I created flashable zips of the messaging app with higher MMS received size, in the original AOSP Roms messaging app the Pictures come in overly compressed & are sized at 30kb. This will fix that issue and your Picture messages will come in around 200kb-400kb. This wouldnt be possible if it wasn't for @zandarillis for teaching me how to fix it.

Thanks for testing the slim version sir [emoji106]
Already got mine fixed but thanks for the flashable zip! This was getting on my nerves. Downloading for the next time I change ROMs.
Anyone know of a fix for sense ROMs or have they been having this problem? I had the problem when I was on complete stock.

I've had this fixed for about 2 weeks just never made a thread & your very much welcome. Sense Roms 4.4.2 based for Verizon all work perfectly fine for me, 4.4.3 based has issues. Only 2 4.4.3 based roms for Verizon that don't have MMS issues is S-Rom & NuSenseSix.
OP Updated with AOKP & AOSB Project MMS Fix.
I added the Roms which MMS Fix work for which, I can't test all Roms so I didn't name all available for the HTC One M8. If you test a Rom thats not listed can you say which version works for which & I will edit OP to show which MMS Fix works for that Rom. Thank You.
OP Updated with EHNDROIX & Liquidsmooth MMS Fix
Just tried a few times on slimkat and my MMS are still 30kb. Not sure why it's not working

Ok I flashed Slimrom 8.0, Slimrom Normal Gapps & the Low Quality MMS Fix for Slim then rebooted. I then sent a test MMS to myself & long pressed the received MMS chose "Message Details" the size was 267kb. So MMS received seems to be working fine for me on Slim 8.0. What Custom Recovery are you using?

Trying going to settings in Messaging & scroll all the way down to User Agent. Chooser "Custom" & type in HTC6525LVW then try to send yourself a Picture to see if the quality is improved.

Thanks that did it. Came in at 350kb that time. Sent at 970 and I had them coming in higher than 350 before.. Anything to make it better that you know of?
Thanks again though. 300 is worlds better than 30

Honestly I have no idea how to make the MMS pics Sense 6 quality which is 500kb. The highest I seen on AOSP/GPE Roms are 350kb with these Fixed Versions.
Thanks for this. Works perfectly on Slim!

No problem, enjoy them Normal Quality pics
Works on 8.6.1 but I noticed if TRDS isn't activated, the Messenging app is still somewhat blacked out. Is there a way to get the fix without the blacked-out look?
Also, is there a guide on how to do this ourselves?
Thanks for the work!
EDIT: Actually, I went into Settings and changed User Agent to HTC6525LVW with the stock Messenging app in Slim and sent pictures to myself and it works. Does your flashable zip just change this automatically or does it change anything deeper than that?

i personally believe a stock AOSP CM10 without mod, is pretty much stock and pictures can be found all over xda.
its really not graphics changing here, its a CM10 release.
Uploading next update,
audio fixed, graphics bug gone, hardware video playback and youtube HD , tested and works.
what seems not working now
light in soft buttons.
Microphone (someone knows the /etc/sound/ tinyHAL config and a solution?)

Just to confirm, since this has features from CM10, I'm guessing this is Jellybean, not ICS?

Oh yes. I guess I didn't mention that either. I'll go back & edit the OP.
Just something I slapped together to see if I can get it working on the D800 and what features I want to incorporate into my multi-flavor CM base build I am working on. I did not take the time to compile these ROMs. Other users have compiled them and I just ported them to work on the D800. Just sharing these versions for now until official ROMs come.

Doing the same as this individual and will see what comes out of it.
So far so good. Was getting random FC on android.process.media while Play Store was downloading all my apps which caused Play Store to crash, but that seemed to have stopped once the Play Store itself updated to the latest version that came out recently (the one where the menu pulls out from the left side rather than via a button).
Now everything seems to be working just fine. No FCing, keyboard works. Gonna report back after a few hours once I take it through its paces for my personal use. Thank you soooo so much, I couldn't stand the stock LG ROM.
EDIT:
No default ringtones or notification sounds if that counts as a bug lol
Also just got a FC from android.process.media again on the home screen randomly.

Downloaded and flashed (using latest gapps) and the camera / gallery is having force closes. Every time that the camera is opened, I get "Unfortunately, Gallery has stopped" however, when I open gallery, it works properly.
* Data connects properly
* Texts seem to come through just fine
* Google Now always says that there is a network error and to try again. EDIT: seems to have resolved itself.
* Gmail / Email seems to be working
* Browser is as fast as ever
* APN's seem to be set correctly on both epc.tmobile.com and fast.t-mobile.com (LTE)
So far, excellent start!
EDIT: I can't seem to download anything from the Play store. I can browse the play store just fine, but can't download?? Probably just my phone, but thought I'd mention it.

