Hi all,
Maybe a stupid question but I simply don't no the answer
Is it possible to use a 2A car charger for the TP (with a 1340 mAh battery)?
I found one on ebay:

Only one way to find out. Wanna be the the guinea pig ? XD
I think it doesn't care, because there is an charge electronic in the mobile which regulate the charge current.
Maybe your charger can charge by 2A but the mobile will consume just 1A.
By the way: I've got a charger with 0.5A (not original from HTC) which doesn't work with the mobile at all.
with my mp3-player there is no problem.
Lol, it does not work that way with amps, although it DOES work that way with voltage ! if you put to many volts in you will damage your device, however if it is the correct voltage but very high amps your device will be fine, all that will happen is the device will take the current it wants and just leave the rest. infact if you have enough current (as in this case) you could charge two devices simultaneously, and they will both charge as quickly as when on the supplied home charger.
basically what doc said above !
Thanks for the input! Glad that 2A won't affect my TP.
Too bad though that TP won't charge with double speed (2A instead of 1A). Full in just half an hour would have been great...
Hi! I just received a fully functional HTC Himalaya, but unfortunately it didn't came with a Travel Charger included.
So I would want to make one, because they are hard to find, and on ebay the shipment takes a very long time.
I have searched the forum (and on googgle) but i cannot find the power supply specifications for the charger.
If you have one, please take a photo or type the specs, like this :
INPUT : 100-240V ~ 150 mAH 50-60 Hz
OUTPUT : 4.9V 700mAH (copied from a Sony Ericsson charger, LOL )
Thanks in advance!
Since this is the Himalaya forum, nobody has a Himalaya ?!?
Weird...
Really? Nodoby with a Himalaya ?!?!?!?!
58 replies and no response. WTF ?!?
Ok, found this image, but can't read the specs (too small)
5V 2000mAH ? CLICK HERE!
5volts is the only spc that matters
amps are not pushed into a device it's drawn by the device
according to owns law amp=volts/resistance
no device will draw more then it was max made to
so you can get a 5volts 1000000MAmp supply and it would make no difference
there is a lower amp level before it begin to charge but being that you can get
manual chargers with a swing it should be soo low it irrelevant
about the 5volts then that's in general seen as 5volts +-20%
Thanks for your reply.
I know that the ampers ar not so important, but i would like to know the standard value for a genuine HTC charger.
From what i see in the picture, it is a 5V 1280mAH.
That means that if i try to use a 5V 650mAH charger (that i currently have) the charging will be done 2 times slower.
So instead of 2 hours 30 minutes (for example) the phone will pe fully charged in 5 hours (quite a lot of time, in my perspective).
What do you think?
I think the charger that comes with the xda2 is overpowered vs. now much power the device will take in think thats the general deal with all wall chargers
usb will only provide 500mA
could take a look on my old charger apart that it's in the back of the cupboard so have to go passed tons of cables fans chargers and the likes so not right now
i just ordered 2 of these. i like the idea plus they are solar and charge all my gadgets on top of my phone. and shipping from china is 22 for dhl but they are worth it and are the size or smaller than our phone! holds almost twice the charge with multiple voltages including 3.7v which is ours.
Total was around $52 after shipping but just sell one or keep the other for twice as much! ill repost this link in thread.

Post a review when you get a chance.
Thank you.
What voltages does it support?

It is really a wonderful item, actually this solar charged Product not the advanced idea now, China offers such kind of things since long before. I have bought a solar mobile power rechargeable battery pack for my iPhone 3 since last year, which cost about $20, and now Pickegg sold at the price of $11.14, the prices are much softer at present. There are many other large online stores like Pickegg offers such kind of things, however, maybe no better price than Pickegg.

