clean rom

Looking for some input on clean ROM on the TF300T,
This is my second time trying to install it and both times it was successful, however as soon as the boot image loads up it stays stuck loading... I did download the file again thinking it may have been corrupted.
It has been sitting there loading for 20 minutes now.
I am using cwm the latest version and I did not install a kernel still running stock
Any ideas on what could cause this?

CWM has issues on this unit. Many, many complaints. I use twrp. If you decide to use twrp be sure to choose JB and tf300t version.

Clean ROM is freaking amazing! Seriously just do it I love the mods I can make for it too! Can't wait till I get my volume long press seek mod done! Love this device!

I initially when i first rooted intalled Twrp however i was not able to flash anything at all with it, it would give me errors.... that is the only reason i went to cwm.... I was able to make backups and restores with but ROMs flashing would just fail

OK. It was just a suggestion since the problem you are experiencing is usually cleared by using twrp.

I'm sorry it is hard to tell since you have chosen an older twrp to install. The current is five versions later and was updated as the kernels were updated to account for changes. The rom you are flashing is based on 10.4.4.25.

Use TWRP 2.4.1.0
You are using a very old version of TWRP that has bugs with AROMA installer. So that is most likely where your issues are.

What ROM are you ccoming from? What boot loader are you on.
Sounds to me like you need to upgrade your boot loader and possibly do a full wipe - make sure you are on latest TWRP first otherwise you could brick if you use an older recovery!

Updated the TWRP to the version you mentioned still stuck in boot loop.

The only ROM i was able to flash that was fully functioning is cm10.1,
i have also flashed PA 2.9 but had some bugs i couldn't stand (screen rotation not working, extended desktop with no pie)
as for boot loader it says 1.00e by "US _Epad-10.4.2.20-20121228" A03
I just updated the TWRP as recommended on the other post (v2.4.1.0)
on every flash i wipe dalvik / Cache / Factory reset.
Before attempting to boot into Clean Rom i also followed the steps on screen saying to wipe cache and dalvik.
I m hoping PA releases a 3.0 for this device and/or i m able to get Clean rom running

If you are coming from cm10.1 you will definitely need to do a full wipe as it is non stock. It does say this in the first post. You only do a dalvik and cache wipe when upgrading from the same ROM or in CROMI's case from stock.
Do a data wipe in recovery, make sure you have a titanium backup or equivalent if you want to restore apps.

It worked perfectly fine after i install the back up i did before i flashed my 1st costume rom,
I rooted made a back up at stock/rooted... It just would not install from a full wipe,
it install fine once i flashed that specific backup and dirty flashed then wiped dalvik and cache before booting.

[Q] Strange Bootloop TF700?

My Infinity won't boot any rom, not even stock. It will get stuck in a few second and reboot.
I was on the 10.6.1.14.4 bootloader and cm-20130430. I decided to try CROMI X 4.4 and downloaded the bootloader + twpr flasher (http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=22909751817928748) because it was the fastest way to get twpr. When the bootloader + twpr was flashed I rebooted back into recovery and wiped everything. Then I flashed CROMI X 4.4, but it was bootlooping.
I tried other roms but they also started bootlooping. I tried different bootloaders, like the one from dasunsrule32. I even went back to 4.1.1 bootloader + stock firmware from the Asus' site.
Does anyone have an idea how I can fix this?

You didn't write that you wiped /data when you moved from CM to CROMI, so try that.

Hello!
i have the exactly the same problem! right now i just want to get my tablet running but it get stuck in the bootloop ( i see the ASUS logo and a circle that goes round and round).
I have tried several different ROM:s but i get the same problem.....but hey...it worked when i wipe all the data!7

Sorry, I forgot to say that I wiped /data before flashing CROMI. I have tried almost every rom/bootloader but it's still bootlooping . I'm afraid it has something to do with the bootloader, I hope someone has a solution.

Does it hang at the boot animation, or does it constantly reboot to the bootloader screen?

I have found a solution. Instead of a factory reset I wiped the entire internal storage and also found an option 'format data' in a older version of twpr. When I did both my tablet booted back into Android. Went through the process of flashing the new bootloader again and now I am on CROMI X 4.4 without any problems.

