[Q] Best radio T-Mobile? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys I would just like to get some feed back.
I am in the Philadelphia south jersey area and I was wondering
What radio was giving you guys the best performance if there is such a
Thing. Thanks in advance..

There isn't such a thing. There are so many environment variables that 2 people living next door to each other could have completely different experiences on the same radio.
Just try them all and find what is best for you.

After flashing a new radio, what is the easiest way of determining if it working better than a different version? Signal strength?

Depends what you mean by "better". For some it is signal strength. For others it is less standby. Others, battery usage. Hard to say. I would imagine you will just know...

Hey guys, thanks for your input.

Can I use Flashify to easily flash the different radios?

Anyone using a Radio other than the one provided by Stock Inspire?
Which one?
Any benefit to doing so? Does audio quality suffer?

I tried the M2 radio but I kept changing back to 3g all of the time. when I flashed back to the ATT stock radio I got hsdpa all the time.
I'm using the m3. Seems like my battery is lasting alot longer even with heavy usage. I played Angry birds for about 45mins and only lost like 8%. Signal stunk at first but has gotten better since I flashed it. Audio quality was tinny until I ran the audio fix then it sounds about the same as it does after flashing a rom..
I use M2 but no problems so far. Audio is good! It does switch to 3g but ironically its just about the same in speed. More of an annoyance than anything. Usually happens when I'm in areas with poor reception or interference like my campus for some reason.

I bounce back and forth between stock and M2. I agree that M2 bounces back and forth between H and 3G a lot, but I have a lot of screenshots being connected to "3G" that are showing speeds of 2mb down/1.5mb up...so I agree that it's more of an annoyance than anything. Not to mention I'm only connecting to GSM now so I only get Edge, since most of the time when it connects to WCDMA it will eventually stop allowing me to make/receive calls. So only using GSM, I almost always have 4 bars with M2, audio sounds the same on all of the radios I've used.
I am using 26.06.03.24_M2 and will try to leave it alone for a full week to test it in various areas that I go to. Seems OK so far......
Just flashed m3 took a while to figure out how since I have a Mac.

Gunny what r ur findings using m3.. I've been using stock so far and its been good to me... but using cm7rc2 with mad murdock battery fix my battery life is still horrible so i was thinking bout switching due to the rumor that m3 provides extended use.... thanks
haven't been on it long enough to say for sure, about battery life, but it may be a little better.
I have been using M2 and find the battery life to be terrific - better than stock.

A T-Mobile phone (assuming that's what you have) won't get 3G on AT&T's network because the frequencies T-Mob use for 3G differ from AT&T. I don't think a radio will change that.
I pretty much knew you were going to say that (ugh)....that's why I'm curious as to a possible Desire or Inspire radio? I also failed to mention.....this is NOT a windows phone anymore!...NAND cleared, rooted, unlocked & curently using TyphooN_CM7_v2.60 andriod 2.3.3 - fantastic build BTW! Do you think I may need to create the MediaNet APN ? along side the ATT APN already in use?
Wont change the fact that your phone lacks the frequencies to use 3g. It lacks the proper hardware.

What radio?

There are so many topics and discussions on this...is there one radio that is actually better than others based on my phone, location, and other things? I have the nexus s 3g on Tmobile in Ohio...thanks!

hmmm , i am not in USA, so i can not tell you which radio is better
but only someone who lives same location as you who can tell you , but OHIO is not small place ...
so , you should try it yourself, personal ideal , newest might be better , such as XXKF1 for me is better then others.
Is radio flashing done through Odin in the phone portion? Been thinking of doing this to try and find a more stable radio. Playing battlefield is impossible. My ping bounces around way too much. Wish it would stay at a steady 90.

[Q] Help deciding on radio version

Hi, I was running CM7 on my Nexus S (I9020T) with Baseband version I9020XXKD1. People always tell me they have a hard time understanding me (muffled). Anyways, I just updated to CM9-RC1 and the problem has persisted. I'm guessing it has to do with the radio.
I updated it to I9030XXKI1 and it's jumping back and forth from 3G to H but both only have one bar. The speeds I'm getting are:
ping 197ms/download 1407 kbps/upload 446kbps
What radio should I be using?
Test them all, results vary by service location.

All of which ones? Not sure where to find the "master list"

Thanks! Does it matter which one I choose or should I just start going down the list until I find one that gives me a solid connection?
That's all you can really do. I have used KB3, KD1, KF1, and the latest one from the ICS ota. I haven't really noticed a difference in my area between them though. Just make sure you stick to the i9020t radios!

Well, I tried all of the ones on that page and they all seem to have a low signal. Any other suggestions?
You should run each one for at least a full day. That will let you collect some significant data that will help you decide

Best radio/modem version for cm10

What's the best working modem for cm10? I've heard a lot of complaints so I wanna know what the best results you have been getting.

I don't think there is a "best" modem for CM10. From what I understand, it depends on your actual device, your distance from towers and your usage patterns (e.g. how often you hop from 3G to 4G). I could tell you my limited experience with various modems and CM10, but it could prove to be unhelpful for your specific case. That said, the G7 modem worked better for me on both AOSP and JB/TW roms. I live in a cellular blackhole and my phone bounces between basic phone service coverage to 3G to 4G. When I was using the latest modem (K1 I think) and an AOSP rom, I don't think I ever saw my phone get a lock on 4G. And TW roms would always say "Network Extender" (instead of Verizon Wireless) on the lock screen.
In short, try 'em out for a day or two and see which one works best for you.
Every radio/modem is going to give every single user a different experience. There is no single "best" one because everybody gets various results. What's "best" for me may not be "best" for you. Only advice i can give you is to try out different ones and if you find that gives you really good results then stick with it, there's no reason to fix something that ain't broken
Okay. Thanks both of you! I live in a cellular black hole too and am very surprised I get to send texts at all because its just my phone,my bros iPhone, and Motorola phones that even get service in my house. I'll try swapping them around a bit starting with the factory one and ending with newest. Thanks!
