I've searched the forums and not found an answer that can help me outside of wipe and start over. I'm hoping to avoid that.
Every time I reboot I am presented the error: Unfortunately, System UI has stopped. I can't seem to find what has triggered it and how to get it back on track. Anyone experienced this before? Are there any apps I should be looking for that are known for triggering this behavior?
Thanks for any thoughts!

Little more info - what rom are you running do you have Xposed installed? etc.... Also what have you done to to try and remedy the situation
ya know a clean wipe is not the worst thing in the world, so many treat it like it is

I had a problem early on and at first it was adfree and then it seemed like it was a live wallpapers causing the problems.
Adfree removed and changed to a stock wallpaper and haven't seen the problem since.

Yep, relented and wiped it. Built it out with just one of my Gmail IDs and let it build up from there, no external APKs, no tinkering of configuration and just got the System UI error again. I really don't want to have to reboot after every app install :-|
It goes away after tapping OK a few times and seems to operate fine thereafter, just bothered by it at this point.

Hi everyone,
I searched before I posted, but couldn't find a similar issue.
I'm running Cognition 3.04, and touch input seems to freeze up. If I let the screen go to 'sleep' and unlock the phone it will work for a few seconds, then start freezing again. Sometimes I can just wait a couple seconds and it will accept input. Even after a reboot, it will start this behavior after a few minutes.
The issue goes away when I go back to stock 2.1, though.
I realize the obvious solution is to stay with stock, but I was just curious if anyone else had experienced this and knew of a better solution (who wants to be on stock).
Thanks in advance.
That has happened to me before. Went away with a fresh flash and wipe of cache.

You didn't restore system data when you flashed this, did you?

Do you have any over/underclock settings applied? Are there are any voltage settings that you find?

The first time I flashed, I did that which I later realized to be a huge mistake. When this issue started, I flashed back to stock did a master clear and reflashed Cog, but the issue remains. Is there some step I missed in clearing out the old stuff?
This happens to me in swype occasionally. Super annoying bc it thinks I am taking my finger off the screen when I am not causing swype to be worthless. after a reboot it goes away

I haven't played with anything other than flashing Cognition onto the phone.
I'm going to try going through the whole thing again, but this time not reinstalling any old apps/data through Titanium Backup. I'll set everything from scratch and see if that makes a difference.
Keep getting force closing when I click contacts or when I click the picture in messaging that brings up a bunch of options. I've reloaded my rom from scratch atleast 4 times. It works for a day or so then out of nowhere stops working and gives me force closes.

You don't have to start from scratch. If you just mount /system, wipe dalvik and cache (not sure if it's needed but never a bad idea), then re-flash the rom (no DATA wipe) it will fix the error and keep everything in tact.
Ill do that. Thanks. Any idea how to prevent it?

I believe I remember them mentioning it in the Tweaked forum. Not sure if they mentioned what actually caused it. I know Go Launcher (not sure if you use it or not) had a problem with it a lil while back also. I've had it happen once but can't quite remember if there was a specific reason or if it was just random (like when everyone was randomly losing root after a flash)
Thanks for the responses. I did what yiy recommended and it worked perfectly. I was wiping data each time, hence the frustration.
Hi,
just got my tf700 today and installed all my apps. It's now rooted, too.
Bit dissapointed that it has reset itself 3 times in the space of a few hours. This happened when entering or exiting apps.
Has anyone else had this? Would flashing a custom ROm perhaps help or worsen stability?
Thanks

edit --just seen this is a commonish issue. Any fixes rather than limiting background processes. I have done the ota btw.

Great! At least it didn't cost a ton of money and was really difficult to get a hold of too!!
It should help, but try changing max. background apps to 4 first (dev. settings in system settings).
Reflashing firmware and data wipe is always a good start too.

Yeh,,flashed to Zeus and set max at 4 and no resets so far , :fingers crossed:
Changing max. background apps to 4 - is there any way to make that setting hold between restarts (as it appears it resets)?

