
i couldn't find any solution about fixing wifi problem in this beautiful vipers 1.2.1 rom

Hi I use viper and the kernel I use is Sebastian. I have no problems at all with WiFi. I suggest a fresh installation of viper, with a new download incase the old one is compromised. Do full wipe, cash, dalvik , wipe data factory reset, then install Rom. Then if you wish to install sebastian ( it's a great kernel for battery life too) install like you would a Rom. You should not have any trouble with WiFi then. If problem still is happening after that, l would post on the viper development because someone else might have same issue or know of a fix. In my office i have a wifi connection but it cant connect in phones it only works on laptop with some mail id and password. so that i tried tethering method to get internet connection from laptop to my android device. but i'm not expert to do this. pls someone help me how to use tethering and is this possible to connect first.
