[REVIEW] Ambrane P-1000 10400mAh Portable Power bank - Nexus 4 Accessories

This is the review thread of the Ambrane P-1000 Portable Power Bank, not to be confused with the P-1040(same capacity but different design that's all)
I had purchased this from Flipkart.com for around Rs 1400/-($23), which is I guess reasonable price for a power bank of such high capacity, the P-1040 model costs Rs300 extra but the only major difference is the design which is more sleeker but other than that everything else is almost the same

Technical Specifications:
High Power Ultra Bright LED Torch
Digital Display
10400 mAh Capacity
Samsung SDI Lithium-ion Cells
Charging Time: 600 mAh Per Hour
Input: 5V/1A
Output: 5V 1A and 5V 2.1A
To test the backup and charge of this power bank I had charged it till 100%(see attachments), and depleted the battery in my Nexus 4 completely, I then charged my phone using the Power bank in the 2.1A port till 100%.
The power bank registered a charge drop from 100% to just 92% while the 2100mAh battery in my Nexus4 was completely charged. Which means this would charge my Nexus 4 at least 4-5 times!
Value for money is there in this product and the dual outputs are great for even charging 2 devices at the same time, many would rather opt for the Xiaomi Mi Power Bank, but comparatively its almost the same and this has a few extra goodies.
I hope this review was helpful, for international buyers you may find this product on eBay or Amazon, and for Indian buyers its readily available on Flipkart, Snapdeal, Amazon.in and eBay.in

[Q] External Batery

Anyone use the external battery from proporta (turbo charger 5000)?
What it's your opinion, it's worth it?
How many REAL charges can be performed for DHD, and how long it last?
here it's the link
http://www.proporta.com/F02/PPF02P05.php?t_id=5287&t_mode=des
Thank you!
Don't know about that one, but this one is 40% cheaper:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/New-Trent-Dual-port-IMP50D-Blackberry/dp/B004AM1OK4/ref=pd_cp_ce_1
I bought it a month ago, same storage capacity as the one you're looking at, comes with USB cable and 2 adaptors (mini & micro usb) which is just enough to charge the pack and your phone respectively. Or a phone with a mini usb port...
I haven't done any serious benchmarking, but I'd estimate about 3 "full" charges. The pack itself does take some time to charge up, since it's filling up 500mah and I do it via the PC usb port, so a direct wall charge would probably be faster.
I use it as a top up, so normally I plug it the phone in for an hour or so, take it to 80% charge. Haven't done any 0-100 trials
There are a couple more vendors on Amazon, check them out. I have noticed that the price of this model varies over time: I bought it at 22.95GBP, then saw it at 29.95, and now it's 25...
thank you for your reply, do you think the charger of DHD will charge it faster?
I am using the Gum Pro from justmobile and I'm really satisfied. 4400mAh capacity, 1000mA output... charging way faster than standard charger. Lasts for 3-4 charges...
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
Fantastic, I want that for my DHD

I would think so. I'm not sure about the output the battery pack receives from my USB port (I have 2 ports on the laptop, and one is connected to a hub with 10 outputs of which 5 are normally in use, which is where the pack is recharged from) - but the wall chargers are normally faster in my experience.
Anyway, a slower charge is always recommended, as it's said that the battery performs better with slow chargers, and I can tell you it's truth, I now onlye charge the phone via USB and seems to have a better battery life(not much better, but still, bit better)
well, I have buy the one I posted and I charged with htc wall charger (it will charge my phone 3 times), that's good but today when I try to charge it again it's say that it's empty. I plug it in charger and in 5 min it's full. (it's take around 2 hour to full charge). when I plug my phone back on - to charge it - it's working normal.... it's that ok or it's going to final/death
I mean it needs a inpulse to go back to normal
It's this happend for you guys?
It sounds like it isn't working properly, though I'm sure you noticed .
Proporta offer a no-hassle returns policy, though you will probably have to pay the postage - so you could request a replacement, or just get you money back & get yourself another brand.
We offer a super high capacity USB battery @ 9600mAh for roughly 39 Euro / USD 55 shipped to any country. The down side is having a single USB port output only comparing to Proporta's dual output.

Wow... that looks physically identical (but in white) to the New Trent 5000mah casing. Even the charge/discharge indicators and button.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/New-Trent-Dual-port-IMP50D-Blackberry/dp/B004AM1OK4/ref=pd_cp_ce_1
Er... can you fit double the capacity into the same volume? What are its dimensions?
sorry for bad pic but here you can have an ideea about the size.
got another clone of the new trent one, tecknet iEP380 5000mAh, about £23 via amazon
note these all charge via the mini usb conector , not the micro charger one that the desire HD uses,
its about the size of the phone again, so not an everyday item to carry around, but when your away from a power source for a day or two it does the job well.

