[Completed] Secure Contacts Manager/Address Book (with db encryption) - XDA Assist

I am looking for a secure contact (and related misc. information) manager/phone-address book that encrypts the database and protects its records from other apps as well as in case of the phone being lost. This is for Android.
I've been looking for such an app for quite some time and in various sources. I found some people asking for something similar, but with no answers. I also found some "secure wallet" programs that could almost do the trick, except that they store secure information but no people's contacts. While, of course, I can record phone numbers (and addresses) in a free-note format, that wouldn't allow easy dialing of those numbers, or easy copying of the addresses to the navigation apps (Google Maps, Waze, etc.).
None of the contacts managers I found offer encryption/protection.
I thought XDA-developers would be a good place to find a reference to such an app, but so far, I couldn't find any discussion about those. I am surprised why nobody is interested in such an app. Or am I just looking in a wrong way?
I'd appreciate to be pointed to the relevant forum/discussion, and if one doesn't exist, - to the right forum where I can ask about one.

Hi,
As this isn't really a device specific question, I suggest you ask here...

[Completed] BROWSING HISTORY: Apps, Addons, Plugins (or if necessary) Programs

Please recommend (any) Android tools for "logging" each site I visit — my browsing history, in other words — and storing/exporting/forwarding/saving the activity somewhere accessible to me that doesn't involve rooting my Tablet?
I'm dismayed at how difficult it's been to isolate this one utility on Google Play . . . without unleashing widgets for history buffs!
Thoughts? I do not want to root my tablet!! Cloud? Something else?
Thanks guys.

Hi there!
I know Dolphin has this feature built in, as I suspect other browser's do as well.
Unless I'm misunderstanding your question?
In Dolphin, you swipe the screen from left to right, choose history and you can export it, or send to cloud. You need an account, as it asks me to sign in.....but I have not made one.
If you require more help, you will need to post your question here....

[Completed] [Q] Need VOIP calling application with theme's

I did some quick searching and I did not find much on this specific topic.
I need to have a tablet, Windows or Android, that can make VOIP calls internally to our office.
Of course we can use Skype or one of the many other VOIP services. But we also want the application to look "professional" and "customized" to our office (Our logo, matching color scheme, ect.)
We do not have the resources to hire a developer to build an app for us.
I've seen some incredible themes made for android, IE Themer. And by my understanding it shouldn't be to far fetched of a thought that there is a barebones VOIP app capable of being themed.
Thanks for the help! First time poster, so I assume I've made many errors. #Clueless

[Completed] OSMand

Hey there, I was using OsmAnd for a cupple of weeks, but I have a great problem with it.. I love the feature, that it's totally offline and provides a huge database of Addresses and Pons, but I live in Europe and we use a bit different address format :
Street, House number, City, State
and OsmAnd uses internally the Format
housenumber, street, City, State
So I got the Problem of incompatibilities of all my stored addresses, but also for those provided by Google search.
Now there are true the Web several tips how to fix it, mainly to use the Contactplugin. I downloaded it several times from different addresses but the result was the same : force closing apk... Sometimes OsmAnd or mostly the plugin itself.
I would be glad if someone could help me out because it makes me really ****ed up, I would like to use it instead of maps, so I would be able to delete maps, but if I want to do so, I would like to have mostly the same features, and the details on the map are not the problem.
Thank you for your idea how to fix this issue
Hi there,
You could try asking here, [APP] [Free] OsmAnd (online/offline GPS navigation), though the thread is pretty old and small.
You could also try asking for help in Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Thank you and thread closed!

[Completed] [Q] Site chat application?

Hello,
I am looking for a chat application to implement it to my radio website. I don't have idea which to use or which is best. I came across RumbleTalk and Cbox but still looking for more options before I decide which to take.
Have in mind I want to be able to post youtube videos and charts into it and I also want to have option for design makeover.
Thanks!!
Hi there,
I'm sorry but I can't find anything related to your question:

Good luck
Thank you!
Well I started researching on my own then. I made a lot of research in
finding a chatroom for my radio website. I used envolve for a
while till they closed up, pitty. I tried IRC but I truly did not like
the look and feel and the “mess” of text in there.
I had several points which are important to me.
1
– First I needed a chat that can be seen in mobile (all versions) so I
narrowed down the search for html5 chat room that look good on both
mobile and pc.
2 – I needed a custom design, I needed my background to be black or transparent. This was very hard to find (my site is dark).
3 – I do not like to install the chat in my server as this is high cpu and resource consumer. So I need a chat service.
4 – Lastly, I needed the ability to add youtube videos and upload files.
I have checked several chats and only 2 met my needs, RumbleTalk and Cbox.
I choose RumbleTalk finally as it can be integrated into my page and not only as toolbar.
Glad to see you have founded a solution.
Thread closed, thank you.

[Completed] dd (aka, Disk Destroyer, Disk Dump, Delete Data, Data Description, etc.

HOW TO ANSWER/REPLY:
The primary FORMAT of ANSWERS/REPLIES I'm looking for are of 2 kinds:
1. RESOURCE NAME: & URL LINK (Where to Ask/Look for this Info)
~&~
2. COURSE/VIDEO NAME: & URL Link
ULTIMATE GOAL:
I am interested in making a series of ScreenCasts (with slides) on use of dd to gather info on Android partitions (along with cat of info in sys), copy, clone, over-writing, and flashing ROMs.
RESEARCH STRATEGY:
I'm looking for the approach others have used for similar content. There are now literally dozens of MOOCs (Udacity, Udemy, and Coursera are excellent!) and other sites (some NGO, some For-Profit) with fairly good instructional design on Android internals. Rather than re-invent the wheel, I'm interested in finding VIDEOS (or hybrid content, plus videos), which include instruction and/or example of use of dd (or forked/derivative software) in the context of Android.
UNSUCCESSFUL PRIOR SEARCHES:
Yes, I already know that I may have to just settle for a precedent of Linux/FreeBSD videos, and/or prior art which only covers dd in the context of data rescue (disk imaging, forensics, etc.). And yes, I also know that Google and YouTube advanced keyword searches are amazingly useful, but I am hoping someone else can help me out, perhaps with just some obscure YouTube playlist that's relevant, or a course with a specific section that includes something like this.
WHY AM I ASKING THIS HERE?:
Unfortunately, I don't even know where to ask this question, and I've had terrible luck when trying to ask similar questions to this on other websites!?! But I know that XDA is where lots of Android experts reside
Thanks,
Paul
