Not an exact answer but it could in theory be:
Google voice input. Its always listening and therefore capable of dialing.
Disabled lockscreen. Back to the butt dial.
Some other app. We have no idea what's on there.

Might be worth a complete wipe and try over. Or its possessed and you need to burn it. Any third party dialer apps? Still under warranty?

If i don't find a solution, i'll try wipe it then in last option, send it back to the seller
Thanks you for your help

Butt dialing is when the phone gets unlocked in your pocket without you knowing, because it's still getting touched, it can call people or send random messages because of the touch input you're giving it without realizing. Big problem in America with tight pants + phones with lots of buttons and no lock screen.

Ok thanks
But the problem occurs even when the phone is on a table

Please try changing dialer app or update KitKat 4.4.4 it contains new dialer app.
This looks like bug for many while googled.

Recording Calls..?

If you have a Senation already....
Just wondering if a Call Recorder app will work with the Sensation..?? I currently use the SPB Recorder on my Winmo TP2 to record and play back calls and it is a lifesaver with client calls (my memory is bad!)
Really would like to know before getting a Sensation as this is a very useful feature to me. Sorry if this has been covered, but would appreciate any specific info for call recording (not off the speaker). Appreciate it if anyone has the knowledge or wants to try it out....
Cheers to all.
I tried out "2-way Call Recorder Free" and it did record both sides of the conversation. Speakerphone was off too, so it's apparently working correctly.
Many thx lezouave
That is really good to know...!
Appreciated

How did you get it to work? Whenever I hit the 'rec' button on the little popup, it turned on the speakerphone to record.

Actually, really want the auto record function. To have to press an additional button seems redundant when/if ALL calls can be recorded...

I know.. I still wouldn't mind it if it actually worked though!
Still on this...
Just curious, can this be changed when this bugger gets Rooted or S-Off or whatever the heck is done with the locks come off this thing..?
Still really (really) want this function.
Cheers

Thx for that.
Curious though, does it record well and 'without' the loudspeaker on?
In other words, does it record both sides of the call without an issue - there are other reports saying it needs to turn the loadspeaker on to work.
Please be kind enough to give some more details for all who are interested.
Cheers
both apps do not work for me...
the total recall made my phone go crazy..wouldnt record anything, couldnt hang up, then once I hung up the phone still thought I was on a call and the screen kept going on/off everytime I moved it...not good.
The other one (2 way call recorder) worked, but forced speaker phone. also, not good.
Any other options? I have a feeling Sense and the HTC dialer is part of the issue here..

I think this is what u may want
Androrec call recorder
It records both sides of the conversation, without having to put it on speaker, AND it starts recordings automatically.
All I have to do is periodically go into my SD card and wipe off non-essentials to save space.
And, before I get asked, I have no idea if I have S-off phone or not. I have no idea how to check, but guess have no need to, because my sensation does everything I want it to...
Thank you, I will try it.
AndroRec didn't work for me on the Sensation... could barely hear the other side.
Looks like Sensation is one of those phones that doesn't work well with the recording apps.
Yeah...it works without loudspkr turned on...and for both way...

Thx to all for the info.
Seems we have a mixed bag of success - can't figure why something will work on one and not the other..?

[Q] Vibration pattern

Hi all!
Iam missing every call and sms in silent vibration mode when iam walking in the street... soooo
Can i customise the vibration pattern for incoming calls and sms???
Iam using HyperNonSense ICS 3.32 based.
Maybe some registry hacks?
And not "Tasker" plz...
Thanks in advance!Sry if its nooby
First off, I'm a new member to XDA and others may have better suggestions then myself, but I figure I'd try and help you out.
For the voice calls, when the phone is in vibrate mode there is already a vibrate pattern that the phone uses. As for changing the pattern, I'm not sure how to do this.
For the sms issue, I personally use an app call "Handcent SMS". In the settings for the app, under "Settings->Notification Settings->Notification Settings->Vibrate Pattern->Custom" you can change the pattern.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help, hopefully someone else has more information.
Eeeh, its not the way i was looking 4 =) but thanks anyway..
I've found an app called "Smart Vibrator" in market, but it seems do nothing. Iam changing the pattern but it remains the same it was =(
Maybe in XDA were threads with useful apps for such customising?
P.S. is it OK for u all,who read this topic, to have such a badly vibration?
Or u got another methods to improve it?
Or doesnt matter at all 4 u? =)
Write suggestions plz =)

Are you using some kind of cover for the device?
Even with the soft (Silicon) back cover on my phone I can still feel it vibrating in my pocket.

Why didn't I think of that?!
The LED feature is pretty useless since we have only 3 colour options. :/

[Q] How can I definitively remove this tiresome bug ??