Damn, good point, totally missed this one! There may be a variable for it, can't find it now, I'll try to have a look into this in the following days.
Hi, i searched all over the internet. But i couldn't find anything related to this issue.Everytime i reboot my device in the morning,if i have 2 home screens , definitely one would be duplicated or one would be erased.I should say that duplicated screen or disappeared screen doesn't come back to its original position until i rearrange those screens.I'm on stock 4.4 Kitkat.I haven't root or did anything to the device.I don't know what causes this bug.Anybody have this same issue?I would appreciate any help.Thank you.
So no one encountered that kind of bug?
update to the latest 4.4.1 came out a couple days ago and see if that fixes the problem.
Are you running a beta of any launchers or just running the stock one?
Never had this issue when I was on stock 4.4.
let us know

Sorry, i expressed myself wrongly.I don't reboot every morning, just boot my phone after overnight charge.
Guys, I have the same problem. About twice a week I am losing one of my 4 home screens.
It always happens after a reboot of the N5. Always the 4th one is gone, and it doesn't come back if I do another reboot.
It's not at every reboot, but surely annoying, since the whole screen is gone.
Haven't had the problem with 4.4, started with 4.4.2.
And pls, no questions, why I reboot my device, this doesn't help to this topic.
Hi,
I am the one who started the tread. The bug is gone after the 4.4.2 update.Hope you find a way to fix that.

Wrong, if you're rebooting cause you're having an issue it could be related to the problem of losing your screens. More information is always better and if you provide incomplete information then people will ask questions.
Please don't ask for help and then act like you're above the people trying to help. Thank you.
There is another bug regarding this and is it related to GEL where some people are ending up with an extra home screen and have to hold an icon and release to get rid of it. I am pretty sure it is related.

Hi,
I have all the same problem about the disappearing additional home screens: it appens randomly(apparently) when ,at the moring, I turn on my Nexus 5.
(last standard firmware 4.4.2 on,GEL Launcher and Google Now disable).
I found this other strange thing: when i found disappearead additional home screens, if I had new home screens with only app in each, when I reboot, SOMETIMES, i found the old disappeared home screens(whit the preovious app icons in them)
I thought it was a problem of "Clean Master" "Delete Junk Files" operation but I cant reproduce the problem everytime.
Anyone have hints about this problem?
thanks
PS: Happy New Year!!

It's the same for me. Today I turned on the phone and the last home screen was disappeared. No way to recover it. I'm thinking to install an alternative launcher.
Some of us have it, some don't. This seems to be a NON Samsung device thing.
Right now what is happening is at first install Notifications DO NOT need ATNManager to forward them, they work just find with only gear manager. But after some time and a couple notifications (changes on case to case basis) notifications will just stop forwarding. Every now and then they will come back, if you're lucky.
I've been screwing around with ATNManager after finding a bug (posted here) and found that clearing the cache for the app fixed it. I could forward 1 notification before I had to reset cache on ATNManager.
I applied the same idea to the Gear Manager app (not Connection Manager or Gear2 or any of the other) and my notifications magically started working again. Both had a cache size of exactly 68.00kb.
I hear there is an australian Gear Manager that fixes this issue, but I can't install Samsung Apps to download actual updates so I can't install it to test. If someone can get that version of the Gear Manager can you please post the APK?
When I read the title of your post this morning, I thought "what the heck he's talking about?". That was after my notifications worked flawlessly for ~10 hours in a row. Then, a couple of hours later, they stopped. Now I understand exactly what you're talking about.
I did try clearing Gear Manager cache (and not Connection Manager or anything else this app installs). It didn't help.I didn't have ATNManager installed, as I didn't need it before. Should I try to start messing around with it?
EDITED:
I figured out rebooting the phone brings the notifications back. That's a good enough solution for me at this point of time...

Just reboot did the trick.
It's getting quiet here. For me a reboot doesn't always help. Clearing the Cache doesn't help as well. Sometimes there is actually no way to get the notifications working.

Hi. This won't help. Notifications stop whenever they want and there is no reliable way of reactivating them. Sometimes reconnecting within GearManager may help, sometimes rebooting the phone. Sometime nothing at all helps - even not clearing caches, etc.
