[Q] Root for Android 4.2.2 - General Questions and Answers

Hello!
I'm new to XDA Developers but I have some knowledge about what's happening in here.
I have this device (Lenovo A526) which I bought just last month, it has 4 GB internal memory but half of it is used in system apps and files.
After a month (now) I used up all my free space so I decided to buy a 16 GB SD Card so I could download more apps and store more files.
I was about to move my apps to my SD Card but I could not find the "Move to SD" option. Well, this option used to be there in my previous
devices. What happened? I remembered that I had this app called Android Assistant and one of its features is to move apps to SD Card. I
downloaded it and tried to move apps to SD Card but it would just redirect me to Settings>Apps>Certain App where I could not find the
"Move to SD" option. I tried several apps but none worked, they all do the same. I have searched Google for solutions and I found two more
options; using Android SDK, and rooting. I tried using the SDK first. It did not go as it is expected, my device could not be detected. I tried
rooting my device but I could not find anything that is exactly for my device.
I am willing to root my device. I tried using update.zip, framaroot and some computer programs but none worked. I found ways to root some
devices like Samsung, LG, Sony, etc. But none for Lenovo A526. My device is running Android 4.2.2 Jelly bean. I need help. If there is anything
people here could suggest, it would be well appreciated.
*for those who don't wanna read, I'm looking for a way to root my Lenovo A526. Or if you have any suggestions, I would just want to move my apps to my SD Card or maybe even swap it. Device is running Android 4.2.2 Jelly bean
For those who are willing to help and looking for more information about my device, please feel free to ask.
Thank you!

Hi,
if you can flash zip via recovery or fastboot, download supersu zip file here: http://download.chainfire.eu/589/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.16.zip
Then go into recovery, install zip and choose the zip file in sd card.
Then you can enjoy root ^^
Hope this helps you!

I hope this works. I've tried installing other zips via recovery before, but no luck. It would always give me "Installation aborted!"
Thanks though!

[Q] [Help a new owner!] Incoming massive request for help.

First off let me thank everyone who is going to help me through my issue.
Everything started yesterday when I got a16 gigabytes new SD Micro card. I originally got the card so I can move my applications from the internal 16 gigabytes storage to that SD Micro card . After searching through the web I have realized that I cannot move my applications to the external memory until I root my device and so I did it using a guide from this website. after rooting my device I downloaded every application in play store that is used to move applications from the internal memory to the external one.And for some reason all of them failed'Someof them said that there is no enough memory. and some others said I have no External memory inserted "already checked in settings and it says external memory 14.98 Gb free. After that i read another guide which Said I should get Rom manager to partition my memory card.and I did download the Rom manager . I tried to partition but it said I don't have CWM , and it asked ifit should install it so I accepted. mydevice wasn't listed. I chose a random one and now I'm afraid I have broken my 3 days old note 10.1 . Could anyone help me please with
1. The Sd micro card issue(apps From internal memory't external memory.)
2. The random CWM device that I have downloaded and maybe installed.
3. Partitioning my card (if that's going to help.)
4. I'm new to android and have no idea what rooting is "although I did it anyways" and how I Can use rooting
Rooted note 10.1
Thank you again <3
Edit 1- 8 views no help? Id really appreciate it if anyone could help me.
I think some sort of reply will help you get started...
Note 10.1 only supports FAT 32. not NTFS. So you have to format your SDcard properly to begin with. I believe its true, you need to root your device to get AppOnSD support.
NEVER flash anything that is not intended SPECIFIC for your device. Always do a backup so you can restore it from an image if you happen to soft brick it.
Rooting pretty much allows you to get "super user" functionality. Most notably the ability to access system files.

I'll try to help with fixing your Note.
Can you get into download mode? Start with power off and press volume down and power at the same time.
If so download Check Fus (GGI version) from fus.nanzen.se and make you have Odin and the Samsung drivers as described in the how to root thread.
Check the back of your Note for version number; N8000, N8010 or N8013. Use Check Fus to download the correct rom for your country. If not the nearest one.
Follow the how to root guide (sticky in development) that explains how to install the rom. This should put you back where you started. Now, read a lot. Don't use Rom Manager.
http://rootgalaxynote.com/galaxy-note-10-1-root/how-to-root-galaxy-note-10-1/ How to root instructions. Your replacing the rom from the instructions with the one you downloaded from Check Fus.

I said I think I broke my note because I downloaded and installed a random cmw from Rom manager when I tried partition my sd card .
And I have a problem moving apps to the sd card. In app2sd it says it's emulated andin droids it says memory is full.
Then I'll back out. I've no experience of apps2sd on the Note. Have had no cause to use it. I strongly suggest you read a lot more before you attempt anything else involving door, partitions or CWM.