Updated[Tested} HTC One SV 2500? Battery

UPDATE..
THE SELLER HAS REMOVED THE $30 DOLLAR SHIPPING FEE AND IS OFFERING FREE SHIPPING AGAIN.
Hi all,
I just wanted to pass on a little info about a battery and charger that I found on Ebay. The battery is listed as a 2500mAh battery and can be purchased with a wall charger.
I have had the battery for about a week now and I am pleased with it so far. At 1st the battery didn't seem to be any better than the stock battery but after a few charging cycles it seems to be holding a charge much longer than the original stock battery. As you can see in the screenshot below, It was almost at 15 hrs with 49% charge left. That's not bad at all! :good:
I cannot say for sure if this battery is actually a TRUE 2500 mAh but it is def. holding a charge longer than stock.

Yes. The stock back fits over the battery perfectly.
I just wanted to drop by and update this thread. Here is a pic of the battery and charger. As you can see, the charger has an LED display. It is animated and lights up with a green glow when charging. Also, the battery is holding up great and lasting a good bit longer than the stock battery.
The seller will be selling these batteries and chargers aprox 1 week from this post. He is on vacation right now.
Just ordered mine, since i have the feeling that my original battery lasts less and less... or am i getring jealous of my girlfriend's xperia sp ?

Good to know. The Ebay seller actually removed the item from Ebay for a month or so but eventually brought the item back but had tacked on a $30 shipping fee.
I just checked the Ebay link I have posted in the OP and it too offers free shipping again. I'll update the OP now.
I ended up selling my battery along with my HTC One SV when I purchased my S3. I'm running the Zerolemon 7000mAh battery now.
EDIT-- It looks like they are not offering the LCD adjustable charger that originally came with the battery/charger combo. Take a look at the picture I posted above. That charger adapts to almost any phone battery and has a LCD display. That charger isn't offered in any of the new battery/charger combos. They've went with a cheaper wall charger.
This product don`t available now (((

Best trekking battery

Hi,
I would be really interested in your opinion. I'm a kind of an outdoor guy, who goes often for ten days treks in nature without electricity. My Galaxy S5 is used to GPS, photos, calls, messages, usually lasts about 2 days. I'm looking for charging solution based on this priorities:
1) Maximum capacity
2) Minimum weight (every gram is counted)
3) Fastest way to charge
4) Keep the water resistance
5) Reasonable price
The only way I found is swapping extra genuine 3500 mAh batteries. No one external charger is lighter and more than 100% effective than pre-charged genuine batteries. Ability to "charge" phone in 15 second of swapping battery is also great.
In reality, I will need 5 x 3500 mAh battery, which is a bit expensive - 100 USD, because I did not find the way to buy only battery without cover. That is one big negative.
Looking forward to your opinion or experiences!
buy 5x of those batteries, or 2 or 3 of zerolemon extended batteries (will not be waterproof mind you) Or buy a very good solar panel (which will cost around $200) which also has a battery bank.
There's no cheap option in this, you want your phone to last for 10 days, it will cost you. I'd buy the 5x batteries to be honest.
Also keep in mind that each time you swap there is more and more chance to mess up that puni little silicone band. One grain of sand and forget that you have water proof device.
My scenario is similar. Kayaking.
Water sealed bag for the external battery, 2A charging takes a bit over hour. While it is charging I keep it in the bag with the battery.
Another option that would cost too much money would be - Solar panel/battery - wireless charger- wireless charging back.
I currently use the Tylt Back pack - it runs $150-170 for the bag and battery.

Input Voltage: 5V 1Amp (Micro USB)
Output Charging Current: 4.75V - 5.25V - 1Amp
Lithium Ion Battery - 10,400 mAh
Battery Charge Time 7-8 Hours
Two 1Amp USB ports for charging phones
One 2.1Amp USB port for charging tablets
I also own RAVPower Deluxe 14000mAh Power Bank http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=0SC-000Y-00060. 14000mAh for $35.
The Anker E5 16,000 mAh battery is awesome, has a LED torch in it incase the worse happens and you needed some light. Its not very expensive its £25 in the UK.

MobilePal Gen-2 10000mAh Universal Power Bank [Review]

Like the previous product MobilePal Gen-2 Wireless Charging Pad in m last review, I didn't pay for this unit; I got this as a review unit and I'm going to put my honest opinion here. Please consider this if you're looking for a power bank.
I do have several other power banks and to start this review, this one isn't very different. We are reviewing MobilePal 10000mAh Universal Power Bank. I'm sure you must have noticed the product listing on Amazon says "MobilePall" instead of "MobilePal" but I'm pretty sure it's the latter.
Anyway, we'll just split this up in following 4 categories:-
- Boxing & Contents
- Build Quality & Design
- Functionality & Performance
- Pros & Cons
Boxing & Content

