Blocking mode for Oneplus One/ - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My last 4 phones were samsung phones and I used the Blocking mode all the time at night when I am on call. Now that I have the OPO i was wondering if you all know of another good program that works like Blocking mode. I always let it allow calls as I had to take call. Just trying to find something that is like it.
While I am at it, i got used to the samsung s planner widget. Now I also need to find another good calender widget. If you know of one please let me know.
Thanks in Advance.

This would belong to q&a,
What do you mean by blocking?
Quiet hours?
If you mean them, they are available under "sound"
If you mean blacklist, this is under privacy!
I use business calendar pro, really nice

Blocking mode, is that like silent hour? Samsung got inspired by that mode a few years ago, so it's here.

Oh nice. Thanks for the info. That was what I was looking for. I will have to check out business calendar pro.
Thanks

Yeah you are looking for quiet mode. It's one of those features you expect every modern phone or ROM to have.

Well im back to see if anyone may know of an app that works better on then the build in version. On the samsung phones I could make it a quick short cut on the menu screen to turn off and on blocking mode. On the OPO right now I have to go into settings. Plus if I turn off sounds it still turns my alarm off. Samsung did that right i must say. Hoping to see if any others have any other suggestions. I really hope they can work on this mode.
well I now have it in my pull down menu so that is a start. right now only pay for me to make sure its off so i can get my alarm is if i have the mode turn off 5mins till my alarm. That will work for now but its a bit more complicated then it was on the samsung phones.

It does not turn off my alarm... Any screenshots?
I like it at the pulldown menu... The quiet hours are turned on automatically from 0-6 o'clock...

[Q] Disable SMS wakeup / notification pop-up on WP7

Hi Everyone,
I have searched Google and must say I can't find any solution for changing SMS WakeUp / Notification pop-up.
It is so annoying when the screen lights up.
I would also like to be able to disable that it shows the message in the top statusbar.
I have unlocked my phone by finding the "ChevronWP7" unlocker tool and send (by e-mail) the "ChevronCert" to my WP7 HTC Trophy and installed the certificate. Downloaded "Tom XAP Installer v1.2.zip" and installed "RegistryEditor 1.1.0.0.xap" where I have tried several registry fixes found on different websites: "modify-sms-notifications-in-windows-phone-7" but nothing worked also found a solution here and the same again nothing i working:
[HK_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL]
"DisableSMSWakeUpEvent"=dword:1
Could someone help out I would really appreciate....
Thanks.
Bump please
Bump...Lookin for the same thing
Sorry guys, but why would you want this? I hate it on my Android. I have to push the power button every single time, which in turn, kills my hardware buttons.
At least you guys go to your lockscreen with a notification at the top, I had to download an app to wake the screen and it bypasses the lockscreen and I text/call people every single day lol. I wish it would just GO TO THE LOCKSCREEN!!!
Privacy, of course!
Bump.
@Dj21o: With respoect, I can think of at least one good reason why this setting should be "settable" and that is privacy. I may be in an environment where I don't want just anyone to be able to see an SMS as it arrives just by looking at my screen.
The fact that you would prefer it this way is, of course, good, too, but I think ther choice should be in the hands of the user.
Don't youy agree?

Yeah, it should be available for those that want it, and for those who don't... It is a simple setting that make it a big deal for users, and I can totally see where you are coming from. Sometimes my phone unlocks, and that is swiping left to right. I imagine it happens much more swiping up lol.
There is a site where you can put down ideas for developers to look at, and people vote for them. I can post the link of the site if you want.
Here is the site, you can post your ideas accordingly to what type of idea it is.

I just want to know exactly why you want this? Yes it can be abit bright at the first glimpse but isn't there a bigger risk for falling asleep if you just press a button, instead of actually opening your eyes?
Nothing against what you like/dislike, I'm just asking, why.

I want it too because I have Whatsapp group where people keep messaging all the time. And the screen remains on all the time. which simple means that my battery drain faster because screen is always on.

Any news about this???
So, disable Toast notifications in WhatsApp? That's a (required) per-app setting, no need to request an OS feature for it!
Why you don't flip you phone down? If proximity sensor detect something close to phone display it will don't turn display on when toast notification pop-up.

[APP][2.2+]NotifyWake (save power buttons)

Well everything about the android is good and getting better, but weve seem to have neglected the physical hardware. namely the power button.
This application will wake the phone for 10 seconds when any notification(theoretically) is received. this includes changes to existing notifications too. this will reduce the need for using the physical power button to turn the phone back on, this is very usefull for IM apps, email, or things that require short reaction timespans(for many people SMS)
In combination with the notification power widget(or another app that can turn off the screen) you can reduce the use of the button and preserve its lifespan.
This app leverages the accessibility api of android to detect when notifications are changed, and accessibility must be enabled by the user.
installation: install like you would normally(from attachment) and then go to settings > accessibility options > NotifyWake
it will run only when its been selected from the accessibilty.
P.S.: feel free to let me know of any ideas or problems with it.
[update]
added in timeout options and some other experimental features, havnent had much time to add stuff but what i wrote a long time ago
[update 2]
added in whitelist/blacklist filter options, got rid of the osd notify(it isnt finished nor intended to be a part of this app) remember, enable in accessories
[update 3 may/29/2012]
-fixed bug where if filter is disabled, it doesnt function.
+added api 15 compatibility for appearance(functionality remains unaffected so far)
+added fastscroll/thumbscroll on filter activity
*attempted to make seekbar item match default items themes, if anyone can help would be nice
download link: http://dakunesu.dev.animuson.net/apps/NotifyWake.apk
I tested this on my Optimus Chic and it works great, although i only tested it with SMS.

