So I'm running linaro Mahdi with linaro uber kernel and I left it unplugged over night. It went from 92% battery to 16% in the morning. Android system ui took 47% according the battery setting. Any ideas what's draining the battery?

Oh I thought that process was specific to something. I used wakelock detector and it says that Google now woke it up 6000x so I'm guessing that's where the drain is from?

it very well could be. if its a "stuck" process, the best thing to do is to just reboot, as a reboot usually fixes them.

Android System UI is exactly that, the user interface. It normally hovers around 2% or less on a stock machine but custom UI elements or perhaps even widgets could drive it further up.
What custom UI elements and widgets are you using?

One of those is most likely the cause. If the issue continues, you might want to remove them 1 by 1 until it goes away. Alternatively you can remove them all and add them back 1 by 1 until the issue reappears.

I was reading more about that process and one person said the high drain is due to having pocket mode turned on for the lock screen notifications. So im trying out using peak to see if that lowers my drain

Hello,
Is there a way to make the fliashlight work even at low battery level? Mine stops working when the battery is 30% or less !?!?!? very stupid, may be at 5% is ok ..... but 30!?
thanks in advance
Maybe try a different flashlight app. I like Tesla LED.

when i got the phone, one of the first things i've done is to turn off the power saver
Install "Extended Controls" and place a widget for the flashlight on one of your homescreens. I just tried my flashlight and it works, my battery is at 7% right now, with Power Saver Turned Off. This way you don't need to install any more flashlight apps, you have flashlight toggle ability with one touch from a homescreen, plus you have an awesome app that does A LOT more than just toggle on your Rear Camera LED.
Also, Extended Controls is just absolutely awesome to have because of the ability to customize functionality widgets to the fullest. A must on any and every android device that I own.

Just bought it per your recommendation - I can only agree, the Extended Controls are great: A perfect addition to HTCs built-in "Quick Settings" in the notification drawer.
Maybe once more people have S-OFF developers can tweak this to run at low battery settings, Probably some Smali editing
Anyone know a real fix for this yet?
My Desire HD won't use the flashlight in Camera modus when battery is below 15% while the energysave option in settings is turned off.
Can it be hacked to below 5% ???
Latest leedroid kernel doesn't force torch of until it hits 15% but forcing it down to 5% would be silly as the phone powers off at 5%
Sent from my Sensation using Cyanogenmod
Good find - solved more than one problem for me
Thats stupid, my DesHD shuts down until all the way to 1% left.
Not 5%...
If I still have 5% left, I bet I can take a guick picture with flashlight and still have 30 to 60 min. left off battery power, enough to check incoming messages.
(maybe not to check facebook or twitter with 3G or make 30 min calls, but plenty juice to answer a phone and tell the other person where I am, or sent a reply message of where i am at the time. 5% is more than you think. I once had 1% left, and I closed all backgroundrunning programs and killed the internet connection and the phone went on for almost another hour!!)
So killing the flashlight for taking photos from still having 15% juice is lame.
Besides, as Android is socalled "open source" and userfriendly, they should let the users decide (with an options/settings menu?) if the flashlight should be killed at 15% or not.
Not the developers.

Go in Google now and uncheck the "ok Google" shortcut. It could be that mine doesn't usually sleep that well that I'm not seeing a huge difference. Speaking of permissions though, I actually made it so G+ can't wake the device because I don't use it, and it still wakes it sometimes.
Try gsam from play store. And if rooted....gsam root companion as well.
Do a full charge, 100 to low....no reboots. Then print a few gsam screens. The main screen, app screen, and in app screen.... Click the drop down and screenshot time held awake and kernel Wakelocks. Also, maybe "screen" screen and radio screen.
I know its a lot, but between all these your issue should show up.
Tho....if you have terrible signal ever while on data....that will crush your battery.
Good luck!!

You're battery calibrates every time you charge it. No need to do anything else.
I'm noticing more than the normal amount of "suddenly my battery is draining" threads. Seems to coincide with the update to Google Search. I also noticed my battery draining itself with nothing being reported in the battery page last night but a reboot put an end to it as usual.
Hey all
I had a wake lock trigger that was draining my battery so I decided to try and find what was causing it. I turned off all background sync and disabled GPS. I charged my phone to full and then let it drain over night. As you can see in screen shots... Massive drain occurred with no visual signs of the cause. Anyone have an idea?

Did you get any shots of the Kernel Wakelocks and Partial Wakelocks screens in bbs? That's where you would see the culprit(s). Also, do you ever do soft reboots? Some people (including myself) have experienced increased battery drain with no visible wakelocks after soft rebooting. Doing a full reboot seems to fix it.

I can't do much with what you have. That's why I requested you provide a BBS log.
I can tell you that you need to go into Developer Options and disable NuPlayer (and reboot). That's (one of) the culprits of crazy battery drain in 5.0. I don't use ElementalX, so I can't say if it's default settings are contributing to your problems or not. You may want to roll with stock until this issue is fixed?
I recommend for now turning off NFC and turning location off or setting to GPS only. Working pretty good on CM12.