Need help on how to root

Hello i need help on how to root my xperia miro (st23i) my firmware is 11.0.A.5.5 and ICS 4.0.4 ios, i tried reading this thread >>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2014188 but it says that i need to have my earlier firmware version to be rooted, but since i bought my phone last weeks it's already 11.0.A.5.5 firmware, and also i don't know how to downgrade, so can anyone please explain to me briefly how to do it from downgrading to rooting of firmware 11.0.A.5.5? thanks please help thanks
frankly what i needed is on how to transfer apps from phone/internal memory to SD Card and that leads me to this, the rooting of android device, so please anyone can help me thanks
There's an easy rooting method for Tipo/Miro/J which works with all firmwares (doesn't require downgrading) -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36155148
The utility (UnlockRoot Pro) is windows-only and doesn't require purchasing for rooting.
I rooted my girlfriend's Miro (11.0.A.5.5) yesterday using it so I can confirm it does work.

I had the same problem when I first tried this utility.
Are you sure you didn't put your phone in "PC Companion" mode? It needs to be in MSC mode (instructions HERE)
Also you need to enable USB debugging.
in short:
1. turn on USB debugging
2. switch to MSC mode
3. connect to Windows PC and install drivers
4. root with UnlockRootPro

[Q] should i root my XL...???

actually i bought my XL around 1 month before...and i wanted to root my XL...should i root or not..??
i am confused as i have bought it recently..!!
plz help..!!
Is there anything that you want to do on your phone but you can't because it requires root? Then you should.
If nothing you ever do requires root then there's no point in rooting.

I buy my phone before 5-6 days and yesterday I root it, because I want to use Xposed framework. For me there is no point to unlock it yet, because there is lack of kernels and roms. Will unlock it when cm10.x rom is stable and usable. So all is up to your needs.

thans a lot for your help
By the way I just rooted my phone (on Android 4.1 I couldn't because I couldn't unlock my bootloader) and it's worth it just because the Xposed Framework. There were some things that annoyed me or some things that I missed from the phone, but with Xposed I could customize it the way I wanted.

Like what they said, if you want to do something on your phone that requires root, the do it.
If your concern is about the warranty, you can always unroot your device anytime, anywhere :good:

[Q] HISENSE HS-U970 Custom rom 4.3

I have a HISENSE HS-U970
Phone look good, but here is the problem out of the 4GB internal storage , there is only 200mb available to install app's , the phone ROM is a mess they have created 3 partition out of the 4GB, and only allow app to be installed on the primary partition which has only 200mb of storage out of the 1GB ,the other partition are reserved for music and photo files. What a way to ruin a phone.....
You cannot move apps to SD card. So severe limitation
I have been scouring the internetfor days for a custom rom which will remove these limitations and allow me to install apps to SD card just like other devices. But i have found none so far
Does someone know a custom rom that i could install to actually enjoy using this phone? i am close to smashing it with a hammer
I am never buying any android Chinese based phone ever..
Appreciate any reply
I remember the days you could ask a questions in this forum and get some answers, these days most posts goes unanswered very sad days.
If your rooted Foldermount would serve you well. A lot of people use Link2sd which I tried but didn't work for me.

Link2sd
i think the best solution for your problem is as follows:
(u should have root to perform these steps)
1.download and install Link2sd from google play (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.buak.Link2SD&hl=en)
2.go to the app you want to move to your sd card (u can use the search button)
3.tap "Move to SD card" if that fails and its a system app u can tap actions then select "Convert to user app" then tap "move to sd card"
For CWM and custom ROMs for this device go to this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2588130
btw i have the same phone and its great

Just install an app called Framaroot, and choose one of the options, if one fails, choose the other one.(that's how I rooted my Hisense U970, so it will most probably work for you).
PS: Sorry for the late reply

After flashing a rom mod storage (SD and Internal) access denied.

Hello, i'm having a problem here. I have a Galaxy S5 and i am using XtroLite Lollipop Rom for quite some time now. Yesterday i decided to flash the aroma mod of it's rom so i could add the option fo multiple windows. I had done it before with the same aroma mod and it worked flawessly so i flashed and it did work, but then i noticed some errors and when i looked the explorer both of my storages (internal and external) are there but show no files inside and apparently give no access permissions, the only thing i have permission to access is the root folder. When i go to philz touch recovery i can check the files on both storages and they are there its most likely they are just not accessible. Tried to plug to a pc while on recovery but no deal. I searched google a lot but didn't find anything related, i also can use most of the apps that were installed on the phone but can't install any newer, cause of internal storage being inaccessible, and im without a terminal installed atm.
I kindly ask for some help, thanks in advance.
