Hi guys,
I'm very new to this- rooted my xperia arc s last year and installed cyanogen and since then haven't done anything as it worked perfectly! Went to install a new ROM this morning and made a rather stupid mistake!
Was planning to install slim bean
this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1959054
I hadnt flashed the new kernel, but booted in safe mode and got to step 8 (had wiped cache, dalvik cache, formatted system).
I then realised that the kernel and slim bean files that I was going to flash were no longer on the SD card as I had formatted it before booting in recovery mode.
Not really thinking, I exited recovery mode.
Now my phone won't boot (system is formatted as per step 8 in link above). I can't flash anything to it with fastboot (as far as I know) as it won't recognise my phone as a device.
The sony logo appears, and nothing else. Won't boot into recovery.
As I said, I'm quite new to this, but is there anything I can do to save the phone?
xperia arc s (lt18i)
android 4.0.4
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi guys, I need a very BIG HELP...
first of all, I'm a bit new with the flashing,,etc
I had the latest update on my Xperia Ray 4.0.4 ICS,, then I decided to flash it,, my bootloader was allowed unlock but i did not unlock it
i followed the walk through where you root without unlocking the bootloader
I flashed my phone to 4.1.A.0.562 kernel,
then flashed again to 4.1.B.0587 kernel,
went into CWM and installed Xperia Ultimate HD 3.0.2 from sd card,
then i saw the MOD 4.4,
installed it from sd card by using CWM
all worked well
then i messed up everything
i wanted to remove the MOD
I went into CWM recovery mode
I had "wipe data/factory reset",
then had "wipe cash partition"
then install the Xperia Ultimate HD from sd card...
after installing, the phone remained on the Sony logo screen without loading...
I tried to flashed it but on flashtool it said "need to root"
I used fastboot mode,, and unlock my bootloader successfully..
I flashed it again to 4.1.A.0.562 kernel and then to 4.1.B.0587 kernel,, but still nothing happened :'(
my phone is still stuck on the "Sony" logo screen and I cannot enter CWM recovery
And i think that my phone was not on debugging mode or unknown sources checked
Dont know what to do....... :'(
PLEASE HELP...................

did you follow the instructions of the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1924291 correctly? you also said in the end you able to unlock you bootloader, so flash at fastboot any kernel that is compatible with the rom you want or the one the provide.
OR
IF you want to repeat all the procedures from the start flash back your stock ICS ROM then root it the way you know how to root it..install CWM then GO follow the instruction carefully of the ROM you wanted to try just be careful not to brick your device by flashing rom not intended for your device
GOOD LUCK!
Hi,
I also ended up with a bricked Xperia Ray. If you did not unlock your bootloader, you should be able to restore your phone with Sony Update Service. That worked for me, until I unlocked my bootloader. Once unlocked, the software refuses to do anything with your phone and you're forced to take more drastic measures.
The method demonstrated in the video worked perfect for me. However, you'll have Android 2.3 running. If your bootloader is still unlocked, you should be able to update with Sony Update Service. If not, you can try do download a more recent stockrom and flash that with flashtool. That worked for me. I still had to flash another kernel though, to get Doomlord working again and root my phone. I used RecoveryX to flash CWM recovery on my phone.
I also recommend Iced Bean 3, it's work really well on my phone. Don't make the same mistake as I did and do format /system, /cache and /data, as instructed. And follow these steps to update to 3.5
Hi,
I had been trying to fix the touchscreen calibration problem on my sister's Xperia J (TIM branded) by flashing another ROM/Firmware.
I flashed "st26i_11.2.A.0.31 Kernel By [email protected]_Central Europe.ftf" using flashtool by mistake before I installed Clockworkmod itself. I copied the Darkmoon AVD ROM (Ref : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2309415) to the external card . I booted into Clockworkmod and took a backup of the stock ROM, then as I checked to see if I could see the ROM in the "install zip from sdcard" option, I could not find it since it was reading the internal storage instead of the external sd card. Then I rebooted the phone to check if I could transfer the ROM to internal storage but now I am unable to boot up the phone and nothing happens. The screen remains blank (though the backlight is visible).
I need urgent help to fix this. Please help.
PS : Bootloader unlocked.
PPS : Probably wrong thread. Mods please move if needed

