*** Trick: Get your Magnetic sensor (compass) working. *** - Galaxy S Advance I9070 General

In some of the custom Roms for our device there is a bug that the magnetic sensor is not working. But we can calibrate it manually and get it working. Here is how:
For all the people who want their magnetic sensor to
work,
Download advanced tools from play store, go to compass calibration section and now rotate your phone in all three directions. Wallah! your compass will work. It is also a very good app with useful tools.
Hope it will help someone.
Here is the play store link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=scd.atools&hl=en
Press Thanks If it helps.

[Q] disable proximity sensor Xtreamer Aiki 5

Greetings from an Android newbie, (coming from a Nokia 3210 )
I got a Xtreamer Aiki 5, and noticed that the proximity sensor is defective.
Rom version 10.1
Internet learned me to download the apps Android Sensor and Hardware disabler.
Android sensor gives the following:
name : tmd2771 proximity sensor
vendor : Capella
version : 1
power : 0.13
max range: 1.0
resolution : 1.0
Hardware Disabler should be able to disable the driver of the proximity switch, but there are so many
drivers listed.
Does someone know the name of the driver which have to be disabled?
Go to the play store and search for a program called "proximity sensor calibration". Install it, follow the instructions and most likely all works well again for you.
I have installed and run the app, but i only get the message:
Rezound Proximity Sensor Calibrator is not responding.
Would you like to close it?
Even after a reboot same thing happens.
Is there another way to let the screen 'on' during calls (and skype) as well?
( app Screen On doesn't work on it )

Well, there is another program named "Sensor Kinetics" which might help and works on my Xtreamer. At least it shows the possibilities of the proximity sensor: There are only two states with Xtreamer (which is 0 and 1), you can't measure exact distances.
If you still see a problem I'd advise to reflash your ROM. Usualy that helps...

It took me some time, but i have done both of the recommendations.
Flashed the ROM and installed Sensor Kinetics. But no luck. When SK is started, there is no line in the graphic at all.
(found how it should look like on the website of that program).
It is for surenow that the proximity switch is defective, other programs give the same result as well.
Is there a way to change or disable the drivers of that switch, so the screen will stay on bright during telephone calls or skype calls?
Does someone know the name of the specific driver?

I just wonder, is this still the good place at the forum to put this question, or should it be transfert to a more technical part?
I don't know where to ask other than here, about this problem,

Jiayu G3 (MTK6577) Proximity Sensor Calibration

Hi I have a MTK6577 based Jiayu G3 (original version) which has developed a problem recently whereby the proximity sensor seems to have lost it's calibration settings. When in a call the screen will turn off when the phone is against my ear but then won't turn on again when I take the phone away again. I've cleaned the lens over the proximity sensor but this makes no difference. This is confirmed by using the Android app 'Proximity Sensor' which acknowledges when the sensor is covered but then does not change when uncovered.
I can calibrate it successfully in MobileUncleTools by going to 'Engineer Mode -> Engineer Mode (MTK) -> PSensor' and perform the calibration procedure. The proximity sensor will then work as expected until a reboot after which it is back to the same problem again. So I have to perform this recalibration after every reboot.
So what I would like to know, Firstly, is if anybody knows why the calibration in MobileUncleTools is not saved and does anybody know where the calibration settings should be saved to so that I can manually alter the settings. I have looked through all the system config files and I cannot find anything relevant.
Secondly, does anyone know of any other method of calibrating the sensor that would survive a reboot. I've tried various proximity sensor calibration app on the Play store but they all seem to be dedicated to a particular phone (HTC, ZTE etc) and don't work on mine.
Thanks for any help
Russell
Has no-one got any ideas about this then.

Yes, I've restored the Nandroid backup from when I first got the phone and it still is not calibrated.
There must be some way to save the calibration but I have no idea how. I've reported this problem on the official Jiayu Facebook page, I have emailed Jiayu direct and not had any response to either message. I have tried emailing the developer of MobileUncleTools as to why the calibration is not saved but, again, got no response.
So I really don't know what to do now.
Do you tried to install firmware again with the Flash Tools?

I have recalibrated the proximity sensor as per Russell's instruction and then backup and restore. Sensor lost calibration again after reboot.

