the current/default config of viber for its received images is
/sdcard/viber/media/viber images
im not an android expert, but i learned that "to hide" a folder, we simply put a period/dot (.) before it
so if we want to hide photos folder from the gallery, we simply rename the folder into .photos
and the contents of the .photos folder would no longer be displayed on the gallery
however, i dont wanna rename the /sdcard/viber/media/viber images folder because i'm 99.9% sure, there would be conflict with viber settings
question:
how do i change the received files folder of viber so that i can direct its download/storage to .whatever folder?
just wanna follow-up..
You can add an empty .nomedia file to any folder you want to hide from image apps. Every good image app will respect this and will not show images in such folders ...

genius! it indeed hide the images inside the said folder
but i have another prob..
when i wanted to "show" the image files again, when i deleted the .nomedia file
still the images are not displayed
it has become irreversible
how do i revert the process?
huhuhu
You probably have to kill the image app (or maybe clear it's cache) and restart it. It depends on the image app, but it of course can cache data...
QuickPic is good and has an entry in the menu to hide and unhide folders and to show hidden folders as well... hiding a folder in there does just add and delete such a .nomedia file

So i thought I should share this piece of knowledge with you all [For Noobs only]
"To how to hide a picture/video Folder From Gallery "
I am sure most of you will be knowing this.....but if someone dont know how to... then this is for you ..!
It is quite easy and works without any application...that might eat up your precious internal memory !!
Make sure you put all your pictures, videos, pdf files and important documents in a folder, and name it whatever you want....
Now when you name it make sure to put a "Dot" [.] in front of the folder name ... that's it ..!
Now during scanning Gallery and other application will skip this folder.......this is the same method that is widely used in Linux Operation System !
Cheers....now store whatever you want to store in your phone..
you could also create an empty file named .nomedia inside that folder...
File name does't matter.... Dot [.] is the only thing which matters..!!
you can use keep safe app u can hide vids and picture with it, the app even change the format of the pic/vid so even if u open your memory on pc it shows "name of picture.jpg.hid" and u cant see it
Hey hey Dide !! Just cut/or copy the folder and paste it to Android/data !! The gallery can't recognise the folder and if u want more privacy the download the file locker app...it's the best light , fast , great app for security
If i helped u don't shy to press thanks !
Or download secret box

For those of you who do not know how to make a .nomedia file, just download the attached rar file, extract it. Then copy and paste the .nomedia file into the folder you want to exclude from the gallery.
good thinking
1. Open your favorite file manager ( eg: es file explorer)
2.Find the specific folder (or album) that you want to be hidden from your android phone’s gallery.
3.Tap rename and put a .(dot) in front of the folder name (with no spaces).( eg: .video )
4.Press OK and done.
Your album or folder is now hidden and will not show up on your gallery. To show it up again, simply remove that dot to make it back to normal.
You can view the hidden files in the file manager, make sure to check the ‘Show hidden files’ in the settings menu.
place '.nomedia' file in a folder
1. If u want to hide media in a specific folder without adding "." at starting of the name of folder, copy '.nomedia' file from anywhere from sd card or internal storage and place it in the required folder. Folder will be visible in filemanager, but the media will not be shown in gallery or music player..
2. '.nomedia' file can be found in following locations
1. android>data
2. whatspp>media>images (or any other folder in media)> sent
brother, This is basic things on androids.. I think you should look at this..
Basic of android
1.How to take a screenshot on my phone
2. How to format my phone (2 methods).
3. How to Hide File or Folder without application.
4. General profile mood to silent mood vice versa.
5. Start or end the Call pressing Button.
6. How to Root My Phone.
7. Track your lost phone.
8. How to Force Restart – Reboot my phone.
9. What is my Android version.
10. What to do when application doesn’t work.
We can do that without any app also
It is very simple
1)Go to file manager
2)Choose the file you want to hide
3)Create a new folder name it “Hidden”
3)Move those file to the newly created folder
4)Rename the folder with (.) (e.g “.Hidden”)
4)Now go to file manager settings unchecked show hidden files
Here is the detailed guide with pictures > [How To] Hide Photos & Videos On Android Without An App
Hi folks,
hope I'm posting this in the correct place.
I have my DCIM folder on my SD card, and I have deleted the folder instead of an individual photo in the folder several times now.
Is there a way to prevent the deletion of this folder, by locking it or installing an app that will lock the folder, but not hide it or impact the usability in any way?
Change the permission to read only using any file browser like xplore..
Permission cannot be changed unless its a system folder..
The only option is to be careful not to delete any folder you don't want to or download ES File Explorer from the play store and enable Recycle Bin so you can restore back your folder in case you delete them.
I've installed the ES File Explorer, let's see if that does the trick. Thanks!

Check the folder where you stored your pics...
For a file called "no media" if u found that delete it...
If this doesn't work delete the . thumbnail folder in DCIM folder.....this should work...
But to see that file or folder.. Hidden files must be shown via file manager...
If you not found that connect ur device to pc or laptop then delete that folder....
Hope this helps

Ok I just want to make sure of no catastrophic failures, lol.. I opened "my files" clicked device storage, and scrolled all the way to last files listed without opening any folder, and I see a file called .nomedia, is this the file? You did say open a folder to find this file, but in this case its not in a folder. 2, I clicked on .thumbnails in the DCIM folder and I see images, when I delete this file, will I now loose these images? I am awaiting further instructions before I do anything, because I have moved to quickly before and lost a lot of images before.. Please and thank you for your assistance.

I have two files under Documents & Other in the Files folder named MyWorkLog.txt and ssoLogs.txt that I don't believe to be important and would like to delete, but I don't want to screw my phone up. Are they safe to delete or no?

I would check the timestamp of its last modification, and have a look into the text files.
Then decide if the files are currently used and contain important data, or not.
Maybe better to move the files into a backup folder first, check if everything still works fine, and delete the files later.
It is just a lay out of codes that make up your screen usual when you download PicsArt and sometimes your texting/messaging app.
