[Q] WIFI Issue - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I use XT1033. I had kitkat 4.4..2 installed. Last month I updated to 4.4.4 via OTA. The issue I was facing from then was weak WIFI signal. I cannot connect with WIFI from the room beside the router. But the issue wasn't in 4.4.2. However I did a factory reset, wiped cache/dalvik cache etc. I changed advanced wifi settings (untick "Avoid Poor Connection"). No luck so far. If I flashed with any of the CM based ROM, the issue gets disappeared.
In 4.4.2 I was facing another issue. Sometimes no audio during voice call. That was completely gone in recent update. You guys please suggest me a solution.
PS: I love CM but cannot leave stock because Total Recall Call Recorder doesn't work in custom ROM. So I prefer Stock ROM.
Thanks in advanced.

[Q] In call volume muted and random network disconects

Hi all,
My front facing phone speaker seems to be permanently muted. Whenever I get or make a phone call no sounds come from the speaker on the top front of the phone. When I switch to speaker mode everything works fine. Also the phone randomly disconnects from the phone network then reconnects. I was originally running Cyanogenmod 10.0.0 during which everything was working fine. I then upgraded to a nightly using the built in cyanogen upgrader. For a time after this everything continued to work. Eventually these problems began. I again upgraded, using the built in upgrader to 10.1.0 RC1 then 10.1.0 RC2 which didn't seem to change anything. Finally I used recovery to wipe the cache and factory reset and flash 10.1.0 RC2 and the latest gapps package. This didn't help either. I then repeated that process except with the version 10.0.0 of cyanogenmod which also did not fix the problem. I'm not sure if these problems are actually related but they seemed to start at around the same time. I've never knowingly flashed a radio on this thing, I'm not sure if the in app upgrader does this or not. I was wondering if anyone had a good idea on what my next course of action should be or if they have had similar issues and have found a solution.
Thanks.

If you were happy with everything working WHY in the world did you upgrade to a Nightly? Nightly by definition is only for people who know what they're doing and are not afraid of the Night.
Anyway, there are like 6.0221413e+23 changes from cm 10.0.0 to 10.1 RC2. What can I say you did a dirty flash (upgrade!), and probably didn't back up.
So the first thing you should do is back up. NOW (go to CMW recovery and back up)
Download a better behaving nightly like the one JD1639 uploaded. get it from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2272261
Download the UCMC1 radio (assuming you're on at&t)
Download the gapps 20130301
Put them all on in one folder for easy access
goto the CWM recovery and get to work:
1-backup
2-cleanup: go to mounts and format data, cache, system (don't format the sdcard!!!) and don't reboot until everything is finished
3-clean dalvik cache from advanced
4-install in this order: RADIO file.zip (UCMC1)
5-CM ROM
6-gapps
7-go to Advanced Restore option, find you back up and restore the "DATA" portion ONLY
This should save you ... good luck,
Commodore 64
Thanks for the reply.
That seemed to fix the connectivity issue but not the sound issue. I guess that could just be a hardware thing. If it were a software issue is there anything else I should try?

You know I don't think it is a hardware issue since it started after one of your updates. If you were on a ROM for while, and one morning you wokeup and the sound didn't work ... maybe. But i'm not convinced since also I remember around Feb-March there were some complains on sound not working after flashing to 4.2.2 version of the cm. Try flashing back to the stock UCMC1 ROM (absolute stock flashed with Odin not CMW) and then do a factory reset.

[Q] android 4.3 and 4.4.2 wifi issues

Hi,
Since I upgraded the ROM to 4.4.2, I'm unable to find my network/WIFI router.
I have currently KatKiss-4.4.2_022 installed. Before I used 4.3 and sometimes I lost connection, but since I installed 4.4.2 I'm not able to connect on 4.3 neither (saved backup), but if I roll back to the stock ROM, I have no issues at all. Also I have no issues to find and connect to the network with laptop or with my phone (GT-I9100 with CM 10.1.3-i9100).
I did try to reinstall the ROM, tried all the regulatory domains, but none of them works. I also made changes to the router settings (channels, etc.), but no success.
Does anybody else have seen this issue? Any help appreciated.
Thanks

See if your router has mac address filtering set, or if it has a button to allow discovering or such.
MAC address won't be the same between stock and 4.4, it was already the case on katkiss 4.3 though if it was katkiss that you were using as your 4.3 rom that was working before ?
Try also to reboot your router, I've seen a few with wifi that stopped working saying that rebooting their router fixed it.
Beside that I don't really see much else, just the usual, make sure you do a full wipe, format /system and cache before flashing 4.4
in case it's something left over from other systems.
Also make sure you don't restore settings or system apps from the previous rom.

I am also having issues with wifi, but in my case it is more the distance from the router.
in the bedroom, which is just 4 meters from the router (behind 1 wall) I used to get nearly full signal wifi, after updating to 4.4.2 i get no signal at all, to be able to use the tablet I have to be 1 meter from the router. I reverted back to stock ROM but it doesn't solve the issue !!
is it some kind of internal firmware corruption, or hardware issues?
Try switching WiFi optimization off.
Basically if you go to settings then wifi and the click on menu and select advanced, then you can switch wifi optimization on and off.
On most android devices like tf101 ot lenovo k900 it helps to get a good wifi connection.

