[Q] XT1039 4.4.4 External SD Card blank when battery runs out - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Moto G 4G XT1039 upgraded to Android 4.4.4 - UK unlocked phone
System version - 21.1.46peregrine_retgb_retgball.en.GB retgb
Build number - KXB21.14-L1.46
MicroSD Card - SanDisk Ultra 64 GB XC I Class 10
I formatted the card on my Windows 7 pc with FAT32. It is recognised by the phone and I can use it normally. But every time phone battery dies, I get the message that the SD card is blank. It gives me an option to format the card. I get the message - Erasing the card. The card is then usable. Its file system is listed as Generic hierarchical. It has Used Space 76.0 KB and Free Space 59.3 GB. It also has 2 directories - Android and LOST.DIR.
This has happened about 3 times now and results in losing all files on SD Card. Has anyone else experienced this and any opinions as to what can be causing this?

Wait for the new update .56. I think will be available soon for the UK. It fixes sd card bugs.

Thanks, demolition23. It would still be interesting to know if this is just an odd issue with my phone and sdcard OR has anyone else has experienced this particular problem. Could it be because 64 GB sd card is not officially supported?

[Q] Sandisk 32 GB MicroSDHC Data corrupts Pls Help !!

I guess this is my specific problem as I didn't found any query regarding this.
I have recently purchased Sandisk 32GB MicroSDHC class 4. I have installed fresh SteelEpicBlue V4 ROM and everything i did regarding ext3 swap etc. But now when i try to copy my old data, images, movie clips, movies it does copy but it gets corrupted. If lets say i copy 20 images at a time 4-5 opens and are accessable left all gets corrupt.
I checked with few testings that till data card in not pushed back to phone and if i try to access data on card to various PC ( I have 5 different pc tp check ) it works and lets me copy information safely but as i put it back to phone it creates thumbnails and most of the files get corrupted.
I have fat32 format file system in the card.
Please help me with 3 question if anyone may:
1) Is it that i have got compatable SDcard - mine is Sandisk Class 4 32GB ?
2) Is it that we can make sum partition to help easy access & will it help?
3) Is there anything we can do to keep files in the SD card safe protecting it from corruption?
Please help me in this.
Thanks in advance.

Please let me know if there is anybody who tried 32gb MicroSDHC yet with XT720. And if it is working fine. Please let us know.
I use a 32gb card and it works fine. Most of the glitches have been self-inflicted. I had a Topram 16gb class 6 for a long time and used it on Nokia 5800 and then in xt720. I am a music hound so I upgraded to Topram 32gb class 10, although it runs more like a class 6. Capacity on the card is almost the full 32gb, so I was happy about that. Got both 16 and 32 from eBay, but made sure I got from same purveyor.
And always remember, even a broken clock is right twice a day.

any help please (flytouch 3)

Hi guys just bought my first android tablet from ebay its a 10.2" TABLET PC,SUPERPAD 3 ,FLYTOUCH 3,ANDROID 2.3, 8GB. I have been having a few problems getting the sd card to load. I have tried 4 different sd cards and none of them work. When i insert the sd card it pops up reading sd card then nothing i go into the settings then to sdcard & device storage and all that shows up is internal device storage no sd card. I have tried to use apps2sd but that doesnt work either. I contacted the seller and he told this was normal and i would have to use a file manager to locate the sd card on the tab.
I am at a loss here as i have rooted my hero and my galaxy s2 and never had a problem using my sd cards or app2sd or anything like that. I am just wondering if this means the tablet could be a clone or a fake.
I would be grateful if someone could please give me some help or information on this
Thanks
Well, the first thing I would do is attempt to follow the seller's suggestion. Can you reach the SD card via a file manager? If so, perhaps it's worth reloading your OS (though I'm not sure how to do it on your tablet).
To address whether or not it is a knockoff, the general rule is:
If the price is too good to be true, it probably is.
Here is the firmware for the tablet
Model number : Android Tab10
Android Version: V2.3 2011-12-19 (001112)
Kernel Version: 2.6.329 [email protected] #289
Build Number: FRF85B
I had same problem FlyTouch2 but i tried low speed SD card. 4GB and 2GB and after 3-4 reformat those cards worked. I format those cards in device.
Class 6 card never worked.