What vredniiy did in the 4.2.2, is add a init.d file contains
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
echo 900 > /sys/bus/platform/drivers/als_ps/psthd
This is the Proximity Calibration trig.
vredniiy's stable v3 ROM is good and stable enough, thought.
please help- when i try to install this new rom, my systems keeps saying installation aborted. what am i doing wrong...i have a jiayu g3

Well, I guess this is not an isolated issue. Here's what I did after doing a Factory Reset on the phone:
1. Go to Settings
2. Click on Display
3. Make sure that your phone is on a flat surface, and then click on Als_ps calibration and proceed to placing an object over the phone.
(I used a folded sheet of paper and placed it over the phone and pressed the calibrate button. Once it was done, I got the completion message.)
After doing this, I was able to place and receive calls without the screen blacking out. Even when it did, I was able to wake up the phone's screen by pressing the power button.
Hope that helps.

micromax a111 sensor fixed

I have read a111 roms .there are bug in sensor , i think developers port all files from base rom and permission , sensor control by init.rc . So developer edit init.rc according to Base rom init.rc.
try to replace libsensorservice.so and if still it doesn't work. Use Winmerge to Modify ported rom's init.rc according to stock one.
Other way
Step 1: Download the <a title="GPS Status & Toolbox" href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eclipsim.gpsstatus2&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5lY2xpcHNpbS5ncHNzdGF0dXMyIl0." rel="nofollow" target="_blank">GPS Status and Toolbox</a> app from the official Google Play store.</p>
Step 2: Once it’s installed, open the app. Make sure that you’re connected to a WiFi hotspot and that your GPS is on. Make sure you can pick up the GPS signal. Go outside if you have to.
Step 3: If you have a strong enough GPS connection, the app should populate with various location and positioning info. Wait for that info to populate before proceeding to Step 4.
How to fix Gyro
Step 4: Make sure the phone is on a level surface and is laying perfectly flat. Keep in mind that the camera and speaker grill sticks out a bit on the back, preventing the phone from laying perfectly flat. Lay it in such a way that the camera and speaker grill don’t get in the way.
Step 5. Press the Menu button and go to Tools > Calibrate pitch and roll.
Step 6: And you’re done! Test the gyro by playing a game of Temple Run or something.

Compass issues after upgrading to Lollipop

Hey guys,
New smartphone user here. I've had Nexus 5 for a few months now.
Lollipop is really well made and the new visuals are great. Everything seems to be working well so far, except for my compass. It does not work either in my Compass app or in Google Maps. I've seen a few threads where people lost some of their sensors, so I downloaded Sensor Box to see what it would find.
The magnetic sensor works properly, but there isn't a "compass" sensor in it. Are they different or is the compass position determined using the magnetic sensor? The GPS Essentials compass does work, but it feels very slow and it's all over the place.
Additionally, when I start my Compass app, it does not activate Location like GPS Essentials would, although, it fetches my current address properly on top of the compass itself. (see attachment)
Could it be just that the compass works in a different way in Lollipop and apps have to be updated for it? I'm completely lost. Any help would be appreciated, guys.
Cheers,
I am experiencing the same issue.
I'm also having this issue, only app I did get it to work with was Compass 360. But I really only would need it for Google Maps, so this is still very annoying.
Did anyone come up with a solution, or at least an explanation yet?
Or does anyone know where to file a bug report about such an issue?
Are you sure the APIs just didn't change with Lollipop? If one app works and not another, it may not be a Lollipop bug.
Kompass is dead on for me, no issues whatsoever. Try moving the phone in a horizontal figure 8 to calibrate the kompass and watch for electrical/magnetic interferences.

Compass issues

Hi guys,
I have this phone now since launch and it is for me a good phone. But now i realized something that is annoying me.
In the specs is written that the phone has a compass, when i open a navigation app or compass app nothing works that show me the direction the phone shows.
Has somebody information to fix this?
I found a solution (temporary?) for this.
I restarted in the save mode, then it works.
Then i started again normally and still working.
Maybe the cause is an app. Will see when it happens the next time, but for now i just let it.

What compass application are you trying?
I've not ran into any issues with compass on my One Vision.

I tried with google maps, here go, and 4-5 compass apps just to test. Usually i don' t need any compass app, so i installed any i have seen in google store.
For now it is working, read my posting above.
