Hi Everyone,
I am looking for a kid friendly ROM to put onto my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. Ideally I want something very easy and simple to use. My five year old daughter will use it primarily, but she will also share the tablet with her three year old sister.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Davo
There is an xposed module that can make it to where only certain applications can be used unless the unlock code is entered Tk did a video on it on XDA developers YouTube
Install any kitkat rom so you will be able to make restricted profiles
Hi All,
Thanks for your suggestions, I will definitely investigate further.
However I am also wondering if there are any custom ROMS specifically designed for children? Perhaps ones with large 'kid friendly buttons'.
Kind Regards,
Davo

Hi All,
I just realized that I have the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3, so thankfully I can use [ROM] [T210R/T210] KidzRom by gr8nole UPDATED with more languages.
Kind Regards,

First off, greetings and salutations!
I am new here, and I sincerely hope I will get along with everyone.
I will try to contribute where I can, but for the moment I have a question, instead of answers!
What would be the best choice, not personally, but from a technical standpoint, for a rom that is barebones but still has decent functionality? DevNull? NSCollab? I'm so confused.
Friendly greetings,
Ben M.

I'd go for NSCollab. It's stripped out but with a few genuinely useful extras and you can flash Mathkid's latest kernel for extra features if needed.
Hi guys,
Firstly just want to thank anyone and everyone in advance and im sorry if I have posted in the wrong place. Very new to all of this and have just rooted my phone today. I was under the impression I would be able to install kit kat 4.4.2 to my device. (Note 3 build number n9005xxudmj7) but can't quite find out how.
Any info or additional things I should be doing would be great. So far been able to add additional apps to s-pen and multi window, customised a few settings. Any other tricks people know of would be great but mainly would like 4.4.2.
Thanks again.
Anybody have any info??
Best is to read first before asking questions.
Questions belong in Q&A section, not general.
Rooting is a personal choice usually made for a specific purpose, I would recommend anyone just to root to see what happens, since it's a relatively delicate procedure, plus potentially voiding your warranty.
Read, analyse, think, choose and then you are welcome to ask.
Hi xda-community,
i recently got two new android devices the lenovo tab 2 a7-30h and the samsung galaxy grand prime (sm-g531f). Now to my question: is it possible to make the hole interface or atleast the homescreen (including icons and such) the same across both devices? I read about something called "loaders" maybe you guys could suggest me the best one for my kind of needs?
Thanks in advance for any answers i get.

Hello, and welcome to XDA!
What you are looking for is a common "launcher." I can think of a few.
The "best one for my kind of needs" is very subjective, and I don't even know what your needs are, except for a consistent experience. The Play Store has many more, but the links above should give you a good start (can try the Google Now Launcher first).
Hope this helps, and good luck!
I am about to embark on upgrading a Samsung p6810 7.7.
I see a Marshmallow omni available and also one called Homemade.
What is Homemade? How does it differ from the Marshmallow? Is it a better bet to bring my 7.7 as up to date as possible?
Forgive my ignorance but 'search' does not seem to like the word homemade.
I also see a rom for the earlier Android 5 but, as a noobie, I cannot see any point in loading a superseded system.

Homemade in the rom hacking community means someone literally made it at home, so it's probably buggy. Use lollipop(5.x.x) for now since marshmallow is new and is still buggy.

Thanks for that advice - particularly about going for Lollipop.
I struggle with the 'search' on these forums. Could some kind soul point me to the Lollipop software for the p6810 Samsung 7.7
Thanks.

Here is the development section for your device. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-7-7/development
Usually searching in google for your device name and xda shows if there is an available thread on xda.

Thanks in advance for the recommendations

There is an active thread here for asking about device suggestions, find that thread and post your question there, don't start a new thread just to get suggestions. Threads are for solving issues with a device or for writing guides to use on devices.