You got bootloop, simply there is no rom to boot, what is more kernels with CWM are from CM which is not compatible with stock rom. Try to flash 11.2.A.0.31.ftf clean using flashtool, there might be need to remove battery to avoid booting and again get bootloop.
P.S I did even worse thing when I starting to play with android (I've flashed kernel from Arc S)
I feel dumb. But I flashed the kernel.sin from http://www.4shared.com/folder/25Mb7Dws/Xperia_J.html and it booted normally.
i switch off my phone it takes longer time to switch off so i suddenly remove my battery and reinsert it and after i power on it so simply sony logo what can i do for that
So i decided one day to root my device i happened to do it with CWM i am currently running CWM 6.0.3.2 that turned out fine so i install a couple of roms like changing the animation of the boot screen ( running mario and i changed the font and updated to 4.3 which it was normally 4.2 i tried 4.4 but it wouldnt install so i left it then i decided to upgrade to taktik my device cwm wouldnt read my sd so i formatted it ( i dont care about the app data or anything just pictures and music so i backed it up to my computer )
heres when it started acting funny i did what was told to install taktik on a forum but my device still had the data on it after i rebooted (i thought that was abnormal but now i know it was supposed to do that i think because it still stays after i factory reset) so i go into cwm and i format all the data, the system, sd card, external sd, cache and everything else under mounts and storage i reboot and now im here
i can install a certain taktik rom and certain taktik gapps and it will boot up but it has bugs or glitches like a MF and it wasnt doing that when i had first installed taktik
Will thank all those who help bring my device back to normal
Are you still having issue

I noticed this is an old threat. Many times it is best to install custom roms, boot into android, then go back into recovery and install gapps. Some roms need to be set up once before they can accept the gapps.
Not sure if that was your issue, but other might find it helpful. It solved a lot of my problems.
If you still have an issue write back with what you have tried.
Earlier today I was trying to Root my Sony Xperia M2, I unlocked bootloader (althought it reset my device?), and then I flashed my Xperia into CWM. I then realised I didn't put the ZIP package I needed onto my SD card so I tried to exit the recovery, it didn't allow me and this is when the bootloop started.
I wiped everything, Cache & Factory reset, meaning I probably don't have an OS, I've tried to use 3 different ZIPs and like 30 different tutorials to get out of this..
Everytime I use a ZIP file it, the CWM recovery mode, and normal recovery mode, says E:\ Cannot find Key (After it looks for a key folder in the ZIP). I'm sorry for being a n00b, but I really need help
If any of you guys could help, I would really appreciate. What I think I need is, is a ZIP file that I can actually install, but you guys are the Experts. Thanks.
Fixed
I fixed the problem, but now it's a different model number than what it originally was.
Hi guys!!! It's been years since I was last here, I suddenly decided to upgrade my GT S7500 to custom firmware but I have a problem.
While I was at work today, I decided to play with my phone, to make recovery through ClockWorkMod, since I was goin to flash a custom FW through CWM later at home.
My GTS7500 is running a semi-custom ROM, I have changed it years ago and cant remember the exact changes but it's almost same as the vanilla ROM, with minor bugfixes.
I haven't booted CWM in years so I can't remember doing anything or having any problems in the past.
So I unlocked my phone and clicked the CWM Mod icon, the app starter and then I selected to 'Boot into CWM"
My phone rebooted and I am now into CWM.
I haven't done anything, but I am stuck in the recovery.
I screwed around holding some buttons and stuff, and I managed to get to ODIN (as far as I remember this is the screen to flash firmware through USB) but this didn't help me.
I tried removing the battery for hours and it didn't help.
I have my ROM backup on my microSD flash card, from 2012.
What should I do?
Should I select "Restore Boot" from the CWM recovery?
Or should I attempt to flash the new custom ROM straight ahead?
The screen says: CWM-Based Recovery v5.0.2.8
Thanx in advance!
HI guys a quick update: I managed to mount the storage of the phone and microSD to my PC through USB from withing the CWM recovery menu, I am backing up all the data on my laptop.
I found a file called 'exitrecovery.zip' on my microSD card, may be this is the fix I need? May be I got the same problem years ago when I reflashed the stock FW but I cant remember? Thanx again for all suggestions!
PS: I only managed to 'mount' the micro SD card from within CWM Recovery, for some reason I cant mount the internal phone storage, which is bad since I need to recover my contacts and phone numbers!
FIXED IT!!!
Seems like the CWM Recovery was not installed properly!!!
I installed this: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2359572
Through my current CWM recovery and now it seems to be working fine!!!
Thanx to this DEV!!!
PLEASE RECOMMEND ME A GOOD ROM!!!! WITH LESS BLOATWARE AND FASTER EXPERIENCE!!!
TOGO FLASH PEGASUS or ACECPLUS or INSPIRATION???
Which one is best?
Which aps to install?
Thanx in advance for all reading this!