Like any typical power banks, the box comes with the following items inside:-
- MobilePal 10,000 mAh Power Bank
- 1 x 2-in-1 Charging Cable (Micro USB & MFi Certified Apple Lightning Port)
- User Guide
Now, the charging cable do support iPhones and other Micro USB Phones, so you wouldn't really have to separately buy or carry around a long cable. MobilePal has found a very nice way to fit both the ports in a tiny USB Cable.
Build Quality & Design
As a 10,000 mAh powerbank, it's definitely smaller and lighter than any other powerbanks out there with equivalent capacity. The body is made of solid plastic with matte surface. Overall, the finishing looks great unlike some cheap products out there. The powerbank doesn't have any LED to show the charge status, instead they have integrated a small LCD display which is very cool. It shows the battery capacity in percentage and it also displays, which output the charging unit is connected to.
It has 2 USB Outputs and 1 micro-USB input. It also has an LED flashlight and a power button to turn on/off the flashlight and powerbank.
Functionality & Performance
I've been using this unit for like 3-4 days now and I must say that it did dissapoint me a couple of times but given the price, the performance and the quality is easily acceptable.
Before I started using the powerbank, I charged it to 100% using a Samsung OEM Charger and quite frankly, it charged pretty quickly compared to my other 10,000 mAh powerbank. I didn't get a chance to use the powerbank for next two days and it did hold up nicely too. Clicking the Power Button on third day, it did show me 100% on the inbuilt LCD Panel (with bright blue backlight). Once connected, I was able to charge my iPhone 6 Plus from 10% to 100% in around 160 minutes (2 Hrs, 40 Min). It is important to mention that both the USB outputs have different specification, the one on the left has 1 Amp while the other one has 2.1 Amp output. During my iPhone charging, I was constantly connected to 2.1Amp output. Now, I know that an iPhone may not charge at full 2.1A rate, but if it took 160 minutes, then I'm assuming the charging rate was at approximate 1.1A which is a bit dissapointing.
To check the output of both the ports, I connected an USB amp meter next time and charged the device back to full. For verifying simultanous charging of 2 devices, I connected my S6 Edge+ and Nexus 4 together. Here's a summary of the result:-
The result clearly shows that the 2.1 Amp output doesn't deliver upto it's claims although, my S6 Edge+ was charged faster than the iPhone (about 125 minutes). Another thing that I noticed is that initial drop in the % (displayed on LCD) is much faster but it gradually slows down. So do not worry if just after the first full charge, the value drops to 60%, it did hold up more than 2 times to charge my S6 Edge+ easily. Another good thing about it is that the charging rate isn't affected much even when two devices were charged simultaneously.
About the flashlight, there's nothing extraordinary about it. It's just a casual flashlight for emergencies, do not depend on it while going for a camping or any other dark places.
Pros & Cons
Pros:-
- Good Build Quality
- High Capacity
- Small in size
- Built-in LCD Panel
- 2 USB Outputs
- Built-in Flash Light
- 2-in-1 USB Cable
Cons:-
- Lower Output
- 1 in-box Cable
Overall, it's a decent power bank at a decent price. Even though this one is just 10,000 mAh, MobilePal has one for massive 20,000 mAh battery at just $30.

I just bought the xiaomi power bank 2 , from someone's recommendation here and it works great , fast charging works perfect, nice price also
Samsung S8 has a 3000mAh battery, which is high capacity compare with other smartphones. That is means at least you should buy a 10000mah+ power bank which can charge your S8 above 2 times.
This is Luxtude quick charge power bank which is 13400mah, it can charge your S8 above 3 times.
besides,it is IP67 Waterproof & Dustproof, Shockproof
Amazon ASIN:B074167W1V
I've got a 20,000mah BEAST with 3 ports....all dishing out 2.1amp.
LCD indicator etc, the lot....not one of those cheapo chinese rip offs.....DAMN, the name of it has literally gon e outta my head this second..aRGHHH!!
Only cost £25.00
Charged my S8 Plus from 0-100% twice, my mother's LG G3 0-100% once and my Daughter's HTC Desire Eye 0-100% and still msaying 64% left..lol.
Love it!

It's a beast.....
Anker 20000 mah one with fast charging is good.
Maybe you should look at this one
Luxtude 13400mah capacity power bank http://amzn.to/2uf6JJH
Smart Output/Input Quick Charge--It supports max 5V 2.4A output charging and charging 2 devices at the same time. And it also supports max 18W input charging, which could be fully charged in 4.5h fastest. Save your time maximally.
Compatible Well with 99% Smart Devices--Liberating you from various battery of devices when you go out. P67 Waterproof & Dustproof--It is the same level as iPhone 7, for ensuring to be used+ normally in any outdoor environment(jungles, rivers, Desert etc.).
Durable, Shockproof and Portable Design--It passed the professional drop test, which could even be used to protect yourself when confronted with danger. But it's lighter.
Top Class LG Battery--It could charge phones repeatedly with 13400 mAh capacity, such as iPhone7 5 times, iPhone6s 5.5 times and Huawei P9 3 times.
I have used Anker power bank and it charges my phone very fast (compared to other power banks) .. the capacity depends on your preference.
The important thing is that you need to make sure that the power bank supports Qualcomm Quick charge (which has the green port)