Sony Xperia L + MicroSD Card - Problem?

Hello. I have this smartphone since couple of days. Today I bouht a microSD Card TDK 16GB. The phone found the card, but I was unable to read or write on the card. I tried the card with MicroSD Card Reader and the card worked fine. I also tried to put my old MicroSD Card from my old phone on the Xperia L. The old card is Apacer 8GB with two partitions. The first is for storage and the second is for Applications linked with Link2SD. The Xperia L found only the second partition (for the apps), but I was able to write on the card and also read from it. I tried to format the new MicroSD Card from Windows and from the phone - no results. Then I updated the phone from PC Companion. There was a new firmware, I think. The Android version is the same 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. The SD stared to work on the phone. I can read and write on the card. I decided to install iGo navigation. All ok, but when I put the maps on, the application starts to crash and says, that there is an error in the maps. The maps however work fine, because I have tested them on my older phone. Then I installed iGo on the internal memory of the phone (SDCard0 - that are saying ES File Explorer and Astro File Manager for the Internal Memory and the SD Card is SDCard1) and the Navigation now is working fine. Is there a problem with the phone or with the MicroSD Card? Separately they both work fine. I tried the MicroSD Card with other files - music, pictures, videos - all is working fine, but I have problem with the Navigation. What do you think? Is there a problem somewhere? Why I can't run iGo from the MicroSD Card? Is this a Software or a Hardware problem? Is the problem from the Phone or from the MicroSD Card? Is there a problem at all?

I have heard that older versions of firmware had issues with some cards and do not have the latest.
I'm using the latest and I have no problem with any card.
You are using version 15.0.A.2.17?
If not install it and see if the problem persists.
I found out, what was the problem with the iGo and the MicroSD Card. I tried GTA Vice City too. I need Root to be able to move the files from the internal memory to the SD Card. Now however I have another BIG problem. With the new firmware 15.0.A.2.17 I have the Walkman player problem. With the older I didn't have this problem. Now the player can't play proper the songs. I tried all. The tipp from Sony : Deleting the songs, format the SD Card from the phone, copy the songs - no results. I also tried to put the songs on the internal memory - same problem. I reseted the phone from PC Companion and the problem is still on. Any solutions for that?
Strange that.
I have no problem with the Walkman. Have you tried flashing the firmware for FlashTool?
Could you help me on one thing, you would have an MHL adapter with an HDMI cable to test the Xperia L is able to be passed the image to tv?
15.0.A.2.17 firmware fixed Class 10 SD card problem for me.
You can also try to format the card on another phone. I did it with my SGAce and it works! I also formatted in XL just in case, but it recognised the card after the Ace formatting.

My tablet wont use sd card (Please Help!)

Hi everyone
I bought a lg g pad 7.0 a few days ago and have been facing an issue. My last tablet was a rooted nook tablet running 4.2.2 my new tablet is one 4.4.2 and ive heard it has something to do with the multiple user ability they added. anyway i only have 5 gb of internal storage and a empty 32gb sd card, for some reason there is an emulated sd card called storage/sdcard0
and my actual sd card is storage/ext-sd. i need to find out if there is a way to change default app install location or if i can delete the emulated partition and use it like jellybean.
btw i rooted using purple drake and it works just fine(except for the sd card)
Id appreciate any advice or help as this is very frustrating

[Help] Error with MicroSD on any android 10 custom ROM

Hello XDA community. I have an issue with my MicroSD card on any Android 10 custom ROMs. I can't use my MicroSD card as internal storage. On a fresh install of some Android 10 based ROM, when I try to format my SD card for use it as internal storage, seems everything goes normal but in a while, when I reboot my phone several times the SD card gets corrupt, the phone stops recognise the card and I can't use it any longer. This error happens to me on every Android 10 custom ROM that I try to install and use it. Even I tried to low-level format my card but nothing happens, the error is the same and due this I'm not able to use the latest versions of android 10 on my Moto Osprey device. Someone could help me please to fix this issue?
I habe the same problem. With LOS 14.1 it works, with LOS 17.1 it doesn't.

I've had SD cards as Internal but I don't like the system myself and I've even had them split with some of the SD card as Internal and some as Portable using,
