Editing Icon Packs - General Questions and Answers

Hi there,
Is there a way to unpack and edit the assiging on icons from a icon pack? What I've done so far: Unpacked a icon pack, edited the appfilter xml, saved it, signed the apk. The apk installs fine but it won't load the icons that I assigned in the appfilter.xml
Any thoughts?
THanks!

How to change Folder icons or Program Icons?

Hi
I know that the folder icons are store in the FolderIcon.dll and pointing to it via the icon.ink file will cause the folder icon to change.
Question is how to view this FolderIcon.dll file such that it will display all the icons within the file. So that I can know which number is associated to which image
for example FolderIcons.dll,-8884 is associated with image of a folder with tools
Also, how to change the program icons?
Thanks

Editing PNGs on PowerAMP

I want to replace the icons and edit the color of the widget text. I found the files and edited them for the text and photo-shopped the icons. Rezipped it and resigned it. I uninstalled the old poweramp (left the unlocker installed). Installed the new re-signed one using root-explorer but it says can't open modified apk install poweramp from market. Pretty annoying I just wan't to edit the icons for the widget is there another way replace icons for the widgets without editing the apk?

Where are Nova theme icon packs located in phone?

I used to be able to extract the PNGs from icon themes because Notification Toggle can't change icons unless its saved on your gallery, but recently they changed locations and I cant find them. I've been using root explorer trying to search for the folder location to extract the PNGs of certain icon packs (like Nox for example) ...anybody know the location of these icon packs?
they dont show up under system/app or data/app\
EDIT: never mind found it under MNT/ASEC/

[Q] Changing all icons to black&white

Hi there,
So recently I got Nexus 5 after 4 years of HTC Desire. Quite a huge leap performace wise I might add, and this phone is absolutely a sweetheart. The first thing I did was rooting the phone
Anyways, I am thinking to change the color of all icons (including icons of applications) to black and white. I get it that I would need to extract the icons first, and then change the color using some icon or icon editing program or simply a photo editing program etc.
Now what I would need to know is that how can I repack the icons back to the application? or would I need to place it in some directory and fiddle with some xml file?
Cheers!

Why don't you just use a Launcher that allow you to use custom icons? with Nova and Apex you can do it

Icons are icons. The colour of icons does not need xml files. Its all controlled by images.
You can actually repack quit easily, but also takes a lot of effort. You need to look at the villain rom theme engine. It is a flashable zip that unpacks each apk and replaces whatever you have in the zip in the apk. Essentially you would have /system/app_name/res/icon.png (pretending that this is the location of the icon in the apk, each will be different I expect)... but you have to do this for every app.

Transparent status bar

Is there a mod or a way to turn the sense 6 status bar fully transparent like AOSP KitKat, unlike its current half transparency. Please do not suggest exposed, I'd rather edit system files.
Sent from my HTC One M8
Status bar (and others....)
If you decompile SystemUI.apk (found in /system/priv-app), look for status_background.9.png in res/xxhdpi and edit the image to make fully transparent. The xxhdpi folder also has the images for all the status bar and quick toggle icons if you should choose to change those as well...
As a note - I did this on my work computer (without actually decompiling the apk) by extracting SystemUI.apk to my dropbox and then simply renaming it to SystemUI.zip and decompressing it with 7-zip. After I made the changes I wanted (signal icons, wifi, nav bar bg, and some others), I re-zipped the contents of SystemUI (not the folder itself as it will make a redundant directory in the zip file and break your SystemUI), I renamed back to SystemUI.apk and placed the new SystemUI.apk in the appropriate directory, making sure permissions are set correct. Then reboot....
This worked for me... it's a bit tedious, but I get bored at work sometimes... lolz.
