Making folders like the Samsung and Google's - Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, on the home screen, there is a Samsung folder and a Google folder. They have a circular base. When the S-pen is above the icons, I get a preview of apps inside these folders. Is it possible to make this kind of folder? I want to make a Games folder to store all the games. Thanks.

Just drag à game icon onto another one and it will create a folder containing both. Then just drag all the other icons you need into the folder.

Thanks but when I clicked on an icon, the system created a duplicate?!

Ok if you're running stock Touchwiz and not Apex or Nova launcher:

Thanks. How do I change the appearance of the folder? For example, I want the folder to look like those of Samsung's and Google's with preview when the s-pen is on top of it.

[Q] live folders app?

is it possible to have folders on your homescreen like the iphone does? instead of having a plain boring folder icon, can we have an icon that shows all the icons inside of the folder?
I use Apps Organizer. Doesn't do exactly what u want, but does provide u with the ability to select ur own icon. Perhaps look into Folder Organizer. Seems like I have seen a screenshot showing what u r describing. Both of these apps are available in the market.

Go launcher has this feature in app drawer though, not sure if this feature is available in homescreen...

Folder Icons?????

Ok so you know how you can add a folder to your main screens, and then put other app icons in there. Well the folder is a stock manilla folder and i was wondering how we can change that icon to a folder icon of my choice. If anyone know how please let me know. Thanks
I know it's possible with ADW Ex, I'm not sure about other home replacement apps, but I don't think LauncherPro allows this.
You can also use something like Simi Folder or Folder Organizer to premake folders with custom icons and then add them to your homescreen as a widget or shortcut.

ok cool thanks ill have to give that a try
Launcher Pro Plus allows it, I don't know if the free version does. Go Launcher allows it too.
Folder Organizer lite is wonderful. App Organizer too.

And what about ES? Can it change icons?

[Q]Folder shortcuts?

hey everyone,
i was wondering, is there a file manager on the market or is there's a way using the stock one to create shortcuts to folders on screen, like with the dropbox app.
thanks
You can use an app called "Folder Organizer" (Free and Paid versions) to create folder shortcuts. It has recently been optimized for Honeycomb too
It comes with the ability to create folder widgets, but I love being able to combine it with "Desktop Visualizer" to create a folder link setup. Basically, I create an icon, and when tapped, the corresponding folder pop-up appears. It looks great, and doesn't affect home screen performance as much as having a bunch of widgets for each folder.
Just use Astro. It can create folder shortcuts.

Change application icons?

There are some cool icons in Coca Cola ROM (internet & messaging) that I like, but don't like the apps themselves. Can I change the icons of the apps I do like, to start using the icons from the apps that I don't like?
I'm using ADW EX launcher. I found that if I long press an icon, I can change the icon picture. But it doesn't show me where to go to find the other app icons.
I couldn't figure out how to do it the way I wanted.
But I did come up with a workaround.
Just do a Titanium backup on the app who has the icons you want. Then extract the .apk folder to your Windows desktop. Then open it and navigate to res\drawable-hdpi and in there you'll find the icon .png file. Just place that into your DCIM folder on your SD card (where your camera pictures are).
Then go to your phone.
Press and hold on the app who's icon you want to change. Then click on change picture, gallery, and select the icon that you placed in there.
And voila.... new icon for your app!
If that's your first time going into folders like that make sure you don't touch a ".9" image.

that's probably the best way, without making a new APKand swapping out ur current one, nice job

App drawer folders - question

Is there any way with the stock launcher to create a folder in the app drawer containing multiple items that can be copied to a home screen and then have the folder contents on the home screen update when the folder contents in the app drawer are updated?
Thanks!

Thanks!
Click to collapse
When updating apps the apps in folders, app drawer and home screen all get updated automatically.
Good luck,
Have a great day!
Thanks. Maybe it's me but I'm not seeing that. As an example in the app drawer I have a folder called Entertainment. It contains thinks like the Netflix, HBO, Showtime, etc.. apps. I've dragged that folder to a home page screen. If I download and add the Hulu app and use the edit function to add it to the Entertainment folder in the app drawer I don't see the Hulu app in the Entertainment folder I dragged to the home screen...