Switching from CM10.1 to Cromi-X, help me please :D

Hi guys, I have rooted and unlocked my TF700 few days ago. Currently with CWM recovery and CM10.1. I would like to change to Cromi-X for its faster performance. I am pretty new to this kind of stuff. From the Cromi-x TF700 developer page, it says TF700 user should be on stock 4.2.1. before flashing this ROM. Is there other way of doing it? What are the instructions to do so? Factory reset using custom recovery? install TWRP and bootloader? Step-by-Step instructions would be the best! Thank you so much! Would really appreciate it.:laugh::laugh:

I would love to help you further but I never use CWM. Therefore, it would be safe if someone has a better knowledge to help you out. _that, Sbdags, and others will have a good answer for you. They are very active in helping others users like you and me..

You can flash latest Cromix on top of CM10.1 even if you are using CWM (btw using CWM for CM roms is not mandatory,TWRP will work fine too).
I do recommend a clean install ( factory restore before flashing Cromi) but you could also try a "dirty" flash ( so your apps are not wiped) first and see if all works fine.
On a side note you should also try the CM10.2 experimental build,it's working nice here .

Thank you so much Pretoriano! Would carefully proceed to flash it tonight, hopefully nothing will go wrong. In your opinion, do you think Cromi-X has better performance(in terms of speed and smoothness) over CM? Because I still find lags and what not in CM10.1.

Not using Cromi-X so i can't tell but you should try different roms yourself, trust me on that.But don't expect miracles from any rom,this device it is what it is.sometimes works nice then at some point starts to lag,self-reboot and act like crap.Latest CM10.2 looks good so far but the best way to prove it is to install all your usual apps and use it for some time,then decide if it's a keeper.
As for Cromi-X or other roms,i don't know if Journaling is disabled by default,but if it is keep in mind that is just a workaroud which trade stability for performance.
Personally i've build a custom rom for myself based on Asus firmware,removed some bloatware,patched to have the advanced power menu,used some init.d scripts wich you can find here on XDA and honestly performs just fine,no dangerous tweaks applied or task manager.

You definitely should switch to TWRP recovery. It's working fine with both CM and stock based roms like CROMi-X, whereas there have been issues if you use CWM with stock based roms.
You do have to do a clean install if you go from CM to CROMi-X.

You always should do a nandroid backup of your old setup/rom before you flash anything new.
In TWRP 'Factory Reset' is the default selection under the 'Wipe' menu. It will wipe your /data partition except for your /data/media/ folder where your personal stuff lives.
Naturally, you should have a backup of all your stuff anyway!
Data nor backed up is data not yet lost
Edit: To literally answer your question: A clean install is wiping data and system partitions as well as cache and Dalvik. If you flash CROMi-X (and I believe that's true for most custom roms), the system partition will get formatted before the new rom installation as part of the installation process. Wiping Cache and Dalvik is the default when installing CROMi-X, so you don't need to do that either. Just factory reset before flashing and you'll be good.
If you want to go squeaky clean, you would do a format data in TWRP (under the Wipe > Advanced menu). But that will erase your entire data partition, so you definitely have to have everything you care about backed up.

One last question berndblb, can I flash TWRP over my current CWM directly(worry that it will cause or brick or whatsoever) before doing a factory reset? Or it is advisable to do a factory reset using CWM only then I flash the TWRP? Sorry if my question sounds dumb, because I am really new to all these stuff.

Your first step should be to replace the CWM recovery. A factory reset only affects your data partition - no need to do that in CWM.
The main thing is that you have at all times a compatible bootloader/recovery combination. If you have the 10.6.1.14.4 or 10.6.1.14.8 bootloader, you can download GooManager, tap the 3 dots in the upper right corner and select "Install Open Recovery Script". It will install the latest TWRP version 2.6 over CWM. I am not sure if your CM version is compatible with TWRP 2.6 - so better check on that.
But once you have TWRP installed, you can proceed as described earlier.
Your questions are absolutely fine. Read everything you can find 5 times, ask 3 times, flash once - if and when you're sure! :Good:
One more thing: If you decide you do a factory reset or format data in TWRP, make sure you have the rom you want to flash (and I highly recommend CROMi-X 4.7) on your external microSD - it's safer that way. You may have to navigate to your microSD in TWRP under the 'Install' menu. By default TWRP shows your internal SD. Just tap that field and navigate to your external, select the CROMi-X zip and flash it.
The microSD has to be FAT32. It you never changed the factory format, you're good.