Ill post a review asap. they shipped already. should be where within the week. the LED light seems like a cool extra too.
I'll never lose cell power backpacking again!
also the reason i got this one was because of the capacity, almost twice the capacity of the G2x's battery compared to similar priced ones which were all less that 1500ma. in terms of price verses capacity/functionality this was the best i could find. plus it fits in my pocket (looks like the size of the G2x).
Solar battery charger
alright. i got the solar battery charger and on the box it says voltages above as stated. but the device has switches for output in 4.5, 5.5, 6.5, 9v800ma voltage options and so does its little 2 page manual. so appears to be advertised incorrectly, though all places ive seen this exact item the specs are all listed this way. exact picture and everything.
now it also says 5.5v has the widest range of compatibility (found this statement on another site for same device.) The box says like this (EXACT picture of this device but just in silver) --> " Output Voltage: 3.7v 4.2v, 5.5v, 9v, generally 5.5v, multiplicate output ports optionable"
Our g2x stock charger is 4.8v and any usb is 5.0v which. our stock batteries say 3.7v them. research said that 3.7v charge to 4.2v generally as "top off" surface charge which drains quickly down to 3.8v. now i have an adapter for LG phones (micro usb) that is from my multi charger kit i bought separate, of which has the exact same adapters as this battery charger came with, just had an extra for LG. they looks so similar that i feel safe assuming they came from the same factory.
now all that said, i've read the too high of voltage will ruin battery or shorten life. i know 4.5v will work but will charge slower than stock charger and usb. so my question is will 5.5v be ok to charge the G2x?
these have to be the same device. but both boxes had this. and both devices were different than box and online. but the picture on the box is literally the same device. not a single difference. i need some input. i pretty positive 5.5v will work. perhaps 5.5v has those options and 4.5,6.5,9v800ma are extras? or (crazy) this thing has a 1v difference from here and china. 4 options, all but 9v are around 1v difference?
Well, with voltages you generally have what... 10% play each way? Question is 10% from 4.8 or 5.0? Personally, I would stick with the 4.5.
And the 5.5 might not even charge faster because a big factor in charging time is current which is rated 200 mA less than the wall charger. Not an EE major. Any EE's out there?

I got a Solio Classic iGo. It is solid and is perfect for emergencies. Especially since I go camping alot. haha
So how did you end up liking your solar charger?
I saw your post, What did you decide to use as the voltage setting and how did it work for you?

These don't work very well and they get worse over time.
Solar energy sucks i use solar car charger to charge and lead acid battery and even that don't work very well.

Hi! I saw plenty of wireless charging pads on ebay, that can be put under the phone cover, but will they fit under the basic battery cover? Do I need to buy a thicker extended cover, does anyone have experience with these stuff?
I've been using one for months now and love it.
The one I have fits great under the stock cover.
Google "fonesalesman"
been using one that i bought from amazon and it works great and works with the default battery cover no need to buy a thicker cover

No worries might probably get one to see if it works. If not I can go back to touchwiz.

Thanks for the answers, I think I give it a try!
QI charging works for me, even when the phone's off. I love it. I have one of those stick-on pads that uses the phone contacts.

I have a wireless charger kit I got from a Chinese shop, it works great. Charges as fast as plugging it in.
I got it mainly because my last phone had the USB connector start to fail from repeated usage. I also have a bluetooth dongle on my PC and that's how I transfer photo to it, so my phone pretty much never gets plugged-in.

Pics of your QI pad, QI charger with phone screenshot charging data on QI wireless pls. If not, it never happened as pads are usually tagged up to 650-700 mAh, some could be tagged at 1000 mAh (but can not charge at that rate even if the QI charger is good, had one and tossed it away cause of bulge too).
I have the Ravpower QI charger tagged at 1000 mAh, Ravpower slim pad rated at 650 mAh and that's exactly what I'm getting from it - 650 mAh charging.
Dunno how could you get from 1200 to 1600 mAh from yours though... unless you consider 650 mAh rate as a "normal" charging rate.
Btw, you can transfer w/e you like via WiFi and with some good WiFi manager app, it's a lot faster then BT sheite.
@OP, you might search a bit on XDA re QI wireless charging pads and chargers. There are slim and not so slim pads. My advice is to calculate good as each and every one of them is going to get you a slight bulge on your phone back, no matter which one you choose. Better choose a ultra slim then a 1mm one...
Remedy would be to cut out a battery cover and use a good protective case in case you opt for a slim and tiny pad. Might not like that, but that's an option if you want your phone laying down on flat surface as it is now - flat on the flat surfaces.

Yeah, good to see your 600 mAh pad (based on the photo of it from your link) is charging at (what?) rate... say at least 1200 mAh (?), while your QI charger is outputting at max 1000mAh? :silly:
See, IMO it still does not compute and you can't get nothing more then 600-650 mAh from it, let alone 1000 mAh seen your pad is tagged at max. 600 mAh.
Showing the back of your charger is proving nothing at all, just so you know it, even your perception of charging times suggests something different.
@OP: Good QI and wireless charging will give 650-700 mAh tops, while on the AC charger and original cable can range from 1000 to 1600 mAh. On good and advanced USB PC ports you could get up to 1000 mAh (my case with Maximus Formula 6 USB ports).

