Hey everyone!
I am experiencing an issue with Google Camera on a Samsung Galaxy S2 (T-989) using KitKat ROM's (currently on SlimKat build 7, though I also tried the latest Carbon ROM and the same issue is present there)
Here's the description of the issue:
When I open Google Camera (the one downloaded from Play Store, which has PhotoSphere functionality), the app will open up fine. I can also switch to any of the modes (photo, video, panorama, PhotoSphere) fine. However, if I switch to Panorama or PhotoSphere mode, I will be unable to switch back to photo or video mode; the viewfinder will simply freeze up (the camera app still responds to touch, but the viewfinder will be stuck in the panorama/PhotoSphere mode and the screen doesn't update). Attempting to tweak the settings or switch to another mode at this point will often result in the app crashing (forced stop).
The default camera app that comes with the SlimKat ROM works fine, but I am really hoping to have a working PhotoSphere camera on the S2 if possible (GalaxyS2Roots.com reported the Google Camera to be working "flawlessly" on Carbon ROM, but not for me!)
Does anyone know if this is a known issue in KK for this particular phone?

EDIT: Well, I fixed it. I used Jishnu's Camera mod "return to stock" zip and it fixed things thankfully.
Thanks

When attempting to use the standard camera app on my Nexus, I get this error. I've had a Nexus 5 since launch and had NO issues whatsoever with the camera until recently. No matter what I try to do, the camera app doesn't load. Not from the lockscreen, not from the app, etc.
What's odd is that I CAN use apps like camera zoom fx or the built in snapshot feature in the facebook app for example, and the camera works then. I can also use hangouts and I've verified the front facing camera works. Oddly though, using the camera within the Google+ app crashes the camera too.
I've tried clearing cache, dalvik cache, force stop camera, disabling and re-enabling and no dice. A friend of mine postulated that it could be the HDR mode messing up. I DID have HDR active the last time the camera worked. But with no way of resetting the application/toggling the HDR switch (because the camera won't load to that point), I'm SOL.
Here is a screen cap video I took demonstrating the issue. Don't mind the artifacting at the start of the video, I'm not sure what caused that.
My current phone build is in my sig, except I'm running the most up to date Franco Kernel (iirc r37).
Hello! I recently flashed CM 10.2.1 onto my Galaxy S3 (verizon), and overall I'm completely satisfied with the results. However, I'm no longer able to use the front-facing camera on any third-party apps (facebook, instagram, etc). When I try taking a picture with the front camera, it causes the phone to reboot itself. I've noticed that if I'm using the stock camera from CM 10.2, the front cam works perfectly fine. Yet, when I try using Instagram, Skype, or Camera Zoom FX, the phone is always forced to reboot once I try taking a picture. I was wondering if anyone has ever found a fix for this? Thanks in advance to anyone that can help shed some light on my issue!
Hi, this is my first thread here, and I really have a big problem been occurring since I started modding my Galaxy S3 I747 (AT&T version) using CyanogenMod, I have tried Android Lollipop on it, but I had issues with my Google Camera app, front camera, and also video. Each time I open my google camera app and choose video the app crash saying "Unfortunately, camera has stopped". and each time I try to take a pic using front camera, the app freeze then run back again without taking my photo. So the issue is only in the front camera, and in the video. I have tried Retrica app, works fine for me for both Front and rear camera. any other application that uses the camera crashed the whole phone.
Please if someone cracked this part it would be great, If there is a way to fix the camera issue.
Note: Any app that uses front camera crashes or show blank screen when viewing camera, like Skype, and more. show only blank!
Currently I have CyanogenMod 13, unofficial Android 6.0.
The camera was working fine until I updated to android 7.0. Every time I open the camera app it immediately crashes. Other camera apps seem to be working fine but the default camera app crashes. Has anyone else had this issue after the Nougat update? I tried resetting the phone and also clearing the cache with no luck.
I have the same problem too. It also affects snapchat, I cant open snaps. I also noticed that it deleted picture and music off of my g5. And I cannot record in the voice record app.
I have this issue too..... video recording is not working in camera and it's taking simple photo from camera app...... other feature like manual camera and pop out makes camera app stopped.
Have somebody fix this problem?
same problem here
lg g5 h831 after 7.0 camera wont start any more..got unfortunatly stop error..but in apps like whatsapp..imo..snapchat working well both camera..
i think mine set is refurbished set...
is there any option to update camera firmware...??
After 7.0 update My Quick charge is not working and when my phone 15% charge down automatic location on.
I have the Verizon Pixel 3, and ever since I updated to the November 5 version I have had nothing but trouble with my camera. The native camera app works great, but if I attempt to use any other app on the device that accesses the camera, I get nothing but a black screen. Apps I have on my device that I've tested include
- Messenger
- Snapchat
- Ibotta
- QR Scanner
Once one of the apps attempt to use the camera, the native camera app only gives me a black screen until I restart the device. Once restarted, the native app will work until another app attempts to use the camera, and then it's right back to the black screen.
Has anybody else had this issue yet? I ran across another post where a different user had the same issue, and they had reset their device a couple of times to no resolution.
On latest (nov 5th update) on pixel 3. Camera works fine in Textra for me.... you shouldn't need QR Scanner anymore with the google camera, just hit the lens button, or enable lens all the time in camera settings.
I'm now having this same issue as of a few hours ago. Nothing changed as far as I can tell but any app other than the default camera app trying to access the camera locks the entire thing up.