Thanks! I was going to buy a second device since I can not tie up my main phone flashing and what not. I am short a couple of hunderd so I will put it towards the new device fund. I use AT&T but can get a T-Mobile edition and just sim unlock it. I was going to get the T-Mobile version and unlock it but my friend had an upgrade he did not use and owed me a favor so I got the AT&T version instead.
Everything works in mine minus keyboard fc back key not mapped and random freezing that require a hard reset

Would someone flash this and see what happens? It is a hacked CM build to see if it works with T-Mobile. It is CM build for AT&T with kernel from Wootever and the few small changes to be needed to work for T-Mobile. I do not have T-Mobile G2 to test with. If it works I will port a few more ROMs for you T-Mobile users.

lol it took me a while but i finally got data working.
this is 4.3.1. i know its a little late with 4.4 starting to come out for our device, but i'm just getting some practice and knowledge in.
heres a download for you ladies and gents
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23212708291681464
also after you flash rom and gapps, select power off in twrp instead of just a reboot. otherwise itll bootloop. other than that though it seems to be running fast and solid so far! give it a shot, see what ya think.

I've been on this rom all day and it's been solid for me so far, no reboots or anything.
unfortunately, this upgrade to 4.4 wont work like that. pretty much every rom out there seems to be coming from AOSP scratch and rebuilding. completely new code.
however vanir has their 4.4 repos up and ready to go. also cm updated their repos to cm-11.0 today. I got a successful build of vanir 4.4 but gapps is force crashing on startup, so im trying to get that fixed before i upload it.
also 4.4 vanir is pretty close to stock right now, but the vanir team works extremely hard and updates every day so we'll get our customizations in due time.
on a side note... are you likin this build of vanir 4.3.1?

Downloading right now lol just updated sig. 1st 20 min dl failed 105 mbs. My router is 4 years old. Hopeflly I am getting a new router lol. I have a newer comp but router is old lol.
keep up the good work.
Edit: After a days use I give it a thumbs up. brotherross on 4.3.1 can you have option to change clear recent apps on lower left because on phones that are big its hard to reach their if your lefty?
Thanks keep it up
After a couple of try on the installation i manage to make this work (was getting bootloop even after the process but after third time installing it worked, i dont know why)
First thing, this ROM is Crazy fast! Been a while since i got to use something gonig this fast. I like the customization it's packed with too. As i just flashed this i can't really comment on battery life or even reboot but i'll stay you tune on this.
Question. Are custom kernel like Jrior or Azn one working on this? Didn't try it right now but i'll probably do so when i arrive home. And is Azn KingBeatz gonna work on this too? Anyway, i'll try when i arrive home and give feedback if nobody tried this.
Another question more concerning the rom customization. Is their a ways to change the longpress back button setting? I like putting Kill App their but i dont see how i can do that on this rom. And is there a reason why Vanir Inverted is in theme? I know a bunch of rom have a tile that can be switch on/off for Dark UI but is their something different havingit in the Theme section?
Anyway, congrats on that build, feels awesome in hand!
did you power off instead of reboot after you flashed your gapps package? that seems to be the best work around for the kernel bootloop kink.
I haven't personally tried either of those custom kernels on this ROM, but I do think they'd be worth a shot to try. don't know if kingbeatz will work either.
hardware back to kill is in developer options. as far as the dark theme goes, its just how the vanir team decided to include it in their project. it works just like the dark option from other ROMs.
and thanks man

Ya i did the power off thing, didn't work first time, second i tried reboot and didn't work either and lastly i retried with power off and it did work.
Now, I flashed Jrior Kernel + KingBeatz, went into bootloop "sight". I powered it off because i was going for supper and now it won't open back... Might have drained battery and now it's stuck. I'll charge it for a while try reinstalling all without Kingbeatz / Kernel independantly and see what comes out.
Thanks for the fast answer!

Try this rom+ torched + V4A Viper 4 Android audio. Make sure its 4.x apk. Better then what your using. u have to enable advnced user mode on V4A though easy.
I was using Viper4A before, but KingBeatz gave me better result "on 4.3.1" essentially because it was release before for 4.1.2 and after that nada. Viper4A was the one i used after that. Gotta try another time.
But how did you manage to flash Torch? Each time i tried it bootloop
And i had a question, if i want to reboot my phone normaly, do i have to go through the same pattern as Power off and then turn it back on or this was only for the rom installation?

Man, you're not gonna stop till you have this development section locked up huh?! Awesome work. I build for my personal use. My wife would divorce me if I did as much as you.
You gonna give Ubuntu Touch port a crack?

I had a problem installing an app (Amazon) from the app store so I changed the DPI from the default of 250 to 240. After going to step 2, I got boot loops. I cleared the cache and was able to get back in the rom.
Are there any Android 10 AOSP ROMs that work with Verizon? Every one I install doesn't detect my Verizon SIM card. Don't get me wrong OOS is great but I miss AOSP.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

I use treskmod on Verizon. https://treskmod.ru/ It's omni with a pixel theme, extremely stable. 90hz and everything works perfectly. Just be sure to follow the omni flashing instructions.
It's sad that we can't use roms like havoc yet, I really miss that one I'm sure they'll get fixed eventually

I know this is an extremely late response, but do you know if MMS works on treskmod? Every ROM I've tested so far required Textra for MMS