Well boo-hoo princess, you are simply wrong.
It does charge very quickly, much faster than the previous one I had and about as fast as plugging the phone in. I don't have to plug the phone in to charge it any more or transfer photos so the USB port in it is going to last quite a long time.
@OP: sorry for this OT, but this guy seem to be writing a whole bunch of pompous ideas on his personal perception of the QI charging on SGS4.

"Boo-hoo princess" at me? "About fast as plugging the phone in"? What a true comedian you are... I can only grin and lol at your statements.
Wake up from that crazy dream of yours and quit blabbing around, spouting nonsenses. Technical facts all around XDA and Internet re adopted, custom implemented QI charging are not backing up your statement at all, alongside me telling you that imputing 2000 mAh from the wall charger that can be outputted up to max 1000 mAh from YOURS no name OEM QI charging unit to the no name OEM QI pad module, while you're using a no name OEM QI pad of 650 mAh max on a secondary battery contacts of your SGS4 phone = recharge rate of 1200-1600 mAh(???) = as fast charging rate as on wall charger(???)
Yeah right!
You're the new Tesla alright...:silly:
Then again... Continue writing that BS of yours and continue telling others to believe they'll pull 1200 to 1600 mAh charging rate from a no name POS combos on their SGS4. Bonus and btw, do continue using that slow BT instead of a WiFi for your transfers. I'm sure BT yields a better transfer rates then WiFi B/G/N if you're the one using it. I'm also certain that many users will follow your lead and advices. :good:
/oao
I did some careful checking and it the wireless charging starts at around 850 ma. The Ac charger I have starts at 1100 ma so a bit less than what I thought but a lot more than what you thought.
And because you're an arse you are now the first on my ignore list.
I did the palm pre mod, and I would not reccommend it. I fould that ot bulked out the case and made cases fit weird. If you do wireless charging i would get the legit one
I use a Qi wireless charging sticker/pad I got for $12 on ebay or Amazon (i forgot). The bulge under the original battery cover made the phone difficult to fit with my UAG case, so I bought a spare battery cover ($5 on ebay) and cut an opening to match the charging pad. I covered the opening with vinyl sticker to prevent dust from getting in. Now it fits perfectly in my UAG and Speck Candyshell cases. I use a LG WCP-300 charger that outputs at 1A.

Your transmitter is a fake yijieneng, I get these for USD 7 each, the receiver is a powerqi, can't confirm from the link if it's a real or fake one.

No samsung phone supports qi wireless charging pass 650mAh, no matter what the input states on the receiver.
Anything above 1000mAh will generation too much heat, only the LG G2 can charge upto 996mAh.

So true! Also the heat is the major breaking factor in wireless charging (all should know that and thank you for pointing that out), but that particular troll hid under his cozy little rock thinking he can get 1200 to 1600 mA out of his, now rectifying to obnoxious 1100... LOL at him and his BS comments.
I just hope no one will listen to his BS crap.

When it comes to qi wireless charging, I think I'm quite experienced on this, afterall, I've been with these for a good few years before it actually became a mainstream product, I also get many of the new stuff first hand, not to mention I was offered test a A4WP wireless charging sample, but I turn the offer down.
Hi Folks. I tracked down an authentic car-charger for my Mate9 via AliExpress. It arrived today and I've downloaded 'Ampere' from the PlayStore to compare and contrast its 'supercharge' charging abilities and the various other standard car-chargers I already have.
Maths isn't my strong suit and hope someone x an point me in the direction of the sorts if numbers I should be seeing when super-charging in the car.
I'm asking because after quick look using a standard cable and a 2.1A charger vs the Huawei official car-charger I was expecting to see a much greater difference in the readings - and certainly the supercharger to be higher.
Ordinary cable/cheap 2.1A charger = 940 mA
Huawei official cable and car supercharger = 840 mA
Any thoughts?
Cheers
Most important is did the supercharger charge faster ? Mine is very much faster than my normal car charger..
I ordered the real official car charger and yes it does supercharge
Charges twice as fast as my Samsung fast charge car charger
