[Q] Secure Launcher Locked down whole Android OS - General Questions and Answers

Posted in the general section before. If any mods can take down that post.
I have a Galaxy Tab with Secure Launcher Installed and only 4-5 apps installed. Everything else is blocked. Coincidently the app google now still works and play store works when searching through google now all other apps auto-close upon opening.
I once installed Nova Launcher which completely bypassed the Secure launcher and opened the whole tablet basically having 2 launchers installed. But after 15 mins of use secure launcher kicked in again and killed the app and now even after installing nova launcher again it just auto-kills it on start saying no privileges.
Now i just want to know its just a launcher that is blocking the whole tablet[Galaxy Tab 4]. Is there a work around for this?

anyone know this?

TWLauncher Problem

Hi all, need some help.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 and the following error appear sometime.
TWlancher (process.com.android.laucher) has stopped unexpectely.
How can I fix that.
Appreciate.
Sorry if this seems like a flippant response, but ditch the stock Touchwiz launcher and try Go Launcher HD. It doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles like cute scrolling animations and whatnot, but it's really smooth and clean looking.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.go.launcherpad
It made my Tab experience much better, and doesn't have the bloat or odd behavior of something like ADW EX launcher.
I had the same issue, TW Launcher would constantly force close.
This started to happen after I was installing a bunch of apps at once and trying to remove widgets from the home screen. I ended up having to do a factory reset and installed Go Launcher as soon as I got the tablet up and running again.

GoLauncher HD = Best thing ever! Unfortunately though on the TAB version (HD) of the Go Launcher you can't sort apps inside folders ?!
I like Go Launcher EX way better on the Note. You can move apps inside folders around just like on iPhone!
I'm having a recent problem with GoLauncher. I've got it set to run as default but every time i check TWLauncher is also running. This is driving me nuts! Any help? BTW, not rooted yet.

[Q] Setting up fresh install

Hello, I'll try to keep it short.
I have a nexus 5 since mid-august and the first thing I did was install CM11 using the installer.
There was a guy that helped me set it up back then, and I have no way of contacting him now. This is where you come in
I know I had the nova launcher installed but I also had the google now screen (when you swipe to the right). Also you could bring down the notification panel by swiping down in the middle of the screen.
Do any of you know how I can get the same functionality back? I've been searching the past hour but there doesn't seem to be a way to add the google now cards to the nova launcher even though I'm pretty sure that's what I had before I installed the new ROM.
Chances are you had either https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.launcher&hl=en or or Cyanogenmods CM Home launcher instead. I think both of those support what you're asking about.
Google now, no idea about but ye Nova has a gestures menu where you can set gestures to actions.
Nope, I had the nova launcher for sure, and now if I think about it I may have only had the google cards (some sort of widget), not the entire google now "page" .
Edit: Nevemind .. I just found the google now widget in the widget menu.

[Q] CM Launcher showing ads even after uninstall

I recently tried the CM Launcher, but uninstalled it again after a few hours.
Now, though, even after rebooting the phone a few times, I still get ads for its wallpapers on my lockscreen (something like once a day): i.imgur.com/j65PlPH.jpg (too new, cannot post URLs yet...)
I looked through the installed apps, as well as the running processes, but I cannot find anything that seems to point to the CM Laucher:
i.imgur.com/CCwkccR.gif
i.imgur.com/jdctXGy.gif
Update: Problem solved. The ad was not generated by the CM Launcher itself, but by one of the themes that I had used with it.
Once I uninstalled that theme, the ads went away.
Also, a quick FIY for others who might be fighting with lockscreen ads: You can find out who created the ad by long-pressing it (at least in MM). The banner will change to the app that generated it, and from there on it's child's play to remove the culprit...

[Solution] Fix 3rd party launcher bug with new gestures.

So as is commonly known, if you use the new gestures on 9.0.2 & a 3rd party launcher (such as Nova) when you lock the screen with an app open you will get automatically brought home upon unlock. I figured I'd try something random to see what it did.
This requires root & titanium Backup.
With Nova Launcher set as my default, I opened Titaniam backup & froze the stock Oneplus Launcher. I lost the home/recents gestures (interestingly enough, I still had back working on both sides).
In toying with it, I backed out of titanium Backup to my Nova home screen. Discovered I had no home or recent apps gestures & concluded that was a lost cause & opened up Titaniam backup again. I unfroze the Oneplus launcher and called it quits.
However, I started noticing that I wasn't always being taken to my home screen when I lock it with an app open. I've tested phone calls and several apps (reddit, ESPN, Chrome, messaging, etc...). When I lock the app open, I get taken back to that app when I unlock the phone again!
So in short, here are the steps you can use to replicate
1) Have a rooted device with Titaniam backup installed
2) Set your default launcher (mine is Nova)
3) Open Titaniam Backup & freeze the Oneplus Stock Launcher
4) Use your back gestures unil you get to the home screen (this probably isn't required, but I'm just including exactly how to replicate)
5) Go back into Titaniam, unfreeze the Oneplus stock launcher.
See if it worked! Let me know if this works for any of you. Also mention if you bothered with step 4,so I can update accordingly.
Really wierd since I don't have this issue at all.
I'm using latest nova and if I lock in instagram/telegram/chrome/camera or whatever app I'm in I get the same app after I unlock.
But good that you brought a fix for this that's facing this.
There is a simple solution that I posted in the thread above this one. This thread will probably be closed.
Delete the stock OP launcher then the home and recents gestures don't work. Install OnePlus Launcher from the Play Store then reboot. After rebooting uninstall the OnePlus Launcher that you just installed from the Play Store. Then reboot again and the gestures will start working like they should. I did this on OB6 and 9.0.2 Stable pie and can confirm it works for me. I use Nova Launcher as well. Then you won't have to have the stock Launcher installed at all.

Or better: just install latest oneplus launcher released 9th November and problem is gone. (yes.. For 3rd party apps aswell)
So I seem to be facing a different problem. For whatever reason I'm not sure I have yet to figure out why. Everytime I update my launcher past 3.0.0 and reboot my phone automatically installs launcher 3.0.2. I have never had that version of the launcher on my device. I can update to 3.1.5 and as soon as I reboot I have 3.0.2
Picture one is updated launcher
Picture two is after reboot

3rd party launcher flickers while opening apps samsung s10e

Hi,i have installed oplauncher using magisk and its been installed successfully but whatever 3rd party launcher i use in stock samsung rom or beyond rom etc other than asop rom i get this wierd problem.whenever i close an app and open other app the screen slickers a sec and launching the app. i've done some googling and what i got is only samsungs one ui got this problem because some said the stock launcher is tied with the gesture navigations. is there any magisk modules or any other root method can solve my problem?
if you wait for a second on home screen after closing an app then this issue won't happen. But as soon as you closed an app and touch the screen home screen flashes for once.

Interesting. Then best to use stock launcher in OneUI roms.
My S10e model G870U does not have this problem, using free version of Apex Launcher Classic on stock Samsung OS (OneUI 2.1).
