Enable art runtime? - Shield Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How do I enable art runtime? When I enable it in the developer section and reboot it is back to dalvik again. Is it not possible to enable it or am I doing it wrong?

Are you running the xposed framework module? If so, ART is not compatible with it.

Yes, I am. Thanks for your help.

Probably wont be able to have Xposed and ART together for a while either. Rovo89's Response to ART

Starting from Xposed Install - install/update it
Then go back, Check for Modules and Tick Mark on it. Then Reboot.
Similarly Downloads options is there where you can find and access stuff if you tick mark it under Modules and Reboot it.
You are done
Hit Thanks if I Helped You.

Hey Bro, Dont move any apps.
Uninstall Framework, then remove Xposed Installer app, Remove all modules. Reboot Handset.
Then Reinstall the Xposed Installer app and install framework. Reboot and install modules and check them in Installer box, Reboot again.
Everything will be normal.
Sometimes the framework becomes unresponsive and causes lag. I've faced this issue once.

Yeah. Just missing the check box.
actually you don't need to install any additional apk. I simply go to xposed installer and download/update 'GravityBox' module. and then start 'Xposed Framework'. it should work fine after restarting device (it did for me.)
hope this help

Its clearly written on main thread that install gravity app on internal storage...
if done tick it from xpose app reboot and your done.............
Just ran into this exact problem after my Nexus 5 was upgraded to 4.4.2. Step by step uninstall/reboot, reinstall framework/reboot, reinstall module/reboot didn't work. Installing the Gravity box module from the apk did. Thanks OP.
This took a few tried, but I eventually got it working doing the following:
1. Install the xposed installer from the apk file.
2. Reboot
3. Install the gravitybox apk, the hit Done. Don't hit Open.
4. Reboot.
5. Open xposed installer, go to modules, tick on gravitybox module
6. reboot
That worked for me, nothing else did up until that point.
Also Gravitybox is sweet, has all the tweaks that I've always used custom ROMs for.

Here's a helpful tutorial for newbies like me:
Work only in Internal Memory
Only if both the apps are installed DIRECTLY (not moved after) in Internal memory... the issue will be resolved. other wise... it will be a problem once in a while...

Thanks. Proper rebooting each step of the install/enablling is the key
Just realised this: worked with GB2.7.6. The solution doesn't work with GB3.0.1 - could not even check the module in xposed
The latest version that does not exhibit this problem is version is 2.9.6 - xposed allows the checking of the module, and after reboot, I am all good!
Final edit: apology - I was on custome rom. under .254, xposed (2.5) and gravity works ( 3.01)! But I can't find the "quicksetting tiles" menu in gravity...(?)

Unable to switch to ART in 4.4.1

Just installed the OTA via custom recovery, everything is set up fine. I'm running stock rooted 4.4.1 with CWM recovery, only mods I have are xposed framework with gravitybox.
Whenever I try switching to ART from dalvik, the phone starts to reboot but after the reboot when I go to developer options the runtime displayed is still dalvik
Xposed framework does not support art. Uninstall xposed if you want art

Are you sure uninstalling is enough? I tried uninstalling xposed and it's modules. Still no ART

[Q] Cannot turn on runtime ART

I just changed runtime Dalvik to runtime ART. But after reboot it doesn't show runtime ART. Not sure it already changed to ART or not. Any help??:crying:
Hi,
Do you use Xposed Framework?

Are you running Xposed Framework? If so, you can't change to ART. Xposed is incompatible with ART, and the latest version prevents you from switching to ART so you don't end up in a bootloop.

CM11 Mods

I am after 2 in particular, not sure if they exist for the ROM. I would like the Advanced Boot Menu, very handy. I have the flash file, but is it good for CM11? I am also after a centre clock for the status bar, something simple yet can't find it.

these 2 are available in almost all the existing CM roms
Advanced reboot menu can be enabled from dev settings too.
Or can be enabled using exposed.

Thank you. Found the Reboot Menu, how can I go about the Centre Clock?
You can do it by exposed too
Gravity box or xblast or xui mod

As for power menu, I activated the reboot menu on dev settings but there's no option as for reboot in recovery and other stuff. Has not been implemented yet?

Switch off - Reboot - Profile - Screen capture/snapshot - Airplane mode - sound switch ... this is ok, the "problem" is the lack of submenu in reboot
You don't need CM11 to do any of this. It's all in xposed either gravity box or xblast tools.

[Q] ART

Okay Odd anyone enable ART then reboot only so find out it stayed in Dalvik? What ever I do select ART reboot etc never enables ART. Ideas?
Are you rooted? If so do you have Xposed installer installed?

Can you not enable art if you are rooted and have exposed installed?
Rooted you can... But Xposed and art don't play together... You would have to delete Xposed then art should work with no problems...
Rooted and Xposed
