HELP! can't install custom rom - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
I've got an old Xperia S currently running TWRP 2.7.1.0 (the latest version). I'm trying to install cyanogenmod on there but the recovery doesn't seem to work with adb sideloading and USB OTG doesn't seem to show up. I also can't seem to mount the phone's internal memory to my computer. The phone is wiped so I cannot access the actual system. Therefore, I cannot install a ROM on there. TWRP is the only recovery I could find which worked and so I cannot use a different recovery (unless you know of one). I now have a phone which cannot access any external files for installation and without a ROM. Help.
the sony Xperia Emma software doesn't seem to show the phone in fastboot mode nor recovery mode.
Thanks

help! please

Hello, Good afternoon.
So here's my problem, as you may or may not have (hopefully you have) read the post title i am having troubles with my CWM mounting my SD card so that i am able to either A: Load a ROM or B: connect it to my PC via usb so i can transfer over a ROM.
I have used the all in one toolkit to unlock my bootloader and root my phone, i have also installed the latest versions of SU, so originally after doing all of this everything was fine, A-OK. i then proceeded to download one of the cyanogenmod nightlies via CWM (the latest i believe) this is where as they say "**** hit the fan" so it seemed like everything installed all fine but then it reboots and nothing for hours it was just stuck on the HTC screen. i then switched the phone off and booted into recovery (volume down and power button) i then not sue it if was the right thing to do i wiped the data from the phone thinking it was corrupted and could simply put a new rom on via usb and boot it. however i have the problem of it not being able to mount my USB either to the pc or on the phone it self, i believe i still have access to the phone via ADB (im not 100% sure what ADB is) but i can flash new recoveries via CMD prompt. i have tried older CWM (modecco < did i spell this right? its the touch CWM) and i also tried TWRP Recoveries both of which cannot mount SD card and recieve the error "unable to open ums Lunfile" or "error mounting SD card".
i have searched many of the forums but form what i can see my solution requires me to boot into the OS but i cant do that nor can i mount my SD card to load a new one i.e putting on an Update.zip file to load a rom/os to the phone.
i dont generally ask for help as i enjoy trying to solve these issue and problems but i have been trying for a few days now and thought i would ask the experts.
any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

[Q] TF101 Mounting with TWRP

Well here's the long problem, deleted photos that I need to recover from my ASUS TF101, but then realized that since its connected via a PTP port, I can't use it as UMS and therefore can't use my recovery programs. So, then I searched around forums, rooted my tablet, and then installed TWRP and clockworkmod, and then in the TWRP recovery window, it says I can't mount the SD card, and now I'm completely stuck, help please?
TWRP and CWM ?
They are both recoveries, so the last one you flashed is the only one you have installed
TWRP is the one you should use

[Q] Stuck during cyanogenmod install

Dear XDA community,
I installed Clockwork recovery and the USB drivers. The device is unlocked and when in fastboot mode it is correctly identified by my PC as falcon XT1302 with an USB connection. When in recovery mode, the device appears as "Android" in the devices menu in Windows 7 and there is a yellow "!" next to it. Unfortunately after formatting system and deleting the cache as per instructions the device won't boot up. I'm stuck at the bootloader unlock warning screen. I can access fastboot mode and recovery mode but that's it.
I want to place the cyanogenmod zip inside the internal SD card of the Moto G but adb doesn't work. I get the device not found error when inputting a command. adb devices returns a blank. I don't know which drivers to install or what to do. I've tried various fixes on forums but none work. Maybe USB debugging is the problem although I distinctly remember switching it on. In any case, I can't boot so I can't change the settings.
All I want is a way to place the cyano .zip in the phone /sdcard so that I can install it. I'm all out of ideas. USB mounting doesn't seem to work. Neither does sideloader (or maybe I messed it up?) I am at wit's end.
I didn't have anything important on my phone so I did not make a backup. In hindsight, this was a stupid mistake. I've certainly learned a lot during the install attempt.
If possible please give step by step instructions. I am not a very technical person. Any help would be greatly appreciated. pls halp
kind regards

As above said flash stock boot up copy cm11 and gapps reboot boot loader flash cwm or twrp reboot recovery wipe data, cache, dalvik flash ROM gapps reboot all done
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
Thanks to the users who replied. I've managed to solve the problem.
Would have been faster though to get your device recognized while in recovery. You can install the driver manually and it should work. Just search for seperate driver files and ignore the Windows message that it is probably 'not compatible etc.'.
Then your device is connected properly and you can get ADB sideload to work from your recovery.

Have you got an unlocked bootloader with a custom kernel with CWM embedded into it?
If not it is possible that CWM was erased from your system partition for some reason. Have you tried reinstalling CWM onto your device?

Forgot to mention that, bootloader is still locked. Is there a chance for cwm to get erased from the system? ?? Can i have cwm permanent by getting bootloader unlocked? ?
I will try reinstalling cwm as you had mentioned. Right now, i am having some difficulties installing a cwm because recently i changed my os to ubuntu and struggling with it
Thanks

It is unlikely it would have, however it is possible. If you unlock your bootloader (if it is possible) you can install a custom kernel like vengeance what has CWM embedded in it meaning you will never lose it.
Good luck on reinstalling CWM.

[Q] [Falcon] AOKP Wiped And I Can't Find A Way To Install A New ROM

Hey guys! I'd really love a quick response, as I take my classes over the phone.
Basically, a couple weeks ago I flashed AOKP onto my phone. Of course, I made the rookie mistake of feeling safe and deleted my backup of the Stock ROM.
Now, I wiped my whole system thinking that I'd be able to sideload a ROM over ADB with PhilZ Touch 6, yet ADB can't find my device (even with all the current drivers). Strangely enough, my computer is able to recognize my phone with the ADB driver, and I can still use fastboot commands in the bootloader.
But I have no way of installing another ROM! Doesn't PhilZ Touch include a method of mounting my phone as a USB Storage Device?!
Please, anyone, help! You're my only hope!
TWRP Recovery supports USB storage . Flash it via fastboot