[Q] Strange problem with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Wireless tethering

Lately, I'm experiencing a lot of problems with my Xperia L. For one, when I turn on Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, the phone just hangs for about five minutes before finally activating them. The same case applies to when I activate a wireless hotspot on my device. When I tap on 'enable wireless tethering', the phone completely hangs. This has really started getting on my nerves! :crying:
Also, when I capture multiple photos from my camera, I'm finding that some images are automatically rotated. I have to manually rotate them, which, of course, is no child's play.
Another issue that I'm facing is that the phone's gotten a bit unresponsive. It doesn't fire up applications like it previously did (not that I have many apps installed too. Just 4).
All this has got me thinking, was the Xperia L a waste of money? No firmware upgrades coupled with tons of bugs!
Should I risk it and go for a custom ROM? I really need some advice, fellow users! Please reply as soon as possible! :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:

It seems like you are on Stock ROM. If you have not done it already, try do a factory reset i know its not an easy task but it may bring your happy days back. If you are not a big Fan of Sony UI you can try Many KitKat ROMS that are available updated with Latest sources 4.4.4.
Very soon we might have almost Bug Free KitKat Custom ROM's, Its your wish to Flash a Custom ROM. (Losing Warranty)

I Also have this problem with WIFI and Bluetooth. Cant switch em on. I was on 4.2.2 update...
At first WIFI & BT are fine. About 2 weeks ago it starts restarting. When I'm lucky enough to reach inside the Setting and use phone for sometime, I tried to turn on wifi... Phone hangs... then restart.. Sometimes it takes several "auto" restart before i can operate the phone. But after those, everytime I turn on WIFI.. it hang/restart. Also happen w/ bluetooth.
I tried flashing/downgrade to 4.1.2 stock rom w/ flashtool. The restarting stopped/fixed... BUT, there's no way I can turn on wifi. i keeps switched off everytime i tried.
Finally, I installed CM11 kitkat cw. Everything looks new and fine ans smooth.. BUT... still cannot switch on wifi! and bluetooth!! >.<
I dont know what to do. Is this a hardware problem?? or is there a fix/zip i can flash to fix this??
HELP.

I resolved the issue! It's going to sound extremely silly, but it worked wonders for me.
Basically, I deleted all downloaded apps that require a 'Full internet access' permission (The one with the WiFi icon), and viola! WiFi and Bluetooth work wonders now. I noticed this problem when I uninstalled Cleaner Master, and WiFi and Bluetooth jumped to life.
This is, however, a major setback. I can now download only a limited number of apps..
But hey, at least WiFi and Bluetooth work, so I've got that going, which is nice...
Any reasons why this may be happening guys?

You should perform a clean install of latest stock ftf. Looks like there's a problem with your kernel too. So flashing will put a new life to your phone. Remember to do clean install of firmware including kernel and wipe data alongwith resetting customizations.

Flash latest ftf using flashtool. Wipe everything and reset customizations.
will help you for sure if it's not hardware.
Hope it helps
Hit thanks if it does.

WiFi problem with stock ROM.

I am running stock Motorola 4.4 with gravity box and Xposed. My WiFi connection is very unstable where it basically drops randomly for a few seconds which is a severe ordeal when using apps like hangouts and skype. My internet connection has no issues and this happens with my phone well within range. I have turned off the 'drop poor connections' option from the WiFi settings. I also turned off WiFi optimization if that is supposed to do anything.
Previously I was running CM and Gummy ROM and had no such issues with them. Its interesting to note that previously I was running with jelly bean radio and only updated my radio when I came to stock ROM. I suppose I could go back to a custom ROM and see if its still happening but man restoring and all is just so much time consuming.
What I want to know is that are other people facing the same issue with stock ROM?

Also having wifi issues for the first time this am. I had the phone off during the night. Turned it on this am and wifi is very unstable. It keeps turning off. I reconnect and it turns off again. I'm completely stock with 4.4.3.
Router is fine. My other devices work great. I'm only 3 feet from the router and the Moto G still can't maintain a connection.
No issues here. If I where you, I would download the full 4.4.4 firmware image for your model and flash via fastboot. That will absolutely solve your problem.

Sometimes can't make and receive calls after flashing Lineage 14.1 - Oneplus One

Hello guys,
I'm having some trouble with my oneplus one.
I was running the latest version of Cyanogen OS and flashed Lineage 14.1 latest nightly yesterday, after that i started having call issues.
Sometimes i can't make a call (it doesn't even ring) and a great number of times people call me and it goes directly to voicemail.
I'm sure it's a software issue because it was working nicely with stock COS.
Here's what i tried so far:
Reboot and Factory reset
Setting preferred network mode to 3G instead of LTE
Disabling system profiles (some threads say it helps solving this issue)
Turning off Wifi and mobile data
Tried with a different SIM card and the issue still persists
Tried this SIM card in a different phone and it works flawlessly
Here's what i will try today:
Reflashing Lineage
If reflashing LOS doesn't work i will delete everything (internal memory) and flash stock Cyanogen OS
I saw lot's of people with the same issue and there seems to be no trivial solution.
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance
