i did factory reset even install a custom rom but nothing!
this problem started 2 weeks ago its like i hold the power button randomly and just pops the power menu for turning it off but then in restarts again and does a soft reboot like if i was holding just the power button and this continously happens even though i did a factory reset! and it happens very oftens sometimes like 40 times in a day! so its getting me crazy...
please help!
Stuck power button. Rma the device if under warranty, or have it replaced.

Hi there,
Sorry but I think I finally found the right forum for this and I wanted to take one more stab before kissing this phone goodbye.
I have a Rogers Galaxy SGH-i727R. About three weeks ago, the phone started re-starting on it's own. I though maybe it was a sticky power key and had that replaced. The problem persisted. I then noticed that it was primarily upon receiving text messages that the phone would reboot. So it seemed it was a software issue. I am running the stable build of CM9.
Yesterday the phone rebooted and never got off the angry alien screen. I pulled the battery, charged it etc and still could not get it to fully boot up. I left it for over an hour. I finally decided to call it quits and re-flash the phone. Problem is, it will not boot into recovery at all. When I hold down Vol + - and Power, it jsut goes into a loop of vibrating every three seconds until I let go and then it tries a normal boot again. Once, I briefly got a screen saying I was trying to install custom software and to press volume up to do so, but before I could hit volume up, the phone cycled off.
I should also mention that the four buttons on the bottom of the screen do not work. I accidentally sliced the wires on the side of the phone when opening it up. I use a software button saver widget to access their functions. I wonder if that issue is related....
Thanks for any advice. I would like to get into recovery so I can load a new ROM or a stock ROM.
If you haven't ventured there yet in this forum I'd recommend Vincom's roundup on just about everything http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1652398. I don't know if it will help much in your situation but it's worth a look. Also, you may want to research usb jigs, not sure if they will work with our devices though ... research is the key word.

All I can tell you is that your problem sounds exactly like a stuck power button. I know you replaced it but all the symptoms you point out suggest stuck power button. Maybe try cleaning it again?

But if it were a stuck power button it would not stay on the loading screen indefinitely, no? If I hold down the power button while booting, it will turn the phone off.
Hold vol +- and pwr until it vibrates let go of pwr continue to hold vol +-. You were letting go of all of them at once going by your described method.

Hi
I had a problem with my nexus 5 yesterday.. It was at 45% battery, and suddenly it shutdowns and I can't boot it again
I've tried the power button +/- volume buttons, Charging it ... nothing is happening.
What weird is, when i plug it in my pc , i hear a voice (USB voice) , but it can't recognize it
Any idea what the problem may be ?
Thanks
try long pressing the power button, for 20-30 seconds.

My Nexus 5 just crapped out.
Phone constantly reboots every second.
It turns on, shows the Google splash screen, then turns off, then Google Splash screen then turns off.
It happens very quickly stays on the splash screen for about 1 second then turns off.
If I hold down the Volume Down button, it shows the Bootloader for 1 second or less then shuts down.
If I hold the power button long enough it'll turn off. Now ANY power source plugged in or a QI Charger, it'll turn on and keep powering off and on and off and on again.
Now it actually won't turn back on without any power source. Not sure if it's out of battery or not, but it's not helping, since if I plug it in, it turns on then turns off right away, over and over and over and over again. No way to charge it like normal.
Anyone have any ideas? It's running stock with xposed mod.
I've never had this happen of all the Nexus phones I've had and others.
Phone was working fine today then I went to open the camera and it rebooted and then this.
Wow, yup just I suspect, I think power button is messed up.
I have a rubberized case on it, if I tilt it sideways with power button facing down, and just keep banging the side of the Nexus 5 on the table, it will power up and boot up properly.
Once I stop, power menus shows up and or it'll hard reboot.
The power button itself doesn't feel broken, when I press it I can feel it being pressed.
Now I have to figure out how I can wipe and lock the bootloader while doing this....

Nope. the case has holes for the buttons.
Speaking to Google now, they're going to do a warranty replacement.

Already done that, and nope.
That is going to be difficult relocking the bootlloader I wonder why the nexus 5 has so much problems with the power button
My Nexus 5 getting random reboots. Seems like power button pressing itself. Any fix?
Sorry for my English
power button and random reboots are two completely different things. power button can be fixed relatively inexpensively. or by warrenty! random reboots, post a last_kmsg and we will look.
I called google about this and the sent me a replacement phone and a box to send my phone back. Took only 2 days. Worth it. I was getting these all the time because of the power button.

Hello guys, yesterday my nexus 5 suddenly turned off and than when I tried to turn it on some weird stuff started to happen. Sometimes the phone doesn't react on pressing the power button but sometimes it does and then I can see the google logo and it turns off. The most strange thing happens when I start to charge the phone. It turns on, shows the google logo and turns off and does it again. I found the guy with the same problem on youtube. Does anyone know what is going on and how to fix it?

Yeah, it's 100% power button when I hit the phone with my finger near the button or shake it, the phone turns on.