Juice Defender actually uses more juice than its saves. By default wifi gets turned off when the device goes so sleep. All that stays awake is you mobile data, unless and app keeps the wifi on. Most android devices have a very good battery life, requiring you to charge at most once a day unless the device is being taxed by constant use. I suggest you charge when you go to sleep and get rid of Juice Defender. This app works perfectly and I get my happy 12-18 waking hours on my device, unless playing games. On my other android device which i use only for calls, 2 days without charge and no battery profile managers

curious what internet has to do with this app. im not familiar with juice defender. only cases that i i think it wouldnt work well would be when an app sends a notify because the phone sleeps. in which case i would find a different app...
i will add in a way to make an ignore list.
Another good little app.
Few requestsbwould be default- option to decide amount of time screen is on

useful app, however i found that it bypasses the screen lock. would be good if u fix that. useful app nonetheless, keep up the good work!
interesting, are you using a 3rd party lockscreen? nothing in the source touches the lock screen. in fact, this app doesn't have that permission in the manifest.
I realised its a user problem, nth to do wif ur app. so sry.

just so its posted here, xabbber will not function correctly. i emailed them, they dont think its important to correct their notifications to proper standards for this case. as a result, xabber will have inconsistent triggering of notifywake. im trying to get the cash to make my dev account and really get into deving.
if anyones got info about the ics toast/notification changes, PM me please?

Anyone beta test my app?

I have been working on this app with quite a while now, it's an app that you can enter start time and a end time and days of the week, when it gets to the start time it mutes your phone and when it hits the end time it un-mutes your phone. eg if you are going to college it will mute your phone when college starts and when college is over it will un-mute your phone .
Please try it out and tell me what you think and report any errors or any new features you would like to see, i tried to keep it as basic and as easy as possible to use.
edit : anyone testing my app could they turn on wifi so i can get report back on if there was any errors Thank
edit: Thanks everyone for testing(file removed)

Seems to work perfectly on my galaxy s...very simple n very effective......just a suggestion..can u add profiles like vibration only, silent without vibration etc

Awesome idea for an app!!!
Tested On stock rooted atrix 1, quick mute wont revert to previous state if you cancel it....
As been said, would be nice that it switches to vibrate instead of pure silence, or at least an option to do so...
In fact, just finished the programmed time and it wont "unmute" the phone... So it is having problems going back to "normal".
Dorry for my bad english

Humm.. I didin't delete it,, just canceled.
Anyway, when you schedule an alarm, lets say from 00.00 to 00.05, the alarm triggers and the phone goes into silent, but at 00.06, when it is supposed to return to the previous state, it won't do so, instead, it remains in silent mode...

Quiet Hours-like solution for Stock Z3?

I'm not at the point where I'm considering putting another ROM on my shiny (literally!) new Z3, but the biggest thing I miss from Slimroms is the apparent total lack of Quiet Hours or anything like it. (In case you don't know, it lets you prevent the phone from making a noise, vibrating, lighting up etc when an incoming text, phone call etc occurs). Apparently, when I'm sleeping I'm always one piece of spam, or an alert that someone's replied to one of my posts here, from being woken up. And i'm not desperate to mute my phone because then i'll miss (potentially) important phone calls.
How are you dealing with this?

there is lots of planner/tasker app in play store for you to manage almost everything you want
:good:
Does the Z3 have the "Smart Connect" app? If so there are automation options there. For example, you can set it to go to complete silent, start the alarm and clock app IF the phone is plugged in and it is between x and y hours.
Smart connect set new event based on time, set time start, volume off, vibrate off, set end time volume up, vibrate on.

Smart connect should work fine, but if you want choices I use Agent and it works great.

Just tried it, but it's no good because I can't silence notifications without silencing incoming phone calls at the same time. The app suggests what I want isn't possible without a custom rom.
Have a look at this absolute fantastic app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nightskeeper
This is the best quite hours solution in Play Store imo and should be exactly what you need. btw you can define whitelists and the app has an excellent emergency function: when someone calls e.g. more than three times in 5 minutes, the app lets the phone ring although quite hours are activated

[Q] Newbie help with sound issue

Hi everyone, and thanks in advance if you can help. I need my phone to be silent during daytime meetings and at night. I've installed an app which should take care of this. However I still get sound notifications. I'm assuming it's the "interruptions" feature over riding the app as I see the star icon displayed. Is there anything I can do to stop this? It's really annoying me. Thank you so much for your assistance.

Hit the volume button one so the sounds mode dialogue pops up onto your screen. You'll see three options, All, Priority, and None. Select None.

Hello Heisenberg and thank you for getting back to me. I've seen the option you describe, but I wanted something that would work with my calendar and automatically mute during events - plus at night time and then revert back to normal. Every time the app I'm using modifies the sound profiles, the star icon appears and lets notifications through. I think I'd prefer to disable "interruptions" and use the app full time as it's far more efficient and versatile. Do you know if it's possible? Sadly, I can't find a way to make the phone work in the way I want it to - do you have any other thoughts please?

I don't understand why you need an app. I just use profiles and adjust the sound mode manually, it's easy enough.

Ah - I tried that and couldn't find a way to make it happen using my location, an app will do it all automatically during the day based on my calendar and also at night. Am I missing something here?? Forgive me if I sound dim but I'm getting very fed up having to constantly mess around with the phone settings because it seems to override the app settings. What happened to "quiet hours"??