You can flash twrp on top of cwm no probs. I do it all the time. CROMi-X does work fine on cwm 6.0.3.0+
You will 100% need to wipe data (factory wipe good enough) before flashing CROMi-X. Good luck.

[Q] Random reboots/Bootloop - Logs attached

Hey everybody.
EDIT: Thanks to berndblb and all the others who replied, it works again like a charm.
I just got my Asus Transformer back from RMA because it wouldn't latch with the dock anymore.
Now I'm getting random reboots when the tablet boots up. Sometimes it makes it to the lockscreen, but in this case it freezes immediately.
I now tried reinstalling CM 10.0 and 10.1.2 after wipping all the data from the Tablet.
I then tried installing the cleanrom with the data2sdcard fix, but I have now the same problem as before.
Additional Infos:
Recovery: TWRP 2.5.0.0
Rom at the moment: CleanROM Inheritance 3.4.7 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2049274
Data2SD http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1962507
Bootloader: 10.4.4.25-20131228
If you have any questions or need more logfiles don't hesitate to ask. Somehow I can't get logcat to work before it shutdowns, so I can only provide log which are stored on the filesystem. (I can access the shell within the recovery and push and pull files).

Maybe an old bootloader? Check the version displayed in the bootloader menu.

I've got the 10.4.4.25-20131228 Version, which is recommended to install CleanROM.

But now as I do have the exact same problem with cleanrom as with cm I think it isn't the rom.

You can try to remove the External SD card and reboot without it. Please report back so we all know what is happening, thanks..

"Wiping all your data" means exactly what? Have you done a factory reset in TWRP? If yes, try formating your data partition.
Plus, you are trying to install an outdated rom that is no longer supported.
sbdags has moved on to CROMi-X, the JB 4.2.1 based rom for this tablet. Look for the thread in the development section.
Flash the bootloader/TWRP package from the first post, boot back into your old rom.
Then do a factory reset in TWRP which will wipe your data partition and flash the latest CROMi-X rom.

I'll try that. I wasn't sure if the newer Version supported the Data2SD Mod so I tried installing the older Version.
But I see now that it's supported.

As I'm using the Data2SD Mod, I get the error message "Encryption unsuccessful".
Which means it's really installed on the SD-Card.
I also am able to start it up to the setup process, but before I can finish the setup, the tablet randomly reboots.

Bootloop with Crombi-KK

Hello,
I just got a tf700t and decided to flash a rom. decided on Crombi-KK. I couldn't get TWRP on it so I'm using CWP. So I'm unlocked and have custom recovery. I flash the rom from the system because i don't have an sd card. Everything seems to have flashed fine but the rom won't boot up! I'm stuck on a bootloop. I'm an idiot and did not backup externally. How do I save this tablet? Thanks for the help!
hopefully the logcat will be of help.

What bootloader do you have?
Which version of CWM?
Did you do full wipe of data, cache and Dalvik before flashing KK?

Thanks for replying. I had the latest CWM. I did do full wipes. before flashing.
So some improvement happened. I was able to flash TWRP 2.6.3 but after doing a full wipe, and flashing KK i'm still bootlooping.
Could it be that I need a different bootloader? How would I even flash it from twrp? I'm attaching the logcat file of the bootloop while in twrp. I really hope i find a solution to this.

Well - which bootloader are you on?
Boot into it and read the small text top left. It should be 10.6.1.14.8 or .10

OK, so i need to flash a newer bootloader
should i go ahead and flash this bootloader with an older TWRP and then reflash the newer TWRP?
one more thing, US_epad means US sku? i tried flashing this (US sku) a few hours ago but it wouldn't flash

The .4 may work... but better to flash the latest from the OP here:

Yes, afterwards you will have to reflash TWRP to get the latest version.

OK! it booted up after flashing the US sku.

Hopefully it all works well. going to flash newer TWRP now.