Hi, I am new on forum and on Nexus S, but not with ROMS
I love this phone, but since I bought it, I have a strange bug. Maybe it appears because I did with "rom toolbox pro" a full backup of apps on another smartphone (acer liquid metal) and now I restored all apps on Nexus S.
this is the bug: sometimes (normally when I'm writing a message, or simply using virtual keyboard) it appear the "open as..." window, where I can choose to open it with gosms pro or gmail.
I tried to open it with both programs, and after this window, on gosmspro the text message is about the bug report, with 2 attached files: 1 .txt files with description of bug (but it's too long, approx 4 mb of .txt!!!) and 2 a .jpg screenshot of bug (but in the image there is simply the lock screen).
In gmail it appears the same thing. But I can't understand where is the problem or where the bug starts, so I ask you how can I find it.
I tried also to uninstall some apps (like gosms, also deleting app data) but without progresses.
If you like it, i can post the screenshot of the bug, or also the .txt or .jpg files in the bug report.
Now I'm using the CM10 , and I had the same problem with Skank ROM.
Please help me, I never found an answer on the web to this tiresome bug. : /
thanks guys and thanks for your BIG work !!!

Absolutely. But from experience, it's a good idea to wipe clean once in a while. I usually do it every few months to keep the problems at bay. Sometimes you'll spend more time trying to fix an issue than it would take you to restart from anew, and even if you end up fixing it that's only an issue you see. You aren't fixing udnerlying problems...
So does anything actually crash or is it just this that pops up?

uhm, at the beginning i had 5-6 crashes, but I'm sure that it was linked to the overclock. In fact, when I put 1200 mhz, I was a noobie in that (because I came from smartphones that NEED overclock to have a fluid and rapid system), and when I reset it to 1000 mhz, it never did me another crash no more.
So yes, the bug is only this popup. I know isn't a little bug, but with the passing of times, it appears more and more times, so it's tiresome.
ah, few seconds before bug, the phone vibrate 3 times (everytime).
I'm using a plastic gel cover.
ah, another little thing that I hear yesterday for the first time: the front speaker at the top, sometimes (also 2-3 times in a minute, don' t know if it do that always, as in lock screen) do a very low sound repeated for few seconds (it's hard to explain this, it seems a radio frequency as "toctoctoctoctoc")...sorry for this onomatopea but maybe its' helpful for understanding what I mean
...any news from the .txt that I sent you ?
Take off your case for a whole day, don't put it on your phone. Tell me if it still happens during that day.
I can nearly assure you, up to 99.9%, that your problem will stop.
I know it sounds crazy, but do it. You can thank me later.

my last smartphone had similar problem (microphone of acer liquid metal won' t work well with case)!!
but now the case seems to create a worst problem!! I can' t believe that this simple accessories can made theese problems ( considering that technology should give us better phones in every kind of way)....

Tell me if the bugmailer problem seems fixed after using it for a while.
Edit: I don't believe the crashes are related however. I'll tell you the magic behind the bug mailer after you tell me if it's fixed!
ok I'll say you in 2 days!
however, for crashes, I think I did a bull**** using a bad app called "cache fixer", because I used to free memory with my old phone.
If I see crashes again, I' ll wipe the phone.
OMG!!! you seems to have reason (fortunately) !!!
I'm nearly sure to have fixed this, now I wanna know the magic trick!!
How a technologic phone can be shocked by a simple plastic gel ?!?!
I guess that answer it's or the semi-pressure of volume/on-off buttons, or somethink linked to the temprature (with cover it increases). Right ?
Other things: for now, no other crashes, but the strange silent rumor on the top of the headspeaker sometimes appears. Can the phone record this low sound on the top? So you ' ll understand what I mean...
for now... thanks!!

Your phone case presses on VOL +, VOL - and POWER all at the same time. That's a developper feature.
You can "disable" it by turning off USB debug but I highly suggest either fixing your case if possible or getting another one that doesn't press those buttons for no reason.
Edit: I have no idea what you are talking about for the other issue though.

It's strange for me that this is news because I've been using custom romsnfor so long that had this implementated. It's a good feature
I think the idle drain will be about the higher than without it (this is what I have noticed) but it's not massive so definitely a recent trade off if you like the service. I have a few Google homes and they all pick up my voice but then it knows from which device to reply from based on what's nearest to you.
I've used this mainly for turning on Bluetooth and setting navigation whilst driving. Also asking questions whilst driving that I want the answer to.

Do I have to be soft and sweet when telling him the truth here on xda? If telling someone the truth straight up is so mean and offensive to you than maybe you shouldn't be on the internet
The feature he wants(answering the phone using his preferred dialer app on the cover screen ) isn't supported on this device. Either use the app that supports the feature he wants or deal with the fact that he has to open his phone to answer the phone. Those are his options, unless you have another solution
I too was surprised by your tone - it seemed unnecesary to me, plus the fact you answered but didn't offer a solution. We don't need to be soft and sweet - just correct. If you spoke like that to a stranger in real life, it wouldn't end well...
Actually, zorantomas' post is the solution - so you dial out with True Phone, and incoming calls are handled via the Samsung phone app. That works, you can answer from the small display directly, and use the True Phone UI to make calls.
In short I doubt we will ever see 3rd part widgets for the small display since there will be security concerns about what is displayed without having to unlock the device, and it's a capability for - atm - a single product line.
