Hello Everyone!!
This is my first post.......I am really impressed by the community here.
I live in South Korea and own a Samsung Galaxy A (its only for Korea). You can check specs on gsmarena.
My question is can I change its firmware with Galaxy S or Nexus One or HTC Desire? As they have different Processor than this model and different screen sizes?
Does all hacking techiques that are applicable to Galaxy S will be applicable to Galaxy A as they have somewhat identical OS?
Thank you

Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. I can see you've asked the same question here:
[Q] main board s3 i535 to samsung galaxy s3 sch r530
Please refer to the XDA Forum Rules for information regarding the creation of duplicate posts/threads.
My guess is that you can't mix and match boards from different models, you should only ever use hardware that came from the exact model that you have.

Now that Samsung’s finally started distributing the long-awaited Nougat update for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, many owners of the firm’s other handsets have started to question whether their unit will be graced with the latest flavor of Android. To clear up the confusion, we’ve decided to compile a list of all the Galaxy-branded devices that will be bumped up to Android 7.0.
Check it out below:
Galaxy A3 (2016 and 2017)
Galaxy A5 (2016 and 2017)
Galaxy A7 (2016 and 2017)
Galaxy A8
Galaxy A9/A9 Pro
Galaxy S6
Galaxy S6 Active
Galaxy S6 edge
Galaxy S6 edge+
Galaxy S7
Galaxy S7 edge
Galaxy S7 Active
Galaxy Note 5
Galaxy Tab S2
We also expect the Galaxy J5 (2016) and Galaxy J7 (2016) to receive the Nougat treatment as its predecessors made the jump from Lollipop to Marshmallow in a relatively timely manner, though that’s not confirmed at present. The Galaxy Tab A tablets should be on the list as well, according to our sources. Unfortunately, it’s unknown whether Samsung will provide the upgrade for cheaper devices, like the Galaxy J3, as there may not be enough demand. Only time will tell.
With regards to carrier-branded smartphones, all of the major operators in the United States should roll out the firmware for handsets in the Galaxy A, Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series. However, an exact time frame remains unknown. Some of them might start pushing it out around the same time it starts arriving on international units, while some might take a few extra week — and we can only wait and see what happens.

New to xda and adroid alike. I have several devices and not just android so i have a proposition. List of devives at end. If someone can walk me through the complete process of rooting and installing custom roms and everything else step by step from beginning to end on one of my devices then i would offer one of the others up for trial purposes as long as whoever tries their very best not to brick it as warranty will be out the window of course. Almost all are still under warranty and most are rather expensive.
The at&t s7 edge is what i would like to root but may be better if i learn on something more practical and less expensive. I am pretty open EXCEPT the to s7's are off limits u til i am positive whoever may take me up on this knows exactly what they are doing. I really dont need any bricks as my house is wood and vinyl.
Here is what i have from cheapest up at least in what i see in them.
Digiland dl701q 4.4.2

Samsung s7 edge sm-g935a 6.0.1
Samsung s7 active sm-g891a 6.0.1

*ipad mini 2
As you can see i have a couple and always picking up others if i can get a deal on them. The s7's i think i want to wait on unless i can find some spares reasonably priced but just about any of the rest should be fair game depending. Like i said teach me, and experiment all at the same time. If there are more than one person/people that want to take me up on this then maybe we can work something out or ill just have to choose which to do. Endgame is to be able to without hesitation be confident enough to pick up any android and do whatever is possible with it, i mean isnt that what androids are all about?
